President of India receives 2018 edition of the QS world University Rankings
The President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee received the 2018 edition of the QS World University Rankings brought out by the Education Promotion Society of India (EPSI) today (June 9, 2017) at a function held at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
● Speaking on the occasion, the President urged EPSI to continue the efforts they are making in the education sector.
● He said that he was happy to find three Indian institutions – IIT Delhi and IISc Bangalore, which were already in the top 200, and the latest entrant IIT Bombay securing ranks within the coveted top 200 and IISc Bangalore being now ranked 6th globally for Citations per Faculty.
● The President said that while in terms of infrastructure there has been considerable expansion in the higher education sector, quality of education in many institutes remains a matter of concern.
● In ancient times, we had renowned seats of higher learning – Nalanda, Takshashila, Vikramashila, Valabhi, Somapura and Odantapuri – that dominated the world higher education system for eighteen hundred years beginning sixth century BC.
● Scholars from around the globe flocked to these centres of learning in search of knowledge.
President of India launches mobile app ‘Selfie with Daughter’
The President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee launched a mobile Application ‘Selfie with Daughter’ at Rashtrapati Bhavan today (June 9, 2017).
● Speaking on the occasion, the President congratulated Shri Sunil Jaglan on the launch of the mobile-app ‘Selfie-with-Daughter’.
● He said that Shri Jaglan’s efforts in initiating this campaign in Haryana are praiseworthy. Selfie-with-Daughter has become a world-wide movement against female foeticide and sex selection.
● He hoped that this would eventually help in dealing with the problems arising out of gender imbalance.
● He stated that the App is an innovative concept and an act of gentle persuasion. He urged people to take photographs with their daughters and upload on the App to make the campaign a success.
● The ‘Selfie with Daughter’ campaign was started by Shri Sunil Jaglan in June 2015 in village Bibipur, Jind, Haryana.
● A former Sarpanch, Shri Jaglan has been working in the field of women empowerment and village development.
● The aim of the campaign is to motivate society to feel proud to be parents of a girl child which will result in improving the child sex ratio.
Second edition of National Health Editors’ Conference on Yoga held in New Delhi
The second edition of National Health Editors’ Conference on Yoga was inaugurated by Minister of State for AYUSH (Independent Charge), Shri Shripad Yesso Naik at National Media Centre in New Delhi today.
● The conference was organized by Ministry of AYUSH in association with the Press Information Bureau (PIB), M/o Information & Broadcasting; and Central Council for Research in Yoga and Naturopathy (M/o AYUSH) as a part of celebrations of the 3rd International Day of Yoga on 21st June, 2017.
● The theme of this year’s conference was “Yoga for Health and Harmony”.
● Addressing the participants, Shri Shripad Naik said that the International Day of Yoga is perhaps the only occasion where people across the globe come together in such a large number and take active participation.
● The interest and zeal of participation in yoga is increasing considerably year by year due to which today yoga has become a household name in the real sense, the Minister added.
● Shri Shripad Naik said that the credit of increasing popularity of yoga also goes to media may it be print, electronic or social media.
● The AYUSH Minister stated that yoga has earned the global recognition in promoting positive health among people.
● Since treatments in the modern media hospitals are becoming expensive affairs for the people, yoga is gradually making new inroads into the health care system, he elaborated.
● The Minister further stated that yoga not only makes people healthy but also helps to reduce the burden on the health care delivery system of the country.
Sagarmala A Game Changer in Country’s growth: First Workshop Held in Capital
The Ministry of Shipping organized a workshop on its flagship programme titled, “Accelerating Sagarmala Implementation – Engaging with States” in New Delhi today.
● The main objective of the workshop was to enhance the engagement among Ministry of Shipping, other line ministries and various maritime states of India for Sagarmala Programme.
● The workshop was presided over by Sh. Rajive Kumar, Secretary (Shipping) and the key note address was delivered by Sh. Amitabh Kant, CEO, NITI Aayog.
