NATIONAL:
Brookfield acquires RILs East West Pipeline
• India Infrastructure Trust, an infrastructure investment trust (InvIT), sponsored by Brookfield, will acquire the East West Pipeline for Rs. 3,000 crore.
• The pipeline is owned by Reliance Industries Ltd’s promoters’ family. As a part of the transaction, the InvIT would acquire 100% equity interest in Pipeline Infrastructure Private Ltd. which currently owns and operates the pipeline.
• Following this acquisition by Brookfield, the existing pipeline usage agreement has been reworked. Now, reserved capacity will be cut to 33 Million Metric Standard Cubic Meter Per Day (MMSCMD) against 56 MMSCMD and any unutilised capacity payment by RIL will be the difference between Rs.500 crore a quarter and actual revenue earned by PIPL.
DRDO successfully test fired Man Portable Anti-tank Guided Missile
• Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully test-fired Man Portable Anti-Tank Guided Missile (MPATGM) in the desert ranges of Rajasthan.
• The MPATGM is a third-generation anti-tank guided missile (ATGM) comes loaded with a high-explosive anti-tank (HEAT) warhead. It has a maximum engagement range of about 2.5 kilometers. The indigenously developed missile has features like a state-of-the-art imaging infrared radar seeker with integrated avionics.
Arecanut Gets Its First GI Tag For Sirsi Supari
• Registrar of Geographical Indications, Government of India, accorded a GI tag, ‘Sirsi Supari’, to arecanut grown in Sirsi, Siddpaur and Yellapur taluks of Uttara Kannada district in Karnataka. The Totagars’ Cooperative Sale Society (TSS) Ltd, a Sirsi-based agri cooperative, is the registered proprietor of the GI ‘Sirsi Supari’.
NTPC partners with Indian Railways for fly ash transportation
• State-run National Thermal Power Corporation Ltd. (NTPC) has teamed up with the Indian Railways for fly ash transportation. The partnership is to help enhance ash utilisation at Rihand and Vindhyachal Super Thermal Power plants. NTPC had signed a memorandum of understanding with Hazipur-based East Central Railway Zone for transportation of fly ash under Indian Railways’ Special Freight Train Operator scheme.
IFFM to be from 29th March at Malappuram, Kerala
• The 77th International Film Festival of Malappuram (IFFM) organised by the Rasmi Film Society will be held at Malappuram, Kerala on March 29, 30 and 31. Actor Indrans will inaugurate the festival at the Municipal bus-stand auditorium, named after filmmaker Mrinal. Sen.V.C. Abhilash’s Aalorukkam will be the inaugural film. There will be 11 films in the World, Indian and Malayalam categories.
RInfra to sell Delhi-Agra Toll Road in Rs 3,600 crore deal
• Reliance Infrastructure (RInfra) has signed a "definitive binding agreement" with Singapore-based Cube Highways and Infrastructure for sale of its 100 per cent stake in Delhi-Agra (DA) Toll Road Pvt Ltd. The deal is valued over Rs 3,600 crore.
• In addition, NHAI claims of Rs 1,200 crore to be filed by DA Toll Road will flow directly to Reliance Infrastructure. DA Toll Road Pvt Ltd is the special purpose vehicle (SPV) of RInfra, which operates the 180 kilometre long six-lane road that connects the national capital with Agra on National Highway-2.
ECI to launch Observer App
• The Election Commission of India (ECI) is to launch the Observer App, a mobile application, that will help poll observers to submit reports.
• The poll observers will get all the important notifications and alerts through the ‘Observer App’. It will also help them get their deployment status and download the ID card. As the observers will be involved in real-time disposal of cases of violation of the Model Code of Conduct and expenditure received through another mobile application ‘cVIGIL’, those details will also be available on the ‘Observer App’.
BANK AND ECONOMICS:
Russia releases coin commemorating annexation of Crimea.
• A new coin that features the Crimea or Kerch Strait Bridge released by Russia’s central bank, to mark Crimea’s reunification with Russia. Two million new five ruble (about $0.08, €0.07) coins were pressed which depict an outline of the peninsula which was annexed by Russia in 2014.
RBI categorises IDBI Bank as private sector lender
• IDBI Bank has been categorised as a private sector bank for regulatory purposes with effect from January 21, 2019.
