Nafed performs impressive
 

●        Until recently, the Indian National Agricultural Co-operation Marketing Federation (NAFED), a financial crisis and bank littered in debt, has performed impressively with record profits for the financial year 2017-18.
●        With this, Nafed has been able to give a loan of Rs. 220 crores as cash payment to the lending bank while completing a portion of the agreement to pay Rs. 478 crores.
●        Nafed had signed a debt settlement mortgage letter at its headquarters in New Delhi on March 27, 2018.
 
Indian Bureau of Standards issued the first license for liquid chlorine on All India basis
 
●        Indian Bureau of Standards (BIS) has given first license to liquid crystal alloy to Gujarat Alkalies and Chemicals Limited on All India basis.
●        This is the first license given on All India basis.
●        License will be effective for a period of one year from April 12, 2018.
 
Ashwini Kumar Handbook on Awareness of Chaosabase Accident
●        Ashwini Kumar Choubey, Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, released a booklet under 'Road Safety Week' today.
●        On this occasion, he said that in the year 2016, there were 480562 road accidents in our country, in which 494624 persons were injured and 150785 of them died.
 
Rajnath Singh chaired the 23rd meeting of the Western Zonal Council in Gandhinagar
●        In the chairmanship of the Union Home Minister, Shri Rajnath Singh, 23rd meeting of the Western Zonal Council was held in Gandhinagar, Gujarat today.
●        Apart from Chief Minister of Maharashtra and Gujarat, in the meeting, senior officials of Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa and Union Territory of Daman and Diu, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and senior officers of the Central and State Governments joined the meeting.
●        Mr. Vijay Rupani, Chief Minister of Gujarat emphasized the need for coordination and cooperation of Western zonal states on the issue of maritime security in his welcome speech.
 
National Foreign Trade Directory Issued


●        Mr. Giriraj Singh, Minister of State (Independent Charge) of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSSME) and Dr. Arun Kumar Panda, MSME Secretary, issued a directory for promoting exporters during the recently concluded International SME Summit in New Delhi.
●        In this directory, there will be information about export-import offices, policy makers, controllers, coordinators and all Export Promotion Councils, commodity boards, development authorities, trade and industry organizations, established, approved or sponsored by MSME.
 
Ministry of Tourism launches 360-degree Virtual Reality (VR) video on Incredible India


●        The Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, launched 360-degree Virtual Reality (VR) Experience Video on Incredible India today with the help of Google India.
●        Describing India as a destination for various experiences, Minister of State for Tourism (Independent Charge) Mr. K.J. Alfonso said "India is a prestigious destination, which offers unique experiences of climate, geography, culture, art, literature and food."
 
Cabinet approves declaration of scheduled areas of Rajasthan


●        The Cabinet approved the declaration of scheduled areas in relation to Rajasthan under the 5th schedule of the Constitution of India.
●        As a result this area will be able to take advantage of the facilities given to the scheduled areas.
●        In this, 33 villages of nine villages of Panchmahals of Bali Tehsil of Pali district have been included.

HRD launches 2nd edition of Advanced India Campaign
 
●        The Human Resource Development Ministry launched the second edition of the Advanced India Campaign on April 25, 2018.
●        Under this, students of 750 higher educational institutions of the country will adopt the villages.
 
India is the fourth most tolerant country in the world
 
●        Recently, a survey was conducted to measure the scale of tolerance in the world, according to which various countries have been ranked.
●        India is at fourth place on the scale of tolerance on the world panel.
●        Canada in the first place, China and Malaysia in second and third positions.
 
 
Indu Malhotra will be the first woman lawyer to become judge in the Supreme Court
 
●        Senior Advocate Indu Malhotra will be the first woman lawyer of the country to become a judge directly in the Supreme Court.
●        About three months ago, the Supreme Court Collegium sent her name to the Supreme Court Judge.
●        The central government has accepted the recommendation of the college.
●        At this time there are 24 judges in the Supreme Court, in which only one woman is judge Justice R Banumathi.
●        Since assuming charge of Indu she will be the second woman judge.

India-Malaysia military Exercise Harimau Shakti 2018 started
 
●        The armies of India and Malaysia will be conducting a joint training exercise 'Harimao Shakti' in the dense forests of Sengai Paddik located in Halu Lunat of Malaysia from April 30, 2018 to May 13, 2018.
●        The objective of this exercise is to increase mutual cooperation and coordination between the two countries' armies and to share expertise in the operation of chaos prevention operations in dense forests.
●        As part of the exercise, both countries will share expertise of each other's parties to conduct a joint training exercise in the dense forests of Sengai Purdik located in Hulu Lunat of Malaysia.

India ranked 138th in World Press Freedom Index
 
●        The World Press Freedom Index-2012 report was released by the International Organization, Reporters Without Borders (RSF) on April 25, 2018.
●        In this report, India's ranking has dropped two places to 138th place compared to last year.
●        In India, social media networks are spreading hatred against journalists and violent incidents are being promoted against them.

Generation of 31 lakh jobs in six months: Policy commission report
●        For the first time, the central government has estimated payroll jobs, according to which 31 lakh workers are involved in the formal sector in the last 6 months.
●        Based on the number of contributors to EPFO, the government has estimated this.
●        According to the statement released by the Commission , 31.1 lakh new people have been added in the payroll from September 2017 to February 2018 on the basis of data of EPFO, which are of all age group.
 
Government will buy stake in National Housing Bank
●        The central government will soon acquire the stake of the Reserve Bank of India in the National Housing Bank .
●        Cash transfers will not take place in the transfer of the stake, this cash will be a neutral deal.
●        Currently, the Reserve Bank of India has a 100 percent stake in the NHB.
 
Government targets record foodgrain production of 28.37 million tonnes
●        The agriculture ministry has set a record production target of 28.37 million tonnes for the new crop year starting from July this year.
●        Out of this, the government has planned to achieve 14.02 million tonnes of foodgrain production from summer crop sown crop.
●        For this, forecast of normal stay of monsoon season between June to September has been laid.
 
HDFC Bank raises interest rates on fixed deposits
●        HDFC Bank has increased the interest rate on fixed deposit (term deposit) to 100 basis points (1 percent) to motivate customers to deposit money .
●        Now, customers of HDFC Bank will get 7 percent interest on deposits for a period of more than 1 year and 7.5 percent for senior citizens, while those who deposit above Rs 1 crore will be able to get even more returns.
