Lok Sabha passes bill to strengthen anti-terror agency NIA.
• The Lok Sabha on Monday passed the National Investigation Agency (Amendment) Bill 2019
• The bill had been passed with 278 members voting in its favour and six against it
• It also seeks to strengthen the powers of NIA in cases involving explosives and the responsibility in cases of human trafficking will be given to the investigation agency.

• Samajwadi Party leader Neeraj Shekhar on Monday resigned as member of the Rajya Sabha and his resignation was accepted by Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu
• Shekhar, the son of former prime minister Chandra Shekhar, met Naidu and told him he is resigning voluntarily and not under any compulsion
• He had been a member of the Rajya Sabha from Uttar Pradesh since November 26, 2014, and was due to retire on November 25, 2020
Kalraj Mishra appointed Himachal Pradesh Governor.
• Senior BJP leader Kalraj Mishra was Monday appointed as the Governor of Himachal Pradesh
• replacing Acharya Devvrat, who has been transferred and appointed as the Governor of Gujarat.
• the appointments of Mishra and Devvrat will come into effect from the dates they assume charge of their respective offices.
Former leader of opposition Chandrakant Kavlekar has been appointed as the deputy chief minister of Goa.
• Former leader of opposition Chandrakant Kavlekar has been appointed as the deputy chief minister of Goa. He sworn in as DCM on 15 July. He is among the four legislators inducted into the Goa cabinet.
The appointment came days after 10 Congress MLAs in Goa joined the BJP. Mr.Sawant reshuffled the Goa cabinet on 13 July. Three members of the ally, Deputy Chief Minister Vijai Sardesai, Water Resources Minister Vinod Palyekar, Rural Development Minister Jayesh Salgaonkar and Independent MLA and Revenue Minister Rohan Khaunte, were dropped to accommodate the new members to the cabinate. The monsoon session of the Goa state Assembly began on 15 July.
Chandrakant Kavlekar:
Kavlekar is also known as Chandrakant 'Babu' Kavlekar. He is an Indian Politician from the state of Goa. He is a four term member of the Goa Legislative Assembly. On 11 July 2019 he left Indian National Congress and joined Bharatiya Janata Party.
SPORTS:
England win World Cup for first time for hitting more boundaries.
• England won the World Cup for the first time due to hitting more boundaries after tied scores in World Cup history's first-ever Super Over forced a boundary count-back. The match went into Super Over wherein both the teams scored 15 each after hitting 241 runs apiece in their respective 50 overs. England scored 26 boundaries while New Zealand hit 17.
Sprinter Hima Das wins 3rd international gold.
• Sprinter Hima Das bagged her third international gold in two weeks after winning the women’s 200m event at the Kladno Memorial Athletics Meet in Czech Republic. Das clocked 23.43 seconds to win the event. Muhammed Anas also won gold in the men’s 400m event after clocking 45.21 seconds to finish first.

• Popular breast surgeon and Padma Shri awardee P.Raghu Ram bagged with Honorary Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS) of Thailand
The function held at the 44th annual congress of the Royal College in Pattaya
The theme of the function is “ASEAN collaboration in value-based surgery”.
The highest recognition got by the Institute in recognition of Raghu Ram’s bold vision coupled with an intense body of work
It paved towards significantly improving the delivery of breast healthcare in India. It helps in the recognition of his contribution in promoting the highest standards of surgical education in India through his association with the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and England.
It was conferred by professor Tanaphon Maipang, the President of the Royal College of Surgeons of Thailand.
Raghu Ram achieved the rare distinction conferred FRCS from six Royal Colleges include London, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Ireland, and Thailand & from the American College of Surgeons.
In 1995, he qualified to become a surgeon and he had 24 years of experience.
He also created awareness about the importance of early detection of breast cancer.