• This follows Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) acquiring 51 per cent of the total paid-up equity share capital of the bank. In April 2005, IDBI Bank was categorised under a new sub-group, ‘other public sector banks,’ by the RBI.
• The Bank has a high proportion of bad loans. In another release, the RBI announced that the State Bank of India, ICICI Bank and HDFC Bank will continue to be identified as Domestic Systemically Important Banks (D-SIBs). D-SIB means that a bank is 'too big to fail'.

World Consumer Rights Day is observed on 15th March
• The consumer movement marks 15th March with World Consumer Rights Day every year, as a means of raising global awareness about consumer rights and needs. The theme for World Consumer Rights Day 2019 is ‘Trusted Smart Products’.
• The day demands that the rights of all consumers are respected and protected, and to protest against market abuses and social injustices which undermine those rights. World Consumer Rights Day was inspired by President John F Kennedy, who sent a special message to the US Congress on 15th March 1962, in which he formally addressed the issue of consumer rights. He was the first world leader to do so.
• This World Consumers Rights Day highlights what consumers want and need from a connected world. This year over 100 members in over 90 countries are coming together to mark World Consumer Rights Day.

M.R.Kumar takes charge as Chairman of LIC
• M.R.Kumar, the newly-appointed chairman of Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC), has taken charge on 14th March. Mr.Kumar took over from Hemant Bhargava who had been the acting chairman since January 2019. Mr.Kumar had joined LIC as a direct recruit officer in 1983. The government had also named two MDs for LIC, Vipin Anand and T.C. Suseel Kumar.
Sweden's 16-year-old Greta Thunberg nominated for Nobel Peace Prize
• Greta Thunberg, the 16-year-old Swedish student and activist has been nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize for her efforts in climate activism and fighting global warming. She began her weekly protest in August 2018 by riding her bicycle to the Swedish Parliament with ''School strike for climate'' sign.
• The #FridaysForFuture movement went viral and spread over 80 countries. If she were to win, she would be the youngest recipient since Pakistan's Malala Yousafzai, who was 17 when she received the Nobel Peace Prize in 2014.
Padmanaban Gopalan bagged the Commonwealth Youth Award for the Asian region
• Social entrepreneur from Tamil Nadu, Padmanaban Gopalan, founder of No Food Waste named the winner of the Commonwealth Youth Award for the Asian region worth 3,000 Pounds at a ceremony at the Commonwealth Secretariat in London. He was given the honour for his work towards achieving the UN’s Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) of Zero Hunger with his innovative system of recovering excess food to distribute to those in need.
Army Chief Bipin Rawat conferred PVSM by President Kovind
• Army Chief General Bipin Rawat was conferred with the Param Vishisht Seva Medal (PVSM), the highest military medal award in recognition of peace-time service not accounting to gallantry, by President Ram Nath Kovind. President also awarded three Kirti Chakras and 15 Shaurya Chakras to armed forces personnel for displaying gallantry.
• Two Kirti Chakras were posthumously awarded to Sepoy Vramha Pal Singh of the Rajput Regiment and Rajendra Kumar Nain, a constable with the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). A Shaurya Chakra was also posthumously awarded to Ravindra Dhanawade by the President, who is the Supreme Commander of the armed forces.
Three Kirti Chakras and 15 Shaurya Chakras awarded by the President to Army Personnel
• President Ram Nath Kovind conferred 3 Kirti Chakras and 15 Shaurya Chakras to Armed Forces Personnel for displaying conspicuous gallantry, indomitable courage and extreme devotion to duty at the Defence Investiture Ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi. 2 Kirti Chakras and 1 Shaurya Chakra were given posthumously. 15 Param Vishisht Seva Medals, 1 Uttam Yudh Seva Medal and 25 Ati Vishisht Seva Medals were also conferred on senior officers of the Armed Forces for their distinguished service by the President.
INTERNATIONAL:
Special olympics World Game began in UAE
• Special Olympics World Games 2019 is held at Abu Dhabi, from March 14 to 21. The Games were declared open by Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi. There are 7,500 athletes from 190 countries taking part at the Games this year. Team India is the second largest contingent after the host UAE with 387 players, along with coaches and other staff. The Special Olympics takes place every two years and alternates between summer and winter.
UK removes cap on PhD level work visas
• U.K. announced in a Budget update, referred to as the annual Spring Statement, that from later this year all PhD-level highly-qualified roles will be exempt from any cap on the numbers that can apply and come to work in Britain.
