Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu Inaugurates Round Table Conference Ensuring Cyber Security on Indian Railways
Minister of Railways Shri Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu inaugurated Round Table Conference on “Ensuring Cyber Security on Indian Railways”.
● Chairman, Railway Board, Shri A. K. Mital and other Railway Board Members and senior officials were also present on the occasion.
● Speaking on the occasion, Minister of Railways Shri Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu said that Indian Railways is striding ahead on its mission of transformation.
● A lot of upgradation, modernisation & maintenance of Railways has been taken up in last three years & these processes involve use of technologies.
● Indian Railways has recently launched Rail Cloud Server, Rail Saarthi App, work for developing E.R.P. is also underway. With the exhaustive use of technologies, there are high chances of vulnerability.
● Indian Railways keeps conducting audits to ensure safety checks. Cyber Security is one of the top priorities.
● Therefore, idea of this roundtable is to bring all stakeholders on one platform to ensure that these discussions becomes effective results for cyber security.
● During the discussions, ideas were exchanged on Cyber threats, Security incidents and Advanced solutions.
● The discussions helped in understanding the issues involved and create better awareness among all stakeholders.
● It also helped to provide effective solutions to deal with the Cyber Security threats to IT Systems on Indian Railways.
PPAs signed for first Wind Auction totalling 1050 MW
Union Minister of State (IC) for Power, Coal, New & Renewable Energy and Mines, Shri Piyush Goyal presided over the signing of Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) for purchase of 1050 MW of wind power under Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE)’s first Wind Auction Scheme here today.
● The PPAs were signed between PTC India Ltd., the trading company, and the successful wind power developers.
● As per the PPAs signed, Mytrah Energy, Inox Wind and Ostro Kutch Wind Pvt. Ltd. would supply wind power of capacity 250 MW each.
● Further, Green Infra would supply 249.9 MW and Adani Green Energy 50 MW from their wind power projects through inter-state transmission system at a tariff of Rs. 3.46 per kWh discovered through the open and transparent competitive bidding process.
● PTC India has tied-up this wind power for sale to DISCOMS of a number of States.
● Under this, Uttar Pradesh would get 449.9 MW, Bihar 200 MW, Jharkhand 200 MW, Delhi 100 MW, Assam 50 MW and Odisha 50MW for meeting their Non-Solar Renewable Purchase Obligation (RPO).
Union Government launches Pradhan Mantri Vaya Vandana Yojana
Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on 21 July 2017 formally launched the Pradhan Mantri Vaya Vandana Yojana (PMVVY).
● PMVVY is a pension scheme announced by the Union Government exclusively for the senior citizens aged 60 years and above.
● The scheme is available from 4 May 2017 to 3 May 2018.
● The Scheme can be purchased offline as well as online through Life Insurance Corporation of India which has been given the sole privilege to operate this scheme.
● The scheme provides an assured return of 8 per cent per annum and is payable monthly for 10 years.
● The pension is payable at the end of each period during the policy term of 10 years, as per the frequency of monthly/ quarterly/ half-yearly/ yearly as chosen by the pensioner.
● The scheme is exempted from Service Tax or GST.
● In case of the survival of the pensioner till the end of the policy term of 10 years, the purchase price along with final pension instalment will be payable.
Aajeevika Grameen Express Yojana for poors: Interest free loans on e-rickshaws, three-wheelers
The Union Ministry of Rural Development on 20 July 2017 announced that it will launch a new sub-scheme Aajeevika Grameen Express Yojana (AGEY) under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana – National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM).
● The Aajeevika Grameen Express Yojana aims to provide an alternative source of livelihoods to members of Self Help Groups (SHGs) under DAY-NRLM by facilitating them to operate public transport services in backward rural areas.
● The sub-scheme will provide safe, affordable and community monitored rural transport services like e-rickshaws, 3 and 4 wheeler motorised transport vehicles to connect remote villages with key services and amenities including access to markets, education and health for the overall economic development of the area.
● The Aajeevika Grameen Express Yojana will be implemented in 250 blocks in India on a pilot basis for a period of 3 years from 2017-18 to 2019-20.
● The States have been informed about the number of blocks allocated to them to take up this sub-scheme in the pilot phases.

Qatar issues decree to amend law on combating terrorism
Qatar's Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, issued a decree on 20 July 2017, amending some provisions of a law on combating terrorism.
