GUJRAT state assembly broke the record for longest sitting on a single day.
• Gujarat assembly’s Friday’s proceedings commenced at 10 am and concluded at around 12:09 am on Saturday, clocking more than 12 hours and nine minutes.
• The 14th Gujarat Legislative Assembly has broken its 1993 record of the longest sitting on a single day with its proceedings lasting for more than 12 hours and nine minutes on Friday-Saturday
• The “historic” feat was celebrated by the legislators and officials after the announcement was made by the Speaker.
• The proceedings of the Assembly had lasted for 12 hours and eight minutes on January 6, 1993.

Meeting of the BRICS Ministers of Foreign Affairs / International Relations.
• The meeting of the BRICS Ministers of Foreign Affairs / International Relations took place on 26 July 2019, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, with the representation of the Federative Republic of Brazil, the Russian Federation,the Republic of India, the People's Republic of China and the Republic of South Africa.
• The Ministers exchanged views on key issues on the international agenda.Theyalso reviewed with satisfaction the progress of BRICS cooperation featuring mutual respect and understanding, equality, solidarity, openness, inclusiveness and mutually beneficial cooperation. The Ministers agreed to further deepen BRICS three-pillar-driven cooperation in the areas of economy, peace and security and people-to-people exchanges.
• The Ministers reaffirmed the commitment toupholding and respecting international law and toan internationalsystemin which sovereign States cooperate to maintain peace and security, advance sustainable development and ensure the promotion and protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms for all. Theyunderlined support for multilateralism and the central role of the UN in international affairs,and the commitment to uphold the purposes and principles enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations. They reiterated the urgent need to strengthen and reform the multilateral system, including the UN, the WTO, the IMF, and other international organizations. The international system,including international organizations, in particular the United Nations,which Ministers stressed must be driven by Member States, should promote the interests of all.The Ministers reaffirmedthe commitment to the principles of mutual respect, sovereign equality, democracy, inclusiveness and strengthened collaboration,andto build a brighter shared future for the global community through mutually beneficial cooperation.To this end, international governance should be more inclusive, representativeand participator.
Iran Tests Medium-Range Missile.
• A Shahab-3 medium-range missile. It can fly 1,000 kilometers, or 620 miles.
• The missile was launched from the southern coast of Iran and landed east of Tehran, the official said on Thursday, adding that it flew about 1,100 kilometers, or about 680 miles, and stayed inside Iran for the entire flight.

TIFF 2019: Meryl Streep to receive inaugural TIFF Tribute acting award.
• Meryl Streep will be the first recipient of an acting award bestowed as part of the Toronto International Film Festival.
• The festival's organizers announced Friday that Streep will receive the inaugural TIFF Tribute Actor Award during a Sept. 9 charity gala.
• Streep stars in Steven Soderbergh's upcoming Panama Papers film The Laundromat with Gary Oldman and Antonio Banderas. The film will have its North American premiere at TIFF.
• The award is separate from honours bestowed on films screening at the September festival.

गुजरात विधानसभा ने एक दिन की सबसे लंबी बैठक का 1993 का अपना रिकार्ड तोड़ा
• चौदहवीं गुजरात विधानसभा ने एक दिन की सबसे लंबी बैठक के 1993 के अपने ही रिकार्ड को तोड़ दिया। शुक्रवार-शनिवार को विधानसभा की कार्यवाही 12 घंटे और नौ मिनट से अधिक समय चली।
इस संबंध में विधानसभा अध्यक्ष की घोषणा के बाद विधायकों और अधिकारियों ने "ऐतिहासिक" घटना का उत्सव मनाया।
शनिवार को जारी आधिकारिक विज्ञप्ति के अनुसार, "चौथे सत्र का अंतिम दिन गुजरात विधानसभा के लिए ऐतिहासिक रहा क्योंकि इसकी कार्यवाही 12 घंटे और नौ मिनट से अधक समय तक चली और इससे छह जनवरी 1993 का उसका रिकार्ड टूट गया।"
छह जनवरी 1993 को विधानसभा की कार्यवाही 12 घंटे और आठ मिनट तक चली थी।
इसमें कहा गया कि शुक्रवार की कार्यवाही सुबह 10 बजे शुरू हुई और देर रात (शनिवार) करीब 12 बजकर नौ मिनट तक चली। इस दौरान विधायकों द्वारा लिये गए भोजनावकाश का वक्त नहीं जोड़ा गया।

