Parliament passes Aircraft (Amendment) Bill 2020, after Rajya Sabha approval
• The Parliament on September 15, 2020, passed Aircraft (Amendment) Bill, 2020 after it was approved by Rajya Sabha. The bill was passed in Lok Sabha on March 17, 2020.
• The bill aims to amend the Aircraft Act of 1934 and convert the 3 regulatory bodies under the Civil Aviation Ministry into the statutory bodies.
• The 3 regulatory bodies include the Aircraft Accidents Investigation Bureau, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, and the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security.
International
India becomes member of United Nation’s Commission on Status of Women (UNCSW)
• UNCSW is a body of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and is responsible for promoting gender equality and the empowerment of women.
• India will be a member of the UNCSW for four years — from 2021 to 2025. Three countries, India, China and Afghanistan had contested the elections in which India and Afghanistan have been elected to UNCSW while China has failed to do so.
• TS Tirumurti, permanent representative of India to the United Nations shared the information.
Liberia declares rape a national emergency after spike in cases
• Liberian President George Weah has declared rape a national emergency and ordered new measures to tackle the problem after a recent spike of cases in the West African state.
• The move comes after thousands of Liberians protested against rising incidents of rape in the capital Monrovia last month in a bid to draw attention to the country’s alarming rate of sexual assault.
• The government will also establish a so-called “national security task force” on sexual and gender-based violence.

Asian Development Bank projects Indian economy to shrink by 9% in FY21, grow by 8% in FY22
• The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has estimated that the GDP of India is expected to contract by 9 percent in the fiscal 2020-21 (FY21). This estimate is worse that ADB’s previous estimate of -4%.
• However, for the FY22 (2021-22), ADB expects India’s GDP at 8 percent.
• ADB also expects the gross domestic product (GDP) growth for developing Asia at – 0.7 percent in 2020, the first negative economic growth since 1962.
Infosys to acquire Europe-based Guide Vision for €30 million
• IT major Infosys has signed a definitive agreement to acquire European consultancy firm Guide Vision for up to Euro 30 million (approximately $35 million).
• Guide Vision is one of the largest Service Now Elite Partners in Europe, specialised in offering strategic advisory, consulting, implementations, training and support.
• With this acquisition, Infosys will enhance its Cobalt portfolio of cloud services and further strengthen its Service Now capabilities for its clients in Europe.
• Infosys launched Cobalt in August 2020, which is a set of services, solutions, and platforms to help its clients, mostly large enterprises, build new cloud-first capabilities.
S&P Projects Indian Economy to Contract 9 Percent
• S&P Global Ratings slashed its growth forecast for India to (-) 9 per cent in the current fiscal, from (-) 5 per cent estimated earlier, saying that rising C-19 cases would keep private spending and investment lower for longer.
• S&P Global Ratings now expects the country’s economy to contract by 9 percent in the current fiscal year, which ends March 31, 2021.

Vi launches integrated 4G network GIGAnet
• VI (erstwhile Vodafone Idea) has launched GIGAnet network that is an integrated 4G network.
• With the launch of GIGAnet, VI aims to overcome the loss of customers and attract new customers from rivals Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio.
• GIGAnet offers faster downloads & uploads, low latency, and real-time connectivity. It is built on many principles of 5G architecture that help in delivering a superior network experience.

Harivansh re-elected as Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha
• NDA candidate Harivansh has been re-elected as the Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha.
• The upper house cleared his name with a voice vote. BJP President JP Nadda had moved the proposal to elect Harivansh as the deputy chairman and his motion was adopted. Later, Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu announced his name.
Amazon signs Amitabh Bachchan for its Alexa voice assistant
• Amazon.com Inc has signed up Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan for its Alexa voice assistant.
• Alexa users will be able to access Amitabh Bachchan’s voice on Alexa by purchasing the Amitabh Bachchan voice experience.
• He is the first Indian celebrity to lend his voice to Alexa.