● Speaking on the occasion Sh. Kant said, that ports can act as the catalyst of growth and help in achieving 10% consistent growth rate for the country, hence making Sagarmala programme the game changer for the country’s development.
● Exemplifying, the success stories of China, Korea, Japan and Singapore, where the ports have led the country’s growth strategy, Shri Kant said that there is a need for conglomeration of all the stakeholders for proper execution and have an export focused strategy.
● For India to increase its current growth rate of 7.6%, it’s essential to penetrate the global markets which only ports can drive.
● He pointed out that land is not a challenge and all what is required is optimum utilisation of available resources.
Thaawarchand Gehlot Inaugurates ‘Eastern Regional Conference’ on issues relating to Empowerment of persons with Disabilities
Shri Thaawarchand Gehlot, Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment inaugurated the “Eastern Regional Conference of Eastern Region States on issues relating to Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities” organized by Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD), Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment here today.
● Representatives from the States of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, Odisha, Sikkim, Tripura, West Bengal participated in the Conference.
● Shri Krishan Pal Gurjar, Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Shri N.S. Kang, Secretary, DEPwD and senior officers from Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment and the participating States were present.
● In his inaugural address, Shri Thaawarchand Gehlot said that the new Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 has expanded the horizon of the rights of persons with disabilities vis-a-vis the repealed PwD Act, 1995 and casts increased responsibilities on the States/UTs to ensure that the persons with disabilities enjoy their rights equally with others.
● The State Governments are also required to take measures to provide institutional mechanism for registration of institutions working in the disability sector.
● It is needless to say that the new Act has penal provisions for violation of its provisions.

GST Council constitutes 18 Sectoral Groups for smooth roll-out of GST
As decided in the 14th Meeting of the GST Council held on 18th-19th May, 2017 in Srinagar, J&K, 18 Sectoral Groups have been constituted representing various sectors of the economy in order to ensure smooth roll-out of GST.
● These 18 Sectoral Groups representing various sectors of the economy and containing Senior Officers of the Centre and the States are being set-up to ensure smooth implementation of GST by timely responding to the issues and problems of their respective Sector(s).
● In fact, they are being with the following objectives:
● Interact and examine representations received from trade and industry associations/bodies of their respective sector.
● Highlight specific issues for the smooth transition of the respective sector to the GST regime.
● Prepare sector specific draft guidance.
● These Sectoral Working Groups consist of Senior Officers from the Centre and the States.
New Projects Inaugurated at Kamarajar Port in Tamil Nadu
The Union Minister of Shipping, Road Transport & Highways Shri Nitin Gadkari has said that an investment of Rs 2 lakh 50000 crore is being made in Tamil Nadu under Sagarmala.
● Of this Rs.39,000 crore will be for port modernization, Rs.55,000 crore for port connectivity and Rs.1,50,000 crore for port led industrialization.
● The minister said this at Kamarajar Port in Chennai today, where he inaugurated several new projects.
● The projects include a New Container Terminal worth Rs.1270 crore, a new multi cargo terminal worth Rs.151 crores, Railway line to Container and Multi cargo terminal worth Rs. 60 crore, and RFID system worth Rs.11.82 crore.
● Shri Gadkari said the work being done under Sagarmala is estimated to create about 2 lakh direct jobs in the state in the next two years.
● The Development of New Container Terminal project will provide more container handling facility for traders, it will also facilitate the new industries and ancillaries in the vicinity of the port, provide new job opportunities and will give boost to local economy.
The Union Finance Minister to chair the 16th Meeting of the GST Council on Sunday, 11th June, 2017
The Union Minister for Finance, Defence and Corporate Affairs, Shri Arun Jaitley will chair the 16th Meeting of the GST Council scheduled to be held on Sunday, 11th June, 2017 at Vigyan Bhavan in the national capital.
● The one day Meeting will also be attended among others by the Finance Ministers of different States and UTs (having elected assembly) being the members of the GST Council.
