INTERNATIONAL:

Cholera vaccinations launched in post-cyclone Mozambique.

• In Mozambique, a vaccination campaign launched after Cyclone Idai battered the nation and unleashed an outbreak of cholera.

• International relief agencies and the Health Ministry are aiming to immunise nearly 9,00,000 people against the water-borne intestinal disease, which has already killed two people and infected more than 1,400.

• The vaccinations will be administered at health centres, shelters for the displaced, and at schools and markets. Cyclone Idai smashed into the coast of central Mozambique last month, unleashing hurricane-force winds and rains that flooded the hinterland and drenched eastern Zimbabwe.

Brunei passed harsh new sharia laws.

• Brunei introduced harsh new sharia laws, including death by stoning for adultery and gay sex.

• The law was passed despite a storm of global criticism from politicians, celebrities and rights groups.

• The tough penal code in the country fully came into force following years of delays. The laws make Brunei the first place in East or Southeast Asia to have a sharia penal code at the national level, joining several mostly West Asian countries such as Saudi Arabia.

APPOINTMENTS AND RESIGNATIONS:

Chicago elected Lori a black woman as its Mayor.

• Chicago elected Ms.Lori Lightfoot, 56, a black woman as its Mayor. The voters have put their faith in an openly-gay political novice to tackle difficult problems of economic inequality and gun violence.

• Since 1837, Chicago voters have elected only one black Mayor and one woman Mayor. Ms. Lightfoot will become Chicago’s first openly gay Mayor as well as the first African-American woman to hold the post.

• Lori Lightfoot a former federal prosecutor and practicing lawyer beat out Toni Preckwinkle, a career politician who is also black, by a wide margin of 74% to 26% with most ballots counted. She has promised to clean up city government and reduce economic inequality.

Algeria's president Abdelaziz Bouteflika resigns after 20 years in power.

• Algeria‘s long-serving president Abdelaziz Bouteflika announced his resignation, after mass protests demanding an end to his rule, and after a call from the army for him to be declared unfit to hold office. Bouteflika came to the presidency after its darkest period, the 1990s Islamic insurgency.

• . After taking power in 1999, he managed to bring back stability to a country devastated by killings and distrust. Mr Bouteflika has not publicly spoken and has been wheelchair-bound since a stroke in 2013. Bouteflika is accused of failing to create an economy that could offer enough jobs, despite the nation's vast oil and gas wealth. Abdelkader Bensalah took charge as interim leader for a maximum of 90 days as elections are organised.

NATIONAL:

Two new birds spotted in Kerala Aralam sanctuary.

• The 19th edition of the bird survey in Aralam Wildlife Sanctuary spotted two new species of birds - Woolly-necked Stork (Karuvarakkuru) and White-bellied Drongo (Kakkarajan) - both dry land species. A total of 152 species were spotted in the three-day survey.

Tata Projects bagged USD321 mn worth project from NPCIL.

• Tata Projects has received an order from the Nuclear Power Corporation of India (NPCIL) for the construction of 2 x 700 MW power plant. The estimated cost is about $321 million.

• This is the firm’s third contract in the nuclear power sector. This project will provide the much needed power supply to the region and ensure developmental initiatives receive an impetus. The scope of work involves the construction of main plant buildings, structures and other works of Gorakhpur Haryana Anu Vidyut Pariyojana - 1&2.

IFINs GNPAs touched 90 percent says IL&FS.

• IL&FS Financial Services Ltd. (IFIN), the non-banking finance arm of infrastructure conglomerate IL&FS, reported an increased gross non-performing asset (NPA) ratio of 90% as at end December 2018 against the gross NPAs of 5% in March 2018. The new management completed six months.

• It is unusual for any lender to report 90% gross NPAs and it is probably for the first time, in recent times, that a lender had reported such delinquency. IFIN’s total exposure as on March 31, 2019 was Rs.18,805 crore, of which external exposure was Rs.10,656 crore and exposure to the group, Rs. 6,949 crore. About Rs.1,300 crore is categorised as other assets.

US approved to sell 24 'Romeo' Seahawk helicopters to India for USD 2.4 billion

• The US has approved the sale of 24 multi-role MH-60 'Romeo' Seahawk helicopters to India at an estimated cost of $2.6 billion. The Lockheed Martin-built helicopters are designed for hunting submarines, targeting ships, and conducting search-and-rescue operations at sea. It is considered the world's most advanced maritime helicopter.

• The helicopters are currently deployed with the US Navy. These helicopters would replenish India's aging fleet of British-made Sea King helicopters.

