Padma Vibhushan awardee O.N.V. Kurup passed away.

 Padma Vibhushan awardee, eminent Malayalam poet, lyricist, professor and environmentalist O.N.V Kurup passed away due to cardiac arrest. He was 84.

He was one of the leading lyricists in Malayalam film, drama, and album industry and also the much-respected teacher of Malayalam literature.

About O N V Kurup:

Born on 27 May 1931 in Chavara, Kollam, Kurup went to people in general Government School, Chavara.

After graduating with a four-year certification in Economics from SN College, Kollam, he moved to Thiruvananthapuram where he joined Travancore University (now Kerala University) and sought after Master of Arts in Malayalam writing.

He was a speaker at Maharajas College, Ernakulam, University College, Trivandrum, Arts and Science College, Kozhikode and Brennen College, Thalassery.
He joined Government Women's College, Trivandrum as the Head of Malayalam Department.
He was additionally a meeting educator at Calicut University.
He resigned from an administration in 1986.
He got the Padma Shri in 1998 and Padma Vibhushan in 2011, the fourth and second most astounding nonmilitary personnel respects from the Government of India.
In 2007, he was granted an Honorary Doctorate by University of Kerala.
He got the Jnanpith Award, India's most astounding abstract honor, for the year 2007. He is the fifth Jnanpith laureate from Kerala and the second Malayalam writer to win the prestigious recompense.
His initially distributed sonnet was Munnottu (Forward) which showed up in a neighborhood week after week in 1946.
He distributed a book named Chikunga Panapatram (The Thirsty Chalice) which was a gathering of his initial poems during 1946-1956.
