All-India Forward Bloc leader Ashok Ghosh died

Veteran All-India Forward Bloc leader Ashok Ghosh died on 3 March 2016 in Kolkata.
• He was 93.
• He created a record of sorts by remaining the head for over six decades to the Bengal unit of Forward Bloc.
• The Bloc was founded by Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose on 3 May 1939.
• He joined the All-India Forward Bloc in 1941 by getting influenced by Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.
• He was elected as the state secretary of the Forward Bloc on 22 June 195.
• He, along with Jyoti Basu played an important role in the formation of the first Left Front government in 1977, which was in power till 2011 for almost 34 years.
• He was well known for his Spartan lifestyle and affable personality and his popularity is across party lines.