International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer: 16 September
• The International Day for the preservation for Ozone layer (World Ozone Day) is observed annually on September 16 to spread awareness of the depletion of the Ozone Layer and search for solutions to preserve it.
• The day was designated by the United Nations General Assembly on December 19, 2000, to commemorate the signing of the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer in 1987.
• Theme for 2020 World Ozone Day: ‘Ozone for life: 35 years of ozone layer protection’.
World Lymphoma Awareness Day
• The World Lymphoma Awareness Day (WLAD) is observed on September 15 every year. The day is dedicated to raising awareness of lymphoma, an increasingly common form of cancer.
• WLAD is a global initiative, initiated in 2004 by the Lymphoma Coalition (LC), a non-profit network organisation of 83 lymphoma patient groups from 52 countries around the world.

• Interior designer Gauri Khan has authored her first book titled “My Life In Design”, which will be published by Penguin Random House India in 2021.

वायुयान संशोधन विधेयक 2020 को संसद की मंजूरी
• 15 सितंबर, 2020 को संसद ने राज्यसभा द्वारा अनुमोदित किए जाने के बाद विमान (संशोधन) विधेयक, 2020 पारित किया। बिल 17 मार्च, 2020 को लोकसभा में पारित किया गया था।
• विधेयक का उद्देश्य 1934 के विमान अधिनियम में संशोधन करना और नागरिक उड्डयन मंत्रालय के तहत 3 नियामक निकायों को वैधानिक निकायों में बदलना है।
• 3 नियामक निकायों में विमान दुर्घटना जांच ब्यूरो, नागरिक उड्डयन महानिदेशालय और नागरिक उड्डयन सुरक्षा ब्यूरो शामिल हैं।
अंतरराष्ट्रीय
भारत महिलाओं की स्थिति पर संयुक्त राष्ट्र आयोग (UNCSW) का सदस्य बना
• UNCSW संयुक्त राष्ट्र आर्थिक और सामाजिक परिषद (ECOSOC) का एक निकाय है और यह लैंगिक समानता को बढ़ावा देने और महिलाओं के सशक्तिकरण के लिए जिम्मेदार है।
• भारत चार साल के लिए UNCSW का सदस्य होगा - 2021 से 2025 तक। तीन देशों, भारत, चीन और अफगानिस्तान ने चुनाव लड़ा था, जिसमें भारत और अफगानिस्तान UNCSW के लिए चुने गए हैं, जबकि चीन ऐसा करने में विफल रहा है।
• संयुक्त राष्ट्र में भारत के स्थायी प्रतिनिधि टीएस तिरुमूर्ति ने जानकारी साझा की।
बलात्कार अब एक राष्ट्रीय आपातकाल, लाइबेरिया के राष्ट्रपति ने की घोषणा
• लाइबेरियाई राष्ट्रपति जॉर्ज विया (George Weah) ने बलात्कार को देश में राष्ट्रीय आपातकाल (national emergency) घोषित कर दिया है। वहीं पश्चिम अफ्रीकी राज्य में बलात्कार के मामलों की समस्या से निपटने के लिए नए उपायों का आदेश भी दिया है। बलात्कार की बढ़ती हजारों घटनाओं का विरोध होने के बाद लाइबेरिया (Liberia) ने यह कदम उठाया है।
• शुक्रवार को लाइबेरियाई राष्ट्रपति जॉर्ज विया के कार्यालय के एक बयान में कहा गया कि लाइबेरिया बलात्कार के लिए एक विशेष अभियोजक स्थापित करेगा। साथ ही ऐसी घटनाओं को रोकने के लिए एक राष्ट्रीय सेक्स अपराध का एक रिकार्ड रजिस्टर बनाया जाएगा जिसमें ऐसे मा मलों को दर्ज किया जाएगा। इसके अलावा सरकार यौन और लिंग आधारित हिंसा के लिए एक “राष्ट्रीय सुरक्षा टास्क फोर्स” भी स्थापित करेगी।
बैंकिंग और अर्थव्यवस्था
FY21 में भारतीय अर्थव्यवस्था में आएगी 9% की गिरावट, अगले साल दिखेगी तेजी: ADB
• एशियाई विकास बैंक (ADB) ने चालू वित्त वर्ष 2020-21 में भारतीय अर्थव्यवस्था में 9 फीसदी की गिरावट का अनुमान लगाया है। एडीबी की ओर से मंगलवार को जारी एशियाई विकास आउटलुक (एडीओ)-2020 अपडेट में कहा गया है कि भारत में वायरस की वजह से आर्थिक गतिविधियां बुरी तरह प्रभावित हुई हैं। इसका असर उपभोक्ता धारणा पर भी पड़ा है, जिससे चालू वित्त वर्ष में सकल घरेलू उत्पाद (जीडीपी) में 9 फीसदी की गिरावट आएगी।
• हालांकि, एडीबी का अनुमान है कि अगले वित्त वर्ष 2021-22 में भारतीय अर्थव्यवस्था में बड़ा उछाल आएगा। चालू वित्त वर्ष की अप्रैल-जून तिमाही में जीडीपी में 23.9 फीसदी की गिरावट रही है।
इन्फोसिस ने 30 यूरो मिलियन के लिए यूरोपीय कंसल्टेंसी फर्म गाइड विजन प्राप्त करने के लिए एक निश्चित समझौते पर हस्ताक्षर किया
• आईटी प्रमुख इन्फोसिस ने 30 यूरो मिलियन (लगभग 35 मिलियन डॉलर) के लिए यूरोपीय कंसल्टेंसी फर्म गाइड विजन प्राप्त करने के लिए एक निश्चित समझौते पर हस्ताक्षर किए हैं।
• गाइड विजन यूरोप में अब तक की सबसे बड़ी सेवा में से एक है, जो रणनीतिक सलाहकार, परामर्श, कार्यान्वयन, प्रशिक्षण और सहायता प्रदान करने में विशिष्ट है।
• इस अधिग्रहण के साथ, इन्फोसिस क्लाउड सेवाओं के अपने कोबाल्ट पोर्टफोलियो को बढ़ाएगा और यूरोप में अपने ग्राहकों के लिए अपनी सेवा क्षमता को और मजबूत करेगा।

