Alok Kumar Verma took charge as Delhi Police Commissioner
On 29 February 2016 Senior IPS officer Alok Kumar Verma took charge as the Delhi Police Commissioner.
• He will be at this post till July 2017.
• He succeeded B.S. Bassi, who retired on 29th Feb 2016.
• Previously he was Director General (Prisons) of Tihar jail.
• He is an IPS officer of the AGMUT (Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram and Union Territory) cadre,1979-batch
• He served Delhi Police as Deputy Commissioner of Police, South District.
• He also served Delhi Police as Joint Commissioner of the Crime Branch,
• He was also the Joint Commissioner of Police, New Delhi Range, as well as Special CP (Intelligence) and Special CP, Vigilance.
• He has also served as the Inspector General of Police in Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Director General of Police (DGP) of Puducherry.
