Coal India has created a transfer-posting policy to enhance the skill of the officers.

●    Coal India has decided to transfer nearly 20,000 executives every five years.

●    The company believes that this will increase the efficiency of the officers and also the fear of their collusion with outsiders.

●    Under this policy of Coal India, on an average, 4000 officers will be transferred each year.

41.6% of newborns in India breastfeed within one hour of birth: UNICEF

●    According to a report released by UNICEF on May 10, 2018, only 41.6% of children in India are able to drink mother's milk in one hour of birth.

●    This report says that in the past years, 95% of India's children used to breastfeed.

●    UNICEF cited India's National Family Health Survey (NFHS) data, saying that 54.9% of children breastfeed for about 2.9 months from birth in India.

ICF gave new look to LHB air-conditioned coaches

●   As part of the Rail Coach Design Innovation Plan, the production unit Integral Coach Factory (ICF), under the Ministry of Railways, has arranged an unbroken window by placing extra glass on vertical columns in the LACCN (LHB3 Tier AC) coach.

●    This will make the air-conditioned coach look attractive and look beautiful from outside.

●   Provision of uninterrupted window will be made in all air-conditioned sections in phase bound manner.

Center launches Digital India internship scheme

●    The Central Government has started the 'Digital India Internship' program for young people studying in technical studies.

●    The purpose of this program is to give them the opportunity to experience the transition through digital India and the process of government functioning.

●    Information and Technology Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad inaugurated a portal for digital India internship on May 09, 2018.

Government announces measures to help sugar cane farmers

●    The Central Government has announced several measures for the payment of arrears of sugarcane farmers.

●    The Government has announced the assistance of Rs 5.50 per quintal for the Perai Season 2017-18 for the assistance of sugar mills.

●    Keeping in mind the interests of farmers, the government increased the import duty on sugar from 50 percent to 100 percent.

Munjal-Burman hits the race for the acquisition of Fortis Healthcare

●    After a tough fight, the board of Fortis Healthcare approved the proposal for joint acquisition by Sunil Kant Munjal of Hero Enterprises and the Barman family of Dabur Group.

●    TPG Supported Manipal Hospitals, IIH Healthcare and Radiant Lifecare - KKR were also in the race for the acquisition of Fortis Healthcare.

Naval Commanders Conference concludes

●    First Biennial Naval Commanders Conference concludes 2018 today

●    Discussion on wide topics was discussed at this four-day conference.

●    The conference was inaugurated by the Defense Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman.

●    In his address, Mrs. Sitharaman said that Indian Navy is a power in the India-Pacific region.

US announces new sanctions on Iran

●    The US Treasury Department on May 10, 2018, prohibited six Iranian people from being allegedly linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

●    Along with this, three commercial companies have also been announced to impose economic sanctions.

●    One day earlier, the US had separated themselves from the nuclear deal in 2015.

Policy Commission welcomes Walmart-Flipkart deal of $ 16 billion

●    Policy Commission Deputy Chairman Rajiv Kumar today said that the Walmart-Flipkart deal of 16 billion US dollars (1.05 lakh crores) will have a good effect on foreign investment in India.

●    He also said that this deal is in line with India's Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) norms.

●    Wal-Mart Corporation has announced the acquisition of 77 percent stake in Flipkart, which is the biggest deal in e-commerce.

India and Panama signed two agreements

●    India and Panama signed a Memorandum of Agreement on Visa for diplomatic and official passport holders on May 09, 2018.

●    In addition, the two countries have also signed the agreement for cooperation in the field of agriculture.

●   These agreements were signed in the presence of Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu in Panama City and President Juan Carlos Varela Rodriguez of Panama.

Signing 7 agreements between India and Myanmar

●    Indian Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj met Myanmar State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi during her visit to Myanmar on May 11, 2018.

●    In this meeting, seven agreements signed between India and Myanmar were signed.

●    During this visit Prime Minister Modi's review of the decisions taken during the visit of September, 2017 was reviewed.

●    Here he also meets the Commander-in-Chief of the Army Force and Senior General Min Aung Hyang.

India's growth rate will be 7.3% this year: Fitch

●   Rating agency Fitch has said that India's economy will grow at 7.3 percent growth in this fiscal year.

●   This year it will increase to 7.5 percent next year.

●  According to Fitch, India's economy will achieve this momentum of development after reaching the pre-natal ban on money supply and the problems arising from GST have ended.

Maldives Special Economic Zone (EEZ) joint monitoring

●   Indian Navy's Offshore Monitoring Ship (NOPV) Sumedha has been deployed for joint monitoring of the EEZ of the Maldives from 9th to 17th May, 2018.

●    This deployment has been done as part of the Navy's mission based deployment.

●    This surveillance vessel will operate the mall from 11th to 12th May 2018, during which this ship will train the personnel of the Maldives National Defense Forces (MNDF) personnel.

●   President Shri Ram Nath Kovind addressed National Technology Day celebration in New Delhi today (May 11, 2018).
