Darjeeling Green Tea & White Tea receive GI Tag

• Darjeeling Tea Association said green and white tea of the hills have been registered as geographical indication (GI) products in the country.

• These two varieties of Darjeeling tea have been registered under Geographical Indications of Goods (Registration and Protection) Act 1999, with effect from October 2019, it said.

• The Tea Board had filed an application in this regard on December 2017, the DTA said.

• This will “strengthen the protection of the intellectual property rights of the Darjeeling tea”, which is considered as “niche and luxury” products in the country and abroad.

• Of the total annual production of 8.5 million kilograms of Darjeeling tea, green tea comprises one million kilogram and white tea one lakh kilogram.

Joint Exercise between Qatar and India (Zair-Al-Bahr 2019)

• Indian Navy Guided Missile Stealth Frigate INS Trikand and Patrol Aircraft P8-I arrived at Doha for the inaugural edition of the Bilateral Maritime Exercise Za’ir-Al-Bahr (Roar of the Sea) being conducted from 17 to 21 Nov 19 between the Indian Navy and Qatari Emiri Naval Forces.

• Za’ir-Al-Bahr 2019 would strengthen cooperation and enhance interoperability between the two navies.

• The Exercise will include a three-day Harbour Phase and Two days Sea Phase.

• The activities during the harbour phase will include a seminar, professional interaction, official visits, sports fixtures along with social and cultural events.

India ranked 59 in IMD World Talent Ranking Report

• India has been ranked at 59 in the IMD World Talent Ranking out of 63 countries. Switzerland has topped the ranking.

• Denmark was placed second and Sweden was in the third place.

12th Urban Mobility India Conference and Expo 2019

• The 12th Urban Mobility India Conference and Expo 2019 was held from November 15 to 17 in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh.

• The conference was organised by Institute of Urban Transport (IUT) under the aegis of Union Ministry of Urban Development.

• The theme of the conference was “Accessible and liveable Cities”.

International Principal’s Education Conference (IPEC) Inaugurated in Nagpur

• The 3-day International Principal’s Education Conference (IPEC) was inaugurated in Nagpur, Maharashtra by the RSS Chief Dr. Mohan Bhagwat on November 19, 2019.

• The conference is based on the theme “Scripting the Legends of Human Excellence through Schools.”

Meghalaya-based insurgent group HNLC banned by govt

• The central government of India has banned the Meghalaya-based insurgent group Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) for its increased activities of violence and other and other anti-India programmes

• The notification released by the MHA said “The HNLC along with all its factions, wings and frontal organisations has been banned for their involvement in activities aimed at breaking away those parts of Meghalaya which are inhabited by Khasi and Jaintiatribals, from India.”

ISRO To Launch Cartosat-3 Satellite and 13 Commercial Nano Satellites

• The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is set to launch its earth imaging and mapping satellite named Cartosat-3 on November 25 from the SatishDhawan Space Centre (SDSC) SHAR at Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh.

• In addition to this, 13 commercial nano satellites from the US would also be launched.

• The launch would take place onboard Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV-C47).

• This will be the 21st flight of PSLV in ‘XL’ configuration (with 6 solid strap-on motors).

• The Cartosat-3 is a “third generation agile advanced satellite” with high resolution imaging capability.

• The satellite would be placed in an orbit of 509 km at an inclination of 97.5 degree.

Max Verstappen wins Brazilian Grand Prix 2019

• Max Verstappen (Red Bull – Belgian-Dutch) has won the Formula One Brazilian Grand Prix 2019.

• The Ferraris of Sebastian Vettel and Charles Leclerc clashed in the race due to which Verstappen was able to take the lead and ultimately win the race.

• Pierre Gasly of France was on second position and was the first podium position for him while Lewis Hamilton remained on third.