● Main agenda items of the 16th GST Council Meeting include confirmation of the minutes of the 15th GST Council meeting held on 3rd June, 2017, approval of amendments to draft GST Rules and Rate Adjustment, if any, based on the representations received from different trade and industry and their associations.
● This meeting will be important in the sense that the GST Law is going to be rolled-out with effect from 1st July, 2017.

राष्ट्रपति ने क्यूएस विश्व विश्वविद्यालय रैंकिंग का 2018 संस्करण प्राप्त किया
राष्ट्रपति प्रणब मुखर्जी ने आज (9 जून, 2017) राष्ट्रपति भवन में आयोजित एक समारोह में भारत की शिक्षा संवर्द्धन सोसाइटी (ईपीएसआई) द्वारा प्रकाशित क्यूएस विश्व विश्वविद्यालय रैंकिंग का 2018 संस्करण प्राप्त किया।
● इस अवसर पर, राष्ट्रपति महोदय ने ईपीएसआई से शिक्षा क्षेत्र में किए जा रहे अपने प्रयासों को जारी रखने का आग्रह किया। उन्होंने कहा कि वह यह जानकर प्रसन्न हैं कि भारत के तीन संस्थानों- आईआईटी दिल्ली एवं आईआईएससी बंगलूरु तथा आईआईटी बांबे के प्रतिष्ठित शीर्ष 200 में स्थान पाने में सफल रहे हैं।
● इनमें से आईआईटी दिल्ली एवं आईआईएससी बंगलूरु पहले से ही शीर्ष 200 में स्थान प्राप्त कर चुके हैं जबकि आईआईटी बांबे इस प्रतिष्ठित में प्रवेश करने वाला नवीनतम संस्थान है। आईआईएससी बंगलूरु को अब साइटेशन पर फैकल्टी के लिए वैश्विक रूप से छठा स्थान दिया जा रहा है।
● राष्ट्रपति महोदय ने कहा कि जहां बुनियादी ढांचे के लिहाज से उच्चतर शिक्षा क्षेत्र में उल्लेखनीय विस्तार हुआ है, कई संस्थानों में शिक्षा की गुणवत्ता अभी भी चिंता की बात बनी हुई है। उन्होंने कहा कि प्राचीन समय में, हमारे पास शिक्षा के नालंदा, तक्षशिला, विक्रमशिला, वलाभी, सोमपुरा एवं ओदांतपुरी जैसे विख्यात स्थान थे जिनका ईसा पूर्व छठी शताब्दी से लेकर 1800 वर्षों तक विश्व उच्चतर शिक्षा प्रणाली पर दबदबा था।
● दुनिया भर के विद्वान ज्ञान की खोज में शिक्षा के इन केंद्रों तक खींचे चले आते थे। आज की स्थिति इसके बिल्कुल उलट है। भारत के कई प्रतिभाशाली छात्र विदेशों के विश्वविद्यालयों से उच्चलर शिक्षा ग्रहण करते हैं। शिक्षा के हमारे उच्चतर संस्थान विश्व स्तरीय विद्वान पैदा करने में सक्षम हैं लेकिन विदेशी विश्वविद्यालय इसमें बाजी मार ले जाते हैं।
● राष्ट्रपति महोदय ने कहा कि उच्चतर शिक्षा के केंद्रीय संस्थानों में विजिटर के रूप में विश्वविद्यालयों की उनकी यात्रा के दौरान वह विश्व विश्वविद्यालय रैंकिंग के प्रदर्शन को लेकर चिंता व्यक्त करते रहे हैं।
भारत के राष्ट्रपति ने मोबाइल एप ‘बेटी के साथ सेल्फी’ की शुरुआत की
