Two-day conference with the help of CII on the opportunities for livelihood


●    The Policy Commission today organized a two-day conference with the cooperation of the Confederation of Indian Industry on the subject of employment and livelihood opportunities at the Dr. Ambedkar International Center in the capital.
●    Vice President Shri Venkaiah Naidu will address the inaugural session this evening.
●    Union Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Shri Giriraj Singh, Union Petroleum and Skill Development Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan and Union Rural Development Minister Shri Narendra Singh Tomar will be present on this occasion.
 
Showing junk food ads on cartoon channels restricted
 
●    An important decision taken by the central government in relation to junk food has said that this advertisement will no longer be shown on cartoon channels.
●    Under this, nine companies will not show advertisements for any kind of junk food and soft drinks on children's cartoons and other channels.
●    The companies have also welcomed this decision of the government. Nine companies, including Nestle and Coca Cola, have said they will follow it.

'Digital Citizenship' course started


●    Google India has announced to integrate a course on "Digital Citizenship and Security" in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) curriculum in schools in partnership with the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) on February 06, 2018.
●    The purpose of this program is to make students responsible citizens and to make them stay away from cyber crime.
●    This initiative being done by NCERT and Google on this subject will be implemented in various schools.

Nexus startup hub to be opened in Delhi
 
●    There is no need to go to the US to know how American startups are successful .
●    The US Embassy has announced to launch the Nexus startup hub in the capital's American Center on Thursday.
●    Its aim is to give Indian startup information about America's best startup system and to create a favorable environment for Indian entrepreneurs.
●    At present, 9 companies have been selected for long term incubation.

Nuclear energy cooperation with Canada
 
●    An agreement was reached on June 27, 2010 for peaceful use of nuclear energy between the Government of India and the Canadian Government.
●    During the Prime Minister's visit to Canada on April 15, 2015, the Indian Government signed an agreement with the Canadian M / s CAMCO Company for supply of uranium ore during 2015-2020.
●    Atomic technology is under development and is being used in areas such as healthcare, agriculture, food conservation, waste generation, besides waste management, including waste management.

Inauguration of two-day Third Global Public Purchase Conference in the National Capital
 
●    The Minister of State for Finance and Shipping, Shri P. Radhakrishnan said that the Government of India gives importance to fairness, transparency and accountability in public procurement and it has increased the expectations of the citizens in the public expenditure and the result of efficiency and results.
●    He said that in view of public procurement and distribution of public services the present center government's vision is clear.
 
 
1,86,777 affordable housing for the urban poor approved by PMAY 


●    Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has approved the construction of 1,86,777 and affordable houses in the interest of the urban poor under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) with an investment of Rs 11,169 crore with central assistance of Rs. 2797 crore.
●    This amount was approved yesterday in the 30th meeting of the Central Approval and Monitoring Committee (CSMC).

CCI imposes penalty of Rs 135.86 crores on Google
 
●    The Competition Commission of India has found Google guilty of misuse of its strong position in the online search and advertising market and has imposed a fine of Rs 135.86 crore on the company.
●    The CCI said that Google has imposed a penalty on antitrust activity.
●    Google was accused of behaving and manipulating the search because of its strong position in online search.

Khaleda Jia gets five-year jail
 
●    A court in Bangladesh on Thursday sentenced former Prime Minister and opposition leader Khaleda Zia to five years in jail for corruption
●    A special judge of the country's highest security in the country, sentenced the president of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) to a fine of $ 2.52 billion for embezzlement.
●    This donation amount was sent from abroad to the name of 'Jia orphanage Trust'.

Rear Admiral Mukul Asthana, N.M. took over as Assistant Chief Naval Staff
 
●    Rear Admiral Mukul Asthana, NM has been appointed as Assistant Chief Naval Staff (Air) in New Delhi.
●    He was commissioned in the executive branch of the Indian Navy in 1986.
●    He graduated from the Naval Academy and he did 141 pilots and was given wings in the Air Force Academy in June 1988.
 
 
Rear Admiral SC Verma, VSM took over as Naval Assistant Chief


●    Rear Admiral SC Verma, VSM took charge of Naval Assistant Chief (special submarine project) in the Ministry of Defense (Navy), the headquarters of the Unified Headquarters in New Delhi.
●    He is a graduate of National Defense Academy, Pune, India (1986), Defense Services Staff College, Wellington, India (2002) and Naval War College, Mumbai, India (2009).
●    He was commissioned on July 1, 1987 in the Indian Navy.
●    He specialized in navigation and direction in 1993.

India beat China in Fed Cup
 
●    World number 120 Lynn Zhu managed to defeat Ankita Raina but despite this, India had to face defeat 1-2 against China in the Asia-Oceania Group One Fed Cup tournament.
