Aakhiri Ahuti, Free-of-cost service to ferry remains of NE people, launched
Delhi Police and budget carrier IndiGo in January 2017 launched ‘Akhiri Ahuti’ a humanitarian initiative under which the bodies of the North-east residents who die in Delhi will be carried to their homes.
● Under the initiative, the Gurugram (Gurgaon) based airline will ferry the bodies to their homes, without levying any charge.
● The service would be available only on the recommendation of the Delhi police.
● The initiative was ideated by Robin Hibu, a joint commissioner of Delhi police and the nodal officer for Northeast people after he faced several incidents in which people from the North-eastern states were cremated or buried in Delhi in absence of their family or friends.
● Financial constraints of the relatives of the deceased didn’t allow them to take back the body or come to Delhi and cremate the body.
● At present, Indigo flies to five airports in North-East India from Delhi and they are Dibrugarh Chabwa, Dimapur, Guwahati, Imphal Municipal airport and Agartala.
दिल्ली पुलिस एवं हवाई यात्रा कम्पनी इंडिगो ने जनवरी 2017 में आखिरी आहुति नामक पहल आरंभ की.
● इसके तहत उत्तर-पूर्व भारत के उन बेसहारा एवं निर्धन लोगों के परिवार के सम्मुख क्रियाकर्म हेतु पहल आरंभ की गयी जिनकी मृत्यु दिल्ली में हो गयी हो.
● इस पहल के तहत इंडिगो द्वारा इन लोगों के मृत शरीर को उनके घर तक मुफ्त ले जाया जायेगा. हालांकि यह सेवा दिल्ली पुलिस द्वारा सिफारिश किये जाने के बाद ही दी जाएगी.
● उत्तर-पूर्व भारत के लोगों के लिए बनाये गये दिल्ली पुलिस के सेल में नियुक्त संयुक्त आयुक्त रोबिन हिबु द्वारा यह पहल आरम्भ की गयी. उन्होंने दिल्ली में इन लोगों के साथ होने वाली समस्याओं को देखते हुए यह कदम उठाने का निर्णय लिया.
● आर्थिक तंगी के कारण उत्तर पूर्व के लोग दिल्ली में मृत अपने परिजन का शव लेने में असमर्थ होते हैं जिसके कारण दिल्ली पुलिस इन शवों का अंतिम संस्कार करती थी.
● इंडिगो के अध्यक्ष एवं निदेशक आदित्य घोष के अनुसार, “मैं दिल्ली पुलिस के साथ इस पहल के लिए सहयोगी भूमिका निभाना दायित्व समझता हूं. हम इन लोगों की अंतिम यात्रा उनके घर तक करवाना सुनिश्चित करेंगे.”
● फ़िलहाल इंडिगो उत्तर-पूर्वी भारत के लिए दिल्ली से पांच स्थानों – डिब्रूगढ, चबवा, दीमापुर, गुवाहाटी, इम्फाल तथा अगरतला के लिए विमान सेवा उपलब्ध करा रहा है.
