NATIONAL:
Apollo Hospitals launched an advanced centre for movement disorders.
• On World Parkinson’s Day,11th April, Apollo Hospitals launched an advanced centre for movement disorders in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
• It will offer medical and surgical treatment for patients affected by various movement disorders including Parkinson’s Disease.
• The centre would offer Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) surgeries and other services to treat a wide spectrum of diseases such as Parkinson’s Disease, cerebral palsy, dystonia, essential tremor, and intractable spasticity dyskinesia.
• Tremors, mainly on one side of the body, is the first manifestation of Parkinson’s disease.
• The initial management requires multidisciplinary care including physiotherapy, neurological support, psychiatric counselling, and nutrition. Surgery could be considered when the symptoms cannot be adequately controlled by medical management.
• The centre would offer DBS in which electrodes are implanted in the brain.
Essel World launched an interactive bird park in Gorai.
• Essel World launched an interactive bird park in Gorai, Mumbai, Maharashtra. The first-of-its-kind rainforest-themed park spread across 1.4 acres is home to over 500 exotic birds from more than 60 species.
• The main motive is to set up a bird park that meets international standards and let the city dwellers peep into the birds’ world. The park is carefully designed to ensure appropriate living conditions for the birds.
• It is meant not only for entertainment but also to spread awareness of different types of birds.
• The park is equipped with small ponds for aquatic birds, dense cover of trees for birds to incubate their eggs and a water stream that offers drinking water to birds. It also houses a special bird’s kitchen and healthcare centre.
IMF cut India growth forecast for 2019-20 to 7.3 per cent.
• According to the latest edition of World Economic Outlook (WEO), released by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) during 2019 Spring Meeting, India is expected to grow at 7.3 per cent in fiscal year 2019-20, as against China's 6.6 per cent.
• This is 20 basis points lower than January outlook and 10 basis points lower than October’s forecast.
• Though the growth is estimated to go up at 7.5% during 2020-21. India’s Current account deficit is seen at around 2.5% of GDP.
• Global growth fell to 3.6% in 2018 and is projected to decline further to 3.3% in 2019. China is forecast to grow 6.3% in 2019 and 6.1% in 2020.

RBL Bank tied up with CreditVidya for improving customer experience.
• Through this partnership, the private sector lender - RBL Bank will be able to gain significant insights into its customer base.
• RBL Bank will leverage CreditVidya's big data underwriting platform across its credit card and mobile banking apps.
• The bank had first partnered with CreditVidya in 2018 for instant and automated verification of employment details of salaried card applicants.

Jamia Millia Islamia gets its First Woman Vice-Chancellor.
• The Ministry of Human Resources and Development issued a statement about appointing Professor Najma Akhtar as vice–chancellor of Jamia Millia Islam about Professor Najma Akhtar as vice–chancellor of Jamia Millia Islamia University (JMI) by the President of India.
• She is appointed for a period of five years. Professor Najma Akhtar will be the first woman to hold the post.
• Professor Najma Akhtar is a gold medallist from Aligarh Muslim University. She has a PhD in Education from Kurukshetra University.
• Professor Najma Akhtar a Commonwealth Fellow for University.
Murali Kartik named as the new brand ambassador of Fantasy 11.

