President addresses the 34th Annual Session of FICCI Women's Association


●        President Shri Ramnath Kovind today addressed the 34th Annual Session of FICCI Women's Organization in New Delhi today (05th April, 2018).
●        On this occasion the President said that half of our country is women.
●        Women contribute to our economy by working in various ways in the workplace and at home.
●        The President said that if more women become part of the labor force then both domestic income and our growth rate will accelerate.
 
Suresh Prabhu launches first flight from Delhi to Pathankot


●        The first flight from Delhi to Pathankot was inaugurated today in a dignified presence of Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Shri Vijay Sapla, by the Minister of Commerce and Industry and Civil Aviation, Shri Suresh Prabhu in a function organized at Terminal 3 of IGI Airport, New Delhi.
●        With this, the flight has now started operating at Pathankot Airport as 21st airport under RCS (Regional Connectivity Scheme).
●        The Airports Authority of India (AAI) is the implementing agency of 'Flight'.
 
 Piyush Goyal launched the Uttam App for Monitoring the Quality of Coal


●        Union Minister for Railways and Coal, Shri Piyush Goyal today launched the uttam app for monitoring the quality of coal.
●        uttam means - To get transparency, the coal obtained by mining is evaluated by third party (Unlocking Transparency by Third Party Assessment of Mind Coal).
●        Coal Ministry and Coal India Limited (CIL) have developed the uttam app.
 

56 new airports will start working in the next few years
 
●        Shri Suresh Prabhu, Union Minister of Commerce & Industry and Civil Aviation has said that good logistics is important for dealing with business activities in countries like India and to be integrated with the domestic and world economy.
●        Keeping this in mind, 56 new airports will start working in the next few years.
●        Suresh Prabhu was addressing the two-day Global Logistics Summit in New Delhi today.

Organizing Sanitary Pakhwada 2018 in the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs from April 5


●        Today, the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs is celebrating Sanatana Pakhwada from April 5, under the Swachh Bharat Mission.
●        Central Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Conservation and Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs, Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal today held discussions with the MPs on the programs and activities to be organized during the cleanliness fortnight.

Prime Minister will inaugurate the International Energy Forum in New Delhi


●        India will host the Ministerial meeting of the 16th International Energy Forum (IEF) held in New Delhi from 10 to 12 April 2018.
●        Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will formally inaugurate the meeting on April 11, 2018.
●        Petroleum ministers from 42 countries will participate in the meeting.
●        The IEF Ministerial Conference, which takes place twice a year, is the largest conference of energy ministers in the world to discuss issues related to global energy.
 
Samata Day was celebrated


●        On the occasion of 111th birth anniversary of Babu Jagjivan Ram, a tribute ceremony was organized by Babuji Jagjivan Ram National Foundation on the occasion of Samata near Rajghat.
●        Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment and Chairman of Babu Jagjivan Ram National Foundation, Shri Thawar Chand Gehlot, Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Shri Ramdas Athawale, former Chairman of Lok Sabha, Smt. Human Rights Protection (Amendment) Bill, 2018 has been approved
 
●        For the better protection and promotion of human rights in the country on April 04, 2018, the Union Cabinet approved the Human Rights Protection (Amendment) Bill, 2018 under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
●        In the bill, it is proposed to include the National Child Rights Protection Commission as an honorary member of the Commission.
●        Bill proposes to add a woman member to the Commission's formation.


Extras got 20th aircraft
 
●        Vistara got its 20th aircraft on Wednesday. Airbus A320 Neo is included in the company's fleet.
●        After this aircraft, Vistara has completed the rule of at least 20 aircraft flying abroad.
●        The company said that it has ordered two more A320 Neo aircraft to increase the number of aircraft in its fleet.

●        Defense Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman is on a three-day trip to Russia from 03 to 5 April 2018 to participate in the 7th Moscow Conference on International Security.
●        The Defense Minister addressed the second full session of the Conference on 'Global Security in a Polycentric World' on April 04.
●        These included aspects related to defense, security and strategic scenario in the present world.

●        The 21st Commonwealth Games were started on April 04, 2018 in the Gold Coast city on the coast with a colorful opening ceremony in Australia.
●        British Prince Charles participated in the inaugural ceremony and in his presence the Gold Coast welcomed players from 71 nations associated with the Commonwealth.
●        The Indian team was led by Olympic silver medalist PV Sindhu, who was the Indian flag bearer.


BCCI media rights achieved by Star Sports India
 
●        Star Sports India has bought BCCI Media Rights for the next 5 years.
●        Through the e-auction today, on the third day, Star accumulated the media rights of the Board by placing a large bid of record 6138.1 million rupees (about 94.4 million dollars).
●        Now with Indian domestic cricket rights, Star has become a monopoly in cricket in the world in a way.
●        He bought the IPL rights record for Rs. 16,347 crore.

RBI released the first bi-monthly monetary policy review 2018-19
 
●        Reserve Bank of India (RBI) reviewed its first bi-monthly monetary policy for the fiscal year 2018-19 on 05 April 2018.
●        RBI has not made any changes to the main interest rates.
●        RBI has kept the repo rate at 6.0 percent as before.
●        In the fourth review meeting, the six member monetary policy committee (MPC) of the RBI has not made any changes in the repo rate.


Ola offers 5 lakh travel insurance in one rupee
 
●        Ola, a country-based company offering a ride-sharing service, announced on Thursday that the insurance program for passengers using their cab and auto service.
●        Ola Ride Bookers can get a trip insurance of Rs 5 lakhs, which means travel insurance, if you spend a rupee for traveling in the city.
●        At the same time, this insurance cover will be Rs 10 for the Ola rentals, while for the outside of the city, 15 rupees will be available for insurance.

Julius Maada Bio Sierra Leone elected new President
 
●        Sierra Leone opposition candidate Julius Maada Bio has been elected the new President of the Western African country Sierra Leone.
●        The National Election Commission announced the election of Bio on April 04, 2018.
●        In the elections held on March 31, Bio of Sierra Leone People's Party won 51.81 percent of the votes.
●        He won the victory by defeating former Foreign Minister and ruling All-Peoples Congress candidate Samura Kamara, who won 48.19 percent of the votes.

NASA successfully tested SuperSonic Mars landing parachute
 
●        NASA successfully tested the supersonic parachute with the speed of sound in March 2018.
●        Similar parachutes have to be used during Mars Mission 2020.
●        The Advanced SuperSonic Parachute Infusion Research Experiment (Aspire) launched this parachute from a rocket from NASA's Valps Center on March 31, 2018.