• Indians are among the largest group of professionals set to benefit from a new U.K. government plan to remove any limit on the number of PhD-level work visas to be granted. A key pillar of the plan is backing Britain to remain at the forefront of the technology revolution that is transforming the economy. In Order to support that ambition, the country completely exempt PhD-level roles from the visa caps.
Vienna topped the Most Liveable Cities index for the 10th year
• The Austrian capital Vienna has topped Mercer's index of most liveable cities for the 10th year in a row. Zurich in Switzerland, is placed second in the index, while Auckland, Munich and Vancouver came joint third. Chennai, the capital of Tamil Nadu is ranked at 105 in Mercer's Quality Of Living Index and is the number one city from India.
• Luxembourg was named the safest city in a separate personal safety league table. Global consulting firm Mercer surveyed in 231 cities across the globe and were ranked them based on factors such as healthcare, education, public services, recreation, crime, housing and personal freedom. The ranking was based on data analysed between September and November 2018.

रिलायंस की ईस्ट-वेस्ट पाइपलाइन को ब्रुकफील्ड कंपनी 13000 करोड़ रु. में खरीदेगी
• कनाडा की इन्वेस्टमेंट कंपनी ब्रुकफील्ड रिलायंस इंडस्ट्रीज की ईस्ट-वेस्ट पाइपलाइन लिमिटेड को 13,000 करोड़ रुपए में खरीदेगी। ब्रुकफील्ड द्वारा स्पॉन्सर और इसकी 90% हिस्सेदारी वाले इंडिया इन्फ्रास्ट्रक्चर ट्रस्ट के जरिए यह अधिग्रहण किया जाएगा।
• एग्रीमेंट के मुताबिक पाइपलाइन की रिजर्व कैपेसिटी प्रति दिन 56 मिलियन मीट्रिक स्टैंडर्ड क्यूबिक मीटर से घटाकर 33 मिलियन मीट्रिक स्टैंडर्ड क्यूबिक मीटर की जाएगी।
• ईस्ट-वेस्ट पाइपलाइन लिमिटेड का नाम पहले रिलायंस गैस ट्रांसपोर्टेशन इन्फ्रास्ट्रक्चर लिमिटेड था। यह 1400 किलोमीटर लंबी पाइपलाइन का संचालन करती है। इसके जरिए रिलायंस इंडस्ट्रीज के केजी बेसिन ब्लॉक की नेचुरल गैस का ट्रांसपोर्ट किया जाता है।
• आंध्रप्रदेश के काकीनाडा से शुरू होकर गुजरात के भरूच तक जाने वाला ईस्ट-वेस्ट पाइपलाइन इन्फ्रास्ट्रक्चर घाटे में है। इसकी क्षमता का सिर्फ 5% संचालन हो रहा है। रिलायंस के केजी डी 6 ब्लॉक से पिछले कई सालों से उत्पादन में कमी दर्ज की जा रही है।
युद्ध में टैंक का काल बनेगी यह मिसाइल, एटीजीएम का डीआरडीओ ने किया सफल परीक्षण
• युद्ध में टैंक को नष्ट करने के लिए डीआरडीओ द्वारा विकसित मैन पोर्टेबल एंटी टैंक गाइडेड मिसाइल का भारत ने राजस्थान के पोकऱण रेंज में बुधवार रात को सफल परीक्षण किया। इससे भारतीय थल सेना की क्षमता में अभूतपूर्व वृद्धि होगी।