ब्रिक्स राष्ट्रों ने सभी देशों से अपने क्षेत्र से आतंक के वित्तपोषण को रोकने की अपील की
• भारत ने अन्य ब्रिक्स राष्ट्रों के साथ शुक्रवार को सभी देशों से आतंकवादी नेटवर्क के वित्तपोषण और अपने क्षेत्रों से आतंकवादी गतिविधियों को रोकने की अपील की। ब्रिक्स ने इस मौके पर सभी तरह के आतंकवाद की निंदा की। रियो डी जेनेरियो में ब्रिक्स (ब्राजील, रूस, भारत, चीन और दक्षिण अफ्रीका) देशों के विदेश मामलों/अंतरराष्ट्रीय संबंधों के मंत्रियों की बैठक के दौरान, पांचों देशों ने संयुक्त राष्ट्र के तहत अंतरराष्ट्रीय कानूनी आधार पर आतंकवाद से लड़ने के लिए ठोस प्रयास करने का आह्वान किया। भारत का प्रतिनिधित्व सड़क परिवहन और राजमार्ग राज्य मंत्री जनरल (सेवानिवृत्त) वी के सिंह ने किया। पांचों देशों ने आतंकवाद को रोकने और उसका मुकाबला करने में देशों तथा उनके सक्षम निकायों की प्राथमिक भूमिका को रेखांकित किया। इन देशों के मंत्रियों ने संकल्प व्यक्त करते हुए कहा कि आतंकवाद के खिलाफ प्रभावी परिणाम सुनिश्चित करने के लिए व्यापक दृष्टिकोण की आवश्यकता है। बैठक के बाद जारी एक बयान में कहा गया कि व्यापक दृष्टिकोण में कट्टरता, आतंकियों की भर्ती, विदेशी आतंकवादियों की यात्रा, आतंक के वित्तपोषण स्रोतों और माध्यमों को प्रतिबंधित करना, आतंकी ठिकानों को नष्ट करना तथा सूचना और संचार प्रौद्योगिकी (आईसीटी) के माध्यम से आतंकी संस्थाओं को इंटरनेट का दुरुपयोग करने से रोकना शामिल होना चाहिए।
ईरान ने मध्यम दूरी की मिसाइल का परीक्षण किया
• अमेरिकी अधिकारियों ने शुक्रवार को कहा कि ईरान ने अपने हथियार कार्यक्रम पर रोक लगाने की ट्रंप प्रशासन की मांग की अवज्ञा करते हुए मध्यम दूरी की एक बैलिस्टिक मिसाइल का परीक्षण किया है। अधिकारियों ने कहा कि ईरान ने इस परीक्षण के जरिए अमेरिकी प्रतिबंधों के खिलाफ अपने इरादों को प्रदर्शित किया है। ईरान और पश्चिमी देशों के बीच खासतौर पर फारस की खाड़ी और हर्मुज जलडमरूमध्य में जहाजों के वाणिज्यिक परिवहन की सुरक्षा को लेकर बढ़े तनावों के बीच तेहरान ने यह परीक्षण किया है। अमेरिकी आर्थिक प्रतिबंधों के बढ़ाये जाने पर ईरान ने विभिन्न सैन्य गतिविधियों के जरिये उसका जवाब दिया है। व्हाइट हाऊस ने एक संक्षिप्त बयान में कहा कि वह ईरान में एक मिसाइल का परीक्षण किये जाने से अवगत है।

मकरान कप बॉक्सिंग में भारत ने जीते एक स्वर्ण, पांच रजत पदक
• राष्ट्रीय चैंपियन दीपक सिंह (49 किग्रा) ईरान के चाबहार में मकरान कप मुक्केबाजी टूर्नामेंट में स्वर्ण पदक जीतने वाले एकमात्र भारतीय मुक्केबाज रहे जबकि पांच अन्य को फाइनल में हार के साथ रजत पदक से संतोष करना पड़ा।
दीपक ने बुधवार रात हुए फाइनल में जाफर नसीरी को हराया। भारत के अन्य पांच मुक्केबाजों को हालांकि फाइनल में हार का सामना करना पड़ा। पी ललित प्रसाद (52 किग्रा), राष्ट्रमंडल खेलों के रजत पदक विजेता मनीष कौशिक (60 किग्रा), दुर्योधन सिंह नेगी (69 किग्रा), संजीत (91 किग्रा) और राष्ट्रमंडल खेलों के रजत पदक विजेता सतीश कुमार (91 किग्रा से अधिक) को रजत पदक से संतोष करना पड़ा।
