Prime Minister Launches Expansion of National Mission on Nutrition and Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Campaign in Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan


●        Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today inaugurated the National Nutrition Mission in Jhunjhunu of Rajasthan on the occasion of International Women's Day and also started the expansion of Beti Bachao Beti Teacha Campaign at the national level.
●        Addressing a huge public gathering on this occasion, the Prime Minister said that through the technology, the entire country has joined Jhunjhunu today.
 
 12-day 'Capacity Building for Election Management' organized for ITEC countries


●        India is organizing 12 day training program 'Capacity Building for Election Management' under the International Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) program of the Ministry of International Policy for Democracy and Electoral Education (IIIDEM), Ministry of External Affairs.
●        This program will run from 05 to 16 March 2018.
●        21 senior officers of 21 countries of ITec are participating in this program.
●        Inaugurating the program, Deputy Election Commissioner Mr. Sudip Jain welcomed the participants.
●        Representatives are discussing the best election processes in their countries.
 
 
Launch of 'Oxy-biodegradable Sanitary Neptune' of Rs 2.50

●        Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers and Parliamentary Affairs, Mr. Ananth Kumar today announced the launch of 'Oxy-Biodegradable Sanitary Neptune' facility fully under the Prime Minister's Indian Public-Disposal Project (PMBJP) here today.
●        This affordable sanitary napkin will be available at 3200 public-drug centers across the country for Rs 2.50 per pad and it will ensure cleanliness, health and facilities for the deprived women of India.
 

Enterprises Portal for Women Entrepreneurs Launched


●        On the occasion of International Women's Day, the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, today, on behalf of MSME, for the Indian women entrepreneurs, www.udyamsakhi.org . A portal was started in the name of

Indian workers of Indian Railways (Group-D & C) were honored for outstanding services


●        On the occasion of International Women's Day, the Railway Women Welfare Central Organization (RW&CO) today honored 32 women personnel for their outstanding services.
●        These women are working in different railway zones in the form of Trek Maintainer, Technician, Loco Pilot, Hand Constable, Chief Metrine, Senior Messenger, Computer Operator, Sailor and Cleaning Worker.
●        On this occasion, a few prominent persons working in the field of empowerment of women were also honored.
 
Announcement of implementation of widower pension in Haryana


●        The Haryana government has announced the implementation of widower pension in Haryana during the budget session in the Vidhan Sabha on 07 March 2018.
●        The Haryana government can implement this scheme in the coming financial year.
●        During the Question Hour in the Haryana Assembly, MLA Rabindra Fisherauli raised this issue in response to which the state's social justice and empowerment minister Krishan Kumar Bedi announced the implementation of this pension soon.
 
India's first female operated railway station


●        Regarding the empowerment of women, Matunga railway station of Central Railway has set a new example in July 2017.
●        This is the first woman station in the country where only female employees are deployed.
●        For this Matunga has been registered in the Limca Book of Records 2018.

Republican delegation of Republic of Korea meet with President


●        The parliamentary delegation of the Republic of Korea under the leadership of Mr. Chung Psikun, President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea met today (08 March 2018) President Mr. Ramnath Kovind at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
●        Welcoming the delegation, the President said that India and South Korea share the same democratic values and society financially. There is also a unique combination of strategic interests.
 

Indo-Pak agree on releasing prisoners of each other


●        With the women prisoners between India and Pakistan, there is an agreement on the release of prisoners aged less than 18 years of age and above 60 years of age.
●        In addition to sending them home, there has been consensus on human proposals to restore the joint judicial committee's visit.

Japan will hire 2 lakh Indian IT professionals

Government employees increase dearness allowance to 7%


●        The Central Government has announced a big relief to lakhs of government employees, which has announced increase of dearness allowance (DA) by two percent.
●        This will benefit lakhs of employees and pensioners of the Center.
●        It was decided in this context in the Cabinet meeting on 07 March 2018 by the Central Government.
●        Earlier, the dearness allowance was 5% which would now be increased to 7%.
 

 
Government to raise Rs 66 billion by leasing 10 national highways


●        The government is planning to raise about Rs 66 billion by leasing 10 and National Highways.
●        This amount will be used for road construction.
●        National Highways Authority of India Member (Finance) Rohit Kumar Singh said that bids will be floated in April for this second round of lease to the ownership of the government's proprietary rights.
●        These highways will be given toll-operated, on the transfer model.
 

FDI in defense production in 4 years: 1.17 crores
 
●        Under the 'Make in India', only 1.17 crore foreign direct investment has come in the country in defense production sector in the last four years.
●        During this same period, India has signed 70 contracts worth 1.25 lakh crore for arms purchase from abroad.
●        These include radar and missile from Israel, aircraft and cannon from America, rockets and simulators from Russia.
 

Government seeks additional spending of Rs 85,315 crore from Parliament


●        The government sought permission from Parliament to spend additional amount of Rs 85,315 crore in the current financial year ending this month.
●        Applying this additional expenditure to 70% of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) will have to compensate the losses of the states due to revenue loss.
●        Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Arjun Ram Meghwal presented a fourth batch of supplementary demand for grants in the Lok Sabha.