• इससे युद्ध काल में दुश्मनों के टैंक को युद्ध के मैदान में आसानी से नष्ट किया जा सकता है। भारतीय सेना ऐसे मिसाइल की मांग बहुत समय से कर रही थी। डीआरडीओ ने राजस्थान के रेगिस्तान में कल रात 2-3 किलोमीटर स्ट्राइक रेंज के साथ इस मिसाइल का परीक्षण किया।
• भारत अपनी खुद की मिसाइल के विकास होने तक फ्रांस से 5000 एंटी टैंक गाइडेड मिसाइल को खरीद रहा है। इसके लिए रक्षामंत्री निर्मला सीतारमण की अध्यक्षता में हुई रक्षा खरीद समिति की बैठक में मंजूरी भी दी जा चुकी है। मिलान एंटी टैंक गाइडेड मिसाइल से भारत की रक्षा क्षमता में वृद्धि होगी।
सिरसी सुपारी’ को सुपारी के लिए पहला GI जीआई टैग प्राप्त हुआ
• भारत सरकार के भौगोलिक संकेतक के रजिस्ट्रार ने कर्नाटक के उत्तर कन्नड़ जिले के सिरसी, सिदपुर और येलापुर तालुकों में उगाए जाने वाली सुपारी,'सिरसी सुपारी’ को जीआई टैग दिया है।
• टोटैगर्स कोऑपरेटिव सेल सोसाइटी (TSS) लिमिटेड, एक सिरसी-आधारित कृषि सहकारी संस्था है, जीआई 'सिरसी सुपारी' की पंजीकृत प्रोप्राइटर है. लगभग 40,000 एकड़ के क्षेत्र में उगाया जाने वाली, 'सिरसी सुपारी' का वार्षिक उत्पादन लगभग 40,000 टन होने का अनुमान है।
अब ट्रेन से जाएगी राख, एनटीपीसी व रेलवे के बीच हुआ समझौता
• सार्वजनिक क्षेत्र की एनटीपीसी (NTPC) ने बृहस्पतिवार को कहा कि उसने बिजलीघर (Power Plant) से निकलने वाली राख (Fly Ash) के परिवहन के लिये रेलवे (Railway) के साथ गठजोड़ किया है। इस कदम से रिहंद तथा विंध्याचल तापीय बिजलीघर से निकलने वाली राख के बेहतर उपयोग में मदद मिलेगी।
• एनटीपीसी ने भारतीय रेलवे के विशेष माल भाड़ा ट्रेन परिचालन (एसएफटीओ) के तहत बिजलीघरों से निकलने वाली राख (फ्लाई एश) के परिवहन के लिये पूर्वी मध्य रेलवे जोन के साथ समझौता ज्ञापन पर दस्तखत किये हैं। पूर्वी मध्य रेलवे का मुख्यालय बिहार के हाजीपुर में है।
IFFM 29 मार्च को मलप्पुरम, केरल में होगा
• रस्मी फिल्म सोसाइटी द्वारा आयोजित 77 वाँ अंतर्राष्ट्रीय फिल्म महोत्सव मलप्पुरम (IFFM) 29, 30 और 31 मार्च को केरल के मलप्पुरम में आयोजित किया जाएगा। फिल्मकार मृणाल के नाम पर अभिनेता इंद्रासन नगरपालिका बस-सभागार में समारोह का उद्घाटन करेंगे। Sen.V.C. अभिलाष की अलोरुक्कम उद्घाटन फिल्म होगी। विश्व, भारतीय और मलयालम श्रेणियों में 11 फिल्में होंगी।
दिल्ली-आगरा टोल रोड को बेचकर कर्ज चुकाएंगे अनिल अंबानी, विदेशी कंपनी से चल रही है बातचीत
• लंबे समय से करीब 45 हजार करोड़ के कर्ज में डूबे रिलायंस ग्रुप के चेयरमैन अनिल अंबानी की कंपनी रिलायंस इंफ्रास्ट्रक्चर लिमिटेड ने गुरुवार को कहा कि वह दिल्ली-आगरा टोल रोडवे की अपनी पूरी हिस्सेदारी सिंगापुर स्थित क्यूब हाईवे को 3,600 करोड़ रुपये में बेचेगी, जिसके बाद अनिल अंबानी की अगुवाई वाली कंपनी का कर्ज 25 प्रतिशत घटकर 5,000 करोड़ रुपये से कम हो जाएगा। रिलायंस इंफ्रास्ट्रक्चर (RInfra) ने इस संबंध में क्यूब हाईवे के साथ एक समझौता किया है। क्यूब हाईवे और इन्फ्रास्ट्रक्चर III Pte Ltd एक सिंगापुर स्थित कंपनी है जो वैश्विक अवसंरचना फंड - आई स्क्वॉयर कैपिटल और अबू धाबी निवेश प्राधिकरण की पूर्ण स्वामित्व वाली सहायक कंपनी है।
