India's Longest Cable-Bridge Inaugurated in Gujarat
After the end of the campaigning in Varanasi on Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi headed to Gujarat for a two-day visit today.
● In the first day of the visit, PM Modi inaugurated the 1.4 extra dose cable bridge on the Ahmedabad-Mumbai National Highway.
● The 1344 metres long and 22.8 metres wide bridge project was completed in the time span of two years.
● The project was supposed to be ready by August 2016 but the project was slightly delayed and it was completed by September 2016.
● The project was built by Larsen and Turbo and it took Rs 379 crore to complete the project of the National Highway Authority of India.
The bridge has 25 to 40 meter long cables. The bridge consists a total of 216 such cables.

Mumbai Has Most Number of Billionaires in India
India's financial capital Mumbai, home to 45,000 millionaires and 28 billionaires, is the wealthiest city in the country with total wealth of $820 billion, says a report.
● According to New World Wealth, Mumbai is followed by Delhi and Bengaluru at the second and third place respectively.
● While Delhi, home to 22,000 millionaires and 18 billionaires has total wealth of $450 billion, Bengaluru boasts of a total wealth of $320 billion. The city is home to 7,500 millionaires and 8 billionaires.
● Total wealth refers to the private wealth held by all individuals.
● The report defines 'wealth' as the net assets of a person. It includes all their assets (property, cash, equity, business interests) less any liabilities. The report excludes government funds from its figures.

OPPO to Replace Star India as Team India Sponsor for 5 Years
Irrespective of the administration tangles that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) finds itself as far as the implementation of the Lodha Committee report is concerned, the world’s richest cricket board only got richer on Tuesday.
● Oppo mobile manufacturer emerged as the highest bidder for the Team India sponsor as the BCCI raked in an all-time figures. The deal was struck as India battled it out against Australia for a series-levelling 75-run win in the second Test in Bangalore.
● Oppo has paid Rs 1079 crore for a five-year deal, outbidding Vivo mobiles’ Rs 768 crore bid.
● Oppo will pay Rs 4.61 crore per bilateral match and Rs 1.56 crore for an ICC event match. Sahara was the previous highest bidder for Team India sponsorship with Rs 3.34 crore per match.
● STAR India paid Rs 1.92 crore per bilateral match and Rs 61 lakh for an ICC match.
● Oppo’s logo will don the Team India jersey and training gears from April 1.
The current India team sponsorship deal with Star India will end in March 31.

The 2017 International Women's Day ((IWD)) was observed across the world on 8 March 2017.
● The year's theme for the Day is Women in the Changing World of Work: Planet 50-50 by 2030.
● The idea of the theme is to consider how to accelerate the 2030 Agenda, building momentum for the effective implementation of the new Sustainable Development Goals, especially goal number 5: Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls; and number 4: Ensure inclusive and quality education for all and promote lifelong learning.
● The 2017 International Women's Day was observed in India by conferring the Nari Shakti Awards to 31 individuals and organisations that are working towards empowering women.
● The President of India Pranab Mukherjee presented the awards at the Rashtrapati Bhawan.

Hyderabad Airport Ranks 1st in World in Service Quality
GMR's Hyderabad International Airport has secured first position in the world in the prestigious Airports Council International (ACI)-Airport Service Quality (ASQ) survey in the 5-15 million passengers per annum (MPPA) category for the year 2016.
● The survey shows that Hyderabad Airport has steadily improved its score from 4.4 in 2009 to 4.9 in 2016 (measured on scale of 1 to 5), according to a GHIAL statement.
● S G K Kishore, CEO, GHIAL, thanked the passengers and its stakeholders including Ministry of Civil Aviation, CISF, airlines, immigration and customs.
● Hyderabad Airport, running in to its 9th year of operations, is designed to cater to 12 million passengers in a year.
● It has witnessed a growth of more than 20 per cent in the last year with a passenger throughput of close to 15MPPA in calendar year 2016.

