Zimbabwe's Vice President met President Shri Ramnath Kovind


●        The Vice President of Zimbabwe, His Excellency Dr. (retd) Dr. Constantino Chivenga met President Shri Ramnath Kovind at Rashtrapati Bhawan here today (March 23, 2018).
●        Welcoming Dr. Constantino Chivenga to India, the President said that he is delighted to welcome Dr. Constantino Chivenga as the special envoy of Zimbabwe's President.
●        The President said that India and Zimbabwe have a strong relationship.
●        After Zimbabwe's change of power, India hopes that the relations between the two countries will be stronger.

5th Indian maize Conference 2018 Launches


●        In recent years there has been a significant increase in maize production, which has been possible due to the increase in productivity along with the area.
●        This was stated during the 5th Indian maize Conference held in FICCI, New Delhi, Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Shri Radha Mohan Singh.
●        The average productivity of maize in India is 2.43 tonne per hectare.
 
Roundtable of Invest India


●        Minister of Commerce & Industry and Civil Aviation Suresh Prabhu chaired the Roundtable of Invest India in New Delhi today.
●        On this occasion, in the presence of the Minister there were discussions with the respective ministries and departments of the Government of India regarding the various regulatory issues arising from the introduction of the e-pharmacy, NBFC, unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) and the Door to Door Retail Delivery Sector of Petroleum.

For the better management of e-waste in the country, the amendment in the E-waste Management Act


●        Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Dr. Harshvardhan has said that the Government has amended the E-waste Rules for eco-friendly effective management of E-waste.
●        Shri Harshvardhan said that the changes in the rules have been done with the intent to streamline the e-waste disposal in the country to provide legality to the units engaged in the recycling or dismantling of e-waste and to organize them.
 
Smart card for health services


●        Chhattisgarh government is implementing a central sponsored scheme, National Health Insurance Scheme (RSBY), including its state scheme ie Chief Minister health insurance scheme (MSBY).
●        Under RSBY, 11 other defined categories of BPL families and unorganized laboratories were included.
●        The families which have not been taken in RSBY have been included under MSBY.

●        Delhi Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Manish Sisodia presented the budget for the financial year 2018-19 in the Assembly on March 22, 2018.
●        Manish Sisodia presented a budget of Rs 53 thousand crore.
●        In the last 3 years, the budget has increased from 30,900 crores to 53 thousand crores.
●        This is the first 'Green Budget' of the Delhi Government.
 
Union Cabinet approves integrated development plan for silk industry


●        The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has approved the Integrated Scheme for the development of Central Region Silk Industry for the next three years from 2017-18 to 2019-20 on March 21, 2018.
●        The Cabinet has approved the total allocation of Rs. 2161.68 crores for the implementation of the scheme in the three years from 2017-18 to 2019-20.
●        This scheme will be implemented by the Ministry of Textiles through the Central Silk Board (CSB).

Agreement between ISRO and BHEL for the production of lithium-ion batteries used in space work


●        Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has signed a technology transfer agreement with Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) for the production of lithium-ion batteries used for space work.
●        On this agreement, the ISRO president, Dr. K., at ISRO's headquarters in Bangalore yesterday. Signed in the presence of Mr. Atul Sobti, Chairman and Managing Director, Sivan and BHEL.
●        Leo-ion batteries are used by ISRO as their energy resources, reliability and long-lasting properties, due to the launch of satellites and spacecraft as energy sources.

Supply of premier offshore patrol vessels to Sri Lankan navy on behalf of GSL


●        Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL) has made supply of second-class patrol vessel to the Sri Lankan Navy 25 days earlier, which was included in the Sri Lankan navy fleet at a function organized at Vaddem, Vasco Da Gama, Goa.
●        This patrol vessel will be the most modern vessel of the Sri Lankan naval fleet.
●        This is the fourth modern patrol vessel supplied by the GSL to Sri Lanka Navy this fiscal year.

John Bolton will be Trump's new national security advisor
