Union Home Minister will inaugurate Hunar Haat on Sunday
 
●    Union Home Minister Shri Rajnath Singh will formally inaugurate 'Hunar Haat' on Baba Khadak Singh Marg, New Delhi on February 11, 2018.
●    The theme of Hunar Haat by 'Ministry of Minority Affairs' is 'Development with Honor'.
●    Whereas handcrafted and handlooms made by master craftsmen in Haat will be displayed on the same side, people will also get a glimpse of traditional Indian music.
●    'Hunar Haat' is being organized in New Delhi from 10 to 18 February.
 
 
Ash track mobile app launch
 

●    Mr. RK Singh, Minister of State for Power, New and Renewable Energy (Independent Charge) today launched a web based surveillance system and fly ash mobile app ash track.
●    This platform will be helpful in better management of ash produced by thermal power plants as it will work as a bridge between fly ash producers and potential users like road contractors, cement plants.

Policy Commission releases 'Healthy State, Progressive India' report
 
●    The Policy Commission released a comprehensive health index report entitled 'Healthy State, Progressive India'.
●    In this report, states and Union Territories have been kept in different categories on the basis of annual progress on health front and overall performance compared to each other.
●    This report is an attempt to develop a systematic method for evaluating country's performance in the health sector at an annual level on the basis of diversity and complexity.
 
 
The Defense Minister constituted a committee headed by Vinay Sheel Oberoi
 
 
●    Defense Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has recently cleared the formation of a committee to speed up and monitor the projects related to the modernization of the Armed Forces.
●    This will be a 13-member advisory committee.
●    Former Secretary of the Government Vinay Sheel Oberoi will be the chairman of this committee. His tenure will last till August 2018.
 
 
Approval of amendment proposal in MSME Development Act, 2006
 
●    The Union Cabinet approved the proposal for amendment in the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006 for changing the standards of classification on 07 February 2018.
●    This meeting took place under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
●    It is proposed to be changed from 'investment in plant and machinery or equipment' to 'annual turnover'.
●    This step will facilitate business and rules of classified growth will be created and new tax system will be in the realm of GST.
 
 

Cabinet approval for changes in Major Port Authority Bill, 2016
 
 
●    Under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Union Cabinet has approved the inclusion of official amendments in the pending Major Port Authority Bill-2013.
●    This amendment is based on the recommendations of the Departmental Parliamentary Standing Committee.
●    The number of labor representatives to be appointed to the Port Authority board serving employees Ttn that went increased from one to two.
 
 

Happiness Syllabus begins in Delhi's government schools
 
 
●    The Delhi Government has announced the introduction of a new topic of Happiness Course for students from nursery to class VIII.
●    This course will be applicable to all schools of Delhi Government from next session.

19.3 percent increase in direct tax collection in fiscal year 2017-18


●    According to the provisional data from the direct tax collections till January 2018, it has shown that during the period, the net collection has reached Rs 6.95 lakh crore, which is 19.3 percent higher than the net collection of direct taxes in the same period last year.
●    Net collection of direct taxes is 69.2 percent of the revised estimates of direct taxes for the financial year 2017-18.
●    During the period from April, 2017 to January 2018, the gross collection of direct taxes has increased by 13.3 percent to the level of 8.21 lakh crore.