Aishwarya Rai Wins Best Actress for Sarbjit at International Film Fest
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s film Sarbjit has given her yet another reason to celebrate.
● The actor who played the character of Sarabjit Singh’s sister Dalbir Kaur, has won the Best Actress award at the International Film Festival and Awards of Australia (IFFAA).
● Aishwarya was seen in a de-glam look in the film, which left the audience in shock.
Sarbjit The Film, directed by Omung Kumar, was the biopic on Sarabjit Singh, an Indian farmer who was convicted of terrorism and spying in Pakistan and was sentenced to death.
● He was attacked by inmates at a prison in Lahore in April 2013 and died a few days later. The film showcased his journey inside the jail, and his sister’s unending fight to free him.
● The film was critically acclaimed but also received mixed reviews from the audience. However, Aishwarya as Dalbir and Randeep Hooda as Sarabjit won hearts of the audience across the nation.

Environment Minister launches Web Portal for obtaining CRZ Clearances
The Minister of State (Independent Charge) of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Shri Anil Madhav Dave, launched the web portal for obtaining Coastal Regulation Zone clearances, here today.
● The Minister termed the launch of the portal as a good example of ‘Ease of Doing Business’.
● The Portal is a web-based system for obtaining clearances required from the Ministry under the “Coastal Regulation Zone” (CRZ) by the Project proponents.
● The system will enable the Project proponents and the concerned State/Union Territory bodies like the State Coastal Zone Management Authorities (SCZMAs) and Municipal/Town Planning agencies in tracking the status of their proposals.
● The system is based on web architecture, similar to the existing systems in place for according environmental and forest clearances.

Prestigious Nari Shakti Puraskars given away to 33 women by the President
The President, Shri Pranab Mukherjee presented Nari Shakti Puraskars 2016 at a special ceremony/function held in New Delhi on the occasion of International Women’s Day today.
● The awards were presented to 33 women in recognition of their efforts in rendering distinguished services for the cause of women, especially vulnerable and marginalized women.
● Speaking on the occasion the President that Government is equally concerned at the rising rate of violent crimes against women.
● It is inexcusable that women in India do not feel as secure and safe as they should. A greater emphasis on early sensitization of children and youth in schools and institutions of higher learning would help inculcate due respect for the female gender.
● This should be taken up through appropriate measures in our rural and urban populations and through well-conceived and coherent Government programmes.
● The President said that on International Women’s Day, it is important to reiterate that every girl child and woman in our country should be assured that Government of India is fully committed to providing her an enabling environment that affords equal opportunity.

