MP govt starts ‘RozgarSetu’ scheme for skilled workers
• Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has launched a scheme ‘RozgarSetu’ for skilled workers who have returned from other states.
• As per the state government, Madhya Pradesh is the first to devise such a work plan, to provide work to the maximum number of returned skilled workers.
• The State government will act as a setu [bridge] between workers and employers so that both are benefited.
• The scheme will provide a platform to the workers and connect them with those needing them, thus fulfilling the manpower requirement of industries as well as provide employment to workers.
International
US joins G7 Group’s Partnership on Artificial Intelligence to counter China
• United States has finally joined the rest of the G7 countries in the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (AI), in an effort to contain China‘s influence on AI.
• The Trump administration had been the only nation among leaders of the Group of Seven which was not the part of the Global Partnership on AI, set up by France and Canada in 2019.
• The Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence aims to guide the responsible adoption of AI based on shared principles of “human rights, inclusion, diversity, innovation and economic growth”, among the member nations.
• G7 Members: France, Canada, Italy, Germany, Japan, UK and US.

RajyaSabha member M.P. Veerendra Kumar passes away
• Rajya Sabha (RS) MP from Kerala and Loktantrik Janata Dal (LJD) Leader, writer and journalist, M.P. Veerendra Kumar passed away. He was born on July 22, 1936, at Kalpetta, Wayanad district, Kerala.
• In 1996, Kumar was elected to the Lok Sabha from Kozhikde and became a ‘Union Minister of State for Finance’ and later ‘Union Minister of State for Labour’ in the United Front governments led by HD Deve Gowda and IK Gujral.
• He was elected to the Lok Sabha again in 2004. He has been a member of the Rajya Sabha since April 2016. He was a recipient of the Sahitya Academy award.

• World No Tobacco Day (WNTD) is observed every year on 31 May, globally to inform the public on the dangers of using tobacco and to discourage the use of tobacco in any form.
• Theme of the 2020 WNTD is ‘Tobacco and related industry tactics to attract younger generations’.
• The Day was created by the member states of the World Health Organization (WHO) in 1987.

एमपी सरकार ने कुशल श्रमिकों के लिए शुरू की 'रोज़गार सेतु' योजना
मध्य प्रदेश के मुख्यमंत्री शिवराज सिंह चौहान ने 'रोज़गार सेतु' नामक योजना शुरू करने की घोषणा की है। यह योजना महामारी के कारण राज्य में वापस आने वाले कुशल श्रमिकों के लिए रोजगार को सुरक्षित करने में मदद करेगी। मध्य प्रदेश सरकार ने बेरोजगार प्रवासियों के लिए उनके कौशल से संबंधित क्षेत्र में नौकरियों की तलाश करने और पंजीकृत करने के लिए एक नए पोर्टल MP रोजगर सेतु पोर्टल' को भी शुरू किया है।
योजना के लिए पात्रता:
• श्रमिक मध्य प्रदेश का स्थायी निवासी होना चाहिए।
• समग्रा आईडी कार्ड धारक, यदि न हो तो उसका आवेदन।
• ऑनलाइन आवेदन जमा करने की अंतिम तिथि 3 जून 2020 है।

G7 आर्टिफिशियल इंटेलीजेंस ग्रुप में शामिल हुआ US
आर्टिफिशियल इंटेलीजेंस के इस्तेमाल के लिए अमेरिका ने अंतरराष्ट्रीय पैनल से हाथ मिलाया है ताकि इसके गाइडलाइंस निर्धारित कर सके। इससे पहले ट्रंप प्रशासन द्वारा इस आइडिया को खारिज कर दिया गया था। व्हाइट हाउस के चीफ टेक्नोलॉजी ऑफिसर माइकल क्रैटसियोस ( Michael Kratsios) ने गुरुवार को एपी से बताया कि चीन द्वारा टेक्नोलॉजी में हेर-फेर के रिकॉर्ड के खात्मे के लिए इस तरह के साझा लोकतांत्रिक सिद्धांतों को स्थापित करना महत्वपूर्ण है।
आर्टिफिशियल इंटेलिजेंस के उपयोग को लेकर नैतिक दिशा-निर्देश निर्धारित करने के लिए अमेरिका एक अंतरराष्ट्रीय पैनल में शामिल हो गया है। उन्होंने कहा, ‘चीनी प्रौद्योगिकी कंपनियां संयुक्त राष्ट्र में चेहरे की पहचान (Facial Recognition) और निगरानी को लेकर अंतरराष्ट्रीय मानकों को आकार देने का प्रयास कर रही हैं।’ गुरुवार को राष्ट्रीय प्रौद्योगिकी मंत्रियों के बीच एक वर्चुअल मीटिंग हुई। ऐसा तब हुआ जब लगभग दो साल पहले कनाडा और फ्रांस के नेताओं ने घोषणा की थी कि वे मानवाधिकारों, समावेश, विविधता, नवाचार और आर्थिक विकास के साझा सिद्धांतों के आधार पर एआई का जिम्मेदार मार्गदर्शन करने के लिए एक समूह का गठन कर रहे हैं।

राज्यसभा सांसद एम.पी. वीरेंद्र कुमार का निधन
केरल से राज्यसभा सांसद और लोकतांत्रिक जनता दल (एलजेडी) के नेता रहे लेखक और पत्रकार, एम.पी. वीरेंद्र कुमार का निधन। उनका जन्म 22 जुलाई, 1936 को केरल के वायनाड जिले के कलपेट्टा में हुआ था।
कुमार साल 1996 में कोझीकेड की लोकसभा सीट के लिए चुने गए थे और बाद में एचडी देवगौड़ा और इंद्रकुमार गुजराल के नेतृत्व वाली संयुक्त सरकारों में ’केंद्रीय वित्त राज्य मंत्री’ और ’केंद्रीय श्रम राज्य मंत्री’ रहे थे। वह 2004 में फिर से लोकसभा के लिए चुने गए। वह अप्रैल 2016 से राज्यसभा के सदस्य हैं। साथ ही, उन्हें साहित्य अकादमी पुरस्कार से भी सम्मानित किया जा चुका है।'

विश्व तंबाकू निषेध दिवस 2020
• विश्व तंबाकू निषेध दिवस (WNTD) हर साल 31 मई को मनाया जाता है, विश्व स्तर पर तंबाकू का उपयोग करने के खतरों पर जनता को सूचित करने और किसी भी रूप में तंबाकू के उपयोग को हतोत्साहित करने के लिए।
• 2020 WNTD का थीम ’युवा पीढ़ियों को आकर्षित करने के लिए तंबाकू और संबंधित उद्योग रणनीति है’।
• यह दिवस 1987 में विश्व स्वास्थ्य संगठन (WHO) के सदस्य राज्यों द्वारा बनाया गया था।