भारत के राष्ट्रपति श्री प्रणव मुखर्जी ने आज (9 जून 2017) राष्ट्रपति भवन में बेटी के साथ सेल्फी मोबाइल एप का शुभारंभ किया।
● इस अवसर पर बोलते हुए राष्ट्रपति ने ‘बेटी के साथ सेल्फी’ मोबाइल एप शुरू करने पर श्री सुनील जगलान को बधाई दी।
● उन्होंने बताया कि हरियाण में इस अभियान की शुरुआत करने में श्री जगलान का प्रयास प्रशंसनीय है। ‘बेटी के साथ सेल्फी’ एप कन्या भ्रूण हत्या तथा लिंग जांच के विरूद्ध विश्वव्यापी आंदोलन बन गया है।
● मुझे उम्मीद है कि इससे लिंग असंतुलन के कारण उत्पन्न समस्याओं से निपटने में अंतत: सहायता मिलेगी। उन्होंने बताया कि एप एक नई अवधारणा है तथा एक भले प्रबोधन का काम है।
● उन्होंने लोगो से अपनी बेटियों के साथ फोटो खिचवा कर एप पर अपलोड करने का अनुरोध किया ताकि यह अभियान सफल हो।
● ‘बेटी के साथ सेल्फी’ अभियान की शुरूआत श्री सुनील जगलान द्वारा जून 2015 में जींद, हरियाणा के बीबीपुर गांव से की गई थी। पूर्व सरपंच श्री सुनील जगलान महिला सशक्तिकरण तथा ग्राम विकास के क्षेत्र में कार्य करते रहे हैं।
● अभियान का उद्देश्य समाज को इस प्रकार प्रेरित करना है कि माता पिता को कन्या के माता पिता होने पर गर्व हो जिसके फल स्वरूप बाल लिंग अनुपात में सुधार हो।
राष्ट्रीय स्वास्थ्य संपादकों के सम्मेलन का दूसरा संस्करण आज नई दिल्ली में आयोजित
आयुष मंत्री (स्वतंत्र प्रभार) श्री श्रीपद नाइक ने आज राष्ट्रीय मीडिया केन्द्र, नई दिल्ली में राष्ट्रीय स्वास्थ्य संपादकों के सम्मेलन के दूसरे संस्करण का उदघाटन किया। सम्मेलन का आयोजन आयुष मंत्रालय ने पत्र सूचना कार्यालय (पसूका), सूचना व प्रसारण मंत्रालय और केन्द्रीय योग तथा प्राकृतिक चिकित्सा अनुसंधान परिषद (आयुष मंत्रालय) के सहयोग से किया।
● यह आयोजन तीसरे अंतर्राष्ट्रीय योग दिवस (21 जून,2017) के समारोह के तहत किया गया। इस वर्ष के सम्मेलन का मुख्य विषय (थीम) था- “ स्वास्थ्य और सदभाव के लिए योग”।
● प्रतिभागियों को संबोधित करते हुए श्री श्रीपद नाइक ने कहा कि अंतर्राष्ट्रीय योग दिवस संभवत: एकमात्र ऐसा अवसर हैं जहाँ दुनिया भर के लोग बड़ी संख्या में आते हैं और सक्रिय भागीदारी निभाते है।
● मंत्री महोदय ने कहा कि योग में भागीदारी के प्रति रुचि और उत्साह साल दर साल तेजी से बड़ रहा हैं और योग वास्तविक अर्थ में एक घरेलू नाम हो गया हैं।
● श्री श्रीपद नाइक ने कहा कि योग की लोकप्रियता बढ़ाने का श्रेय मीडिया को भी जाता है, चाहे प्रिंट मीडिया हो, इलेक्ट्रानिक मीडिया या सोशल मीडिया हो।