पीएम नरेंद्र मोदी ने गुजरात के भरूच में देश के सबसे लंबे केबल पुल का उद्घाटन किया
पीएम नरेंद्र मोदी ने भरूच जिले में नर्मदा नदी पर चार लेन के एक पुल का उद्घाटन किया.
● इस पुल का निर्माण अहमदाबाद-मुम्बई राष्ट्रीय राजमार्ग पर यातायात को सुगम बनाने के लिए किया गया है.
● यह देश का सबसे लंबा एक्स्ट्रा डाज्ड केबल ब्रिज है.
● इसकी लंबाई 1344 मीटर है और चौड़ाई 20.8 मीटर है.
● इसे बनाने में 2 साल लगे जबकि 379 करोड़ रुपये का खर्च हुआ.
● इसके अहमदाबाद-मुंबई नेशनल हाइवे-8 पर भरूच में लगने वाले जाम से मुक्ति मिलेगी.
● इस ब्रीज पर हमेशा से जाम लगता रहा है लेकिन दो साल से ज्यादा लग रहा था क्योंकि यहां ब्रीज का काम चल रहा था.
मुंबई में अरबपतियों की संख्या सबसे अधिक है
पिछले साल नवंबर में प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी द्वारा की गई नोटबंदी की घोषणा से बड़े मूल्य के नोट बंद किए जाने के बाद से देश मे अरबपतियों की संख्या में 11 की कमी आई है. हालांकि, इस दौरान देश में अरबपतियों की कुल संपदा में उल्लेखनीय इजाफा हुआ है.
● हालांकि मुकेश अंबानी 26 अरब डॉलर (175,400 करोड़ रुपये) की संपदा के साथ सबसे अमीर व्यक्ति बने हुए हैं. मंगलवार को जारी एक अध्ययन में यह आंकड़ा सामने आया है.
● हुरन ग्लोबल रिच लिस्ट इंडिया के अध्ययन में कहा गया है कि भारत में 132 अरबपति हैं, जिनकी कुल संपदा एक अरब डॉलर या अधिक है. कुल मिलाकर भारत में अरबपतियों की कुल संपत्ति 392 अरब डॉलर आंकी गई है.
● अन्य लोगों में 12 अरब डॉलर की संपदा के साथ पल्लोनजी मिस्त्री चौथे, लक्ष्मी निवास मित्तल पांचवे (12 अरब डॉलर), शिव नादर छठे (12 अरब डॉलर), साइरस पूनावाला सातवें (11 अरब डॉलर), अजीम प्रेमजी आठवें (9.7 अरब डॉलर), उदय कोटक नौवें (7.2 अरब डॉलर) और डेविड रबेन और साइमन रबेन दसवें (6.7 अरब डॉलर) स्थान पर हैं.
● पिछले साल आठ नवंबर को नोटबंदी के बाद देश में अरबपतियों की संख्या में 11 की कमी आई है. मुंबई में 42, दिल्ली में 21 और अहमदाबाद में 9 अरबपति हैं. बंबई सहित महाराष्ट्र में कुल मिला कर 51 अरबपति है.
स्टार इंडिया की जगह ‘ओपो’ बना टीम इंडिया का नया प्रायोजक
मोबाइल निर्माता कंपनी ओपो आज भारतीय क्रिकेट टीम की नई प्रायोजक बनी जो दिग्गज प्रसारण कंपनी स्टार इंडिया की जगह लेगी।
● बीसीसीआई ने बयान में कहा, ‘‘बीसीसीआई को यह घोषणा करते हुए खुशी हो रही है कि ओपो मोबइल्स इंडिया प्राइवेट लिमिटेड भारतीय क्रिकेट टीम का नया टीम प्रायोजक बन गया है।''
● बोर्ड ने कहा, ‘‘बीसीसीआई के साथ मोबाइल निर्माता ओपो की साझेदारी अप्रैल 2017 से शुरू होगी जो पांच साल के लिए होगी।''
● स्टार इंडिया ने इससे पहले स्पष्ट कर दिया था कि वह अपने प्रायोजक करार को आगे बढ़ाने की कोशिश नहीं करेगा जो अगले महीने खत्म हो रहा है, कंपनी ने इस फैसले के लिए बोर्ड के साथ प्रतिबद्धताओं को लेकर मतभेद को कारण बताया था।
● स्टार इंडिया 2013 में सहारा की जगह भारतीय क्रिकेट टीम का प्रायोजक बना था, जिसे बोर्ड ने अयोग्य घोषित किया था। टीम प्रायोजक को भारत की पुरुष और महिला टीम की किट पर अपना व्यावसायिक लोगो लगाने का अधिकार होगा।

● महिला दिवस मनाने का उद्देश्य नारी को समाज की कुरीतियों से बाहर निकालकर उसे विकसित होने का सुअवसर प्रदान करना है।
● आज 8 मार्च को दुनिया भर में अंतरराष्ट्रीय महिला दिवस मनाया जाता है।
● महिला दिवस मनाने का सीधा मतलब यह है कि इस दिन महिलाओं के प्रति सम्मान , प्रशंसा और प्यार का भाव प्रकट करते हुए इस दिन को महिलाओं के आर्थिक , राजनीतिक और सामाजिक उपलब्धियों को सम्मानित किया जाता है।
● दुनिया के अलग-अलग संस्थानों के साथ-साथ सरकारी संस्थानों द्वारा भी महिला सशक्तिकरण पर आधारित कार्यक्रमों का आयोजन करती है, और महिलाओं को सम्मानित भी किया जाता है।

हवाईअड्डा सेवा की गुणवत्ता के मामले में हैदराबाद एयरपोर्ट का दुनिया में पहला स्थान
जीएमआर समूह का राजीव गाँधी हैदराबाद अंतर्राष्ट्रीय हवाईअड्डे को प्रतिष्ठित एयरपोर्ट काउंसिल इंटरनेशनल (एसीआई) के एयरपोर्ट सर्विस क्वालिटी (एएसक्यू) वर्ष 2016 के लिए सर्वे में 5-15 मिलियन यात्री प्रतिवर्ष श्रेणी में दुनिया में पहला स्थान मिला है.
● जीएमआर के हैदराबाद अंतर्राष्ट्रीय हवाईअड्डा लिमिटेड (जीएचआईआईएएल) के अनुसार, सर्वेक्षण से पता चलता है कि हैदराबाद एयरपोर्ट ने लगातार अपने स्कोर में सुधार किया है, जो 2009 में 4.4 था और 2016 में यह 4.9 था.
● इसके अलावा, दिल्ली स्थित इंदिरा गांधी अंतर्राष्ट्रीय हवाई अड्डा (आईजीआईए), सालाना 40 लाख से अधिक यात्री यात्रियों को सँभालने की क्षमता की श्रेणी में दुनिया का दूसरा सबसे अच्छा हवाई अड्डा है.
● हैदराबाद एयरपोर्ट, अपने संचालन के 9 वें वर्ष में प्रवेश कर रहा है। इसे एक साल में 12 मिलियन यात्रियों को सँभालने के लिए बनाया गया था।

