7th International Tourism Mart 
The Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, in association with the Department of Tourism, Government of Tripura and the North Eastern States is organizing the “International Tourism Mart” in Agartala, Tripura from the 22nd to 24thNovember 2018. 
Objective is to highlight the tourism potential of the region in the domestic and international markets.
The earlier editions of this mart have been held in Guwahati, Tawang, Shillong, Gangtok and Imphal.
A total of 41 foreign delegates from 18 countries namely Australia, Canada, China, France, Indonesia, Japan, Kenya, Malaysia, Myanmar, Netherlands, New Zealand, Russia, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Thailand, UAE and USA will be in Tripura for the Mart.


Literacy levels in rural India declined due to migration, UNESCO study
Literacy levels in rural households of India dip with seasonal migration, the UNESCO global education monitoring report 2019 has observed.10.7 million children aged 6 to 14 lived in rural households with a seasonal migrant in 2013. 
Construction sector absorbs the majority of short-term migrants. 
Literacy status in India
India's literacy rate is at 74.04%. Tripura has achieved a literacy rate of 94.65%. Bihar is the least literate state in India, with a literacy of63.82%.


Malaria cases in India declined : WHO report
India reported almost 3 million fewer malaria cases in 2017, a 24% decrease over the previous year, while cases increased worldwide to 219 million from 217 million, after registering a steady decline since 2010, according to the World Malaria Report 2018. India is no longer among the world’s top three countries in terms of number of cases.
In 2017, India launched its five-year National Strategic Plan for Malaria Elimination that shifted focus from malaria “control” to “elimination” and provided a road-map with targets to end malaria in 571 districts out of India’s 678 districts by 2022.

Indira Gandhi peace prize : Centre for Science and Environment
Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) has won this year's Indira Gandhi Prize for Peace, Disarmament and Development. 
The international jury for the awards was headed by former President Pranab Mukerjee.

UN adopts first resolution to fight sexual harassment
Resolution serves as a normative framework on work against sexual harassment, urging member states to condemn violence against women and girls, including sexual harassment, and pursue a policy of eliminating such violence.
Resolution details:
-    to address structural and underlying causes and risk factors.
-    to address discrimination that places women and girls at greater risk of exploitation, violence, and abuse, and to take appropriate action to empower and protect them.
-    states to take necessary measures to ensure that employers in all sectors are held accountable
-    states to encourage digital technology companies, including internet service providers and digital platform.

India – Russia sealed the deal for 2 guided missile stealth frigates.
India and Russia on Tuesday inked a $500 million deal for design and transfer of technology for the construction of two guided-missile stealth frigates at the Goa Shipyard, in yet another indication that New Delhi will continue to have expansive defence collaboration with Moscow despite the threat of financial sanctions from Washington.
A frigate is a type of warship, having various sizes and roles over the last few centuries.