● आयुष मंत्री ने कहा कि योग ने लोगों के बीच सकारात्मक स्वास्थ्य को बढ़ावा देने में वैश्विक पहचान अर्जित किया है। उन्होंने स्पष्ट करते हुए कहा कि लोगों के लिए आधुनिक अस्पतालों में उपचार कराना महंगा होता जा रहा है, इसलिए योग स्वास्थ्य देखभाल प्रणाली में अपना स्थान बना रहा है।
● मंत्री महोदय ने आगे कहा कि योग लोगों को न सिर्फ स्वस्थ बनाता है बल्कि देश स्वास्थ्य प्रणाली के बोझ को भी कम करता है।
जीएसटी को सुगमतापूर्वक लागू करने के लिए जीएसटी परिषद ने 18 क्षेत्रवार समूह गठित किए
जीएसटी परिषद की 14वीं बैठक 18-19 मई, 2017 को श्रीनगर (जम्मू-कश्मीर) में आयोजित की गई थी। इस बैठक में लिए गए निर्णय को ध्यान में रखते हुए 18 क्षेत्रवार समूह गठित किए गए हैं, ताकि वस्तु एवं सेवा कर (जीएसटी) को सुगमतापूर्वक लागू किया जा सके।
● ये क्षेत्रवार समूह देश की अर्थव्यवस्था के विभिन्न क्षेत्रों (सेक्टर) का प्रतिनिधित्व करते हैं।
● इन क्षेत्रवार समूहों में केन्द्र एवं राज्यों के वरिष्ठ अधिकारीगण शामिल हैं। इन क्षेत्रवार समूहों के गठन का मुख्य उद्देश्य सम्बन्धित क्षेत्रों (सेक्टर) के मुद्दों एवं समस्याओं को समय पर सुलझाना है, ताकि जीएसटी को सुगमतापूर्वक लागू करने में कोई भी अड़चन न आए।
● दरअसल, इन क्षेत्रवार समूहों का गठन निम्नलिखित उद्देश्यों को ध्यान में रखते हुए किया गया हैः
● सम्बन्धित सेक्टर के व्यापार एवं औद्योगिक संगठनों/निकायों से प्राप्त ज्ञापनों पर गौर करना एवं उनके साथ बैठक करना।सम्बन्धित सेक्टर द्वारा जीएसटी प्रणाली को सुगमतापूर्वक अपनाने से जुड़े विशिष्ट मुद्दों पर प्रकाश डालना।
● क्षेत्र विशेष से सम्बन्धित मसौदा मार्गदर्शन तैयार करना।
इन क्षेत्रवार कार्यसमूहों में केन्द्र एवं राज्यों के वरिष्ठ अधिकारीगण शामिल हैं।
‘सागरमाला’ देश के विकास में गेम चेंजर हैः पहली कार्यशाला राजधानी में आयोजित
शिपिंग मंत्रालय ने आज नई दिल्ली में अपने प्रमुख कार्यक्रम “सागरमाला पर अमल में तेजी लाना – राज्यों के साथ साझेदारी ” पर एक कार्यशाला आयोजित की।
● इस कार्यशाला का मुख्य उद्देश्य सागरमाला कार्यक्रम के लिए शिपिंग मंत्रालय, अन्य सम्बन्धित मंत्रालयों और भारत के विभिन्न समुद्र तटवर्ती राज्यों के बीच साझेदारी बढ़ाना था।
● इस कार्यशाला की अध्यक्षता सचिव (शिपिंग) श्री राजीव कुमार ने की और इस अवसर पर मुख्य भाषण नीति आयोग के सीईओ श्री अमिताभ कांत ने दिया।
● इस अवसर पर श्री अमिताभ कांत ने कहा कि बंदरगाह आर्थिक विकास के उत्प्रेरक साबित हो सकते हैं और इसके साथ ही वे देश में निरन्तर 10 फीसदी की आर्थिक विकास दर हासिल करने में मददगार साबित हो सकते हैं।
● अतः ऐसी स्थिति में सागरमाला कार्यक्रम देश के विकास में गेम चेंजर साबित होगा।