ईसीआई ने ऑब्जर्वर ऐप लॉन्च किया।
• भारत निर्वाचन आयोग (ईसीआई) एक मोबाइल एप्लिकेशन ऑब्जर्वर ऐप लॉन्च करने जा रहा है, जो पोल पर्यवेक्षकों को रिपोर्ट प्रस्तुत करने में मदद करेगा।
• चुनाव पर्यवेक्षकों को ऑब्जर्वर ऐप ’के माध्यम से सभी महत्वपूर्ण सूचनाएं और अलर्ट मिलेंगे। • यह उन्हें उनकी तैनाती की स्थिति प्राप्त करने और आईडी कार्ड डाउनलोड करने में भी मदद करेगा। जैसा कि पर्यवेक्षक आदर्श आचार संहिता के उल्लंघन के मामलों के वास्तविक समय निपटान में शामिल होंगे और एक अन्य मोबाइल एप्लिकेशन mobile cVIGIL ’के माध्यम से प्राप्त व्यय, वे विवरण‘ ऑब्जर्वर ऐप ’पर भी उपलब्ध होंगे।
बैंक और अर्थव्यवस्था
रूस ने क्रीमिया के स्मरणोत्सव का सिक्का जारी किया।
• क्रीमिया या केर्च स्ट्रेट ब्रिज की विशेषता वाला एक नया सिक्का रूस के केंद्रीय बैंक द्वारा जारी किया गया है, जो क्रीमिया के रूस के साथ पुनर्मिलन को चिह्नित करता है।
• दो मिलियन नए पांच रूबल (लगभग $ 0.08, € 0.07) सिक्के बनाए गए है, जो 2014 में रूस द्वारा जीती गई प्रायद्वीप की एक रूपरेखा को दर्शाते हैं।
• यह क्रीमिया का दूसरा स्मरणोत्सव है, पहला 2015 में जारी किया गया 200 रूबल का नोट था और नोटों पर इन प्रतीकों को देखने के लिए रूस के लोगों की इच्छा को दर्शाया गया था।
RBI ने IDBI बैंक को निजी क्षेत्र के ऋणदाता के रूप में वर्गीकृत किया
• RBI की अधिसूचना के अनुसार, जीवन बीमा निगम द्वारा बहुसंख्यक हिस्सेदारी के अधिग्रहण के बाद IDBI बैंक को एक निजी क्षेत्र के ऋणदाता के रूप में वर्गीकृत किया गया है, आईडीबीआई बैंक आरबीआई के त्वरित सुधारात्मक कार्रवाई ढांचे के तहत आता है जो इसे कॉर्पोरेट ऋण और शाखा विस्तार, वेतन वृद्धि और अन्य नियमित गतिविधियों से प्रतिबंधित करता है।
• जनवरी 2019 में, एलआईसी ने लगभग अशक्त आईडीबीआई बैंक में नियंत्रित 51% हिस्सेदारी लेने की प्रक्रिया पूरी की। आईडीबीआई बैंक को 21 जनवरी, 2019 से 'निजी क्षेत्र के बैंक' के रूप में वर्गीकृत किया गया है।

• विश्व उपभोक्ता अधिकार दिवस हर वर्ष 15 मार्च को दुनिया भर के उपभोक्ता समूहों के लिए एक सदस्यता संगठन कंज्यूमर इंटरनेशनल द्वारा एक पहल के हिस्से के रूप में मनाया जाता है. विश्व उपभोक्ता दिवस 2019 का विषय "Trusted Smart Products" है।
• विश्व उपभोक्ता अधिकार दिवस राष्ट्रपति जॉन एफ कैनेडी से प्रेरित था, जिन्होंने 15 मार्च 1962 को अमेरिकी कांग्रेस को एक विशेष संदेश भेजा था, जिसमें उन्होंने औपचारिक रूप से उपभोक्ता अधिकारों के मुद्दे को संबोधित किया गया था. ऐसा करने वाले वह विश्व के पहले नेता थे।

एम. आर. कुमार ने एलआईसी के अध्यक्ष के रूप में कार्यभार संभालाा
