Current Affairs 27th April 2018: NATIONAL  NEWS

Union minister PP Chaudhary reached Barbados

●        The Union Law and Justice and Corporate Affairs Minister of State, Shri P. P. Choudhary, started the second phase of their tour of the two countries as part of the broad contact plan launched by the Ministry of External Affairs.
●        Chaudhary reached Barbados on April 25, 2018.
●        He started his tour with the interaction with NRI families, in which he talked mainly to the medical professionals who contributed to the health administration and medical education institutions of Barbados.
 
During the period from August, 2017 to March 2018, total revenues of Rs 7.19 lakh crore were collected under GST

●        In the period between August, 2017 and March 2018, during the financial year 2017-18, collection of revenue amounting to Rs 7.19 lakh crore has been collected under the Goods and Services Tax (GST).
●        It includes CGST of 1.19 lakh crore, SGST of Rs 1.72 lakh crore, IGST of Rs 3.66 lakh crore and a cess of 62,021 crore or cess.
●        The average monthly collection during this period of eight months has been Rs 89,885 crore.

Tourism Minister inaugurates Noida campus of Indian Cooking Institute

●        Minister of State for Tourism (Independent Charge) and Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology, Shri K.J. Alfonso today inaugurated the Noida campus of Indian Cooking Institute (ICI).
●        This institute is in line with the resolution of creating expert skilled manpower in the hospitality sector and promoting research and development in cooking.
●        Inaugurating the institute, Shri K.J. Alfons said that in the last years tourism sector has grown rapidly.
 
Policy Commission announces launch of Atal New India Challenge

●        The Atal Innovation Mission of the Policy Commission announced the launch of the Atal New India Challenge on April 26, 2018, which came into being after the call for the Prime Minister's innovations and technologies to make them relevant to the people.
●        A grant of up to one crore rupees will be given to the applicants, who demonstrate their ability to provide strength, purpose and technologies to the product.
●        Apart from this grant assistance, additional support will be provided in various consultations, handholding, incubation and various steps of commercialization and will also create comprehensive deployment.

Hyderabad's top cop in Civil Services Examination

●        UPSC has announced the results of the Civil Services Examination 2017.
●        Durrishty Adideep of Hyderabad has topped the Civil Services Examination of the Union Public Service Commission, while the second is Anu Kumari and the third is the name of Sachin Gupta.
●        The pre-examination of the UPSC Civil Service was held on 18 June 2017, the main examination was held on October 28, 2017.

Irani inaugurated the National Media Faculty Development Center

●        Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Smt. Zubin Irani addressed the 69th Conclave session of the Development Journalism Course of the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC), New Delhi today.
●        On this occasion, he announced a scholarship of Rs 25,000 in memory of Deen Dayal Upadhyay for the people of Indian origin who have done exemplary work for development journalism.
●        He also gave certificates to 25 students associated with development journalism of 16 countries.

Mike Pompey sworn in as America's Foreign Minister
 
●        Mike Pompey took oath as the US 70th Foreign Minister on April 27, 2018.
●        Earlier the US Senate confirmed his nomination.
●        Soon after the swearing-in ceremony, the US State Department announced that Pompey would travel to Brussels, Riyadh, Jerusalem and Amman from April 26 to April 30.

Santosh Gangwar provided NSCI Security Award - 2017

●        Minister of State for Labor and Employment (Independent Charge) Mr. Santosh Gangwar has said that his Ministry is committed to providing employment security, wage security, social security and security and health to every worker of the country.
●        In addition, the Ministry has taken steps for simplification, amalgamation and discrimination of central labor laws.

Virat Kohli Nominated for Sports Ratna, Dravid Dronacharya and Gavaskar Dhyan Chand Award

Shetanshu Yashchandra was selected for the Saraswati award
 
●        The prominent poet, dramatist and scholar of Gujarati, Sheetanshu Yash Chandra was announced to be given the 27th Saraswati award on April 27, 2018.
●        The 13-member selection committee chaired by former Lok Sabha Secretary Dr. Subhash C. Kashyap decided to honor Yashchandra with the Saraswati Award for the year 2017 for his poetry book 'Vakhar'.
●        The award includes a sum of 15 lakh rupees, a copper letter and a citation.

India signs legal agreement with National Bank for National Biopharma Mission
 
●        The Central Government has recently signed an agreement with the World Bank for financing arrangements to accelerate the research towards the initial development of biopharmaceuticals under the National Biopharma Mission.
●        The National Biopharma Mission has been approved for a period of five years at a cost of US $ 250 million.

9 candidates shortlisted for Deputy Governor's post of Reserve Bank
 
●        The search panel headed by the Cabinet Secretary , Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank , S. s. On May 10, candidates will be interviewed for the selection of Mundra's successor.

●        The company said that in the meeting of the Board of Directors on Thursday, approved the setting up of 357 kilograms of annual capacity with ethylene glycol project to Paradip.
