Ashton Carter, US Defence Secretary arrived India.

US Secretary of Defence Ashton Carter arrived in India on a three-day visit. Carter reached Visakhapatnam from where he left for Delhi. He met Indian Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar. During his visit, the two countries will be signing the Defence Framework Agreement (D.F.A) that will define the US-India Defence cooperation over the next decade. This is Carter's first visit to India as Defence Secretary.

Ace Indian archer Deepika Kumari outclassed Chang Hye Jin of Korea in straight sets to clinch the bronze medal in the women's individual recurve event of the World Cup. Seeded ninth in the event, Deepika came out all guns blazing to deflate her second-seeded opponent 6-2 to come up with a clean performance. Korean archers bagged gold and silver medals.

China’s sprinter Su Bingtian became the first Asia-born athlete to run a sub-10 second 100 meters when he finished third in the Diamond League meeting in Eugene. The 25-year-old clocked 9.99 seconds in the race won by American Tyson Gay in 9.88 seconds. While Mike Rogers clocked 9.90 seconds and came at second place.

Honour for Mr. Atal Bihari Vajpayee

Bangladesh is set to honour for former P.M. Atal Bihari Vajpayee for his outstanding support for the country's independence from Pakistan in 1971 when he was a Lok Sabha member. Bangladesh will hand over Vajpayee's "Friends of Bangladesh Liberation War Award" to Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his upcoming visit to the country from 6th June 2015. Mr. Vajpayee, who is unwell, could not visit Bangladesh to receive the honour.
