EC launches ERO and AERO certification program

●        The Indian Election Commission organized a three-day training and certification program for the State Level Master Trainers (SLMT) in New Delhi from April 19 to April 21, 2018.
●        Approximately 280 SLMTs across the country participated in the training, which would later be assigned to cad training to various officials of the State / Union Territory and conducting certification courses for the Voter Registration Officer (ERO) and Assistant Voter Registration Officer (AERO). 

 
Death punishment for child rape


●        The Union Cabinet approved the Ordinance on 21st April, 2018 for a change in the Pocso Act, under a major decision.
●        In this meeting, the amendment in the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses i.e. Pocso Act was given a green signal.
●        Under this amendment, the convicts of Rape can be punished with imprisonment for 12 years or less in the country.
 
 
Notice of impeachment motion against Chief Justice for the first time in India
 
●        For the first time in the history of the judicial system of India, there has been a demand for impeachment against the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.
●        If further notice is taken on this notice, impeachment motion may be brought against Chief Justice Deepak Mishra.
●        Over 60 MPs from seven political parties have given notice of impeachment against the Chief Justice of India.

200 years later, only cow will be the largest mammal: study

Dam to be built between Himachal and Haryana to revive Saraswati river
 
●        To revive the legendary river Saraswati river , the scheme for making a dam on the Haryana-Himachal border is being finalized.
●        Himachal Pradesh will also give its land for this.
●        Dam is proposed to be constructed in tribal Mantra village on the border of Sirmaur district of Himachal Pradesh.
●        In this case meeting between Chief Secretaries of the two states was held on Thursday in Shimla.

Cabinet clears National Gram Swaraj campaign for reconstituted centrally sponsored scheme


●        Under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has today approved the reorganized centrally sponsored scheme National Rural Self Mission (RGSA).
●        This scheme will be implemented during the period from 1.4.2018 to 31.3.2022 with a total cost of Rs. 7255.50 crores.
●        The center's stake in the scheme will be Rs 4500 crore and the share of the state will be Rs 2755.50 crore.

Government banks, pioneer in cancellation of RTI application


●        In Public Organizations, the government bank is at the forefront of canceling the Right to Information (RTI) application.
●        It was informed in the information released by the Commonwealth Human Rights Campaign that in the total RTI applications received by all government authorities, nine percent of the applications are received by 26 public banks, including the Reserve Bank.
 

TCS to become country's first 100 billion dollar company


●        Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is going to soon become the first company with $ 100 billion market capitalization .
●        It is now the most valuable company in the country whose market capitalization is 2.5 times more than its competitor Infosys.
