Court of Arbitration for Sport suspends wrestler Narsingh Yadav for four years
The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), situated in Lausanne, Switzerland, on 18 August 2016 banned wrestler Narsingh Yadav for four years following an appeal by World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).
• The CAS also ruled to disqualify all the competitive results obtained by Narsingh from 25 June 2016.
• The CAS panel further stated that there was no evidence to accept his claim that his food/drink was spiked.
• After this will not be able to participate at the Rio 2016 Olympics. He was scheduled to commence his campaign on 19 August 2016 against Zelimkhan Khadjiev of France in the 74 category.
• In July 2016, Narsingh Yadav was tested positive for a banned substance steroid in an out-of-competition test conducted by the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA).
• In the samples collected at the National camp in Sonepat, he was tested positive for the methandienone, which is a banned anabolic steroid.
• However on 1 August 2016, he was given clean chit by NADA, which accepted his claim of sabotage.
कोर्ट ऑफ़ आरबिट्रेशन फॉर स्पोर्ट्स (सीएएस) ने विश्व एंटी-डोपिंग एजेंसी (वाडा) की अपील पर 18 अगस्त 2016 को पहलवान नरसिंह यादव पर चार वर्ष का प्रतिबन्ध लगाया.
• सीएएस के निर्णय के अनुसार नरसिंह के 25 जून 2016 के बाद से सभी प्रतियोगी परिणाम अयोग्य घोषित किये जायेंगे एवं इस दौरान के उनके द्वारा जीते गये पदक, अंक और पुरस्कार जब्त कर लिये जायेंगे.
• सीएएस ने कहा कि नरसिंह के भोजन अथवा पेय में किसी प्रकार की मिलावट के कोई सबूत नहीं मिले हैं इसलिए उन्होंने यह निर्णय लिया.
• इस निर्णय के बाद नरसिंह रियो ओलंपिक के किसी भी मुकाबले में शामिल नहीं हो सकेंगे. इससे पहले उनका 19 अगस्त को 74 किलोग्राम श्रेणी में मुकाबला होना तय था.
• नरसिंह यादव जुलाई 2016 को हुए डोप टेस्ट में फेल हो गए थे.
• नेशनल एंटी डोपिंग एजेंसी (नाडा) ने नरसिंह यादव के शरीर से स्टेरॉयड पाया था जिसका इस्तेमाल मांसपेशियों का भार और ताकत बढ़ाने के लिए किया जाता है. इस स्टेरॉयड को वर्ल्ड एंटी डोपिंग एजेंसी द्वारा प्रतिबंधित किया गया है.
• नरसिंह के अपील के बाद 1 अगस्त 2016 को नाडा ने उनके द्वारा खाने में मिलावट की बात को स्वीकार किया एवं उन्हें क्लीन चिट दी थी.