● चीन, कोरिया, जापान, और सिंगापुर की सफलता की गाथाओं का उल्लेख करते हुए श्री अमिताभ कांत ने कहा कि समुचित ढंग से क्रियान्वयन के लिए समस्त हितधारकों का समूह बनाने की जरूरत है और इसके साथ ही निर्यात पर केन्द्रित रणनीति बनाने की भी आवश्यकता है।
● उल्लेखनीय है कि चीन, कोरिया, जापान, और सिंगापुर में बंदरगाहों की अगुवाई में देश का तेजी से विकास हुआ है। भारत की आर्थिक विकास दर को बढ़ाकर 7.6 फीसदी के स्तर पर ले जाने के लिए वैश्विक बाजारों में पैठ बनाना आवश्यक है जिसमें केवल बंदरगाह ही महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभा सकते हैं।
● उन्होंने इस ओर ध्यान दिलाया कि भूमि कोई चुनौती नही है और मुख्य जरूरत इस बात की है कि उपलब्ध संसाधनों का इष्टतम उपयोग किया जाना चाहिए।
तमिलनाडु में कामराजार बंदरगाह नई परियोजनाओं का उद्घाटन किया गया
केन्द्रीय जहाजरानी, सड़क परिवहन एवं राज मार्ग मंत्री श्री नितिन गडकरी ने कहा कि सागरमाला के तहत तमिलनाडु में 2.5 लाख करोड़ रूपये का निवेश किया।
● इसमें से 39,000 करोड़ रूपये बंदरगाह के आधुनिकीकरण, 55,000 करोड़ रूपये बंदरगाह संपर्क एवं 1,50,000 करोड़ रूपये बंदरगाह केन्द्रित औद्योगिकीकरण के लिये होंगे।
● मंत्री महोदय ने आज चेन्नई में कामराजार बंदरगाह में यह बात कही जहां उन्होंने कई नई परियोजनाओं का उद्घाटन किया ।
● इन परियोजनाओं में 1270 करोड़ रूपये के बराबर का एक नया कंटेनर टर्मिनल, 151 करोड़ रूपये बराबर का एक नया मल्टी कार्गो टर्मिनल, 60 करोड़ रूपये के बराबर का कंटेनर तक रेल पटरी एवं मल्टी कार्गो टर्मिनल, 11.82 करोड़ रूपये के मूल्य की आरएफआईडी प्रणाली शामिल हैं।
● नया कंटेनर टर्मिनल परियोजना का विकास व्यापारियों के लिए अधिक कंटेनर हैंडलिंग सुविधा उपलब्ध करायेगा। यह बंदरगाह के आस-पास क्षेत्र में नये उद्योगों एवं सहायक उद्योगों में भी सहायता करेगा, रोजगार के नए अवसर उपलब्ध करायेगा तथा स्थानीय अर्थव्यवस्था को बढ़ावा देगा।
● नई कार्गो टर्मिनल परियोजना का विकास व्यापारियों के लिए अधिक मल्टी कार्गो हैंडलिंग सुविधा प्रदान करेगा ।
● यह बंदरगाह के आस-पास क्षेत्र में नये उद्योगों एवं सहायक उद्योगों में भी सहायता करेगा तथा स्थानीय अर्थव्यवस्था को बढ़ावा देगा। यह रोजगार के नए अवसर भी उपलब्ध करायेगा।
श्री थावरचंद गहलोत ने दिव्यांग जनों के सशक्तिकरण पर केन्द्रित “पूर्वी क्षेत्र सम्मेलन” का उद्घाटन किया
केन्द्रीय सामाजिक न्याय और अधिकरिता मंत्री श्री थावरचंद गहलोत ने आज दिव्यांग जनों के सशक्तिकरण से सम्बन्धित विषयों पर आधारित “पूर्वी क्षेत्र सम्मेलन” का उद्घाटन किया।
● यह सम्मेलन दिव्यांग जन सशक्तिकरण विभाग और सामाजिक न्याय और सशक्तिकरण मंत्रालय द्वारा आयोजित किया गया है। इस सम्मेलन में असम,अरूणाचल प्रदेश, मेघालय, मणिपुर, मिजोरम, नगालैंड, ओडिशा, सिक्किम, त्रिपुरा और पश्चिम बंगाल के प्रतिनिधियों ने हिस्सा लिया।