एसएंडपी का अनुमान, चालू वित्त वर्ष में भारत की अर्थव्यवस्था में आएगी 9 प्रतिशत की गिरावट
• एसएंडपी ग्लोबल रेटिंग्स (S&P global ratings) ने चालू वित्त वर्ष में भारतीय अर्थव्यवस्था (Indian Economy) में 9 प्रतिशत की गिरावट का अनुमान लगाया है।एसएंडपी ने सोमवार को 2020-21 के लिए भारत के वृद्धि दर के अनुमान को घटाकर 0 से 9 प्रतिशत नीचे कर दिया। पहले उसने भारतीय अर्थव्यवस्था में 5 प्रतिशत की गिरावट का अनुमान लगाया था।
• रेटिंग एजेंसी का मानना है कि भारत में C-19 के बढ़ते मामलों की वजह से निजी खर्च और निवेश लंबे समय तक निचले स्तर पर रहेगा। एसएंडपी ग्लोबल रेटिंग्स एशिया-प्रशांत के अर्थशास्त्री विश्रुत राणा ने कहा, ‘C-19 के मामले लगातार बढ़ने की वजह से निजी आर्थिक गतिविधियां रुकी हुई हैं।’

• ओजोन परत के संरक्षण के लिए अंतर्राष्ट्रीय दिवस (विश्व ओजोन दिवस) 16 सितंबर को प्रतिवर्ष मनाया जाता है, ताकि ओजोन परत की कमी के बारे में जागरूकता फैलाई जा सके और इसे संरक्षित करने के लिए उपाय खोजे जा सकें।
