For obtaining pension, Aadhar is not mandatory: Central Government

●    The central government has clarified that it is not mandatory for central government employees to get Aadhaar card for getting pension.

●    In the 30th meeting of the Standing Committee of Voluntary Agencies, Minister of State for Personnel, Jitendra Singh shared the information.

Clean survey 2018 report: Indore is the cleanest city for second year

●    Results declared under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan under the survey conducted on May 16, 2018.

●    Indore was declared the cleanest city for the second time in this year's survey results, while in the category of capital, Mumbai got first place in the country in terms of sanitation.

●    A cleanliness survey was conducted in more than 4,000 cities across the country.

President gave National Geophysical Prizes

●    President Shri Ramnath Kovind presented the National Geophysical Prize in New Delhi today (May 16, 2018).

●    On this occasion the President said that India is one of the fastest growing major economies in the world. Our gross domestic product (GDP) and macro-development processes will increase in the coming decades.

●    This increase in the economy will result in the development of mining and mineral sector.

Approval of the constitution of Central University in Andhra Pradesh

●    The central cabinet approved the formation of the central university to be built in Janathaluru village in Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh.

●    This University will be known as Central University, Andhra Pradesh.

●    For the first phase of construction of world school, a provision of Rs. 450 crore has been made.

Cabinet approves setting up of new AIIMS in Jharkhand’s Deoghar

●    Under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Union Cabinet has approved the setting up of a new All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) at Deoghar in Jharkhand.

●    An amount of Rs.1103 crores has been approved for the project and it will be set up under the AIIMS Prime Minister's Health Protection Scheme (PMSAY).

●    In AIIMS Devgarh, there will be a 750-bed hospital and Trauma Center facilities.

Approval of opening of National Mental Health Rehabilitation Institute in Bhopal

●    The Union Cabinet has approved the opening of the National Mental Health Rehabilitation Institute (NIMHR) in Bhopal.

●    This institution will be set up under the Societies Registration Act, 1860 as a society under the Disabled Public Empowerment Department.

●    In the first three years, this project is estimated to cost 179.5 million rupees.

●    It includes non-recurring expenditure of 128.54 crores and recurring expenditure of Rs. 51 crores.

CIPAM-DIPP organized a conference on national intellectual property policy

●    Under the Industrial Policy and Promotion Department (DIPP) of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, IPR Promotion and Management Cell (CIPAM) is organizing a conference in New Delhi today to commemorate two years of national intellectual property law (IPR).

●    National intellectual property law was accepted by the Indian government in May 2016.

●    India has emerged as the third largest market in solar energy in 2017.

●    India is behind China and America in terms of solar energy.

●    Marcom Communications India said this in a report.

International Rail Coach Expo organized by Integral Coach Factory Chennai

●    For the first time, the International Rail Coach Expo (IRCE) is being organized in ICF, RPF, Parade Ground, Chennai from 17th to 19th May, 2018 to focus on the set of rail coaches and trains.

●    Expo will introduce Rail Coach and equipment manufacturers to offer their own technology and products.

●    Under this roof, it will be a unique platform to bring different suppliers to one place and make coordination for Make in India.

Oman India Joint Business Council members met the Prime Minister

●    A group of around 30 young businessmen from Oman called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi today.

●    These businessmen are members of Oman India Joint Business Council.

●    These members shared their views on long history as well as mutual maritime relations between the two countries.

India and Morocco granted Memorandum of Understanding in the field of law

●    Between India and Morocco, has given its ex-approval for signing the Memorandum of Understanding for the purpose of exchanging their experiences and expertise in the field of law and lawmaking.

●    From the Memorandum, the lawyers, legal officers and law students will get an opportunity to discuss the issues related to law and justice in the seminars, seminars and workshops organized by officials of India and Morocco.

Cabinet approves MOU between India and Equatorial Guinea for cooperation in the field of medicinal plants

●    The Union Cabinet has approved the MoU between India and Equatorial Guinea with prior approval for cooperation in the field of medicinal plants.

●    Memorandum will give further boost to the field of medicinal plants between the two countries.

Approval of MoU on cooperation in the field of Health and Medicine between India and Swaziland

●    The Union Cabinet has approved its retrospective approval for the MoU between India and Swaziland for cooperation in the fields of health and medicine.

●    The Memorandum of Understanding was signed on April 9, 2018.

Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of conventional drug systems between

India and Colombia

●    The Union Cabinet has given its approval for the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between India and Colombia to establish cooperation on traditional medicine systems of India.

●    This will propagate and spread the traditional medicines of India in Colombia.

Approval of agreement for information exchange and assistance in collection of taxes related to taxes between India and Brunei Darussalam

●    Under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Union Cabinet has approved the signing of the agreement and confirmation of the agreement for the exchange of information and assistance in the collection of taxes between India and Brunei Darussalam.

●    This agreement enables the competent authorities of India and Brunei Darussalam to provide assistance through the exchange of information and the implementation of domestic laws of both countries in relation to taxes and taxes.

Indian origin scientist E.C. George Sudarshan passes away

●    Senior physicist E.C. of Indian origin George Sudarshan passed away on May 13, 2018.

●    He was 86 years old.

●    He was nominated nine times for the Nobel Prize for Physics.
