National
All India Tiger Census 2018 sets new Guinness World Record for largest camera-trap wildlife survey
• The fourth edition of the All India Tiger Estimation 2018 has created the Guinness World Record for being the world’s largest camera trap wildlife survey.
• The All India Tiger Estimation is conducted every four year since 2006, by the National Tiger Conservation Authority with technical support from the Wildlife Institute of India.
• These cameras surveyed an effective area of 121,337 square kilometres (46,848 square miles).A total of 34,858,623 photographs of wildlife were captured by the 26,838 camera traps installed. Of the total photographs 76,651 were tigers and 51,777 were leopards while the remaining were other native fauna.
White Paper launched for Recommendations on Immediate Technology and Policy Impetus to Make India ATMANIRBHAR
• At a virtual event, White Papers prepared by the Technology Information, Forecasting and Assessment Council (TIFAC) was launched by Dr. Harsh Vardhan (Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare) on 10th July 2020.
• India has set the target of achieving ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India)’ by adopting appropriate technology and policy reforms that will provide a thrust to the ‘Make in India’ initiative in the post-C-19 era.

Global economy to contract by 5.2 pc in 2020: D&B Report
• The global economy is likely to contract by 5.2 percent in 2020, according to Dun and Bradstreet’s (DNB) Country Risk and Global Outlook Report that covered 132 countries.
• The reason behind this decline is the C-19, which is still spreading, and the economic prospects of countries across the world are uncertain.
SEBI Revamps advisory committee on mutual funds; Usha Thorat new head
• The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has re-constituted its advisory committee on mutual funds that advises the capital markets regulator on matters related to regulation and development of mutual fund industry.
• The revamped advisory committee on mutual funds has 20-member and will be headed Usha Thorat, former deputy governor of Reserve Bank of India (RBI)

Lee HsienLoong became Prime Minister of Singapore
• Lee HsienLoong has become the Prime Minister of Singapore after the ruling People’s Action Party won the General Elections held in the country. PAP won 83 of the 93 seats contested in General Election.
• With this, Lee HsienLoong has won a fourth term as the Prime Minister of Singapore.

• World Population Day is observed globally on 11th July every year. Objective is to raise awareness among people about the impact of a growing population and issues including gender equality, the importance of family planning, poverty, maternal health, human rights, etc.
• This year theme of World Population Day 2020: Putting the brakes on C-19: Safeguarding the health and rights of women and girls.
Malala Day Observed
• July 12 was declared by the United Nations as World Malala Day on July 12, 2013 to honour the young activist, Malala Yousafzai.
• July 12 also marks the birth anniversary of Yousafzai, the Pakistani human rights activist, and the youngest Nobel Prize laureate.

A book on Dalai Lama's biography to release in 2020
• The biography of the current Dalai Lama titled “His Holiness the Fourteenth Dalai Lama: An Illustrated Biography”, is set to hit the stands in October 2020.
• The 352-page book has been written by Tenzin Geyche Tethong, one of the Dalai Lama’s closest aides and advisor of over 40 years. The book is published by Roli Books.
• The book features nearly 400 never seen before photographs and documents from the life and times of the Tibetan spiritual leader. It also has a personal message by the spiritual leader, along with a foreword by his younger brother, Tenzin Choegal.

ऑल इंडिया टाइगर सेंसस 2018 ने सबसे बड़े कैमरा-ट्रैप वन्यजीव सर्वेक्षण के लिए नया गिनीज वर्ल्ड रिकॉर्ड बनाया
• अखिल भारतीय बाघ अनुमान 2018 के चौथे संस्करण ने दुनिया का सबसे बड़ा कैमरा ट्रैप वाइल्डिंग सर्वेक्षण होने के लिए गिनीज वर्ल्ड रिकॉर्ड बनाया है।
• राष्ट्रीय बाघ संरक्षण प्राधिकरण द्वारा भारतीय वन्यजीव संस्थान के तकनीकी सहयोग से 2006 से हर चार साल में अखिल भारतीय बाघ अनुमान का संचालन किया जाता है।
• इन कैमरों ने 121,337 वर्ग किलोमीटर (46,848 वर्ग मील) के प्रभावी क्षेत्र का सर्वेक्षण किया। 26,838 कैमरा ट्रैप द्वारा वन्यजीवों की कुल 34,858,623 तस्वीरों को कैद किया गया। कुल तस्वीरों में से 76,651 बाघ थे और 51,777 तेंदुए थे जबकि शेष अन्य मूल जीव थे।
भारत ने उपयुक्त प्रौद्योगिकी और नीतिगत सुधारों को अपनाकर आत्मनिर्भर भारत (आत्मनिर्भर भारत) ’को प्राप्त करने का लक्ष्य निर्धारित किया
• 10 जुलाई 2020 को डॉ हर्षवर्धन (केंद्रीय स्वास्थ्य और परिवार कल्याण मंत्री) द्वारा प्रौद्योगिकी सूचना, पूर्वानुमान और मूल्यांकन परिषद (TIFAC) द्वारा तैयार किए गए व्हाइट पेपर्स को लॉन्च किया गया था।
• भारत ने उपयुक्त प्रौद्योगिकी और नीतिगत सुधारों को अपनाकर आत्मनिर्भर भारत (आत्मनिर्भर भारत) ’को प्राप्त करने का लक्ष्य निर्धारित किया है जो कि C-19 के बाद के युग में मेक इन इंडिया’ पहल को एक जोर देगा।