Indian Army builds longest suspension bridge 'Maitri on Indus in record 40 days

• Indian Army's Combat Engineers of 'Sahas aur Yogyata' Regiment of 'Fire and Fury Corps' have built the longest cable suspension bridge named 'Maitri’ over Indus river in Leh in a record 40 days. The 260-foot-long bridge is dedicated to Indians to commemorate 20th year of Kargil Vijay Diwas.

• The central government had emphasised on building an all-weather road connectivity in the region. An all-weather road was built from Manali to Ladakh via Zanskar in Kargil last year. Similarly, the work for the Zojila tunnel, which is Asia's longest, has also been started. These projects were part of the Rs 25,000 crore projects allocated by the Centre for the state of Jammu and Kashmir.

BANKS AND ECONOMICS:

RBI reduced repo rate for second consecutive time by 25 bps to 6 percent.

• The RBI cut its repo rate by 25 basis points to 6% in its first bi-monthly policy review of 2019-20. The decision comes a week before the election starts on April 11. The central bank had reduced the benchmark lending rate by 25 basis points in February after an 18-month gap.

• The reverse repo rate, too, was lowered from 6% to 5.75%. The bank rate was fixed at 6.25%. What is Repo rate? Repo rate refers to the rate at which commercial banks borrow money from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) in case of shortage of funds.

• Repo rate is short form of Repurchase Rate. What is reverse repo rate? The reverse repo rate is the rate at which the central bank borrows money from commercial banks, to control the money supply in the country.

One97 Communications-owned Paytm Money Gets SEBI Approval for Stock Broking.

• One97 Communications-owned Paytm Money, the wealth management arm of Paytm got approval from the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) to start offering a stock broking service such as the ability to trade in equities and cash segments, derivatives, and exchange-traded funds (ETFs) among other exchange-traded products.

RBI sets limits for Ways and Means Advances.

• The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) in consultation with the government of India has set the limits for Ways and Means Advances (WMA) for the first half of the financial year 2019-20 (April 2019 to September 2019) at Rs.75000 crore. Ways and Means Advances (WMA)

♦ WMA is the temporary loan facility provided by the RBI to the Centre and State governments

♦ The WMA scheme was introduced in 1997 to meet any temporary mismatches in the receipts and payments of the government

♦ The WMA needs to be vacated after 90 days

♦ The interest rate for WMA is currently charged at the repo rate that is, 6.25%

♦ The limits for WMA are decided by the RBI and in consultation with the Government of India RBI's Policy rates and Reserve ratios:

♦ Bank Rate: 6.50%

♦ Repo Rate: 6.00%

♦ Reverse Repo Rate: 6.00%

UN observes International Day for Mine Awareness on 4th April.

• On 8 December 2005, the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) declared that 4 April of each year shall be observed as the International Day for Mine Awareness and Assistance in Mine Action.

• The theme for 2019 is "United Nations Promotes SDGs – Safe Ground – Safe Home". United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS) has been working to:

♦ meet the needs of the affected people and tailored to the threat of explosive hazards faced by civilians, peacekeepers, and humanitarians

♦ save lives

♦ facilitate deployment of UN missions and the delivery of humanitarian assistance

♦ protect civilians

♦ support the voluntary return of the internally displaced and refugees

♦ enable humanitarian and recovery activities.

चक्रवात प्रभावित मोजाम्बिक में हैजा फैला,1000 मामले सामने आए

• मोजाम्बिक के चक्रवात प्रभावित इलाकों में कम से कम 1,052 लोग हैजे से पीड़ित हैं। पिछले चार दिनों में यह संक्रमण तेजी से फैला है। स्वास्थ्य मंत्रालय ने मंगलवार को अपनी एक नयी रिपोर्ट में यह जानकारी दी। चार दिन पहले हैजे के सिर्फ 139 मामले थे। मंत्रालय की रिपोर्ट के अनुसार पिछले एक सप्ताह से सैकडों लोग हैजे से पीड़ित हैं, इससे अभी तक सिर्फ एक व्यक्ति की मौत हुई है। अधिकारी तथा सहायताकर्मी महामारी को फैलने से रोकने के लिए बुधवार को टीकाकरण अभियान शुरू करने जा रहे हैं।

• विश्व स्वास्थ्य संगठन (डब्ल्यूएचओ) के अनुसार हैजा प्रभावित बेइरा शहर में मंगलवार को हैजे की कम से कम 900,000 डोज ओरल वैक्सीन पहुंचने की संभावना है। एक वरिष्ठ स्वास्थ अधिकारी यूसीन इस्से ने बताया कि बेइरा में हैजे का टीकाकरण बुधवार से शुरू होगा। हैजे के कुल 1052 मामलों में सर्वाधिक मामले 959 इसी शहर में सामने आए हैं।

