National
PM to inaugurate VAIBHAV Summit on 2nd October 2020
• Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Vaishwik Bharatiya Vaigyanik (VAIBHAV) Summit on 2nd October’2020 through videoconferencing.
• The VAIBHAV Summit is a joint initiative of all S&T and Academic Organisations of India (working in Research, Academic and Scientific fields) to enable deliberations on thought processes, practices and R&D culture with a problem-solving approach for well-defined objectives.
• The month-long Summit will provide a platform to leverage the expertise and knowledge of global Indian researchers for solving emerging challenges and create an ecosystem of Knowledge and Innovation in the country through global outreach.
10th Meeting of BRICS National Security Advisors
• 10th Meeting of the BRICS High Representatives on National Security was held virtually. The 10th meeting of the NSAs was hosted by the current chair of BRICS i.e. Russia.
• The National Security Advisors of the BRICS nations met to deliberate upon the issues related to strengthening political security and cooperation among the five countries.
• National Security Advisor Ajit Doval represented India in a virtual meet of top security officials from Brazil-Russia-India-China-South Africa (BRICS) grouping.
Tamil Nadu becomes first state to unveil ethical AI, blockchain, cybersecurity policies in country
• Tamil Nadu has become the first state in India to launch policies on Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain and Cybersecurity policies.
• Chief minister Edapaddi K Palaniswami unveiled the Tamil Nadu Cyber Security Policy, 2020, Tamil Nadu Blockchain Policy, 2020, and Tamil Nadu Safe and Ethical Artificial Intelligence Policy, 2020 at Connect 2020.
• The project will be implemented by establishing and leveraging the State Family Data Base (SFDB) and Block-Chain Backbone infrastructure.

Fitch Solutions projects India’s GDP growth at -8.6% in 2020-21
• Fitch Solutions has revised downward its forecast for Indian economic growth and now estimates that India’s GDP will contract by 8.6% in 2020-21 (FY21).Earlier this was estimated at -4.5%.
• It has also forecasted a 5 percent year-on-year (y-o-y) growth in 2021 and 2022.
Obituary
Renowned US Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg passes away at 87
• Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, an American jurist who served as an associate justice of the Supreme Court of the United States, has passed away due to complications of metastatic pancreatic cancer. She was 87.
• She was appointed in 1993 by President Bill Clinton and served until her death in 2020.She was the second woman to serve on the U.S. Supreme Court.
Veteran Communist leader and former Lok Sabha Member Roza Deshpande passes away
• Veteran Communist leader and former Lok Sabha Member Roza Deshpande died at her residence in Mumbai due to old age. She was 91. Deshpande, was the daughter of Shripad Amrit Dange, one of the founders of the Communist Party of India.
• Deshpande had taken part in the Sanyukta Maharashtra Movement (the movement for the creation of the State of Maharashtra) and the Goa liberation struggle as a Member of the All India Students’ Federation. In 1974, she was elected to the Lok Sabha from the Bombay South Central constituency.

• HDFC Bank has topped the BrandZ Top 75 Most Valuable Indian Brands 2020 Rankings. HDFC Bank has topped this ranking for the 7th consecutive year. It has a total brand value of more than $20.2 billion
• LIC is ranked second while Tata Consulting Services has been ranked at no.3.

• The International Day of Peace (or World Peace Day) is observed annually on 21 September to spread awareness and preach peace and harmony all across the globe.
• The 2020 theme for the International Day of Peace is “Shaping Peace Together.”
• The Day established in 1981 by the United Nations General Assembly. It is also known as World Peace Day.
World Alzheimer's Day
• World Alzheimer's Day is observed on 21 September every year to spread awareness about Alzheimer and Dementia disease.
• The theme for World Alzheimer Day 2020 is ‘Let’s talk about dementia’.
• In Alzheimer’s disease loss of connections between nerve cells (neurons) in the brain occurs. Progressively brain disorder which slowly destroys memory and thinking skills etc. In older adults it is the most common cause of dementia.

