Niti Aayog to make women entrepreneurs cell

In the International Entrepreneurship Conference (GES) concluded on 30th November 2017, the Policy Commission announced the formation of a women cell. This cell will be set up to assist women entrepreneurs.
●    The Telangana government also announced three initiatives, including the installation of the incubator to encourage women.
●    Chief Executive Officer of the Policy Commission, Amitabh Kant announced that after the expiration of the GES conference this cell will provide all kinds of assistance including legal and intellectual property and act as catalyst.
●    Under the Atal Innovation Mission, female schools will be selected on priority basis for tinkering labs.
●    Robots and 3D printers will be provided in these selected schools.
●    He also announced that under the Atal Innovation Mission, the facility of incubator will be provided to industries established by women entrepreneurs.
●    Under the Atal Innovation Mission, the states will be connected with the VHUB for assistance.
●    For the women entrepreneurs, a special fund of Rs 15 crore has been announced with the establishment of a Technology Fund (T-Fund).
●    Under this fund, women entrepreneurs can get Rs 1 crore to Rs 25 lakh.

Badri Narayan Sharma appointed as president of National Anti-Profit Authority

On November 28, 2017, the Central Government has appointed Badri Narayana Sharma, Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer as the president of National Anti-Profit Authority.
●    After the decision of a committee headed by Cabinet Secretary PK Sinha, the decision has been taken by the Government on the appointment of the Chairman and its members.
●    The purpose behind the formation of this Authority is to bring the benefits of reduced rates in the new indirect tax system to the consumers.
●    Technical members include Jesse Chauhan, Bijay Kumar, CL Mahar and R Bhagyadevi.
●    Union Minister of Information Technology Ravi Shankar Prasad had said after the Cabinet meeting that now only 50 such items have been living in the slab by 28 percent of GST.
●    At the same time, the tax rate on many items has been reduced to five percent.
Badri Narayan Sharma is a 1985 batch IAS officer of Rajasthan cadre.
●    He was appointed as Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Energy in the year 2015.
●    The Central Government had approved the formation of GST 'National Anti-Profit Authority' on November 16, 2017.
●    Despite the reduction in GST rates, if the prices of any item or service are not reduced, then this Authority will take action.

Salil s. Parekh to be new MD and CEO of Infosys

Infosys, the IT giant, on Saturday, Parekh has announced to be the new CEO and Managing Director of the company. 
●    Parekh will take over from January 2.
●    Parekh is currently a member of the executive board of the French IT Services Company Capgemini.
●    He has secured master's degree in computer science and mechanical engineering from Cornell University.
●    He has done B.Tech in Aeronautical Engineering from IIT Bombay.
●    Nandan Nilekani will remain the non-executive chairman of Infosys
●    The company's interim CEO Pravin Rao will be made Chief Operating Officer (COO).

Bangalore's company aims to complete Facebook Artificial Intelligence Challenge first

A startup company in Bangalore claims that it has become the first company to successfully complete an Artificial Intelligence AI Challenge launched by Facebook in 2015.
●    This challenge was a difficult process in 20 parts.
●    Adopting a special approach, Dual Analytics has completed all 20 goals.
●    They are called 20 QA BABI Tasks, which have been completed by the company with 100J accuracy.
●    According to a company's eligibility, this test was organized by the Facebook AI Research Fair.
●    Its purpose was to explain and assess the performance of AI based programs.
Dataval Analytics is headquartered in Chicago, but its operations office is in Bangalore.
●    It was founded by Lt Col Shashi Kiran, former army officer and Lieutenant Colonel Naveen Xavier.

Srikanth and Sindhu awarded 'Indian Sportsman Honor' Award

Indian shuttler Kidambi Srikanth and PV Sindhu were awarded the Best Player of the Year award at the 'Indian Sports Honors' event. 
●    Srikanth has made his name in this year's four Super Series titles.
●    Indian sports captains Virat Kohli and businessman Sanjeev Goenka have started the 'Indian Sports Honors' in support of sports development in the country.
●    Virat Kohli in collaboration with Sanjeev Goenka inaugurated the award in Delhi in September 2017.
●    Through this award, not only cricket, but all the people associated with the game were honored for his contribution.
●    The Indian women team, which reached the finals of the ICC Women's World Cup, was declared the best team of the year.
●    Indian tennis player Sania Mirza was given an inspiring honor. 
●    First Olympic gold medalist Abhinav Bindra was honored for transformational contribution to Indian sports.

Meerabai Chanu of India won the gold medal in the World Weightlifting Championship

Saikhom Meerabai Chanu became the first Indian woman to win a gold medal in India for two years with a total lift of 194 kg in the World Weightlifting Championship held in Anaheim, USA.
●    This championship is also important because before that he had performed very disappointing in the Rio Olympic Games.
●    In any of the three attempts of the 'Clean & Jerk' section of women's 48 kg group in Rio Olympics, she failed to take full weight.
●    Out of the twelve lifters, he was one of the two weightlifters who did not end their program.
●    Prior to this, only Karnam Malleswari, Olympic bronze medalist in 1994 and 1995, won the top prize twice in the world championship.

●    Manipur's Saikhom Meerabai Chanu won the silver medal in women's weight category of women in the 2014 Glasgow and the men in Commonwealth Games before World Weightlifting Championship 2017.
●    Another Indian weightlifter Khumukcham Sanjita won the gold medal in the same competition.

Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley formally launched the payment bank 'Paytm Payments Bank' on November 29, 2017.

On this occasion, former Executive Director of Reserve Bank of India P Vijay Bhaskar, Dilip Asbe, Interim CEO of National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), Vijay Shekhar Sharma, founder and CEO of PETIM, and Renu Satti, MD & CEO of Paytm Payments Bank Limited were present. 
●    At present, there are four other payment banks including Paytm Payments Bank in India.
●    The other three banks are Airtel Payments Bank, India Post Payments Bank and Fino Payments Bank.
●    Paytm was established in 2010, however, it has grown to much after the monopolization.
●    Paytm has a total of 28 million registered users, of which 18 million are using its wallet service.
●    PettyMay Payments Bank is India's largest mobile major, technical vendor bank.
●    Patti Payments Bank is India's first real mobile major bank with zero fees and zero minimum balance on online transactions.
●    This bank has been designed to help in achieving financial inclusion in the country.

World AIDS Day celebrated

World AIDS Day was observed internationally on December 01, 2017. On this occasion awareness programs, discussions and seminars were organized in every country.
●    The topic 'Everybody Counts' has been set for the year 2017 by the International Health Organization (WHO).
●    World AIDS Day -2017 is also being circulated with the "Right to Health" campaign. The World Health Organization is highlighting the needs of 36.7 million people infected with HIV in this celebration.
●    Various types of programs are organized on World AIDS Day to increase public awareness and disseminate the message of that particular year.
●    The main goal of the program is to raise awareness among the people. Awareness campaign was started by the Government of India on this occasion.
●    As part of World AIDS Day, the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) has said that it is more important to stop the transition between children of 15 years, emphasizing greater investment and access to treatment for children.
●    The thoughts about World AIDS Day were first expressed in 1987 by Thomas Netter and James W. Bann.
●    Both Thomas Netter and James W. Bunn were public information officers for both the World Health Organization Geneva, Switzerland AIDS Global Program.