Jean Michel Lapin elected as Haiti's new prime minister.
• Haiti’s President Jovenel Moise announced that Jean Michel Lapin, who once served as a courier in the public administration, to be the new prime minister of the French-speaking Caribbean Community (CARICOM) country.
• He succeeds Prime Minister Jean-Henry Ceant. The former culture and communications minister, Lapin was named acting prime minister on March 21.
• Lapin is the third head of government under President Moise, since he came to office in February 2017.
• The formation of a new government in Haiti is an International Monetary Fund (IMF) pre-requisite for the disbursement of the first tranche of a US$229 million loan to Haiti.
• In 2018, Haiti, the poorest country in the Americas, had a record US$290 million deficit, while its national budget was estimated at US$1.8 billion.
AWARDS:
Two schemes of West Bengal won WSIS awards.
• Two schemes, Utkarsh Bangla and Sabooj Sathi, of the West Bengal government for skill development and distribution of bicycles to students have won the prestigious World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) awards of the United Nations.
• The announcement was made by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Utkarsh Bangla Scheme:
♦ The scheme is to give vocational training to school dropouts by providing training ranging from 400 to 1200 hours free of charge.
♦ Under this scheme, beneficiaries will be trained in driving, tailoring, repairing television and other electronic equipment's, beautician courses, etc.
Sabooj Sathi scheme:
♦ The objective of the scheme is to empower the students, especially the girls and reduce drop-outs in higher education.
♦ Under the scheme, 34.94 lakh bicycles are already procured and distributed to target group students of class 9 to 12.
Alice G. Vaidyan awarded the Freedom of the City of London.
• Alice G. Vaidyan, Chairman and Managing Director of the General Insurance Corporation (GIC) of India, India’s reinsurance major awarded the Freedom of the City of London in recognition of her work to promote insurance ties between India and the UK. Alice G.
• Vaidyan holds post graduate degree in English literature trained at Harvard Business School, Boston, USA.
• She is a Fellow of the Insurance Institute of India. Alice G. Vaidyan was the first lady officer to assume the post of Chairman-cum-Managing Director of General Insurance Corporation of India.
• She was also the first lady chairman cum managing director of General Insurance Corporation of India. Freedom of the City is an honour bestowed by a City of London Corporation upon a valued member of the community, or upon a visiting celebrity or dignitary.
Russia honours PM Narendra Modi with its highest civilian award.
• Prime Minister Narendra Modi honoured with Russia’s highest state decoration, the Order of St Andrew the Apostle.
• The award has been given to PM Modi for “exceptional services in promoting a special and privileged strategic partnership between the Russian Federation and the Republic of India and friendly relations between the Russian and Indian peoples.
• This is the seventh award conferred on PM Modi by a foreign country.
• The award was established at the end of the 17th century by Tsar Peter I in honour of Apostle Andrew the First-Called.
• The award has been given to only 18 people, including weapons designer Mikhail Kalashnikov; writers Alexander Solzhenitsyn, Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Alexy II; doctors Valery Shumakov and Boris Petrovsky; singers Lyudmila Zykina and Irina Arkhipova; choreographer Yuri Grigorovich; and former Soviet president Mikhail Gorbachev.
Deepa Malik honoured with New Zealand Prime Ministers Sir Edmund Hillary Fellowship for 2019.
• Rio Paralympics silver medallist Deepa Malik was named as the recipient of the New Zealand Prime Minister’s Sir Edmund Hillary Fellowship for 2019 in recognition of her “inspiring achievements“.
• She became the first Indian woman to win a medal at the Paralympic Games when she bagged a silver in shot put F 53 at the Rio Paralympics in 2016, scoring her personal best of 4.61m.
• She will work to promote sporting, cultural as well people-to-people relationship between India and New Zealand.
• The fellowship, awarded by Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, aims to strengthen the ties between India and New Zealand.
• Deepa Malik is the only Indian woman to have won medals in three consecutive Asian Para Games in 2010, 2014 and 2018.
• Her tally of laurels stands at 58 national and 23 international medals.

