Approval of Memorandum of Understanding between Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance
●        The Cabinet today gave its approval to the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for working together to strengthen the Accounting, Finance and Auditing Knowledge Base in Bahrain between the Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance (DIDF), Bahrain and the Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI). Given
●        ICAI will provide technical assistance to BIBF by reviewing the accounts and finance courses of BIBF related to accounting and finance.
●        ICAI will recommend implementing its CA curriculum which will help the students of BIBF sit in the examination of ICAI for the purpose of getting ICAI membership.


Special remission of prisoners approved On the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi
●        The Union Cabinet today approved the proposal of granting special remission to the prisoners on the occasion of the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
●        On the occasion of the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the prisoners will be given special remission and they will be released in three stages.
●        In the first phase, prisoners will be released on October 02, 2018 (the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi).
●        In the second phase prisoners will be released on April 10, 2019 (Anniversary of the Champaran Satyagraha).
●        In the third phase prisoners will be released on October 02, 2019 (Jayanti of Mahatma Gandhi)
 
 
Approval of establishment of Medical College in Salempur, Deoria, Uttar Pradesh
●        The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has approved the proposal of the Uttar Pradesh Government to set up a new medical college in Deoria, at the cost of Rs 250 crore under Centrally Sponsored Scheme.
●        In Uttar Pradesh, the requirement of 24 medical colleges including eight medical colleges has been approved.
 
Special package approved for irrigation projects in the drought-prone areas of Vidarbha, Marathwada and the rest of Maharashtra
●        The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has approved the implementation of these projects to complete 83 small irrigation projects and 8 major / medium irrigation projects in the drought-prone areas of Marathwada, Vidarbha and the rest of Maharashtra.
●        With the completion of these projects, the water source will be ensured to the farmers in the command area of these projects. This will increase their crops and as a result the income of the farmers will increase.
 

Approval of policy framework for making the contract to share production in prior NELP and NELP blocks
●        Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has approved the policy framework for making the production sharing contract operating system compatible for the increased domestic production of hydrocarbon resources.
●        Based on the recommendations of Hydrocarbon Vision 2030 for the North-Eastern region, the Government has increased the time-bound exposure and evaluation period in operational blocks considering the geographical, environmental and logistic challenges of the North East region.
 

India-based Neutrino Observatory
●        Environment clearance has been taken for the project.
●        Application for Wildlife Clearance and Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board has been submitted.
●        An 85 ton prototype Mini-ICAL detector has been built and is working in the IICHEP campus in Madurai.
 
 
Observatory for the study of gravitational waves
●        Government of India has given the theoretical approval of the construction and operation of the Laser Interferometer Gravitational Wave Laboratory - India (LIGO) in association with the LGO Lab of USA.
●        It is the third observatory in the United States, like 2 lego observatories. This was signed by DAE-DST of India and National Science Foundation of America on 30.03.2016.
●        LIGO India Observatory is scheduled to be ready in the year 2024.


Constitution of Heritage Cabinet by the Government of Odisha
 
●        Heritage Cabinet was constituted by the Odisha Government to preserve the historical remains of the state and monuments and to promote rich culture and language.
●        According to the notification issued by the Department of Parliamentary Affairs, this cabinet will have eight members and it will be headed by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
●        Its purpose will be to provide protection to ancient monuments, temples and places of archaeological importance in the state and conserve the culture, language and literature of the state.

National database for those who hold gun licenses
 
●        The Home Ministry has issued a notification and said that the names of those who hold all new and old gun licenses from April 2019 will be included in the national database.
●        Unique Identification Number (UIN) will also be issued to license holders.
●        The Ministry of Home Affairs, the aim of this step is to keep an eye on the authorized private gun holders.

India and Cuba approvals MoU on cooperation in the field of traditional medicine and homeopathy
●        The Union Cabinet has given its retrospective approval for the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between India and Cuba on cooperation in the field of traditional medicine and homeopathy.
●        This Memorandum of Understanding was signed on 22.06.2018.
●        This MOU will improve bilateral cooperation in the field of traditional medicine and homeopathy in both countries. In view of the shared cultural heritage of both countries, this MoU is very important.
 
 Approval of MOU between India and Indonesia in the field of pharmaceutical products, biological products and cosmetic regulation
●        The Union Cabinet has signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the cooperation between the Central Drug Standards Control Organization (CDSCO) and the National Agency for Drug and Food Control (BPOM) of Indonesia in the field of pharmaceuticals, pharmaceuticals, biological products and cosmic regulation (MOU) ) Has granted its retrospective approval.
●        This MoU was signed in Jakarta on May 29, 2018.


MoU cleared between Indian Chartered Accounting Institute (ICAI) and National Board of Accountants and Auditors (NBAA), Tanzania
●        The Union Cabinet has approved the signing of MoU between Indian Chartered Accounting Institute (ICAI) and National Board of Accountants and Auditors (NBAA), Tanzania.
●        Under this MoU, mutual cooperation framework will be established in the area of management, professional ethics, technical research, continuous professional development, professional accounting training, accounting quality monitoring, accounting knowledge upgradation, professional and intellectual development.
 

India-US delegation meeting on defense cooperation
●        As part of Indo-US bilateral defense cooperation, a meeting of the 7th Defense Technology and Trade Initiative was organized here today between India and the US delegations.
●        The meeting was co-chaired by Dr. Ajay Kumar, Co-Chairman and Defense Minister of Defense Ms. Allen M. Lord of Acquisition and Support.

China set up unmanned weather observation center near Arunachal-Tibet border
 
●        China has set up an Unmanned Automatic Weather Observation Center in Tibet near the Arunachal Pradesh border.
●        China has established this station in the case of regional conflicts for weather related help in the operation of the army, planes and missiles of the country.
●        This center has been established in Yumiya of Lahinch under the Shanan range of Tibet.
 

Forbes released a list of the 100 highest-paid artists
 

●        Forbes has released a list of the 100 highest earning celebrities of 2018.
●        In this list, two Bollywood actors Akshay Kumar and Salman Khan have been inducted.
●        In the Forbes 2018 list, Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar's list is 76th and Salman Khan is 82th in the list.
●        First place American boxer Floyd Mayweather in the Forbes list.
●        Floyd Mayweather's yearly earnings is $ 285 million-that is, 19.14 billion rupees.
●        The Forbes list states that the total earnings of these 100 people in the last 12 months have increased by 22% compared to the previous year.

Acceptance of Memorandum of Understanding on Regional Aviation Partnership in BRICS Countries
●        Under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Union Cabinet has approved the signing of MOU on Regional Aviation Partnership in BRICS countries.
●        BRIC countries include Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.
●        BRICS countries will benefit from the establishment of institutional framework for cooperation in the field of civil aviation.
