Prime Minister addressed the inaugural session of "End TB " Summit


●        Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi addressed the inaugural session of "End TB" summit in New Delhi today.
●        The Prime Minister expressed hope that the TB eradication summit in Delhi will prove to be a milestone for the end of TB.
●        He said that he is making every effort to eradicate this disease.
●        It is also associated with the improvement of the lives of the poor because most of the victims are poor too.
●        The Prime Minister said that India has targeted to completely eliminate TB by 2025 while global target is 2030.
 
 National Integration Tour of students of Shopian and Kulgam districts of Jammu and Kashmir


●        In order to promote the spirit of national unity in the country, as part of the Indian Army's contact program, a group of 28 boys from 13 to 30 years of Shopian and Jammu and Kashmir districts and two teachers from March 11 to March 15, 2018 Till the New Delhi visit.
●        This trip was flagged off from Behibag, Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir) on March 10, 2018.
●        During their visit, the students saw various cultural and historical places of Delhi.
 
 First Regional Conference on Mass Rapid Transport Systems for Urban Areas – Opportunities and Challenges starts in Kolkata


●        Mr. Mangu Singh, Managing Director, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) said that there is a need to expand metro transport in Tier II cities.
●        He said that it is not necessary that every city has a metro transport system.
●        Instead it should be based on the needs of every city itself.
●        In this regard, he said that the corporation has recommended alternative transport system for Uttarakhand's capital, Dehradun.

●        Prime Minister Narendra Modi today launched the Tuberculosis free India campaign.
●        The conference is being organized jointly by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, World Health Organization (WHO) South East Asia Regional Office (SEARO) and Stop TB Partnership.
 
 
The Union Home Minister will inaugurate the International Police Conference on Cyber Crime and Terrorism


●        The Union Home Minister, Shri Rajnath Singh will inaugurate the two-day Asia-Pacific Regional Conference of the International Association of Police Chiefs (IACP) here tomorrow.
●        The subject of this conference is, 'In 2020, the challenges of the police-cyber space is shaping our approach towards crime and terrorism, how we will perform and how to take advantage of it.'
●        Regional Conference is being organized in partnership with Intelligence Bureau of Asia Pacific World Regional Office (APWRO) of IACP.
 
NTPC now has a capacity of more than 52,000 MW


●        NTPC, India's largest power generating company, has commissioned the third unit (unit) of 800 MW Kudgi Super Thermal Power Station from March 12, 2018.
●        With this, the total capacity of Kudgi Super Thermal Power Station has increased to 2400 MW.
●        With the above mentioned unit being operational, the capacity of NTPC and NTPC group has now increased to 45,300 MW and 52,191 MW respectively.
 
 
 NHAI contracted for Dwarka Expressway in Haryana


●        Indian National Highway Authority (NHAI) has issued contract or contract note (LOA) for the package-4 of Dwarka Expressway from R.B.B to NH-SPR intersection in Haryana State on EPC mode under Bharatmala project.
●        With the development of this section of Dwarka expressway, smooth and safe movement of traffic between Delhi and Gurugram will be ensured and simultaneously it will help to reduce the crowd of existing Delhi-Gurugram Expressway.

Water Resources Minister inaugurates conference on command area development


●        Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Conservation Minister, Shri Nitin Gadkari has asked to fast utilize allocated funds for the Command Area Development (CAD) under the Accelerated Irrigation Benefit Program (AIBP).
●        Gadkari was inaugurating a conference on command area development in New Delhi today.
●        The Minister of Water Resources expressed concern over the funds allocated for CAD has not been used adequately.
 
 
Ministry of Tribal Affairs monitors the expenditure of STC funds of central ministries


●        During the last several years, the allocation and expenditure is increasing steadily under tribal sub-plan (TSP), now called Scheduled Tribe component (STC).
●        Over the last three years 2014-15 to 2016-17, a total of 35 different central ministries and departments utilized Rs 62947.82 crore.
●        During the year 2014-2015, Rs. 19920.72 crores, during 2015-2016, 21216.54 crores was spent and during the year 2016-2017 Rs. 21810.56 crores were spent.
 
Dialysis units at Block / Panchayat level


●        In connection with the introduction of the National Dialysis Program in the Government Private Participation System under the National Health Mission (NHM), for the establishment of Dialysis Unit at the district / sub-district level, in pursuance of the announcement in the Union Budget 2016-17, "Prime Minister National Dialysis Program (PMNDT) "was started in 2016.
●        Under the PMNDP for the Financial Year 2017-18, the details of the State Program Implementation Plan (SPIP) approval are given in the Annexure.
●        According to the norms of NHM, financial assistance is being shared by sharing the cost at the ratio of 60:40 between the Center and the state to other states, except for the ratio of 90:10 in the Northeast and the hill states.

●        Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) and Vietnam National University (VNU) will conduct joint research in research and development areas of mutual interest.
●        The high delegation of Vietnam National University (VNU), Hanoi was led by Dr. Nguyen Kim Son, Chairman of the VNU and visited the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) and met the Director General, CSIR, Dr. Girish Sahni.

India is the world's largest arms buyer: Report
 
●        A survey report released by the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute on March 12, 2018 said that between 2013 and 2017, there was a 10 percent increase in the purchase of large arms worldwide.
●        Due to lack of defense equipment in India, India has to rely on other countries for military equipment and weapons.
●        Due to this dependence, India is the country to import the world's largest arms and defense equipment.

Indian Air Force's first multilateral disaster relief practice 'Samvedna' starts
 
●        For the first time the Indian Air Force launched humanitarian aid and disaster relief exercises.
●        This practice, along with the countries of South Asia region, was started on March 12, 2018 on the coast of Kerala.
●        This exercise is called 'Sense' and it is the first military rescue disaster practice in the South Asia region.
●        It will be organized from 12 to 17 March.

Solar Plant at a cost of Rs. 650 crores was launched in Mirzapur
 
●        On 12 March 2018, the state's largest solar power plant was inaugurated in Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President of France Emmanuel Macron.
●        The purpose of this project is to generate 100 MW of power, but at present, this plant will produce 75 MW of electricity.
●        Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President of France Emmanuel Macron launched the plant by pressing the button.
●        The plant is built at Dadar Kala at a cost of Rs 650 crore.
