Masatsugu Asakawa elected ADB President
• The Asian Development Bank (ADB) said its board has unanimously elected Masatsugu Asakawa as its new president.
• Asakawa, 61, currently special advisor to Japan’s Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, will assume office as ADB’s 10th President on January 17, 2020.
• He will succeed Takehiko Nakao, who will leave office on January 16, 2020.
Sundar Pichai becomes Alphabet CEO as Google Co-founders step down
• Google Co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin have announced Google CEO Sundar Pichai is replacing Page as CEO of parent company Alphabet.
• Larry Page and Sergey Brin have decided to transition from their roles as CEO and President, respectively, of Alphabet.
• Page became CEO of Alphabet after Google restructured to form the parent company in 2015. He had previously been CEO of Google.
Govt launches 4th round of Regional Connectivity Scheme-UDAN
• Government has launched the 4th round of Regional Connectivity Scheme – UDAN (Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik) to further enhance the connectivity to remote and regional areas of the country.
• Civil Aviation Ministry said, the focus in this round will be North East Region, Hilly States, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh and Islands.
• The scheme was launched in October, 2016, which seeks to provide connectivity to un-served and under-served regions through revival of existing air strips and airports.
• In the last three years government has successfully completed three rounds of bidding under the Scheme and awarded about 700 routes. The Ministry aims to operationalize one thousand routes and more than 100 airports in the next five years.
New Zealand win MCC’s Spirit of Cricket award for 2019
• New Zealand cricket team has been awarded the MCC’s Christopher Martin-Jenkins (CMJ) Spirit of Cricket Award 2019 for their “sporting conduct” in ICC Men’s World Cup 2019 final.
• The Kane Williamson-led team had lost to England after a tied Super Over by the virtue of having scored fewer boundaries. “Their actions deserve this recognition,” said MCC President Kumar Sangakkara.
• 2018’s joint winners were Dan Bowser and Chris Edwards of the England Learning Disability team, who were recognised for their outstanding sporting actions during the team’s tour of the Netherlands.
• The CMJ Spirit of Cricket award was created in 2013 by Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) and the BBC in memory of former MCC President and BBC Test Match Special commentator Christopher Martin-Jenkins (“CMJ”), who was passionate about promoting the spirit of the game.
Cristiano Ronaldo named Serie A Player of the Year
• Juventus forward Cristiano Ronaldo has been named the Serie A Player of the Year.
• For the first time at the Italian ceremony, there were also awards for female players, with Roma and Italy forward Manuela Giugliano winning the top prize.
• Ronaldo signed for Juventus from Real Madrid in July 2018 and helped Juventus win their eighth successive Serie A title.
मात्सुगु असकावा नए एडीबी अध्यक्ष चुने गए
मात्सुगु असकावा को सर्वसम्मति से अपने बोर्ड ऑफ गवर्नर्स द्वारा एशियाई विकास बैंक (ADB) के अध्यक्ष के रूप में चुना गया है।
