174th meeting of ESIC concluded
●        In the 174th meeting of the ESI Corporation held in New Delhi yesterday under the chairmanship of Shri Santosh Kumar Gangwar, Minister of State for Labor and Employment (Independent Charge), some important decisions have been taken in respect of improvement in service delivery system of ESIC.
●        In order to strengthen medical services in all the districts of the country, it was decided to open the ESIC Dispensary Co-branch office (DCBO) in every district of the country.
 
Ministry of Railways organized 'Mission Raftar'
●        The Ministry of Railways has conducted a one-day workshop, 'Mission Raftar' in New Delhi with the aim of increasing the average speed of freight trains and passenger trains.
●        Shri Ashwani Lohani, Chairman, Railway Board, Shri Rajen Gohain inaugurated the workshop.
●        All members of the Railway Board, General Manager of the Railway Board and Senior Railway Officers were present on the occasion.

●        According to the vision of Central Railway Minister Shri Piyush Goyal, to ensure better experience to the users (user) by adopting the best practices adopted in the Information Technology Industry, the online travel portal of the railwayswww.irctc.co.in has now got its new user interface Has launched the beta version.
●        The 'Digital India' initiative has paved the way for government organizations to use the power of technology and to make the lives of Indian citizens easier.
 
 
Government has canceled land allotment of Tuticorin Copper Plant
 
●        The Tamil Nadu government has canceled the land allotment of Vedanta Group Tuticorin Copper Plant.
●        Meanwhile, the issue of the death of 13 protesters in police firing triggered in the Assembly on Tuesday.
●        The opposition party, DMK, had decided to boycott the proceedings of the House until the unit was closed forever.
 

CFO Deepak Ahuja will decide on Tesla in India
●        Elon Musk said in a tweet that his company wants to come to India, but when it will be an Indian will decide.

WHO approves India's Digital Health Proposal
 
●        Union Health and Family Welfare Minister JP Nadda said on May 29, 2018 that the proposal brought on digital health by India has been approved by the 71st World Health Assembly (World Health Assembly).
●        The World Health Assembly is the decision-making body of the World Health Organization (WHO).
●        The 71st World Health Assembly was organized in Geneva and it was attended by representatives from all the member countries of the WHO.
 
India and Indonesia committed for comprehensive strategic partnership
 
●        During the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Indonesia, the two countries expressed their commitment for comprehensive strategic partnership on May 30, 2018.
●        Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the press conference in Indonesia's capital Jakarta.
●        15 MoUs were signed between India and Indonesia, which were related to areas of defense, science, technology, rail and health.
 
 
The central government is planning to set up optical fiber cables in the border areas
 
●        Union Defense Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced on May 29, 2018 that the Center is planning to set up optical fiber cables in the border areas to address the problems of connectivity of defense personnel and common people.
●        Underlining the achievements of the Narendra Modi government after four years, Sitharaman said in response to media queries that we will soon start working on the expansion of optical fiber cable in the border areas.


Bankruptcy Process postponed against RCom
 
●        National Companies Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) on conditional ban on bankruptcy process against Reliance Communications (RCom) and its associates Reliance Infratel and Reliance Telecom on Wednesday.
●        Simultaneously, these companies have been allowed to sell their properties to Reliance Geo.
●        NCLT has asked RCom and its subsidiaries to pay Ericsson India Rs. 550 crores in 120 days.

International Conference on 'Trips-CBD Combination' in Geneva on 7-8 June, 2018


●        India is spearheading the campaign to resume the WTO debate on issues related to prevention of traditional knowledge.
●        Together with the WTO Learning Center, the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade and South Center (an intergovernmental organization located in Geneva), the Indian government is going to organize an international conference on 'Trips-CBD combination' in Geneva, 7-8 June, 2018.

Special refund fortnight from 31st May to 14th June, 2018
●        Refund of Goods and Services Tax (GST) has been a concern for both the government and the business world for the last few months.
●        So far, the government has sanctioned more than Rs 30,000 crore as GST refund.
●        It includes Rs 16000 crore of IGST and Rs 14000 crore of ITC.

SBI increased interest rate for FD
 
●        State Bank of India ( SBI ) , the country's largest bank and lender, has hiked interest rates for term deposits of 1 year and 2 years, by 25 basis points.
●        Also , the interest rate of Fixed Deposit with a period of 2 to 3 years has also been increased.
●        New interest rates have come into effect from May 28, on the FD of less than Rs 1 crore.
 
 
Moody downgraded India's growth rate for 2018 to 7.3 percent
●        International rating agency Moody's Investor Services reduced its estimate of India's GDP growth rate to 7.3 percent for the current fiscal.
●        The agency had earlier estimated an increase of 7.5 percent.
