Texas Governor Greg Abbott met the Prime Minister.


●        Governor of the United States of America, Greg Abbott met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday.These days, they are on a journey to India with a business mission.
●        While discussing the increase in India-US strategic partnership during the meeting, Prime Minister Narendra Modi underlined the importance of growing relations with Texas in the field of trade and commerce, energy, industry, education and interaction between people.
●        The two leaders agreed to strengthen the relationship.
 
Smart India Hackathon - 2018


●        The Ministry of Statistics and Program Implementation is participating in Smart India organized by the All India Technical Education Council (AICTE) under the aegis of the Ministry of Human Resource Development.
●        For the Ministry of Statistics and Program Implementation, software version of Ganda Finale of Hackathon will be held on 30 and 31 March 2018 in the GV Barnard College of Engineering and Technology, Hubli, Karnataka.

Niti Aayog releases baseline ranking for 101 ambitious districts
 
●        On March 28, 2018, the Commission released the rankings for 101 Ambitious Districts across the country.
●        This ranking was released on the basis of 49 parameters.
●        It is related to many areas including standard health and nutrition, education, agriculture and water resources.
●        These include financial inclusion, skill development and basic infrastructure.
●        The government has identified 101 districts for the transformation of backward districts.
●        By not calling these districts the backward district, the government named them as 'Aspirational District'.

Central Government partnered with Kaushal Bharat for has shared partnership with India for Saubhagya Yojana
 
●       The Central Government partnered with the Union Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Ministry on March 27, 2018, to train labor force in six states for the immediate implementation of its 'Saubhagya' scheme.
●        'Saubhagya' scheme is also known as Prime Minister's Sarp electricity every household scheme.
●        The goal of this scheme is to provide electricity to all the houses located in all parts of the country in a time bound manner.
●        Under this plan, there is hope for transmission of electricity to about 40 million households.

Manipal Hospitals Acquired Fortis Hospitals
 
●        Manipal Health Enterprises acquired Fortis Healthcare Limited on March 28, 2018.
●        This deal was officially announced.
●        After completion of the deal, the joint company will be built.
●        Under this deal, the Fortis Healthcare Hospital will sell the business to Manipal Hospital.
●        Promotional TPG in Manipal Hospital will invest Rs 3,900 crores
 
Judge Jawad Rahim appointed acting guardian of NGT
 
●        The appointment has been done by a committee headed by Chief Justice of India Justice Justice Deepak Mishra, on the petition of Justice A.M.Khanvilkar and Justice DK Chandrachud.
●        In the petition, the NGT (Practice and Procedure) Amendment Act, 2017 has been stated as unconstitutional, in which there is a provision for a bench of single judge to set up the dispute.
●        The petition said that this is against the spirit of the NGT Act, 2010.
 
Policy Commission's Atal Innovation Mission signed a statement with SAP


●        The Atal Innovation Mission of the Policy Commission (AIM) signed the Statement of Intent (SOI) with 27 March 2018 SAP, which aims to promote the culture of innovation and entrepreneurship.
●        SAP employee volunteers will train students in advanced topics related to technology and guide them in the design lab of SAP Labs India.
●        In addition, SAP employees will also provide the opportunity for volunteer students to gain practical experience about technology related equipment.
 
 
Record increase in global carbon emissions in 2017
 
●        According to a report released by the International Energy Agency (IEA), the emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2) globally in 2017 reached a historic high of 32.5 Gigaton.
●        This was due to the high demand for energy and slow pace of improvement in energy efficiency.
●        According to the initial estimate of the IEA, the demand for global energy has increased by 2.1 percent in 2017 to 14,050 million tonnes, which is two times more than the previous year.
 
Jio tops in download speed: TRAI
 
●        According to a report by Telecom Regulatory Authority of India, Reliance Jio has made record in the average maximum download speed in the month of January.
●        Meanwhile, the average maximum download speed of 21.3 Mbps on Geo's network
●        According to the data published on Trai's MySpeed portal of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India, the average download speed on Reliance Jio's network was much more than its rivals.

Aadhar linking for welfare schemes increased till June 30
 
●        The government has extended the deadline for linking the basis for welfare schemes for three months, in which the citizens are benefited from the government fund.
●        Earlier, the deadline was fixed on March 31.
●        According to the Office Memorandum issued by the Ministry of Information Technology, the last date for adding welfare schemes to the welfare schemes is now 30 June 2018.

●        The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) launched the GSAT-6A Satellite on March 29, 2018.
●        This satellite was launched from Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh.
●        This satellite will work for the next 10 years.
●        It was sent from Geosynchronous launch vehicle (GSLV-F08).

●        Famous film director Shekhar Kapur was appointed the head of the Central Committee of the 65th National Film Awards.
●        The Central Government has constituted the Central Panel for the National Film Award.
●        This panel comprises 11 members, including one president and 5 regional presidents.
●        Shekhar Kapur will be the chairman of the jury for the film's assessment.
●        Shekhar Kapoor was born on December 6, 1945.

CCEA approves making of new integrated scheme for school education
 
●        Under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs approved the proposal of the Department of School Education and Literacy to create a new Integrated Education Plan on March 28, 2018.
●        This scheme will be prepared on the basis of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA), National Secondary Education Campaign (RMSA) and teacher education campaign.
●        This plan will be applicable from 1 April 2018 to 31 March 2020.
●        The cabinet has approved the allocation of Rs. 75 thousand crore for the proposed scheme.
●        This amount is 20 percent more than the allotted amount.

SBI increases fixed deposit (FD) rates by 0.25 percent


●        SBI , the country's largest bank , has suddenly surprised everybody by increasing the Fixed Deposit (FD) rates by 0.10-0.25 percent.
●        He has taken this step due to increased demand for loans between economic recovery.
●        Increasing the SBI's FD rates also means that loan can be more expensive later on.
