Acclaimed film maker Aurobindo Mukherjee breathed his last.

 Mukherjee was the producer of religion Bengali works of art such as Agniswar, Mouchak and Nishi Padma in the mid 1970s.

Famous performing artist Jaya Bhaduri was the revelation of Mukherjee. He dispatched Bhaduri in Dhanyee Meye in 1971. Mukherjee's first film, Kichhukhon, got him the President's Award. His film Nishi Padma, featuring Uttam Kumar and Sabitri Chatterjee, was revamped in Hindi by Shakti Samanta as Amar Prem. Mukherjee composed the screenplay for the motion picture, which earned him a Filmfare Award.