VAIBHAV: वैशविक भारतीय वैज्ञानिक शिखर सम्मेलन 2020
• वर्चुअल वैशविक भारतीय वैग्यानिक (VAIBHAV) शिखर सम्मेलन का उद्घाटन 2 अक्टूबर 2020 को माननीय प्रधान मंत्री द्वारा किया जाएगा। शिखर सम्मेलन लगभग एक महीने के विचार-विमर्श सत्र के बाद होगा जो कि 3 अक्टूबर से 25 अक्टूबर 2020 तक शुरू होगा।
• VAIBHAV शिखर सम्मेलन भारत के सभी एसएंडटी और अकादमिक संगठनों (अनुसंधान, अकादमिक और वैज्ञानिक क्षेत्रों में काम करना) की एक संयुक्त पहल है जो अच्छी तरह से परिभाषित उद्देश्यों के साथ समस्या-समाधान दृष्टिकोण के साथ विचार प्रक्रियाओं, प्रथाओं और आर एंड डी संस्कृति पर विचार-विमर्श को सक्षम करने के लिए है।
• महीने भर चलने वाली शिखर बैठक उभरती चुनौतियों को हल करने के लिए वैश्विक भारतीय शोधकर्ताओं की विशेषज्ञता और ज्ञान का लाभ उठाने और वैश्विक आउटरीच के माध्यम से देश में ज्ञान और नवाचार का एक पारिस्थितिकी तंत्र बनाने के लिए एक मंच प्रदान करेगी।
ब्रिक्स राष्ट्रीय सुरक्षा सलाहकारों की 10 वीं बैठक
• राष्ट्रीय सुरक्षा पर ब्रिक्स देशों के शीर्ष सुरक्षा अधिकारियों की 10 वीं बैठक वर्चुली आयोजित की गई। एनएसए की 10 वीं बैठक ब्रिक्स के वर्तमान अध्यक्ष रूस द्वारा आयोजित की गई। राष्ट्रीय सुरक्षा सलाहकार अजीत डोभाल ने ब्राजील-रूस-भारत-चीन-दक्षिण अफ्रीका (ब्रिक्स) समूह के शीर्ष सुरक्षा अधिकारियों की आभासी बैठक में भारत का प्रतिनिधित्व किया।
• बैठक के प्रतिभागियों ने वैश्विक और क्षेत्रीय सुरक्षा मुद्दों पर सहित आतंकवाद और उग्रवाद से मुकाबला करने के विषय पर भी विचार विमर्श किया। इसके अलावा उन्होंने वैश्विक और क्षेत्रीय सुरक्षा के प्रमुख मुद्दों पर विचारों का आदान-प्रदान किया, साथ ही, सदस्य देशों की कानून प्रवर्तन एजेंसियों के बीच सुरक्षा के क्षेत्र में व्यावहारिक सहयोग के मुख्य क्षेत्रों पर भी चर्चा की गई।
तमिलनाडु देश में नैतिक AI, ब्लॉकचेन, साइबर सुरक्षा नीतियों का अनावरण करने वाला पहला राज्य बना
• आर्टिफिशियल इंटेलिजेंस, ब्लॉकचेन और साइबर सुरक्षा नीतियों पर नीतियों को लॉन्च करने वाला तमिलनाडु भारत का पहला राज्य बन गया है।
• मुख्यमंत्री एडापड्डी के पलानीस्वामी ने तमिलनाडु साइबर सुरक्षा नीति, 2020, तमिलनाडु ब्लॉकचैन नीति, 2020, और तमिलनाडु सुरक्षित और नैतिक कृत्रिम बुद्धिमत्ता नीति, 2020 का अनावरण किया।
• यह परियोजना राज्य परिवार डेटा बेस (SFDB) और ब्लॉक-चेन बैकबोन अवसंरचना की स्थापना और लाभ उठाकर लागू की जाएगी।

वरिष्ठ कम्युनिस्ट नेता रोजा देशपांडे का निधन
• वयोवृद्ध कम्युनिस्ट नेता और पूर्व लोकसभा सदस्य रोजा देशपांडे का मुंबई में उनके आवास पर निधन हो गया। वह 91 वर्ष की थीं। देशपांडे, भारतीय कम्युनिस्ट पार्टी के संस्थापकों में से एक, श्रीपाद अमृत डांगे की बेटी थीं।
• देशपांडे ने संयुक्ता महाराष्ट्र आंदोलन (महाराष्ट्र राज्य के निर्माण के लिए आंदोलन) और गोवा मुक्ति संघर्ष में अखिल भारतीय छात्र संघ के सदस्य के रूप में भाग लिया था। 1974 में, वह बॉम्बे दक्षिण मध्य निर्वाचन क्षेत्र से लोकसभा के लिए चुनी गईं।

• HDFC बैंक ने BrandZ Top 75 Most Valuable Indian Brands 2020 रैंकिंग में शीर्ष स्थान प्राप्त किया है। एचडीएफसी बैंक ने लगातार 7 वें वर्ष इस रैंकिंग में शीर्ष स्थान हासिल किया है। इसकी कुल ब्रांड वैल्यू 20.2 बिलियन डॉलर से अधिक है
• LIC को दूसरा स्थान दिया गया है जबकि Tata Consulting Services को नंबर 3 पर स्थान दिया गया है।

शांति का अंतर्राष्ट्रीय दिवस
• अंतर्राष्ट्रीय शांति दिवस (या विश्व शांति दिवस) 21 सितंबर को प्रतिवर्ष मनाया जाता है ताकि जागरूकता फैलाने के साथ साथ दुनिया भर में शांति और सद्भाव का प्रचार किया जा सके।
