Approval of Mediation and Conciliation (Amendment) Bill, 2018


●        The Union Cabinet has approved the introduction of mediation and reconciliation legislation, 2018 in the Lok Sabha.
●        It is part of the government's effort to encourage institutional arbitration to resolve disputes and it makes India a center of strong alternative dispute resolution (ADR) system.
●        The amendment to the Act of 1996 will help in achieving the goal of improving institutional mediation by setting a standard, facilitating the arbitration process, and establishing an independent institution to execute the matter in a timely manner.

Business Division, Business Division and High Court Division of Business Division (Amendment) Bill 2018

●        In order to present the Union Cabinet under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Business Division, Commercial Division and High Courts have approved the Business Division (Amendment) Bill 2018.
●        In the Bill, the specified value of commercial dispute has been reduced to Rs. 3 lakhs from the current one crore rupees.
●        This will reduce the time it takes to solve lesser commercial disputes (at present 1445 days) and improve the ranking of India in Is of Doing Business.

Approval of Memorandum of Understanding between Union Public Service Commission and Public Service Commission of Mauritius


●        The Union Cabinet has approved the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Union Public Service Commission and the Public Service Commission of Mauritius.

●        The Union Cabinet was apprised of the agreement on cooperation between India and Helenik in renewable energy sector.
●        This MoU was signed in November 2017 during the visit of His Excellency Foreign Minister, His Excellency Nicos Kottajeet to New Delhi.
●        On behalf of India, the MoD was signed by External Affairs Minister Smt. Sushma Swaraj and Helenik Foreign Minister HE NICHOS Kottajeet.

Freedom Sainik Samman Yojana (SSY) approved to continue during 2017-2020


●        The Union Cabinet has approved the continuation of Freedom Sainik Samman Yojana (SSY) during the 2017-2020 even after the 12th Five Year Plan.

Central Government employees sanctioned 2 percent dearness allowance
