Approval of Indian Bureau of Mines (IBM)
●        The Union Cabinet approved the reconstitution of the Indian Bureau of Mines (IBM) with the formation, elimination and upgradation of joint secretary level and above posts.
●        The current 1477 posts of the Indian Bureau of Mines have been retained.

Approval of granting financial assistance to sugar mills for disposal of outstanding sugarcane money
●        Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has given its approval to give financial assistance of Rs 5.50 per quintal sugarcane to the sugar mills in the sugar season 2017-18.
●        This will help sugar mills in settling outstanding sugarcane money from farmers.

Approval for the reorganization of the program to continue as the Prime Minister's Development Program during the remaining period of 14th Finance Commission.
●        Under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has approved the naming and reconstitution of Multi-Regional Development Program (MSDP) in the form of Prime Minister's Development Program (PMJVK).
●        The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has approved it to continue during the remaining period of the 14th Finance Commission.
 

Approval of continuation of umbrella scheme 'Green Revolution - Krishonnati Yojana' in Agriculture sector
●        The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has given its approval to continue the umbrella program 'Green Revolution - Krishonnati Yojana' in the agricultural sector from the 12th Five Year Plan ie 2017-18 to 2019-20.
●        The total central share in this is Rs. 33,269.976 crore.
 
 
India-South Africa Business Summit concludes in Johannesburg
●        The Minister of Commerce & Industry and Civil Aviation, Shri Suresh Prabhu participated in the Indo-South Africa Business Summit held in Johannesburg, South Africa during April 29-30.
●        Suresh Prabhu called on the ministers of South Africa's trade and industry, Dr. Rob Davis and ministers of Swaziland, Botswana and Lesotho.
 
 
Under the technical cadre of Petroleum and Safety Organization, the Group 'A' service is approved and cadre review approved.

Protocol Accepted under the WHO Framework Agreement on Tobacco Control to End Illegal Trade in Tobacco Products
●        Under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Union Cabinet has approved the acceptance of the Protocol under the World Health Organization (WHO) Framework Agreement on Tobacco Control to end illegal trade in tobacco products.
●        It will be applicable to the negotiation (WHO FCTC) and in the form of Section 15 of the World Health Organization Framework Agreement on Tobacco Control in smoking and chewing tobacco or smokeless tobacco (SLT) forms.
●        India is involved in WHO FCTC agreements.
 
Minister of State for Railways Shri Rajen Gohain and Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, Dr. Raman Singh inaugurated Durg-Firozpur New Antyodaya Express

●        Minister of State for Railways Shri Rajen Gohain and Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh Dr. Raman Singh inaugurated a new weekly train number 22895/22896 Durg-Firozpur Antyodaya Express.
●        In his address on this occasion, Mr. Rajen Gohain said that in line with the concept of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Antyodaya Express has been launched to ensure the tour with facilities for all sections of the society.

Central Government launches pilot plan for 2,500 MW of power purchase for three years
 
●        The Central Government has started pilot scheme for purchase of total 2,500 MW power for three years under medium term on April 30, 2018.
●        This scheme is for those power producers whose projects have been started, but the energy purchase agreement has not been entered into with them.

Cabinet has approved doubling the investment limit for senior citizens from Rs 7.5 lakh to 15 lakh rupees
●        Under the Prime Minister Vandana Yojana (PMVVY), under the government commitment to financial inclusion and social security, double the investment limit from Rs 7.5 lakh to Rs 15 lakh and its membership deadline May 4, 2018 Has increased from 31 March, 2020 to approved.

Approval of Mutual Recognition Agreement between Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and South African Institute of Chartered Accountants
●        The Union Cabinet has approved mutual recognition agreements between the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) and the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA).

Rs. 715.60 lakh sanctioned for the mass tube well  scheme by Uttar Pradesh government
●        Uttar Pradesh Government has sanctioned 7 crore 15 lakh 60 thousand rupees in the current financial year in the form of grants for drilling, assembly, submersible pump, pump house, hood etc., in the operation of the tube wells of farmers of the state under Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Group Neckup Scheme. 
The amount of money has been approved.
●        The purpose of Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia collective tube scheme is to arrange irrigation for those areas where the quantity of water is very low or the inhabitants of the area can not raise money for it.

New terminal will be built at Lucknow, Chennai and Guwahati airports at a cost of Rs 5,000 crore
 
●        The Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved the proposal to upgrade and extend Lucknow, Chennai and Guwahati airports at a cost of Rs 5,000 crore.
●        Union Information and Technology Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said that the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) approved the upgradation of these airports with a fund of Rs. 21,000 crore allocated for various airports in the country.

Telecommunication Commission approves mobile and internet use during air travel
●        On 01 May 2018, the Telecom Commission approved the proposal for permitting mobile phone calls and internet services in domestic and international air flights in the country with certain conditions.
●        Telecommunication Commission is the top body to decide the Department of Telecommunications.
●        Proposal for creation of the post of Telecom Ombudsman has been approved to deal with telecom complaints.

Approval for establishing hotline between India and China's forces
 
●        After the informal meeting organized between India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Chunfing, in Wuhan, the announcement has been made to establish a hotline between the two countries.
●        It is known that Prime Minister Modi had met Shi Xinfing in a two-day unprecedented summit to strengthen India-China relations.
●        The leaders of the two countries have allegedly agreed to create a hotline between their own military headquarters.
 

India-Pakistan will take part in military exercises for the first time
●        India and Pakistan will be together for the first time in a multinational military exercise to be held in Russia in September 2018.
●        In this military exercise organized to curb terrorist activities, China and many other countries will also be involved.

Army's South-Western Command launches 'Vijay Prahar' in Rajasthan
 
●        The special training program 'Vijay Prahar' is being practiced by the South-Western Command of the Army stationed in Rajasthan.
●        20 thousand soldiers of Army are participating in this military maneuvers program.
●        In the Mahajan range near Suratgarh, exercise is being done to combat the enemy's atomic attack through 'Vijay Prahar' maneuvers.
●        During this time training is being provided to coordinate with the IAF.

National Dung-fund scheme started
 
●        The Central Government has started a dung-fund scheme to improve the living standard of the residents of rural areas.
●        Union Drinking Water and Sanitation Minister Uma Bharti and Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar launched this scheme on 01 May 2018 from the National Dairy Research Institute, Karnal.
●        Under this scheme, the first plant will be installed in village Kunjpura of Karnal.
