Current Affairs 3rd May  2018: NATIONAL  NEWS

The Kohler Implant Awareness Program will be organized on 6th May, 2018 in the Division of Empowerment of the Divyanjanjanj.
●        Under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, the Department of Divijanjanjan Empowerment will organize Kohler Transplant Awareness Program at Hooda Conference Center, Sector 12, Faridabad, 06 May, 2018.
●        Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Shri Krishna Pal will be the Chief Guest in the program.
●        Central Divyangjan Empowerment Secretary Mrs. Shakuntala Dole Gamlin and other senior officers of the department will also participate in the program.

Mother's milk is also not clean: FAO report
●        Soil Pollution Report was released by World Food and Agriculture Organization.
●        According to this report, soil pollution has increased due to insect disasters that are being used for yield growth, which is also affecting human health.
●        Important factors of soil pollution in the FAO report include insecticides, industrial wastes, radioactive waste, home remedies in soil waste, acid rain etc.


Delhi is the sixth most polluted city in the world: WHO
 
●        The World Health Organization (WHO) has released a list of the world's 15 most polluted cities.
●        Delhi is the sixth most polluted city in this list.
●        WHO has released this list on the basis of the yearly AccuA e.
 

EPFO launches 'View Pension Passbook' service for pensioners through Umang App
●        Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO), which provides various types of e-services to its members or stakeholders, has now started a new service through 'Umang App'.
●        When clicking the 'View passbook' option, the relevant pensioner has to enter the PPO number and his birthday.
●        After successful verification of these information, an OTP will be sent to the registered mobile number of the respective pensioner.

There were 23,866 bank scams of Rs 1 lakh crore in the last 5 years: RBI report
 
●        According to a report issued by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on 02 May 2018, there have been more than 23,000 bank scams in the past five years by different banks in India.
●        In response to the question asked under Right to Information (RTI), this information was issued by the Reserve Bank of India.
●        During this period, about one lakh crore rupees have been fraudulent in different banks of India.
●        According to the report, there were a total of 23,866 bank scams during this period.

Honda second big bike company with 18% sales growth
 
●        Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) has become the second largest motorcycle company in the country, leaving Bajaj behind with 18 per cent sales growth in April.
●        In this month, Honda Motorcycle sold 6,81,888 motorcycles with 18 per cent growth.
●        Hero Moto sold 6,94,022 units in April with 16.5 percent growth.

Approval to double investment limit in Prime Minister Vandana Yojana
●        The Union Cabinet has approved to double the investment limit on May 02, 2018 under the Prime Minister's Vandana Yojana (PMVVY) to Rs 15 lakh.
●        This will increase the social security cover of senior citizens.
●        With increasing the investment limit, senior citizens get pension up to Rs 10,000 per month.
●        This scheme was specially started for senior citizens.

The National Conference of 244 new districts will be organized tomorrow under the Beti Bachao, Beti Practice (BBBP) scheme.
●        The Ministry of Women and Child Development will hold a national conference of 244 new districts under the Beti Bachao, Beti Teacho (BBBP) scheme in New Delhi tomorrow.
●        The one-day conference will include nodal officers, state nodal officers and senior officials of 244 districts.
●        Central Women and Child Development Minister, Mrs. Maneka Sanjay Gandhi will be the Chief Guest, while Union Minister of State for Women and Child Development Dr. Virendra Kumar will be the special guest.

Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana approved to continue till 12th Five Year Plan
 
●        The Union Cabinet has approved the Prime Minister's Health Protection Scheme (PMSAs) to continue till the year 2019-20 from the 12th Five Year Plan.
●        A financial allocation of Rs. 14,832 crore has also been announced for this.
●        Under this scheme, the new All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) is being set up and government medical colleges are being upgraded.

India joins top 5 countries in spending on army
●        In terms of expenditure on military spending, India has now moved to fifth place in the world.
●        In 2017, India's military spending has increased by five and a half percent, with this, India has left France behind.
●        This information appeared in the annual report of Sweden's Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI).
●        In terms of military expenditures, America is in the first place and China is in second place.

●        Its aim is to make broad media development of powerful journalists by reaching people's press and news to the people.

●        President Shri Ramnath Kovind today gave the 65th National Award in New Delhi (03 May, 2018).

Air Chief honored Air Force personnel who won medals in CWG 2018 and ISSF World Cup Play
●        Air Force Chief BS Dhanoa PVSM, AVSM, YSM, VM, ADC honored 6 Air Force personnel for outstanding performance in Commonwealth Games (CWG) 2018 and International Shooting Sports Association World Cup (ISSF) Play.
●        Air Force personnel were appreciated for their exceptional performance in these international sports competitions.
●        In the CWG 2018, JWO Vikas Thakur and Sgt Guru Raja won bronze and silver medals in weightlifting (94 kg category) respectively.

Fourth Regional Conference on Sophisticated, Strengthening and Digital Infrastructure of Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank today started in Bangalore
●        With the cooperation of the Research and Information System (RIS) for the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and the developing countries of India, the Ministry of Finance organized a fourth Regional Conference on "state-of-the-art, strong and digital infrastructure" in Bangalore today.
●        The two-day conference is being organized before the third annual meeting of Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), which will be hosted by the Indian Government on 25th and 26th June, 2018 in Mumbai. 

 
Over two lakh Indian students in American universities: report
●        At present, about 2,11,703 Indian students are studying in different universities of America.
●        This information has come out in an official report recently released.
●        According to the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (Sevis) report of Home Security Investigation of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ASEE), 77 percent of the total international students come from Asia.

●        Jane Com, co-founder of smartphone messaging service Whatsapp, has decided to leave Facebook.
●        He gave this information through a post on his Facebook page.
●        Com says that he wants to give time to himself, he is leaving the post.