डी एंड बी कंट्री रिस्क और ग्लोबल आउटलुक रिपोर्ट ने 132 देशों को कवर किया है, वैश्विक अर्थव्यवस्था 2020 में 5.2% तक अनुबंधित होने की संभावना है। यह द्वितीय विश्व युद्ध के बाद की सबसे बड़ी गिरावट है और वैश्विक वित्तीय संकट के दौरान 2009 में दर्ज 1.7% की तुलना में कहीं अधिक मजबूत संकुचन है।
भारत की अर्थव्यवस्था चार दशक के सकारात्मक विकास के बाद इस वित्तीय वर्ष के अनुबंध की उम्मीद कर रही है। डी एंड बी ने डाउनग्रेड की भयावहता और 1994 के उच्चतम जोखिम स्तर को बताते हुए डीबी 4 डी से भारत की रेटिंग डीबी 5 सी को डाउनग्रेड कर दिया।
DB5 का अर्थ है उच्च जोखिम और यह दर्शाता है कि अपेक्षित रिटर्न के साथ काफी अनिश्चितता जुड़ी हुई है। व्यवसायों को सलाह दी जाती है कि वे अपने जोखिम को सीमित करें और / या केवल उच्च जोखिम वाले लेनदेन का चयन करें।
सेबी ने म्यूचुअल फंड पर सलाहकार समिति का पुनर्गठन किया
भारतीय प्रतिभूति एवं विनिमय बोर्ड (सेबी) ने म्यूचुअल फंड उद्योग के विनियमन और विकास से संबंधित मामलों पर उसे सलाह देने वाली समिति का पुनर्गठन किया है। सेबी ने बताया कि म्युचुअल फंडों से संबंधित 20 सदस्यीय सलाहकार समिति की प्रमुख उषा थोराट हैं, जो भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक (आरबीआई) की पूर्व डिप्टी गवर्नर हैं। इससे पहले 2013 में गठित इस समिति में 15 सदस्य थे और इसके अध्यक्ष एसबीआई के पूर्व चेयरमैन जानकी बल्लभ थे। समिति के सदस्यों में फ्रैंकलिन टेम्पलटन एसेट मैनेजमेंट (इंडिया) प्राइवेट लिमिटेड के अध्यक्ष संजय सप्रे, कोटक महिंद्रा एएमसी के एमडी नीलेश शाह और केनरा रोबेको एएमसी के सीईओ रजनीश नरूला, एसबीआई म्यूचुअल फंड के स्वतंत्र न्यासी सुनील गुलाटी और मोतीलाल ओसवाल म्यूचुअल म्युचुअल फंड के स्वतंत्र न्यासी निदेशक बृज गोपाल डागा जैसे विभिन्न फंड हाउस के अधिकारी शामिल हैं। इसके अलावा वैल्यू रिसर्च इंडिया के सीईओ धीरेंद्र कुमार, एलएंडटी इनवेस्टमेंट मैनेजमेंट के सीईओ कैलाश कुलकर्णी, एमएंडएम के कार्यकारी उपाध्यक्ष के एन वैद्यनाथन, बीएसई के एमडी और सीईओ आशीष चौहान, एसपीजेआईएमआर में प्राध्यपक अनंत नारायण और भारतीय म्यूचुअल फंड संघ के सीईओ एन एस वेंकटेश भी समिति में शामिल हैं।