• एमआर कुमार ने भारतीय जीवन बीमा निगम के अध्यक्ष के रूप में कार्यभार संभाला। वह अप्रैल, 2017 से उत्तर क्षेत्र, जिसके अंतर्गत दिल्ली, हरियाणा, हिमाचल प्रदेश, जम्मू एवं कश्मीर, पंजाब, राजस्थान राज्य व केंद्रशासित प्रदेश चंडीगढ़ शामिल है, के क्षेत्रीय प्रबंधक प्रभारी थे। इससे पूर्व उन्होंने केंद्रीय कार्यालय, मुंबई में कार्यकारी निदेशक, पेंशन एवं समूह योजनाएं और कार्यकारी निदेशक, कार्मिक के रूप में महत्त्वपूर्ण पदों पर कार्य किया है। उत्तरी क्षेत्र के अलावा, वह चेन्नई में दक्षिण क्षेत्र और कानपुर में उत्तर मध्य क्षेत्र के प्रमुख भी रहे हैं। उन्होंने अहमदाबाद और एर्नाकुलम मंडलों के प्रभारी के रूप में भी कार्य किया है। वहीं टीसी सुशील कुमार ने भारतीय जीवन बीमा निगम के प्रबंध निदेशक के रूप में कार्यभार संभाला।
विश्व नेताओं को चुनौती देने वाली 16 वर्षीय छात्रा नोबेल शांति पुरस्कार के लिए नामित
• स्वीडन की 16 वर्षीय पर्यावरण कार्यकर्ता ग्रेटा थनबर्ग को इस साल के नोबेल शांति पुरस्कार के लिए नामित किया गया है।
• नार्वे के 3 सांसदों ने उनका नाम इस प्रतिष्ठित पुरस्कार के लिए नामित किया है।
• पिछले साल अगस्त में उन्होंने जलवायु परिवर्तन के मुद्दे पर प्रधानमंत्री मोदी समेत विश्व के कई बड़े नेताओं को घेरा था।
• बता दें कि 17 साल की उम्र में शांति पुरस्कार जीतने वाली पाकिस्तान की मलाला युसुफजई पुरस्कार पाने वाली सबसे युवा व्यक्ति हैं।
पद्मनाभन गोपालन ने एशियाई क्षेत्र के लिए राष्ट्रमंडल युवा पुरस्कार जीता
• तमिलनाडु के एक सामाजिक उद्यमी, नो फूड वेस्ट के संस्थापक पद्मनाभन गोपालन को लंदन में राष्ट्रमंडल सचिवालय में एक समारोह में 3,000 पाउंड मूल्य के एशियाई क्षेत्र के लिए राष्ट्रमंडल युवा पुरस्कार का विजेता चुना गया।
• उनकी पहल एक जियो-मैपिंग प्लेटफ़ॉर्म चलाती है, जो उपयोगकर्ताओं को "हंगर स्पॉट" पर भोजन छोड़ने की अनुमति देता है और अब तक 14 शहरों में 650,000 से अधिक भोजन प्राप्त कर चुका है और मंच का उपयोग 12,000 से अधिक स्वयंसेवकों द्वारा किया गया है।

• राष्ट्रपति रामनाथ कोविंद ने बृहस्पतिवार को वीरता और अदम्य साहस का प्रदर्शन करने के लिए सशस्त्र बलों के कर्मियों को तीन कीर्ति चक्र और 15 शौर्य चक्र के साथ कई अन्य सेवा पदक प्रदान किए। इस दौरान सेना प्रमुख जनरल बिपिन रावत को परम विशिष्ट सेवा पदक (पीवीएसएम) से सम्मानित किया गया।
• राजपूत रेजीमेंट के सिपाही ब्रह्म पाल सिंह और केन्द्रीय रिजर्व पुलिस बल (सीआरपीएफ) के कांस्टेबल राजेंद्र कुमार नैन को मरणोपरांत कीर्ति चक्र प्रदान किये गये। सशस्त्र बलों के सर्वोच्च कमांडर राष्ट्रपति ने रवींद्र धनवडे को मरणोपरांत शौर्य चक्र से सम्मानित किया। उनके परिजनों ने राष्ट्रपति भवन में आयोजित एक समारोह में पुरस्कार ग्रहण किये। इन तीनों ने आतंक रोधी अभियानों में प्राणों का बलिदान दिया।
