Human and Disaster Relief Seminars: Western Air Command Headquarters

●  On 14th May 2018, the headquarters of the Western Air Command located in Subroto Park, Delhi, organized a seminar on humanitarian and disaster relief.

●  This seminar was organized to focus on effective measures to deal with the situation of human and disaster relief in the northern region of India.

●  Besides the Indian Air Force in the seminar, the Secretary-level delegation from Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir is participating.

J.P. Nadda chaired the MOU signing ceremony with states to implement PMRSSM

● Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Shri J.P. Nadda presided over the Memorandum of Understanding signed by the four states-Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttarakhand and Union Territory of Chandigarh to implement the Ayushman Indo-Prime Minister National Health Security Mission in the northern state regional workshop located in Shimla today.

Approval of central assistance of Rs 1,161.17 crore for Assam, Himachal Pradesh, Sikkim and Rajasthan and Union Territory Lakshadweep

●  In the meeting of the High Level Committee, under the chairmanship of the Union Home Minister, Shri Rajnath Singh, approved central assistance of Rs 1,161.17 crore for Assam Himachal Pradesh, Sikkim and Rajasthan and Union Territory of Lakshadweep.

Sexual harassment prevention committees should be constituted in all the courts of the country: Supreme Court

●  The Supreme Court has directed all courts in the country to constitute sexual harassment prevention committees within two months.

●  The Supreme Court has said that the High Court should ensure setting up of sexual harassment prevention committees in the courts and subordinate courts within the stipulated period.

Telecom Department approves merger of Telenor India and Bharti Airtel

●  On 14th May 2018, the Department of Telecommunications approved the merger of Telenor India and Bharti Airtel.

●  This is a big and important merger in the Indian telecom industry.

●  The Department of Telecom wanted that these companies should deposit approximately Rs. 1700 crores as security deposit.

●  The present government has made major changes in the Cabinet Ministers Department on May 4, 2018.

●   Among these ministers are prominent names like Smriti Irani, Piyush Goyal, Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore.

●   Smriti Irani has been released from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

●   Railway Minister Piyush Goyal has been given additional charge of the Finance Ministry.

●  Rajyavardhan Rathore has been given the responsibility of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

Women can complain of domestic violence even after divorce: Supreme Court

●  The Supreme Court recently said that even after breaking the marital relationship and divorce, a woman can register a complaint under the domestic violence law against the excesses being made by her ex-husband.

●  The Supreme Court refused to intervene in this order by an order of the Rajasthan High Court, commenting on this.

Rape And acid attack victims will get compensation: Supreme Court

●  The Supreme Court has approved the plan to compensate rap and acid attack victims.

●  The National Legal Services Authority has fixed the amount of compensation to provide financial assistance to women suffering from heinous incidents like sexual harassment and acid attack.

●  After consultation with the Central Government, the Authority has prepared a plan to provide minimum compensation of 5 to 7 lakh rupees.

●  China has lifted its first indigenous aircraft carrier 'Type 001A' from Dalian Port in the sea for testing on May 13, 2018.
