 Cabinet approves amendment to the National Medical Commission (NMC) Act


●        Under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Cabinet approved amendments to the National Medical Commission (NMC) Act. These amendments have been done in the backdrop of considering the date of 2 January 2018 in the Lok Sabha and after which the Parliamentary Committee related to the department is sent for consideration.
●        The government has considered the views / suggestions given by parliamentary committee on the approval of the report submitted on March 20, 2018 and the medical students and those related to medical profession in Parliament.
  
Approval for formulation of new integrated education plan for April 1, 2018 to March, 2020


●        Under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has approved the proposal of the School Education and Literacy Department to create a new Integrated Education Plan for the period 01 April 2018 to 31 March, 2020.
●        In the proposed scheme, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA), National Secondary Education Campaign (RMSA) and teacher education campaign will be included.
●        75 thousand crores have been sanctioned for the proposed scheme.
●        This amount is 20 percent more than the allotted amount.
 
 NAFED signed a one-time solution agreement with eight creditor banks


●        The Indian National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Association Limited (NAFED) has signed a one-time solution agreement with its eight creditor banks.
●        Under this agreement, NAFED has transferred assets worth Rs.220 crores and properties located at Lawrence Road, New Delhi, estimated at Rs.254 crores to banks.
●        Along with this, Nafed has transferred the auction rights of some of the shops of Mega Mall located in Andheri Mumbai, of its debtor company.
 
Permission to export bulk of all edible oils except mustard oil


●        Under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has approved the proposal of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry to remove the restrictions on exports of large amounts of edible oils except all mustard oil.
●        Permission to export five kilograms of consumer pack will be continued at a minimum price of 900 US dollars per ton for mustard oil.
●        The Committee of Economic Affairs has also given its approval to the Committee headed by the Secretary, Food and Public Distribution Department.
 
Union Minister for Food Processing Industries, Shri Harsimrat Kaur will inaugurate the first mega food park of Rajasthan in Ajmer tomorrow


●        Union Minister for Food Processing Industries, Smt. Harsimrat Kaur Badal will inaugurate the first Mega Food Park in Rupnagana village in Ajmer, Rajasthan.
●        About 25 thousand farmers of Ajmer and neighboring districts will benefit from this Mega Food Park, built at a cost of Rs. 113.57 crores.
 
EPFO Launches pensioner portal website


●        Employees' Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has launched Pensioner Portal.
●        From this portal on the EPFO website, the pensioner can get all the pension related information such as pension payment order number, pensioner payment order details, pensioner passbook information, date of pension deposit, pensioner life certificate etc.
●        In case of failure of the pensioner's certificate or acceptance of the life certificate of the pensioner, it will help in getting information regarding the status of life certificate.
●        It also provides details of pension prevention and cause information.
 
The Ministry of Women and Child Development organized the first National Conference on Psychological Trauma, Child Protection and Mental Illness.


●    First ever National conclave was held on 27-28th March,2018 by the Ministry of Women & Child Development, in collaboration with the Dept. of Psychiatry, AIIMS in           J L N Auditorium, AIIMS, New Delhi. 
●    The Conclave was inaugurated by Hon’ble Minister of State for Women and Child Development, Dr. Virendra Kumar. 
●    In his inaugural address, the Minister said that psychological trauma is a broad term that may include many kinds of experiences and circumstances such as human trafficking, sexual harassment, war, natural disaster, abduction, domestic violence etc.  

Manipal Hospitals Acquires Fortis Hospitals
 
●        Manipal Health Enterprises acquired Fortis Healthcare Limited on March 28, 2018.
●        This deal was officially announced.
●        Fortis has said that the joint company will be built after the deal is completed.
●        Promotional TPG in Manipal Hospital will invest Rs 3,900 crores
●        Fortis investors will get 10.83 shares of Manipal Hospital on 100 shares.


UPCOCA Bill passed to prevent organized crime

●    The UPCOCA Bill, brought from Uttar Pradesh to tighten the organized crime, was passed on March 27, 2018.
●    Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath introduced this bill in the House which was passed passively.
●    The UPCOCA Bill has already been introduced in the House.

Approval of Memorandum of Understanding between India and Canada on IPR


●        The Union Cabinet gave its pre-approved clearance agreement (MOU) between India and Canada.
●        This MOU was signed on February 23, 2018 to establish bilateral cooperation activities in the field of intellectual property (IP).
●        The purpose of this MoU is to promote innovation, creativity and economic development in both countries.
 
Approval of Memorandum of Understanding between India and Zambia in the field of judicial cooperation


●        The Union Cabinet has approved the Memorandum of Understanding between India and Zambia in the field of judicial cooperation.
●        In recent years, social, cultural and commercial relations between India and Zambia have evolved in meaningful direction.
●        By signing a cooperation agreement in the field of justice, better relations between the two countries will be strengthened and judicial reforms will get new direction.
 
Approval of Memorandum of Understanding between India and UK and Northern Ireland on Cooperation and Information Exchanges


●        The Union Cabinet has approved the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between India and Britain and Northern Ireland on countering international crimes and cooperation and information exchange for dealing with serious organized crime.
●        Between India and the United Kingdom, there is already agreement for crime receipts and crime measures (including currency transfers involved) and for the search, restraint and seizure of terrorist funds.
 
Agreement between India and South Asia Cooperative Environment Program for Cooperation on Oil and Chemical Pollution in South Asian Maritime Sectors


●        Under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Union Cabinet has approved the Memorandum of Understanding between India and South Asia Cooperative Environment Program for cooperation on oil and chemical pollution in the South Asian Sea region.
●        The purpose of the Memorandum of Understanding is to encourage close cooperation for safeguarding marine environment in the region between India and South Asian Maritime countries ie Bangladesh, Maldives, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

Indu Bhushan appointed CEO of Ayushman Bharat Mission
 
●        Indu Bhushan was appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Ayushman India National Health Security Mission on March 27, 2018.
●        Under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Union Cabinet gave final approval to the name of Indu Bhushan for the CEO of Ayushman Bharat Mission.
●        Bhushan is currently the Director General of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) based in Manila and he has been appointed for this post for two years.
 

Judge Javad Rahim appointed acting guardian of NGT
 
●        On March 27, 2018, the Supreme Court appointed Justice Javad Rahim, the former Chief Justice of the Karnataka High Court as the acting Chairman of the National Green Tribunal (NGT).
●        Justice Rahim is currently a judicial member of NGT.
●        The appointment, headed by Chief Justice of India Justice Justice Deepak Mishra, on the petition of Justice N. Amitabh Bachra and Justice DK Chandrachud on the petition of the NG Bar Association.

10 years in jail for printing fake news in Malaysia
 
●        In Malaysia, printing of fake news can be a 10-year jail term and a huge fine can be imposed.
●        The government of Malaysia's Prime Minister Najib Razak introduced a bill in Parliament on 26 March 2018 to make Fake News illegal.
●        This step has raised concerns about the freedom of the media.
●        In the Bill, news, information, data or reports which are completely or partly false, have been referred to as Fake News. It also includes feature, visual and audio recording.