एक बार फिर सिंगापुर के PM बने ली सिएन लूंग
सिंगापुर (Singapore) में हुए आम चुनाव में प्रचंड बहुतमत के साथ एक बार फिर से प्रधानमंत्री ली सिएन लूंग (Lee Hsien Loong) की पीपुल्स एक्शन पार्टी (PAP) ने सत्ता हासिल कर ली है। उनकी इस जीत पर प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी (PM Narendra Modi) ने उन्हें बधाई दी है। पीएम मोदी ने कहा कि आम चुनाव में सफलता के लिए प्रधानमंत्री ली सियन लूंग को बधाई। इसके साथ ही उन्होंने सिंगापुर के लोगों को शांतिपूर्ण और समृद्ध भविष्य की शुभकामनाएं दी।
शुक्रवार को हुए चुनाव में पीपुल्स एक्शन पार्टी ने 93 सीटों में से 8 सीटों पर जीत दर्ज करते हुए सत्ता को एक बार फिर से अपने नाम कर लिया। इस प्रचंड जीत के बाद ली सिएन लूंग एक बार फिर पीएम की कुर्सी हासिल की। वहीं उप प्रधानमंत्री और वित्त मंत्री हेंग स्वी कीट भी दोबारा निर्वाचित हुए हैं।

विश्व जनसंख्या दिवस: 11 जुलाई
प्रत्येक वर्ष 11 जुलाई को विश्व स्तर पर World Population Day यानि विश्व जनसंख्या दिवस मनाया जाता है। यह दिन बढ़ती जनसंख्या और लैंगिक समानता, परिवार नियोजन के महत्व, गरीबी, मातृ स्वास्थ्य, मानव अधिकार, आदि जैसे मुद्दों के बारे में लोगों को जागरूक करने के लिए मनाया जाता है।
इस वर्ष के विश्व जनसंख्या दिवस 2020 का विषय: Putting the brakes on C-19: Safeguarding the health and rights of women and girls.
विश्व जनसंख्या दिवस को मनाने की शुरुआत साल 1989 में संयुक्त राष्ट्र विकास कार्यक्रम (United National Development Programme) की गवर्निंग काउंसिल द्वारा की गई थी, उस समय विश्व की जनसंख्या लगभग 500 करोड़ थी।
मलाला दिवस: 12 जुलाई
World Malala Day: संयुक्त राष्ट्र ने युवा कार्यकर्ता मलाला यूसुफजई के योगदान को सम्मानित करने के लिए 12 जुलाई को विश्व मलाला दिवस के रूप में घोषित किया है। मलाला दिवस को दुनिया भर में महिलाओं और बच्चों के अधिकारों का सम्मान करने के लिए मलाला यूसुफजई के जन्मदिन के दिन मनाया जाता है।
लड़कियों की शिक्षा के लिए सार्वजनिक रूप से आवाज उठाने वाली मलाला पर तालिबान बंदूकधारियों द्वारा 9 अक्टूबर 2012 को गोली चलाई गई थी। हमले में गंभीर रूप से घायल होने के बावजूद, मलाला जल्द ही स्वस्थ होकर लोगों के बीच लौटी और पहले की तुलना में उनके विचारों में उग्रता दिखाई दी और लिंग अधिकारों के लिए उनकी वकालत की। उन्होंने एक गैर-लाभकारी संस्था मलाला फंड की स्थापना की है, जो युवा लड़कियों को स्कूल जाने में मदद करने और अंतर्राष्ट्रीय बेस्टसेलर "I Am Malala" नामक पुस्तक की सह-लेखिका भी है।

दलाई लामा के जीवन पर लिखी गई ‘His Holiness the Fourteenth Dalai Lama: An Illustrated Biography’ शीर्षक पुस्तक का विमोचन 2020 में किया जाएगा। इस पुस्तक को रोली बुक्स द्वारा प्रकाशित किया गया है। यह पुस्तक दलाई लामा के सबसे करीबी सहयोगियों में से एक माने जाने वाले और 40 से अधिक वर्षों सलाहकार रहे लेखक तेनजिन गेये टेथॉन्ग (Tenzin Geyche Tethong) द्वारा लिखी गई हैं। यह बायोग्राफी 14 वें दलाई लामा, तेनजिन ग्यात्सो की यादगार यात्रा का वृतांत है।
• इस पुस्तक में लगभग 400 अनदेखी तस्वीरें और अप्रकाशित दस्तावेज, अभिलेखीय सामग्री के साथ-साथ उनके करीबियों की यादें भी शामिल हैं ताकि उनके निर्वासन, उनके सहानुभूतिपूर्ण ढंग और समग्र जन्मभूमि, तिब्बत के साथ मौजूदा विवादित रिश्ते को चित्रित किया जा सके।