● The decree establishes two national lists for individuals and terrorist entities and states out the requirements for being included on them.
● The decree includes definitions for terms such as terrorist, crime, terrorist acts, terrorist entities, freezing of funds and financing of terrorism.
● It also identifies procedures related to some terrorist activities.
● The decree also states that individuals and entities accused of terrorist activities have the right to challenge the charges lodged against them before the court.

Harpreet's scored unbeaten 171.
Indian women cricket team vice-captain Harmanpreet Kaur with her unbeaten knock of 171 off 115-balls helped India to storm into finals of the 2017 ICC Women’s World Cup of Cricket.
● To reach the finals of the world cup, India defeated the Australian women’s team by 36 runs at Derby in England on 20 July 2017.
● Harmanpreet hammered 20 fours and seven towering sixes during her blistering knock at the strike rate of 148.69, which is next only to New Zealand’s Suzie Bates’ 160.00 (she scored 168 against Pakistan in 2009).
● With this score, she also bettered her previous ODI best score of 107 runs. Harmanpreet’s blistering century of unbeaten 171 runs is the third highest individual score by any player in the world cup and fifth highest overall.

सुरेश प्रभाकर प्रभु ने भारतीय रेलों में साइबर सुरक्षा सुनिश्चित करने के लिए गोलमेज सम्मेलन का उद्घाटन किया
रेल मंत्री श्री सुरेश प्रभाकर प्रभु ने भारतीय रेलों में साइबर सुरक्षा सुनिश्चित करने के लिए गोलमेज सम्मेलन का उद्घाटन किया।
● इस अवसर पर रेलवे बोर्ड के अध्यक्ष श्री ए के मित्तल,रेलवे बोर्ड के अन्य सदस्य और वरिष्ठ अधिकारी भी उपस्थित थे।
● इस अवसर पर श्री सुरेश प्रभाकर प्रभु ने कहा कि भारतीय रेलवे परिवर्तन के अपने मिशन पर आगे बढ़ रही है।
● पिछले तीन वर्षों में रेलवे के उन्नयन, आधुनिकीकरण और रख-रखाव में काफी कार्य किया गया है और इन प्रक्रियाओं में प्रौद्योगकी का काफी उपयोग किया जाता है।
● भारतीय रेल ने अभी हाल ही में रेल क्लाउड सर्वर, रेल सारथी ऐप की शुरूआत की है और ईआरपी विकसित करने का काम भी चल रहा है। प्रौद्योगिकियों के संपूर्ण उपयोग के कारण आलोचनीयता की भी काफी संभावनाएं रहती हैं।
● भारतीय रेल सुरक्षा जांच सुनिश्चित करने के लिए ऑडिट आयोजित करती है।
● साइबर सुरक्षा एक शीर्ष प्राथमिकता है इसलिए गोलमेज का विचार सभी हितधारकों को एक मंच पर लाना है ताकि ये विचार-विमर्श साइबर सुरक्षा के लिए प्रभावी परिणाम सुनिश्चित कर सकें।
● विचार-विमर्श के दौरान साइबर खतरों, सुरक्षा घटनाओं और उन्नत समाधानों के बारे में विचारों का आदान-प्रदान हुआ। विचार-विमर्श में शामिल मुद्दों को समझने और सभी हितधारकों में बेहतर जागरूकता का सृजन करने में मदद की।
● इसने भारतीय रेलवे में सूचना प्रौद्योगिकी प्रणाली को (आईटी) को साइबर सुरक्षा खतरों से निपटने में प्रभावी समाधान उपलब्ध कराने में भी सहायता की।
