Bangladesh’s PM Sheikh Hasina inaugurates “Ekushey Book Fair”
• Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the annual Ekushey Book Fair in Dhaka on 1st February 2020.
• Ekushey Book Fair is a month-long biggest and longest book fair of Bangladesh organised every year by Bangla Academy from February 1 to 28.
• This event commemorates the martyrs, of the language movement, who laid down their lives on 21 February 1952 for establishing Bangla as the official language of the then East Pakistan.
Maldives rejoins Commonwealth
• The Maldives has once again joined the Commonwealth. The Maldives was officially inducted into the Commonwealth recently.
• Maldives separated from the Commonwealth about three years ago due to the issues of Human Rights.

Fitch Predicts India’s GDP Growth for FY20 at 4.6 pc and FY21 at 5.6 pc
• US-based rating agency Fitch Ratings Inc. has projected GDP growth of India for the next financial year 2020-21 at 5.6 percent.
• For the current fiscal 2019-20, GDP is projected at 4.6 percent.

India and Maldives sign four MoUs to establish Addu Tourism Zone
• India and Maldives signed 6 MoUs, which included 5 MoUs in the field of tourism and 1 MoU for setting up bottled water plant in Maldives.
• The MOUs were signed between the High Commissioner of India Sunjay Sudhir, Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid and Addu City Council.
• Under the Tourism sector, USD 2.49 million MoUs were signed for establishing the Addu Tourism zone in five islands of Addu atoll.

Madhya Pradesh wins award for implementation of PMMVY
• Madhya Pradesh has bagged the first position for the implementation of Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY).
• The Madhya Pradesh Minister for Women and Child Development Imarti Devi and Principal Secretary Anupam Rajan received the award from the Union Minister of Women and Child Development Smriti Irani on 3rd February 2020 in New Delhi.
• Also, Indore district of Madhya Pradesh has bagged the first place for better performance of the scheme.

Pramod Agrawal Takes Charge as Chairman of Coal India Ltd.
• A 1991 batch IAS officer Pramod Agrawal assumed charge as the new Chairman and Managing Director of Coal India Ltd (CIL) on 1st February 2020.
• He succeeds A K Jha who on January 31, 2020.

बांग्लादेश की पीएम शेख हसीना ने "एकुशी पुस्तक मेला" का उद्घाटन किया
• बांग्लादेश की प्रधान मंत्री शेख हसीना ने 1 फरवरी 2020 को ढाका में वार्षिक एकुशी पुस्तक मेले का उद्घाटन किया।
• एकुशी पुस्तक मेला बंगला अकादमी द्वारा हर साल 1 से 28 फरवरी तक आयोजित बांग्लादेश का एक महीने का सबसे बड़ा और सबसे लंबा पुस्तक मेला है।
• यह घटना भाषा आंदोलन के शहीदों को याद करती है, जिन्होंने 21 फरवरी 1952 को बंगला को तत्कालीन पूर्वी पाकिस्तान की आधिकारिक भाषा के रूप में स्थापित करने के लिए अपना जीवन लगा दिया।
मालदीव राष्ट्रमंडल में शामिल हो गया
• मालदीव एक बार फिर राष्ट्रमंडल में शामिल हो गया है। मालदीव को आधिकारिक तौर पर हाल ही में राष्ट्रमंडल में शामिल किया गया था।
• मानव अधिकार के मुद्दों के कारण मालदीव लगभग तीन साल पहले राष्ट्रमंडल से अलग हो गया।

फिच ने भारत की जीडीपी वृद्धि वित्त वर्ष 2015 के लिए 4.6 पीसी और वित्त वर्ष 2015 में 5.6 पीसी पर की है
• अमेरिका स्थित रेटिंग एजेंसी फिच रेटिंग्स इंक ने अगले वित्त वर्ष 2020-21 के लिए 5.6 प्रतिशत पर भारत की जीडीपी वृद्धि का अनुमान लगाया है।
• चालू वित्त वर्ष 2019-20 के लिए जीडीपी 4.6 प्रतिशत अनुमानित है।
सम्मेलन और समझौता ज्ञापन
भारत और मालदीव अद्दू पर्यटन क्षेत्र की स्थापना के लिए चार समझौता ज्ञापनों पर हस्ताक्षर करते हैं
• भारत और मालदीव ने 6 MoU पर हस्ताक्षर किए, जिसमें पर्यटन के क्षेत्र में 5 MoU और मालदीव में बोतलबंद पानी संयंत्र स्थापित करने के लिए 1 MoU शामिल थे।
• भारत के उच्चायुक्त सनजय सुधीर, विदेश मामलों के मंत्री अब्दुल्ला शाहिद और अडू नगर परिषद के बीच समझौता ज्ञापनों पर हस्ताक्षर किए गए।
• पर्यटन क्षेत्र के तहत, के पांच द्वीपों में अद्दू पर्यटन क्षेत्र की स्थापना के लिए USD 2.49 मिलियन के समझौता ज्ञापन पर हस्ताक्षर किए गए।

मध्य प्रदेश ने PMMVY के कार्यान्वयन के लिए पुरस्कार जीता
• मध्य प्रदेश ने प्रधानमंत्री मातृ वंदना योजना (PMMVY) के कार्यान्वयन के लिए पहला स्थान हासिल किया है।
• मध्य प्रदेश की महिला और बाल विकास मंत्री इमरती देवी और प्रधान सचिव अनुपम राजन को 3 फरवरी 2020 को नई दिल्ली में केंद्रीय महिला और बाल विकास मंत्री स्मृति ईरानी से पुरस्कार मिला।
• इसके अलावा, मध्य प्रदेश के इंदौर जिले ने योजना के बेहतर प्रदर्शन के लिए पहला स्थान हासिल किया है।

• 1991 बैच के आईएएस अधिकारी प्रमोद अग्रवाल ने 1 फरवरी 2020 को कोल इंडिया लिमिटेड (CIL) के नए अध्यक्ष और प्रबंध निदेशक के रूप में पदभार ग्रहण किया।
• वह ए के झा के उत्तराधिकारी हैं, जो 31 जनवरी, 2020 को सफल हुए।
