DGFT appoints Ajay Kumar Bhalla as its DG
Senior IAS officer Ajay Kumar Bhalla was on 13 October 2016 appointed as the Director General of Foreign Trade (DGFT).
● He succeeds Anup Wadhawan, who was appointed as Additional Secretary in the commerce ministry.
● Bhalla, a 1984 batch IAS officer of Assam-Meghalaya cadre, is presently an Additional Secretary in the Commerce Ministry.
● Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) organisation is an attached office of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and is headed by Director General of Foreign Trade.
● It is entrusted with responsibilities for formulating and implementing the foreign trade policy with the main objective of promoting India's exports.
● It also issues authorisation to exporters and monitors their corresponding obligations through a network of 36 regional offices and an extension counter at Indore.
केंद्र सरकार ने भारतीय प्रशासनिक सेवा के वरिष्ठ अधिकारी अजय कुमार भल्ला को विदेश व्यापार महानिदेशक (डीजीएफटी) नियुक्त किया है. उनकी यह नियुक्ति कार्मिक एवं प्रशिक्षण विभाग के आदेश से की गयी है.
● 1984 के असम-मेघालय कैडर के प्रशासनिक अधिकारी भल्ला वर्तमान में वाणिज्य मंत्रालय के अतिरिक्त सचिव हैं. उनकी नियुक्ति अनूप वाधवान के स्थान पर की गई है. श्री वाधवान को वाणिज्य मंत्रालय में अतिरिक्त सचिव बनाया गया है.
● मेघालय सरकार सहित केन्द्र में अनेकों अहम पदों पर वे अपनी सेवाएँ दे चुके हैं.
● उन्हें स्टील मंत्रालय, एमएमटीसी, ईस्टर्न कोलफील्ड सहित सरकार और सरकार के पीएसयू में लम्बी सेवाओं का अनुभव है।
● भल्ला ने दिल्ली से कॉलेज की शिक्षा ग्रहण की.
● प्रशासनिक सेवाओं में उन्होंने सरकार की विकासात्मक परियोजनाओं को प्रोत्साहित किया.
● विदेश व्यापार महानिदेशालय (डीजीएफटी) वाणिज्य और उद्योग मंत्रालय का संबद्ध कार्यालय है और विदेश व्यापार के महानिदेशक के नेतृत्व में कार्यरत है.