कुल 1050 मेगावाट पवन ऊर्जा के लिए ऊर्जा खरीद समझौतों पर हस्ताक्षर
बिजली, कोयला, नवीन एवं नवीकरणीय ऊर्जा और खान राज्य मंत्री (स्वतंत्र प्रभार) श्री पीयूष गोयल ने आज यहां नवीन और नवीकरणीय ऊर्जा मंत्रालय के अधीन प्रथम विंड ऑक्शन योजना के तहत 1050 मेगावाट पवन ऊर्जा की खरीद के लिए ऊर्जा खरीद समझौतों (पीपीए) पर हस्ताक्षर होने वाले कार्यक्रम की अध्यक्षता की।
● इन समझौतों पर कारोबारी कंपनी पीटीसी इंडिया लिमिटेड और सफल पवन ऊर्जा डेवलपर्स के बीच हस्ताक्षर किए गए।
● समझौतों के अनुसार माईत्रह एनर्जी, इनॉक्स विंड और ऑस्ट्रो कच्छ विंड प्राइवेट लिमिटेड में से प्रत्येक 250 मेगावाट क्षमता की पवन ऊर्जा की आपूर्ति करेंगे। इसके अलावा ग्रीन इन्फ्रा 249.9 मेगावाट और अडानी ग्रीन एनर्जी 50 मेगावाट अन्तर्राज्यीय पारेषण प्रणाली के जरिये पवन ऊर्जा उपलब्ध कराएंगे।
● यह समझौते खुली और पारदर्शी नीलामी प्रक्रिया के जरिये किये गये हैं। पीटीसी इंडिया ने कई राज्यों के डिस्कॉम के साथ पवन ऊर्जा की बिक्री हेतु समझौता किया है।
● इसके तहत उत्तर प्रदेश को 449.9 मेगावाट, बिहार 200 मेगावाट, झारखंड 200 मेगावाट, दिल्ली 100 मेगावाट, असम 50 मेगावाट और ओडिशा को 50 मेगावाट बिजली प्राप्त होगी।
● नवीकरणीय ऊर्जा की कीमतों में भारी कमी लाने संबंधी प्रयासों के लिए श्री पीयूष गोयल ने सभी हितधारकों को बधाई दी। मंत्री महोदय ने कहा कि विभिन्न नवीकरणीय ऊर्जा स्रोतों के लिए नवीकरणीय ऊर्जा खरीद शर्तों को अलग-अलग लागू किया जाए और राज्यों को यह आजादी हो कि वे अपनी ऊर्जा आवश्यकताओं को ध्यान में रखते हुए नवीकरणीय ऊर्जा का चयन कर सकें।
● श्री गोयल ने कहा कि पवन ऊर्जा संबंधी बोली प्रक्रिया हर महीने की जाए। उन्होंने मंत्रालय के अधिकारियों को सुझाव दिया कि वे नवीकरणीय ऊर्जा को सस्ती दरों पर आम आदमी तक पहुंचाने की दिशा में काम करें।
वरिष्ठ नागरिकों के लिए प्रधानमंत्री व्यय वंदना योजना आरंभ
वित्त मंत्री अरुण जेटली द्वारा 21 जुलाई 2017 को वरिष्ठ नागरिकों के लिए पेंशन योजना व्यय वंदना योजना आरंभ की गयी.
● इस योजना में आठ प्रतिशत की दर से ब्याज मिलेगा और उसपर जीएसटी भी नहीं लगाया जायेगा.
● यह भारत सरकार द्वारा घोषित एक पेंशन योजना है जिसे 60 वर्ष और इससे अधिक आयु के वरिष्ठ नागरिकों को ध्यान में रखकर बनाया गया है.
● इस योजना में 10 वर्ष के लिये आठ प्रतिशत वार्षिक (प्रभावी रूप से यह 8.30 प्रतिशत के बराबर) निश्चित ब्याज मिलेगा.
● यह योजना सीमित समय के लिए है इसके लिए शरुआत में एक वर्ष तक का समय दिया जायेगा.
● पेंशन 10 साल की अवधि के दौरान पेंशनभोगियों की खरीद के समय चुने गये विकल्प के मुताबिक मासिक, तिमाही, छमाही, वार्षिक मिल सकती है.
● इस योजना को भारतीय जीवन बीमा निगम के माध्यम से (एलआईसी) ऑफलाइन के साथ-साथ ऑनलाइन भी खरीदा जा सकता है.
● दस वर्ष की पॉलिसी अवधि के अंत तक पेंशनधारक के जीवित रहने पर योजना के क्रय मूल्य के साथ पेंशन की अंतिम किस्त का भुगतान किया जाएगा.
आजीविका ग्रामीण एक्सप्रेस योजना: ई-रिक्शा, थ्री-व्हीलर के लिए ब्याज मुक्त लोन
केन्द्रीय ग्रामीण विकास मंत्रालय द्वारा 20 जुलाई 2017 को एक उपयोजना आजीविका ग्रामीण एक्सप्रेस योजना (एजीईवाई) आरंभ करने की घोषणा की गयी.