• ब्रुनेई ने कठोर नए शरिया कानूनों को पेश किया, जिसमें व्यभिचार और समलैंगिक यौन संबंध के लिए पत्थरबाजी से मौत भी शामिल है। राजनेताओं, मशहूर हस्तियों और अधिकार समूहों की वैश्विक आलोचना के बावजूद कानून पारित किया गया। देश में कठिन दंड संहिता पूरी तरह से देरी के वर्षों के बाद लागू हुई।कानून ब्रुनेई को पूर्वी या दक्षिण पूर्व एशिया में पहला स्थान बनाते हैं।

• अमेरिका के तीसरे बड़े महानगर शिकागो में निर्धन और राजनीतिक पचड़ों से दूर पेशे से वक़ील 56 वर्षीय गे लॉरी लाइटफ़ुट ने पहली बार मेयर के चुनाव में बाज़ी मारकर इतिहास रच दिया। डेमोक्रेटिक पार्टी बहुल शिकागो की 32 लाख लोगों ने यह सोचा भी नहीं होगा कि पिछली मई में किसी राजनैतिक चुनाव अभियान में शरीक लारी लाइटफ़ुट ने एक मंजी हुई अश्वेत डेमोक्रेट टोनी परिंकलेट को सभी 50 वार्डों में एकतरफ़ा जीत से परास्त किया।

• टोनी को मात्र 26 फीसदी मत मिले। लॉरी 20 मई को 56वें मेयर के रूप में शपथ लेंगी। इससे पूर्व रहम एमेनुएल दो बार मेयर पद पर रह चुके हैं। डेमोक्रेट टोनी परिकलेंट अपने 28 वर्षों के राजनैतिक जीवन में अनेक पदों पर रह चुकी थी। असल में शिकागो की जनता राजनैतिक प्रपंचों से तंग आ चुकी थी।

अल्जीरिया के राष्ट्रपति अब्देलअज़ीज़ बुउटफ्लिका ने सत्ता में 20 साल रहने के बाद इस्तीफा दिया:

• 82 वर्षीय अल्जीरियाई राष्ट्रपति अब्देलअज़ीज़ बुउटफ्लिका जो पिछले 20 वर्षों से (1999 से) सत्ता में थे, उन्होंने लंबे हफ्तों के सामूहिक विरोध के बाद इस्तीफा दे दिया।

अमेरिका ने भारत को 24 सीहॉक हेलिकॉप्टर बेचने को मंजूरी दी, पनडुब्बी नष्ट करने में कारगर

• अमेरिका ने भारत को 24 एमएच-60आर रोमियो सीहॉक हेलिकॉप्टरों को बेचे जाने को मंजूरी दे दी है। अमेरिकी विदेश मंत्रालय के मुताबिक- भारत को ये हेलिकॉप्टर 2.4 अरब डॉलर (करीब 16 हजार करोड़ रुपए) में बेचे जाएंगे। हेलिकॉप्टर दुश्मन की पनडुब्बियों को नष्ट करने के अलावा जहाजों को खदेड़ने और समुद्र में सर्च-बचाव अभियान में कारगर साबित होंगे।

• रोमियो सीहॉक हेलिकॉप्टरों को लॉकहीड-मार्टिन कंपनी ने बनाया है। ये ब्रिटिश सी किंग हेलिकॉप्टरों की जगह लेंगे। मंगलवार को ट्रम्प प्रशासन ने भारत को 24 हेलिकॉप्टर बेचे जाने का नोटिफिकेशन जारी किया।

• नोटिफिकेशन के मुताबिक- हेलिकॉप्टरों की प्रस्तावित बिक्री से भारत और अमेरिका के रणनीतिक रिश्ते मजबूत होंगे। भारत, अमेरिका का बड़ा डिफेंस पार्टनर है। डील से इंडो-पैसिफिक और दक्षिण एशिया में स्थायित्व-शांति बनाए रखने में मदद मिलेगी। वहीं, रोमियो हेलिकॉप्टरों से भारतीय फौजों की एंटी-सरफेस (जमीन) और एंटी-सबमरीन सुरक्षा क्षमता में इजाफा होगा।

लद्दाख में सेना ने 40 दिन में सिंधु नदी पर बनाया 260 फीट का सस्पेंशन पुल, मैत्री ब्रिज दिया नाम

• जम्मू-कश्मीर के लेह-लद्दाख में सेना और स्थानीय लोगों का समन्वय कुछ इस तरह है कि सेना ने लोगों की बड़ी समस्या का हल कर दिया। लद्दाख की सुरक्षा का जिम्मा संभाल रही सेना की उत्तरी कमान की फायर एंड फ्यूरी कोर के कांबेट इंजीनियर्स ने सिंधु नदी पर 40 दिन में 260 फुट लंबा लोहे से बना केबल सस्पेंशन पुल बनाया है। इस पुल को 'मैत्री ब्रिज' नाम दिया गया है।