इंटरनेशनल फिल्म फेस्ट में सरबजीत के लिए ऐश्वर्या राय सर्वश्रेष्ठ अभिनेत्री घोषित
सरबजीत में आप सभी ने ऐश्वर्या राय को दलबीर कौर के किरदार में देखा था। इस फिल्म ने कई लोगों का दिल जीता था।
● उन्होंने एक ऐसी बहन का किरदार निभाया था जो अपने भाई को बेगुनाह साबित करने की तमाम कोशिशें करती रहती है।
● अपने भाई को पाकिस्तान की जेल से बाहर निकालने के लिए वो सिस्टम से लड़ती है। सरबजीत ने गलती से बॉर्डर क्रॉस कर लिया था और उन्हें पाकिस्तानी रेंजर्स ने आतंकी गतिविधियों में लिप्त होने के कथित आरोप लगाते हुए अपनी कस्टडी में रख लिया था। फिल्म को दर्शकों से मिली जुली प्रतिक्रिया मिली थी।
● मगर ऐश्वर्या के किरदार की काफी सराहना की गई थी। अब एक्ट्रेस के फैंस के लिए खुश होने की एक और वजह है।
● दरअसल, राय को सरबजीत के लिए इंटरनेशनल फिल्म फेस्टिवल एंड अवॉर्ड्स ऑफ ऑस्ट्रेलिया (आईएफएफएए) में बेस्ट एक्ट्रेस का अवॉर्ड मिला है।इस फिल्म को ओमंग कुमार ने डायरेक्ट किया था। यह फिल्म भारतीय नागरिक सरबजीत के जीवन पर आधारित थी।
● जिसे पाकिस्तान की सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने जासूसी के आरोप में मृत्यु दंड की सजा सुनाई थी। इस फिल्म में रणदीप हुड्डा, ऋचा चढ्ढा और दर्शन कुमार नजर आए थे।
पर्यावरण मंत्री ने सीआरजेड मंजूरी के लिए वेबपोर्टल का शुभारंभ किया
पर्यावरण, वन और जलवायु परिवर्तन राज्य मंत्री श्री अनिल माधव ने आज यहां तटीय विनियमन क्षेत्र (सीआरजेड) के लिये मंजूरी पाने के लिए वेब पोर्टल का शुभारम्भ किया। मंत्री महोदय ने पोर्टल के शुभारम्भ को ‘कारोबार करने में सुगमता’ का अच्छा उदाहरण बताया।
● यह पोर्टल परियोजना प्रस्तावकों के लिए ‘तटीय विनियमन क्षेत्र’ के अंतर्गत मंत्रालय से आवश्यक मंजूरी प्राप्त करने के लिए वेब आधारित प्रणाली है। इस प्रणाली से परियोजना प्रस्तावकों और राज्य तटीय क्षेत्र प्रबंधन प्राधिकरण (एससीजेडएमए) तथा नगरपालिका/नगर नियोजन एजेंसियों जैसे संबंधित राज्य/केन्द्र शासित प्रदेशों के निकायों को अपने प्रस्तावों की स्थिति जानने में मदद मिलेगी। पर्यावरण और वन मंजूरी प्रदान करने की मौजूदा प्रणाली के समान ही यह प्रणाली वेब आधरित है।
● यह पोर्टल उपयोगकर्ता के लिए काफी सुविधाजनक है, जिससे एक ही खिड़की के जरिए सीआरजेड मंजूरी के लिए आवेदन जमा कराने में और मंजूरी से संबंधित त्वरित जानकारी पाने मदद मिलेगी। इस पोर्टल में भविष्य के सभी संदर्भों के लिए प्रत्येक प्रस्ताव को अलग पहचान दी गई है। यह इंटरनेट सुविधा के साथ किसी भी कम्प्यूटर पर उपलब्ध है।