वह 17 जनवरी, 2020 को एडीबी के 10 वें राष्ट्रपति के रूप में पद ग्रहण करेंगे।
वह ताकीहीको नकाओ की जगह लेंगे, जो 16 जनवरी 2020 को कार्यालय छोड़ देंगे।

गूगल की मूल कंपनी अल्फाबेट के भी सीईओ बने सुंदर पिचाई
टेक दिग्गज गूगल ने मंगलवार को भारतीय मूल के सुंदर पिचाई को अपनी मूल कंपनी अल्फाबेट का मुख्य कार्यकारी अधिकारी (सीईओ) नियुक्त किया है। पिचाई से पहले यह जिम्मेदारी सर्गी ब्रिन के पास थी।
अल्फाबेट की स्थापना साल 2015 में 'कंपनियों को समूह' के रूप में की गई थी। यह गूगल को को उन प्रतिष्ठानों जैसे, वायमो (स्वचालित कार) वेरिली (जैव विज्ञान) कैलिको (बायोटेक आर एंड डी) साइडवॉक लैब (शहरी नवोन्मेष) और लून (गुब्बारे की सहायता से ग्रामीण क्षेत्रों में इंटरनेट उपलब्धता), से अलग करती है जो इसके मूल व्यवसाय नहीं हैं।
गूगल के सहसंस्थापक लैरी पेज और अल्फाबेट के सीईऔ व प्रेसीडेंट ब्रिन कंपनी में सहसंस्थापक, शेयरधारक और अल्फाबेट के बोर्ड ऑफ डायरेक्टर में बने रहेंगे। दूसरी ओर पिचाई अब गूगल और अल्फाबेट दोनों के सीईओ बन गए हैं।
उड़ान योजना का चौथा चरण शुरू हुआ
उड़ान योजना का चौथा चरण शुरू हो गया है। इस चरण में उत्तर-पूर्व भारत, जम्मू-कश्मीर, लद्दाख इत्यादि क्षेत्रों में कनेक्टिविटी पर बल दिया जायेगा।
उड़ान
उड़ान (उड़े देश का आम नागरिक) एक क्षेत्रीय कनेक्टिविटी योजना है, इस योजना को 27 अप्रैल, 2017 का लांच किया गया था। इस योजना का उद्देश्य क्षेत्रीय हवाई कनेक्टिविटी को बढ़ावा देना है तथा आम लोगों के लिए हवाई यात्रा को सस्ता बनाना है।
भारत विश्व का तीसरा सबसे बड़ा घरेलु विमानन बाज़ार है, इसका पूर्ण उपयोग करने के लिए सरकार ने घरेलु विमानन क्षेत्र में प्रत्यक्ष विदेशी निवेश में 49% से वृद्धि करने का प्रस्ताव रखा है।
न्यूजीलैंड टीम ने जीता 'CMJ स्पिरिट ऑफ क्रिकेट अवार्ड', वर्ल्ड कप फाइनल में दिखाई थी खेल भावना
न्यूजीलैंड की टीम को 2019 के क्रिस्टोफर मार्टिन-जेन्किन्स स्पिरिट ऑफ क्रिकेट अवार्ड से सम्मानित किया गया है। केन विलियमसन की अगुवाई वाली टीम को वर्ल्ड कप फाइनल में दिखाए गए खेल भावना, खेल कौशल, विनम्रता और निस्वार्थता के लिए यह अवार्ड दिया गया है।
इसी साल इंग्लैंड के लॉर्ड्स में खेले गए फाइनल में इंग्लैंड के हाथों रोमांचक मुकाबले में मिली हार के बाद कीवी टीम ने खूबसूरत तरीके से खेल भावना का प्रदर्शन किया था जिसके लिए उनकी दुनियाभर में तारीफ हुई थी।
खेल भावना के लिए दिए जाने वाले इस अवार्ड की शुरुआत साल 2013 में एमसीसी और बीबीसी ने मिलकर की थी। इसे एमसीसी के पूर्व अध्यक्ष और बीबीसी के टेस्ट मैच के विशेष कमेंटेटर रहे क्रिस्टोफर मार्टिन-जेन्किन्स की याद में शुरू किया गया था।
रोनाल्डो ने जीता 'सेरी-ए' प्लेयर ऑफ द ईयर अवार्ड
जुवेंतस फुटबाल क्लब और पुर्तगाल के स्टार फुटबालर क्रिस्टियानो रोनाल्डो को सेरी-ए प्लेयर ऑफ द ईयर के पुरस्कार से सम्मानित किया गया। गोल डॉट कॉम की रिपोर्ट के अनुसार, सोमवार रात यहां हुए एक पुरस्कार समारोह में रोनाल्डो को इस पुरुस्कार से सम्मानित किया गया। रोनाल्डो ने जुवेंतस में अपने पदार्पण सीजन में 26 गोल दागे थे।
पुर्तगाल के इस खिलाड़ी ने 31 मैचों में 21 गोल दागे हैं और वह टॉप स्कोररों की सूची में चौथे नंबर पर रहे हैं। उन्होंने इस सीजन में 11 मैचों में छह गोल किए हैं।
साम्पडोरिया के स्ट्राइकर फेबियो क्वागलियारेला को गोल्डन बूट अवार्ड से नवाजा गया। रोनाल्डो इस बार बैलॉन डीओर पुरस्कार जीतने से वंचित रहे और उन्हें तीसरे नंबर से संतोष करना पड़ा।
मेसी ने रिकॉर्ड छठी बार बैलॉन डीओर पुरस्कार जीता है। मेसी का 2015 के बाद से यह पहला बैलॉन डीओर पुरस्कार है। उन्होंने 2018-19 में अपने क्लब बार्सिलोना और अपनी राष्ट्रीय टीम अजेर्टीना के लिए अब तक 56 गोल दागे हैं।