• रावत के अलावा, तीन सशस्त्र बलों के 14 वरिष्ठ अधिकारियों को परम विशिष्ट सेवा पदक से सम्मानित किया गया जिसमें सेना की पूर्वी कमान के प्रमुख लेफ्टिनेंट जनरल मनोज नरावणे, सैन्य बल चिकित्सा कोर के प्रमुख लेफ्टिनेंट जनरल बिपिन पुरी, पश्चिमी वायु कमान के एयर ऑफिसर कमांडिंग इन चीफ एयर मार्शल रघुनाथ नाम्बियार सहित अन्य शामिल हैं।
• ‘परम विशिष्ट सेवा पदक’ अत्यंत उत्कृष्ट सेवा के लिए अधिकारियों को दिया जाता है। लेफ्टिनेंट जनरल सरनजीत सिंह को ‘उत्तम युद्ध सेवा पदक’ से सम्मानित किया गया जबकि तीन सैन्य बलों के 25 शीर्ष अधिकारियों को ‘अति विशिष्ट सेवा पदक’ प्रदान किये गये।
तीन कीर्ति चक्र और 15 शौर्य चक्र राष्ट्रपति द्वारा सेना कार्मिक को प्रदान किए गए।
• राष्ट्रपति राम नाथ कोविंद ने राष्ट्रपति भवन, नई दिल्ली में रक्षा जांच समारोह में विशिष्ट वीरता, अदम्य साहस और कर्तव्य के प्रति समर्पण के लिए सशस्त्र सेना कार्मिकों को 3 कीर्ति चक्र और 15 शौर्य चक्र प्रदान किए। 2 कीर्ति चक्र और 1 शौर्य चक्र मरणोपरांत दिए गए। राष्ट्रपति द्वारा अपनी विशिष्ट सेवा के लिए 15 परम विशिष्ट सेवा पदक, 1 उत्तम युवा सेवा पदक और 25 अति विशिष्ट सेवा पदक भी सशस्त्र बलों के वरिष्ठ अधिकारियों को प्रदान किए गए।

यूएई में विशेष ओलंपिक्स वर्ल्ड गेम शुरू
• विशेष ओलंपिक विश्व खेल 2019, 14 से 21 मार्च तक अबू धाबी में आयोजित किया जाता है। खेल शेख मोहम्मद बिन जायद अल नाहयान, अबू धाबी के क्राउन प्रिंस द्वारा घोषित किए गए थे। इस वर्ष खेलों में भाग लेने वाले 190 देशों के 7,500 एथलीट हैं। टीम इंडिया मेजबान यूएई के बाद 387 खिलाड़ियों के साथ कोच और अन्य स्टाफ के साथ दूसरी सबसे बड़ी टीम है। विशेष ओलंपिक हर दो साल में होता है।
यूके ने पीएचडी लेवल के वर्क वीजा की सीमा खत्म की, भारतीयों को होगा फायदा
• यूके सरकार विदेशी पीएचडी डिग्रीधारकों को अपने यहां काम करने के लिए वीजा की संख्या की सीमा खत्म करने जा रही है। इससे बड़े पैमाने पर उच्च डिग्रीधारी भारतीय पेशेवरों को फायदा मिलेगा। यूके के चांसलर फिलिप हैमंड ने एक बजट अपडेट में ऐलान किया कि इसी वर्ष से उच्च शिक्षा आधारित नौकरियों के लिए ब्रिटेन में आने वाले लोगों की संख्या की सीमा नहीं रहेगी।
• यूके गवर्नमेंट ने PhD डिग्री वाले विदेशियों को वर्क वीजा की सीमा खत्म करने का फैसला किया।
यूके में उच्च शिक्षा आधारित नौकरियों के लिए जारी वीजा के बड़े हिस्से पर भारतीयों का कब्जा होता है।
• भारतीयों को हाई स्किल्ड जॉब्स के लिए यूके ने 2018 में 2017 के मुकाबले 6% ज्यादा वीजा दिए।
• यूके की सरकार 2021 तक देश में नया इमिग्रेशन सिस्टम लागू करना चाहती है।
वियना: लगातार 10 वें वर्ष रहने योग्य सबसे उपयुक्त शहर
• ऑस्ट्रियाई राजधानी वियना मर्सर सूचकांक में लगातार 10 वें वर्ष रहने हेतु सबसे उपयुक्त शहरों की सूची में शीर्ष पर है, जबकि सिडनी शीर्ष दस से बाहर हो गया।
• मध्यम आकार का, सुरक्षित और अपेक्षाकृत अधिक हरियाली कुछ ऐसी विशेषताएं हैं जो यह दूसरे स्थान के ज्यूरिख के साथ साझा हैं।