● इस सम्मेलन में केन्द्रीय सामाजिक न्याय और अधिकरिता राज्य मंत्री श्री कृष्णपाल गुर्जर, दिव्यांग जन सशक्तिकरण विभाग के सचिव श्री एन.एस. कंग तथा दिव्यांग जन सशक्तिकरण विभाग के केन्द्रीय अधिकारी व सम्बन्धित राज्यों के अधिकारी उपस्थित थे।
● अपने उद्घाटन भाषण में, श्री थावरचंद गहलोत कहा कि नया दिव्यांग जन अधिकार अधिनियम, 2016 ने दिव्यांग जनों के अधिकारों को व्यापकता प्रदान किया है और साथ ही साथ पुराने दिव्यांग जन अधिनियम, 1995 को निरस्त किया है।
● नया अधिनियम राज्यों/ केन्द्र शासित प्रदेशों को यह जिम्मेदारी देता है कि वे ऐसी व्यवस्था करें कि दिव्यांग सामान्य नागरिकों के समान ही अपने अधिकारों का उपयोग कर सकें। राज्य सरकारों का यह उत्तरदायित्व है कि वे दिव्यांग क्षेत्र में काम करने वाले संस्थाओं के पंजीकरण हेतु संस्थागत अवसंरचना विकसित करें।

केंद्रीय वित्त मंत्री श्री अरुण जेटली 12 जून, 2017 को राष्ट्रीय राजधानी में सार्वजनिक क्षेत्र के बैंकों के प्रदर्शन की समीक्षा करेंगे
केन्द्रीय वित्त, रक्षा और कॉरपोरेट मामलों के मंत्री श्री अरुण जेटली सार्वजनिक क्षेत्र के बैंकों (पीएसबी) के सीएमडी/सीईओ की बैठक की अध्यक्षता करेंगे। बैठक के दौरान इन बैंकों के कार्यकलापों अथवा प्रदर्शन की समीक्षा की जाएगी।
● यह बैठक 12 जून, 2017 को राष्ट्रीय राजधानी में आयोजित की जाएगी। यह चालू वित्त वर्ष 2017-18 में पहली बैठक होगी, जिसका अध्यक्षता वित्त मंत्री करेंगे।
● इस बैठक के एजेंडे के प्रमुख मुद्दों में सार्वजनिक क्षेत्र के बैंकों (पीएसबी) के फंसे कर्जों (एनपीए) से जुड़े मुद्दे एवं उनका समाधान, एमएसई को मिले कर्जों की ताजा स्थिति, स्टैंड-अप इंडिया, मुद्रा योजना इत्यादि शामिल हैं।
● एजेंडे के अन्य मुद्दों में वित्तीय समावेश एवं साक्षरता पर चर्चा, प्रधानमंत्री जीवन ज्योति बीमा योजना (पीएमजेजेबीवाई), प्रधानमंत्री सुरक्षा बीमा योजना (पीएमएसबीवाई) और अटल पेंशन योजना (एपीवाई) सहित विभिन्न सामाजिक सुरक्षा योजनाओं के प्रदर्शन की समीक्षा, इत्यादि शामिल हैं।
● इसके अलावा, इस एक दिवसीय बैठक में साइबर सुरक्षा से जुड़े मुद्दों, बैंकिंग लेन-देन के डिजिटलीकरण, ग्रामीण विकास, कृषि ऋण एवं शिक्षा ऋण इत्यादि से संबंधित मुद्दों पर भी चर्चा होगी।
● सार्वजनिक क्षेत्र के बैंकों (पीएसबी) की एक दिवसीय बैठक में वस्तु एवं सेवा कर (जीएसटी) को लागू किए जाने में बैंकों की भूमिका और उनकी तैयारियों पर भी चर्चा होने की संभावना है। जीएसटी को 1 जुलाई, 2017 से लागू करने की तैयारी चल रही है।
