3rd ASEAN summit begins in Singapore
• The 33rd ASEAN Summit began today in the city-state of Singapore.
• The main event is being held at Suntec Singapore Convention Centre, wherein the ten ASEAN members will be discussing key issues on economic, security and cultural cooperation.
• The summit is being chaired by Singapore’s Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.
• During this summit, the ASEAN leaders are expected to adopt the ASEAN Smart Cities Framework and a broad agreement is likely to be reached on RCEP during the summit.
• Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to attend the East Asia Summit and Associated meetings on 14th and 15th November.

24th Kolkata International Film Festival begins at Netaji Indoor Stadium
24th Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF) began at Netaji Indoor Stadium, Kolkata.
This festival was inaugurated by Bollywood Actor Amitabh Bachchan in the presence of West Bengal chief minister Mamta Banerjee.
This festival will serve as a platform to showcase cinemas across the globe.
Around 171 films and 150 short and documentary films from 70 countries will be screened at the festival.
This edition will also celebrate 100 years of Bengali cinema by screening classics by auteurs.

National Education Day is celebrated on November 11
11th November is National Education Day. This day is observed to commemorate the birth anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, the first education minister of independent India, who served from 15 August 1947 until 2 February 1958.
The Bharat Ratna recipient was not only responsible for streamlining Indian education system but also foresaw the establishment of the first IIT, IISc, and the University Grants Commission in his tenure.

3 new members appointed to CBDT
3 senior IRS officers K Dash, Akhilesh Ranjan and Neena Kumar have been appointed as new members of Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT).
Prior to this appointment, Dash was serving as principal chief commissioner of I-T (PCCIT) in Bhopal, Ranjan and Kumar were serving as PCCsIT in Delhi.
Important Points to Note:
With these three new joinings, CBDT now has full house strength of five members and chairman.
The two other members of CBDT are IRS officers Aditya Vikram and P C Mody while the borad’s Chairman is Sushil Chandra.

• 33 वें आसियान शिखर सम्मेलन आज सिंगापुर शहर के राज्य में शुरू हुआ।
• मुख्य कार्यक्रम सनटेक सिंगापुर कन्वेंशन सेंटर में आयोजित किया जा रहा है, जिसमें दस आसियान सदस्य आर्थिक, सुरक्षा और सांस्कृतिक सहयोग पर महत्वपूर्ण मुद्दों पर चर्चा करेंगे।
• सिंगापुर के प्रधान मंत्री ली हसीन लूंग ने शिखर सम्मेलन की अध्यक्षता की है।
• इस शिखर सम्मेलन के दौरान, आसियान नेताओं से आसियान स्मार्ट सिटी फ्रेमवर्क को अपनाने की उम्मीद है और शिखर सम्मेलन के दौरान आरसीईपी पर एक व्यापक समझौता किया जा सकता है।

24 वें कोलकाता अंतरराष्ट्रीय फिल्म महोत्सव नेताजी इंडोर स्टेडियम में शुरू हुआ
कोलकाता के नेताजी इंडोर स्टेडियम में 24 वें कोलकाता अंतर्राष्ट्रीय फिल्म महोत्सव (केआईएफएफ) शुरू हुआ।
इस समारोह का उद्घाटन बॉलीवुड अभिनेता अमिताभ बच्चन ने पश्चिम बंगाल की मुख्यमंत्री ममता बनर्जी की उपस्थिति में किया था।
यह त्यौहार दुनिया भर में सिनेमाघरों को प्रदर्शित करने के लिए मंच के रूप में कार्य करेगा।
त्यौहार में लगभग 171 फिल्मों और 70 देशों की 150 छोटी और वृत्तचित्र फिल्मों को दिखाया जाएगा।
यह संस्करण ऑटर्स द्वारा क्लासिक्स स्क्रीनिंग करके बंगाली सिनेमा के 100 साल भी मनाएगा।

11 नवंबर को राष्ट्रीय शिक्षा दिवस मनाया गया
11 नवंबर राष्ट्रीय शिक्षा दिवस है। इस दिन 15 अगस्त 1 9 47 से 2 फरवरी 1 9 58 तक स्वतंत्र भारत के पहले शिक्षा मंत्री मौलाना अबुल कलाम आजाद की जयंती मनाने के लिए मनाया जाता है।
भारत रत्न प्राप्तकर्ता न केवल भारतीय शिक्षा प्रणाली को व्यवस्थित करने के लिए ज़िम्मेदार थे बल्कि पहले आईआईटी, आईआईएससी और विश्वविद्यालय अनुदान आयोग की स्थापना के कार्यकाल में भी पूर्वगामी थे।

सीबीडीटी में तीन नये सदस्य नियुक्त
3 वरिष्ठ आईआरएस अधिकारी के दास, अखिलेश रंजन और नीना कुमार को केंद्रीय कर बोर्ड (सीबीडीटी) के नए सदस्य नियुक्त किया गया है।
इस नियुक्ति से पहले, दास भोपाल में आई-टी (पीसीसीआईटी) के मुख्य आयुक्त के रूप में कार्यरत थे, रंजन और कुमार दिल्ली में PCCsIT के रूप में सेवा कर रहे थे।
ध्यान देने के लिए महत्वपूर्ण अंक:
इन तीन नए जुड़ावों के साथ, सीबीडीटी में अब पांच सदस्यों और अध्यक्ष कि पूर्ण गृह ताकत है। सीबीडीटी के दो अन्य सदस्य आईआरएस अधिकारी आदित्य विक्रम और पी सी मोदी हैं जबकि बोराड के अध्यक्ष सुशील चंद्र हैं।

दुबई में सम्मानित होंगे सुपर 30 के संस्थापक आनंद कुमार
भारतीय शैक्षणिक कार्यक्रम सुपर 30 के संस्थापक आनंद कुमार को दुबई में प्रतिष्ठित वैश्विक शिक्षा पुरस्कार 2018 के साथ सम्मानित किया।
उन्हें शिक्षा के क्षेत्र में उनके 'अग्रणी' योगदान के लिए सम्मानित किया गया था।
