Proposal for construction of Breakwater port in Konkan
●        Under the '12 Champion Sector Initiative 'of the Ministry of Commerce, the idea of forming Navi-Medha wave-stop or dam port in Konkan region of Maharashtra is being considered.
●        This information was given by the Union Commerce and Industry and Civil Aviation Minister Shri Suresh Prabhu after a meeting with Mr. Rajan Teli, former member of Maharashtra Legislative Council from Konkan region.
●        The Minister informed them that a proposal in this regard has already been submitted to the Maharashtra Maritime Board.

INS Tarangini reached Sunderland to join the 'Tall Ship Races -2018'
●        INS Tarangini ship reached Sunderland, the seventh port in Britain during its Lucayan-18 sea voyage, where it will be included in the prestigious 'Tall Ship Races -2018'.

●        This vessel is part of the Kochi-based first training team under the Southern Naval Command of the Indian Navy.
●        INS Tarangini is the first ship of the Indian Navy, which has traveled around the world in the year 2003-04 and has joined the tall ship races held in the world in 2007, 2011 and 2015.
 

Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation launched 'Clean Survey Rural 2018'
●        Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation launched 'Clean Survey Rural 2018' in the Capital today.
●        All districts will be surveyed by an independent survey agency from August 1 to 31, 2018 and its results will be announced in the form of the ranking of all districts and states based on quantitative and qualitative sanitation scale.

RBI issues new norms for demand draft
 

●        Reserve Bank of India has made changes to the rules for making demand draft on July 12, 2018.

14,800 deaths in Delhi in 2016 due to air pollution: study

Central Government constitutes Task Force to reduce dependency on imports
 
●        The central government has constituted a task force to reduce reliance on imports.
●        It has been constituted under the chairmanship of Task Force Cabinet Secretary PK Sinha.
●        The Task Force will give their views on policy changes, besides potential items, to reduce reliance on imports.
●        The task force will suggest ways to reduce the import of such products, which are either possible in the country or whose possibilities of production can be searched.

●        Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar announced ten declarations on July 12, 2018 for the protection and empowerment of women.
●        These include mainly the suspension of all facilities of the accused of rape or molestation, facilitating personal advocate to the rape victim etc.
●        The Chief Minister made this announcement while addressing the 'Another Improvement' program organized in Panchkula-based Indradhanush Auditorium on the issue of women's safety and women's empowerment.