Kaushik Gangulys Bengali film Nagarkirtan bags 4 awards including Best Feature Film at SAARC film festival 2019.
• The 9th edition of the SAARC( South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation) festival 2019 in Colombo, Srilanka.
Bengali filmmaker Kaushik Ganguly’s film ‘Nagarkirtan’ won four awards (Best Director’, ‘Best Actor’ and ‘Best Original Score’) including ‘Best Feature Film’ at the festival.
The Best Actor award bagged to Riddhi Sen.
The Two other Indian films have won awards at the fest.
‘Na Bole Wo Haram’ bagged the ‘Best Short Film’ award directed by Nitish Patankar, while ‘Walking With the Wind’ received the Special Jury award directed by Praveen Morchhale.

लोकसभा ने एनआईए संशोधन विधेयक 2019 को मंजूरी दी, विरोध में पड़े मात्र 6 मत
• तीखी नोकझोंक के बाद लोकसभा ने सोमवार को ‘एनआईए संशोधन विधेयक 2019’ को मंजूरी दे दी जिसमें राष्ट्रीय जांच एजेंसी (एनआईए) को भारत से बाहर किसी गंभीर अपराध के संबंध में मामले का पंजीकरण करने और जांच का निर्देश देने का प्रावधान किया गया है। निचले सदन में विधेयक पर हुई चर्चा का जवाब देते हुए गृह राज्य मंत्री जी. किशन रेड्डी ने कहा कि आज जब देश और दुनिया को आतंकवाद के खतरे से निपटना है, ऐसे में एनआईए संशोधन विधेयक का उद्देश्य जांच एजेंसी को राष्ट्रहित में मजबूत बनाना है।

पूर्व पीएम चंद्रशेखर के बेटे नीरज शेखर ने राज्यसभा की सदस्यता से दिया इस्तीफ़ा, सपा का साथ भी छोड़ा
• समाजवादी पार्टी के राज्यसभा सांसद और पूर्व प्रधानमंत्री चंद्रशेखर के बेटे नीरज शेखर (Neeraj Shekhar) ने राज्यसभा की सदस्यता से इस्तीफ़ा दे दिया है. उन्होंने समाजवादी पार्टी से भी इस्तीफा दे दिया है. सूत्रों ने यह जानकारी दी है. बताया जा रहा है कि नीरज शेखर (Neeraj Shekhar) जल्द ही बीजेपी में शामिल होंगे. नीरज शेखर का राज्यसभा कार्यकाल नवंबर 2020 तक था. कहा जा रहा है नीरज शेखर को बीजेपी 2020 में यूपी से राज्यसभा में भेज सकती है. बताया जा रहा है कि पूर्व प्रधानमंत्री चंद्रशेखर पर लिखी राज्य सभा के उपसभापति हरिवंश की पुस्तक “चंद्रशेखर- द लास्ट आइकन ऑफ आइडियोलॉजिकल पॉलिटिक्स” का प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी विमोचन करेंगे. इससे पहले उनके बेटे नीरज शेखर बीजेपी में शामिल हो जाएंगे. आपको बता दें कि इस बार लोकसभा चुनाव में नीरज शेखर ने सपा से अपनी परम्परागत सीट बालिया से टिकट की मांग की थी. हालांकि समाजवादी पार्टी ने उन्हें टिकट नहीं दिया था.
कलराज मिश्र बने हिमाचल प्रदेश के नए राज्यपाल, आचार्य देवव्रत को भेजा गया गुजरात
• बीजेपी के वरिष्ठ नेता कलराज मिश्र को हिमाचल प्रदेश का नया राज्यपाल नियुक्त किया गया है। पूर्व पीएम अटल बिहारी वाजपेयी और पीएम नरेंद्र मोदी के पहले कार्यकाल में मंत्री रहे कलराज को आचार्य देवव्रत की जगह हिमाचल का राज्यपाल बनाया गया है। देवव्रत को गुजरात का राज्यपाल बनाया गया है। यूपी के दिग्गज नेता कलराज को राज्यपाल बनाने की चर्चा काफी समय से चल रही थी।
गोवा को मिले चार नए मंत्री, चंद्रकांत कावेलकर बने उप-मुख्यमंत्री
• पूर्व विपक्ष के नेता चंद्रकांत कावलेकर और डिप्टी स्पीकर माइकल लोबो मंत्रिपद की शपथ लेने वाले नेताओं में से थे. कावलेकर को राज्य का उपमुख्यमंत्री नियुक्त किया गया है.
• कांग्रेस के 10 विधायक बुधवार को बीजेपी में शामिल हो गए, जिससे बीजेपी के सदस्यों की संख्या 27 हो गई. मुख्यमंत्री ने शुक्रवार को सहयोगी गोवा फॉरवर्ड पार्टी के तीन और एक निर्दलीय उम्मीदवार को कैबिनेट से बाहर कर दिया.
• सावंत ने तीन महीने पहले मुख्यमंत्री पद संभाला था, तबसे उनका यह दूसरा मंत्रिमंडल फेरबदल है. अपने पहले कैबिनेट फेरबदल में उन्होंने तत्कालीन उपमुख्यमंत्री सुदीन धवलीकर को हटाकर एमजीपी विधायक दीपक पुष्कर को मंत्रिमंडल में शामिल किया था.