● इस योजना को दीनदयाल अन्त्योद्या योजना – राष्ट्रीय ग्रामीण आजीविका मिशन के तहत आरंभ किया जायेगा.
● आजीविका ग्रामीण एक्सप्रेस योजना का उद्देश्य डीएआर-एनआरएलएम के तहत स्वयं सहायता समूहों (एसएचजी) के सदस्यों को आजीविका का वैकल्पिक स्रोत प्रदान करना है ताकि वे पिछड़े ग्रामीण क्षेत्रों में सार्वजनिक परिवहन सेवाएं संचालित कर सकें.
● इस उपयोजना के तहत सुरक्षित, सस्ती एवं सामुदायिक स्तर पर संचालित ग्रामीण परिवहन व्यवस्था को सुदृढ़ करना है.
● इसके तहत ग्रामीण क्षेत्रों में ई-रिक्शा, थ्री-व्हीलर और फोर-व्हीलर सेवाएं उपलब्ध कराना भी इसके उद्देश्यों में शामिल है ताकि ग्रामीण क्षेत्रों में शिक्षा, स्वास्थ्य एवं बाजारों तक लोगों की पहुंच को सुविधाजनक बनाया जा सके.
● यह उप-योजना 2017-18 से 2019-20 तक तीन वर्षों की अवधि के लिए एक पायलट आधार पर देश के 250 ब्लॉकों में लागू की जाएगी.
कतर ने आतंकवाद से मुकाबला करने पर कानून में संशोधन करने का आदेश दिया
कतर के अमीर, शेख तमीम बिन हमद अल थानी ने आतंकवाद से मुकाबला करने हेतु 20 जुलाई 2017 को कानून में संशोधन का आदेश दिया.
● यह आदेश व्यक्तियों और आतंकवादी संस्थाओं के लिए दो राष्ट्र सूचियों को स्थापित करता है और उन पर शामिल होने के लिए आवश्यकताओं को बताता है.
● इस आदेश में आतंकवाद, क्राइम, आतंकवादी गतिविधि, आतंकवाद को फंड देने आदि की परिभाषा शामिल है.
● इसमें आतंकवादी गतिविधियों से संबंधित प्रक्रियाओं की भी पहचान की गयी है.
● आदेश में यह भी कहा गया है कि आतंकवादी गतिविधियों के आरोपी व्यक्तियों और संस्थाओं को अदालत में उनके खिलाफ दर्ज आरोपों के खिलाफ चुनौती देने का अधिकार है.
● आतंकवाद विरोधी कानून में संशोधन सरकार के समाचार पत्र में प्रकाशित होने के तुरंत बाद प्रभावी माना जायेगा.
● यह आदेश संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिका और खाड़ी देशों के बीच किए गए समझौते के बाद अमेरिकी विदेश मंत्री रेक्स टिल्लर्सन के दोहा के दौरे का परिणाम है.
हरमनप्रीत कौर ने महिला विश्वकप में नॉटआउट 171 रन बनाये
अंतरराष्ट्रीय क्रिकेट काउंसिल (आईसीसी) महिला विश्व कप में भारतीय महिला बल्लेबाज हरमनप्रीत कौर ने महज 115 गेंदों में नाबाद 171 रन की पारी खेलकर इतिहास रचा.
● भारत और ऑस्ट्रेलिया के बीच हुए इस सेमीफाइनल मुकाबले में हरमनप्रीत कौर ने अपनी सर्वश्रेष्ठ पारी खेली
● हरमनप्रीत कौर ने इस मुकाबले में कई रिकॉर्ड तोड़े. बेहद दबाव भरी स्थिति में बल्लेबाजी करने आईं कौर ने ऑस्ट्रेलिया के हर गेंदबाज के खिलाफ आक्रामक बल्लेबाजी की और इतिहास दर्ज किया.
● हरमन की शतकीय पारी की बदौलत भारतीय टीम ने ऑस्ट्रेलिया के सामने 281 रन का स्कोर खड़ा किया.
● हरमनप्रीत द्वारा बनाये गये 171 रन किसी भी भारतीय महिला बल्लेबाज द्वारा बनाया गया सबसे बड़ा व्यक्तिगत स्कोर है.
● इससे पहले यह रिकॉर्ड मिताली राज के नाम था. मिताली ने न्यूजीलैंड के खिलाफ 109 रनों की पारी खेली थी.