● वेबपोर्टल के उद्देश्यों में दक्षता बढ़ाना, सीआरजेड मंजूरी की प्रक्रिया में पारदर्शीता और जिम्मेदारी लाना, सीआरजेड मंजूरी प्रस्तावों की स्थिति के बारे में सही समय पर जानकारी उपलब्ध करवाने के जरिए जवाबदेही बढ़ाना, कारोबार करने में सुगमता लाना और सूचनाओं तथा सेवाओं तक नागरिकों की सुविधाजनक पहुंच बढ़ाना, केन्द्र और राज्य स्तर पर विधियों और प्रक्रियाओं को मानकीकृत करना शामिल है।
● इसके अलावा ज्वार-भाटे के बारे में अधिसूचना, सीआरजेड-1 के अंतर्गत आने वाले पारिस्थितिकीय रूप से संवेदी क्षेत्र, खतरे की रेखा जैसी कई अन्य पहलों पर कार्य चल रहा है। इन सब कदमों का उद्देश्य पक्षपात कम करना और सभी स्तरों पर जवाबदेही बढ़ाना है।
Prestigious Nari Shakti Puraskars given away to 33 women by the President
राष्ट्रपति श्री प्रणब मुखर्जी ने अंतर्राष्ट्रीय महिला दिवस के अवसर पर आज नई दिल्ली में आयोजित एक विशेष समारोह में नारी शक्ति पुरस्कार 2016 प्रदान किए। ये पुरस्कार महिलाओं के प्रयोजन, विशेष रूप से वंचित तथा सीमांत वर्गों की महिलाओं के कल्याण की दिशा में विशिष्ट सेवाओं को प्रदान करने में उनके प्रयासों की सराहना करते हुए प्रदान किये गये हैं।
● राष्ट्रपति महोदय ने इस अवसर पर कहा कि सरकार भी महिलाओं के खिलाफ हिंसक अपराधों की बढ़ती दर से चिंतित है। यह बात क्षमा योग्य नहीं है कि उतनी सुरक्षित एवं महफूज नहीं महसूस करती, जितनी उन्हें करनी चाहिए। उन्होंने कहा कि विद्यालयों तथा उच्चतर शिक्षा के संस्थानों में बच्चों एवं युवाओं को संवेदनशील बनाने पर विशेष जोर दिये जाने से उनमें महिलाओं के प्रति समुचित सम्मान की भावना पैदा करने में मदद मिलेगी।
● उन्होंने कहा कि इसे हमारे ग्रामीण एवं शहरी आबादी समुचित उपायों तथा सुविचारित एवं समन्वित सरकारी कार्यक्रमों के द्वारा उपयुक्त कदम उठाये जाने के जरिये प्रारंभ किया जा सकता है।
● राष्ट्रपति महोदय ने कहा कि अंतर्राष्ट्रीय महिला दिवस के अवसर पर यह दोहराना महत्वपूर्ण है कि हमारे देश की प्रत्येक बालिका एवं महिला को यह भरोसा होना चाहिए कि भारत सरकार उसे एक सक्षमकारी वातावरण उपलब्ध कराने के प्रति पूरी तरह प्रतिबद्ध है, जो उसे समान अवसर प्रदान करता है।
● केन्द्रीय महिला एवं बाल विकास मंत्री श्रीमती मेनका संजय गांधी ने अपने संबोधन में देश में महिलाओं को मिलने वाले सर्वोच्च पुरस्कार प्राप्त करने वाली महिलाओं को बधाई दी। उन्होंने कहा कि इस वर्ष पुरस्कारों के चयन का मानदंड वैसे अज्ञात अचीवर्स की असाधारण उपलब्धियों की खोज करना था, जिन्होंने अपनी अदम्य भावना से नारीत्व के साहस को प्रदर्शित किया है। श्रीमती मेनका संजय गांधी ने कहा कि ‘पुरस्कार प्राप्त करने वाली इनमें से प्रत्येक महिला की कहानी एक संघर्ष का प्रतिनिधित्व करती है।
● यह ऐसी कहानी है कि जो बताती है कि किस प्रकार उन्होंने भीषण बाधाओं के बावजूद अपने दिल की आवाज सुनी और अपनी उपलब्धियों की बदौलत अपने समुदाय के जीवन में एक अन्तर पैदा कर दिया।
