Prime Minister released a commemorative postage stamp on Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna


●        Narendra Modi today released a commemorative postage stamp on former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, late Shri Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna.
●        On this occasion, the Prime Minister described Mr. Bahuguna as a committed leader of democratic values.
●        He said that Mr Bahuguna was motivated by different leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Acharya Vinoba Bhave, Acharya Narendra Dev, Ram Manohar Lohia and Chandrasekhar Azad.
 
 
Approval of Memorandum of Understanding between India and Sao Tome and Principe for cooperation in the field of traditional medicine and homeopathy


●        The Union Cabinet gave its approval to the MoU between India and São Tomé and the Prince Pace for prior cooperation in the field of traditional medicine and homeopathy.
●        The memorandum of understanding was signed in March 2018.
●        The Memorandum of Understanding will increase bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the fields of traditional medicine.
●        Given this common cultural heritage, it will be very beneficial for both the countries.
 
Approval of MOU between India and Sao Tome and Principe for cooperation in the field of medicinal plants
●        The Union Cabinet has given its retrospective approval for the MoU between India and Sao Tome and Principe for cooperation in the field of medicinal plants.
●        This MoU was signed on March 14, 2018.
●        India is one of the world's most prosperous countries in terms of biodiversity, where there are 15 agro-climatic zones.

Approval of MoU between medical regulatory agencies of BRICS countries to help in regulating therapeutic products for human use


●        The Union Cabinet has approved the signing of MoU between medical regulatory agencies of BRICS countries (MoU) to help in regulating therapeutic products for human use.
●        It will be easier to develop a better understanding of the regulatory aspects among the parties related to above mentioned MOU, and at the same time, BRICS countries from India can be helped to export therapeutic products.
 
Approval of declaration of scheduled areas in relation to Rajasthan under 5th article of India's Constitution
●        The Union Cabinet has approved its declaration of scheduled areas in relation to Rajasthan under the 5th Schedule of the Constitution of India by canceling the Constitution Order (CO) 114 dated 12 February 1981, and by applying a new constitution order.
●        With the implementation of the new constitution order, people of Scheduled Tribes of Rajasthan will be ensured the benefits of the safeguards available under the 5th schedule of the Constitution of India.
 
Cabinet approves minimum support prices of raw jute for 2018-19 season


●        The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs today gave its approval to increase the minimum support price of raw jute for the year 2018-19 season.
●        The minimum support price of raw jute of net average quality (FAQ) for the 2018-19 season has been increased to Rs 3,700 per quintal.
●        The price was 3,500 rupees per quintal in the 2017-18 season.


Reconstitution of National Bamboo Mission Approval
●        The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs today approved the centrally sponsored National Bamboo Mission under the National Mission for Sustainable Agriculture during the remaining period of the 14th Finance Commission.
●        The mission will ensure the entire development of the bamboo sector by creating a complete value chain and establishing effective interaction with the industry of the growers (farmers).

The Union Home Minister will chair the 23rd meeting of the Western Regional Council in Gandhinagar tomorrow
●        The 23rd meeting of the Western Regional Council will be held in Gandhinagar, Gujarat.
●        The Western Regional (Zonal) Council includes many states like Gujarat, Maharashtra and Goa and many Union Territories like Daman and Diu and Dadra and Nagar Haveli.

'Digital Trade Desk' will be established by the MSME Ministry

 
●        The first International SME Conference organized by the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) was concluded on 24th April, 2018 in New Delhi.
●        In this three-day conference, 160 SMEs (Small and Medium Enterprises) from 39 countries participated.
●        Poland's delegation was the largest with 15 SMEs in this conference.
 
 
Government allows foreign nationals to travel to Nagaland, Mizoram and Manipur
●        The Union Home Ministry approved foreign nationals to travel to Nagaland, Mizoram, Manipur without permission.
●        The Union Home Ministry has decided to relax the ban imposed for six decades.
●        Under the exemption given for one April to five years, foreign citizens can go to Nagaland, Mizoram and Manipur.
●        The government has not only given this exemption to the citizens of Pakistan, China and Afghanistan.

Approval of long-term agreements for supply of iron ore to Japan and South Korea via MMTC Limited
●        The Union Cabinet has approved the long-term agreements (LTA) for the supply of iron ore (ammunition and fine) of iron ore (shell and granular) of iron content of Japan's steel mills (JSM) and South Korea's POSCO to more than 64 percent of iron content type, Has renewed the renewal.
●        The current LTAs are valid till March 31, 2018. Renewed LTA with Japan's steel mills and POSCO of South Korea will be valid until April 1, 2018 to 31 March, 2023.

US banned export of Russian military goods
 
●        The US has recently banned the export of Russian military equipment.
●        This decision could prevent the purchase of arms of other US allies around Asia.
●        According to this, if any country works with Russia in defense and intelligence, then it will also have to bear the restrictions.

●        The third ship of Landing Craft Utility MK-4 project was today included in the Indian Navy in Port Blair.
●        Vice Admiral Bimal Verma, AVSM, ADC, Commander in Chief - A & N Command added this vessel to INS Navy as INLSU L53.

India signed a loan agreement with the World Bank for US $ 125 million


●        An agreement with the World Bank was signed in New Delhi on April 24, 2018 for IBRD loan of 125 million US dollars (equivalent) for 'Innovation in India for Inclusive Project'.
●        On behalf of the Government of India, this loan agreement was signed by Joint Secretary in the Department of Economic Affairs, Shri Sameer Kumar Khare and on behalf of World Bank, Mr. Hisham Abdo, Acting Country Director, World Bank (India).
