Goa will be developed as a cargo hub
 
●        Union Minister for Civil Aviation, Shri Suresh Prabhu said that the Central Government is trying to develop Goa as a tourist destination and a cargo hub through the state government and private partners.
●        He is addressing the media at Dabolim airport after monitoring the reconstruction and repair works.
●        On this occasion, Shri Shripad Naik, Minister of State (Independent Charge) of Union Ministry of State for Health, Shri Vijay Sardesai, Minister of State for Agriculture, Mr. Rohan Khaunte and Minister of Transportation, Mr. Sudin Runlikar were also present.

Ministry of Environment Notified Plastic Waste Management (Amendment) Rules


●        Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has notified Plastic Waste Management (Amendment) Rule 2018.
●        It has been arranged in the amendment rules that the closure of multilateral plastics (MLT) is now also applicable to MLP, which is non-recyclable or non-energy re-available or with no alternate use.
●        In the revised rules, a central registration system has also been set up for the registration of the producer / importer / brand owner.
 

E-way bill system implemented in five states
 
●        The e-way bill system created for the transportation of mutual goods among the States was started in five states from April 15, 2018.
●        These states include Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Kerala, Telangana and Uttar Pradesh.
●        According to the finance ministry, this will facilitate trade and industry in these states and help in the same e-way bill system across the country. 

Indian courts sent death penalty to 109 people in 2017: Amnesty report
 
●        International human rights organization Amnesty International has said that Indian courts were sentenced to death in more than 109 cases in 2017 in 2017.
●        Amnesty released a report titled 'The Death Saints and Executions 2017' on April 12, 2018.
●        In 2016, 136 people were sentenced to death, compared to 277 deaths in 2017.

US $ 48 million loan agreement with World Bank for Meghalaya Community-Lead Landscape Management Project

United Nations rejects Russian condemnation motion against US

UN initiates Road Safety Trust funding 
 
●        United Nations (UN) Deputy Secretary Amina Mohammed launched the Road Safety Trust Fund on 12th April, 2018, in view of the increasing road accidents in India and Canada, especially in India and Canada.
●        In the context of the global scenario, deaths in road accidents have become a serious problem.
●        Each one contributing to the fund can save one life from $ 1,500 and 10 serious injuries can be prevented and 51,000 dollars can be availed for investment in road safety.

●        Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh launched the web-based app 'E-FRRO (E-Foreigners Regional Registration Office) on April 13, 2018.
●        The objective of the e-FRRO scheme is to provide fast and efficient services to the foreigners coming to India so that they can get a pleasant experience of travel.

RBI tightens the rules of liberalized remittance scheme
 
●        Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has tightened the rules for giving information of liberalized remittance plans (LRS) to send money out of the country.
●        Under this scheme, a person can send abroad up to two and a half million dollars in a year.
●        The aim of strengthening the norms is to improve monitoring and to ensure the compliance of the borders of the liberalized remittance scheme.
●        These steps have been taken out of the country with the purpose of prohibiting the sale of illegal money outside the country.