• मेजबान इंग्लैंड ने 14 जुलाई, रविवार को लार्ड्स में खेले गए फाइनल मुकाबले में न्यूजीलैंड को रोमांचक सुपरओवर में हराते हुए पहली बार वर्ल्ड कप का खिताब अपने नाम कर लिया।

हिमा दास ने 15 दिन के भीतर जीता तीसरा गोल्ड, अनस को मिला दूसरा गोल्ड
• भारत की स्टार महिला स्प्रिंटर हिमा दास (Hima Das) ने दो सप्ताह के भीतर तीसरा गोल्ड मेडल जीत लिया है.हिमा ने यहां क्लांदो मेमोरियल एथलेटिक्स मीट (Kladno Memorial Athletics) में महिलाओं की 200 मीटर रेस का स्वर्ण पदक अपने नाम किया. भारतीय धावक ने शनिवार को हुई इस रेस को 23.43 सेकंड में पूरा किया और पहले पायदान पर रहीं. वर्ल्ड जूनियर चैंपियन हिमा दास का सर्वश्रेष्ठ व्यक्तिगत समय 23.10 सेकंड है, जो उन्होंने पिछले साल बनाया था.

• मेलबर्न फिल्म फेस्टीवल में ला टर्ब यूनिवर्सिटी शाहरुख खान को डॉक्टरेट की उपाधि से सम्मानित करेगी। ये उपाधि उन्हें गरीब बच्चों की मदद, वुमन एम्पावरमेंट और मनोरंजन की दुनिया में दिए अपने योगदान के लिए दी जा रही है। शाहरुख मीर फाउंडेशन के फाउंडर है। इसका नाम उन्होंने अपने पिता के नाम पर रखा है। इसी फाउंडेशन के जरिए एक्टर लोगों मदद करते हैं।

i.रघु राम की काम ने भारत में स्तन स्वास्थ्य सेवा के वितरण में काफी सुधार किया है और एडिनबर्ग और इंग्लैंड के रॉयल कॉलेज ऑफ सर्जन्स के साथ भारत में सर्जिकल शिक्षा के उच्चतम मानकों को बढ़ावा देने में उनके योगदान के कारण उन्हें यह सर्वोच्च सम्मान दिया गया।
ii.उन्हें रॉयल कॉलेज ऑफ सर्जन्स ऑफ थाईलैंड के अध्यक्ष प्रोफेसर तनाफोन मपांग द्वारा सम्मानित किया गया था।

दक्षिण एशियाई क्षेत्रीय सहयोग संगठन (सार्क) आठ देशों का एक आर्थिक और भूराजनीतिक संगठन है।