एडीबी और आरबीआई के बाद अब IMF ने घटाया भारत की जीडीपी ग्रोथ का अनुमान
• अंतरराष्ट्रीय मुद्रा कोष (आईएमएफ) ने भारत की जीडीपी में वृद्धि दर के अनुमान को घटा दिया है। उसने हालिया कम ग्रोथ रेट और कमजोर ग्लोबल आउटलुक का हवाला देते हुए यह कदम उठाया है। आईएमएफ का अनुमान है कि 2019-20 में भारतीय अर्थव्यवस्था की वृद्धि दर 7.3 फीसदी रहेगी, जो 2020-21 में बढ़कर 7.5 फीसदी पर पहुंच जाएगी। आईएमएफ का 2019-20 में यह संशोधित अनुमान उसके पिछले अनुमान से 0.2 प्रतिशत कम है। आईएमएफ ने मौजूदा कारोबारी साल के लिए भारत का ग्रोथ अनुमान 0.2 फीसदी घटाकर 7.3 फीसदी कर दिया है। आईएमएफ ने ये भी कहा है कि जीडीपी के आंकड़ों में पारदर्शिता जरूरी है।
• इसके अलावा आईएमएफ ने वैश्विक आर्थिक वृद्धि का अनुमान घटाकर 3.3 फीसदी किया है। हालांकि, आईएमएफ ने कहा कि निवेश में सुधार और उपभोग बढ़ने से भारत दुनिया की सबसे तेजी से बढ़ती प्रमुख अर्थव्यवस्था बना रहेगा।
बैंक और अर्थव्यवस्था:
आरबीएल बैंक ने ग्राहकों को बेहतर सेवाओं के लिए क्रेडिट विद्या के साथ किया करार
• आरबीएल बैंक ने ग्राहकों को बेहतर सेवाएं उपलब्ध कराने के लिए कर्ज ब्यौरे की जानकारी देने वाली कंपनी क्रेडिटविद्या के साथ करार किया है। आरबीएल बैंक ने विज्ञप्ति जारी कर कहा है कि इस साझेदारी के जरिए निजी क्षेत्र के बैंक को अपने ग्राहकों से जुड़ी उल्लेखनीय जानकारियां हासिल हो सकेंगी। बैंक ने कहा कि इससे उसे अपने 15 लाख ग्राहकों को उनकी जरूरतों के हिसाब से सेवाएं देने का मौका मिलेगा।उसने कहा है, ''आरबीएल बैंक अपने क्रेडिट कार्ड और मोबाइल बैंकिंग एप पर क्रेडिटविद्या के पास मौजूद विशाल डेटा भंडार का इस्तेमाल करेगा।''
• उसने कहा है कि ग्राहकों के बारे में अधिक से अधिक जानकारी मिलने से उनके लिए प्रासंगिक ऋण उत्पाद की पेशकश करने में मदद मिल सकती है। क्रेडिटविद्या क्रेडिट स्कोर तैयार करने के लिए वैकल्पिक डेटा, कृत्रिम मेधा और मशीन लर्निंग का इस्तेमाल करता है।

• पश्चिम बंगाल में बेरोजगार युवा-युवतियों के लिए कौशल विकास प्रशिक्षण परियोजना "उत्कर्ष बांग्ला" और बच्चों को स्कूल जाने के लिए वितरित होने वाली साइकिल की योजना "सबुज साथी" को संयुक्त राष्ट्र से पुरस्कृत किया गया है। गुरुवार अपराहन यह जानकारी मुख्यमंत्री ममता बनर्जी ने दी है। उन्होंने फेसबुक और ट्विटर पर इस बारे में लिखा है। मुख्यमंत्री ने कहा " मुझे आपके साथ साझा करते हुए बहुत खुशी हो रही है कि हमारे "उत्कर्ष बांग्ला" और "सबुज साथी" परियोजनाओं ने संयुक्त राष्ट्र के तत्वावधान में सूचना सोसाइटी (डब्ल्यूएसआईएस) पर प्रतिष्ठित विश्व शिखर सम्मान जीता है।" उन्होंने बताया कि 18 श्रेणियों में 1062 नामांकन में से, "उत्कर्ष बांग्ला" को सर्वोच्च पुरस्कार मिला और क्षमता निर्माण श्रेणी में एक विजेता बनकर उभरा। ऐसे ही "सबुज साथी" को आईसीटी ई-गवर्नेंस आवेदन के तहत एक चैंपियन परियोजना के रूप में पहले पांच में स्थान दिया गया है। राज्य वासियों और विशेषकर युवाओं को इस मौके पर शुभकामना देते हुए मुख्यमंत्री ने लिखा " मेरी सभी को हार्दिक शुभकामनाएं। ये परियोजनाएं हमारी युवा पीढ़ी के लिए हैं कि उत्कर्ष बंगला" के तहत हर साल कम से कम 600000 युवाओं को रोजगार के लिए कौशल विकास प्रशिक्षण दिया जाता है जबकि 9वीं से 12वीं तक के बच्चों को स्कूल जाने के लिए पर्यावरण अनुकूल साइकिल का वितरण करने के लिए साबूज साथी परियोजना चलाई जाती है। " ममता ने अपने बयान में दावा किया है कि अब तक एक करोड़ छात्रों के बीच साइकिल वितरित की जा चुकी है जो अपने आप में सराहनीय है। उल्लेखनीय है कि बच्चियों की शिक्षा और ड्रॉपआउट रेट को कम करने के लिए बंगाल सरकार द्वारा चलाई गई कन्याश्री योजना को पहले ही संयुक्त राष्ट्र से सर्वश्रेष्ठ पुरस्कार मिल चुका है।

• कई अंतरराष्ट्रीय स्पर्धाओं में भारत का परचम लहराने वाली पैरा एथलीट दीपा मलिक को एक बड़ा सम्मान मिला है। उन्हें न्यूजीलैंड सरकार द्वारा दी जाने वाली सर एडमंड हिलेरी प्रधानमंत्री फेलोशिप के लिए चुना गया है। न्यूजीलैंड हाई कमिशन ने इस बात की घोषणा करते हुए कहा, हमें यह घोषणा करते हुए अत्यंत खुशी हो रही है कि भारतीय पैरा एथलीट दीपा मलिक को सर एडमंड हिलेरी प्रधानमंत्री फेलोशिप 2019 से सम्मानित किया जा रहा है।'
• दीपा मलिक ने अपने करियर में 58 राष्ट्रीय और 23 अंतरराष्ट्रीय पदक अपने नाम करने वाली दीपा का नाम 4 बार लिम्का बुक ऑफ वर्ल्ड रिकॉर्ड में भी दर्ज हो चुका है। पैरा स्पोर्ट्स में उनकी उपल्बिधयों के लिए भारत सरकार उन्हें पद्मश्री और अर्जुन पुरस्कार से सम्मानित कर चुकी है। दीपा हाल ही में भारतीय जनता पार्टी (भाजपा) में शामिल हुई हैं। अपने इस निर्णय के पीछे दीपा ने भारत के प्रधानमंत्री श्री नरेंद्र मोदी जी के नेतृत्व वाली एनडीए पार्टी द्वारा पैरा एथलीटों को दी जाने वाली प्रोत्सहान की नीतियों का होना बताया है। दीपा का कहना है कि इस प्रकार की नीतियों से एथलीटों का मनोबल बढ़ा है और अंतरराष्ट्रीय स्तर पर उनके स्वयं के खेल प्रदर्शन में व्यापक सुधार हुआ है।

• विश्वनाथन आनंद ने मंगलवार को यहां संपन्न शमकीर शतरंज टूर्नामेंट के नौवें और अंतिम दौर में बुल्गारिया के वेस्लिन टोपालोव से ड्रा खेला। आनंद ने टूर्नामेंट का अंत संभावित नौ में से 4.5 अंक जुटाकर किया जिससे वह संयुक्त चौथे स्थान पर रहे।गत विश्व चैंपियन नार्वे के मैग्नस कार्लसन ने अंतिम दौर में रूस के एलेक्सांद्र ग्रिस्चुक को हराया। एक दौर शेष रहते ही कार्लसन ने खिताब पर कब्जा जमा लिया था।