RBI ने रेपो रेट में की .25 प्रतिशत की कमी, होम लोन होगा सस्ता

• रिजर्व बैंक ने मुद्रास्फीति में आयी नरमी को देखते हुये वृहस्पतिवार को लगातार दूसरी बार नीतिगत ब्याज दर में 0.25 प्रतिशत की कटौती की है. इससे रेपो दर अब पिछले एक साल के निचले स्तर पर आ गयी है. हालांकि, रिजर्व बैंक ने मौद्रिक नीति के रुख को तटस्थ बनाये रखा है. गवर्नर शक्तिकांत दास की अध्यक्षता में मौद्रिक नीति समिति की पिछले दो दिन से चल रही बैठक के बाद वृहस्पतिवार को छह में से चार सदस्यों ने रेपो दर में कटौती का पक्ष लिया।

• हालांकि, दो सदस्यों ने दर को यथावत रखने का समर्थन किया. मुख्य ब्याज दर 0.25 प्रतिशत घटाने के बाद छह प्रतिशत पर आ गयी है। इससे बैंकों की रिजर्व बैंक से धन लेने की लागत कम होगी और उम्मीद है कि बैंक इस सस्ती लागत का लाभ आगे अपने ग्राहकों तक भी पहुंचायेंगे।

वन97 कम्युनिकेशंस के स्वामित्व वाली पेटीएम मनी को स्टॉक ब्रोकिंग के लिए सेबी की मंजूरी मिली:

• 2 अप्रैल 2019 को, वन97 कम्युनिकेशंस के स्वामित्व वाली पेटीएम मनी, पेटीएम की धन प्रबंधन शाखा, को भारतीय प्रतिभूति और विनिमय बोर्ड (सेबी) से एक स्टॉक ब्रोकिंग सेवा की पेशकश शुरू करने के लिए मंजूरी मिल गई है जैसे इक्विटी और नकद में व्यापार करने की क्षमता और अन्य एक्सचेंज-ट्रेडेड उत्पादों के बीच सेगमेंट, डेरिवेटिव्स और एक्सचेंज-ट्रेडेड फंड्स आदि।

• सेबी की इस मंजूरी के अलावा, पेटीएम मनी को भी पेटीएम मनी ऐप के माध्यम से शेयर खरीदने के लिए बॉम्बे स्टॉक एक्सचेंज (बीएसई) और नेशनल स्टॉक एक्सचेंज (एनएसई) से इसकी सदस्यता के लिए मंजूरी मिल गई।

• इस ऐप का एक पूर्ण स्टैक धन प्रबंधन मंच बनने का लक्ष्य इस अनुमोदन के साथ पूरा होने जा रहा है।

• बेंगलुरु स्थित पेटीएम मनी को 2018 में म्यूचुअल फंड प्लेटफॉर्म के रूप में लॉन्च किया गया था।

भारतीय रिज़र्व बैंक ने तरीकों और साधनों के लिए अग्रिम सीमा निर्धारित की-

• भारतीय रिज़र्व बैंक (आर बी आई) ने भारत सरकार के परामर्श से वित्तीय वर्ष 2019-20 (अप्रैल 2019 से सितंबर 2019) की पहली छमाही के लिए तरीके और साधन अग्रिम (डब्ल्यू एम ए/WMA) की सीमा रु .75000 करोड़ निर्धारित की है ।तरीके और साधन अग्रिम (डब्ल्यू एम ए/WMA): WMA(डब्ल्यू एम ए) केंद्र और राज्य सरकारों को RBI द्वारा प्रदान की गई अस्थायी ऋण सुविधा हैडब्ल्यू एम ए योजना 1997 में सरकार की प्राप्तियों और भुगतान में किसी भी अस्थायी बेमेल को पूरा करने के लिए शुरू की गई थी।डब्ल्यू एम ए/WMA को 90 दिनों के बाद खाली करने की आवश्यकता हैlडब्ल्यू एम ए के लिए ब्याज दर वर्तमान में रेपो दर पर 6.25% है। डब्ल्यू एम ए की सीमाएँ आर बी आई द्वारा और भारत सरकार के परामर्श से तय की जाती हैं।

Boeing unveils changes to MCAS, anti stall system.

Embattled aviation giant Boeing pledged to do all it can to prevent crashes like two that killed nearly 350 people in recent months, as it unveiled a fix to the flight software of its grounded 737 MAX aircraft. Boeing gathered hundreds of pilots and reporters to unveil the changes to the Manoeuvring Characteristics Augmentation System (MCAS). Boeing unveiled the software changes at the company’s massive factory in Renton, Washington, and offered reassurances.

NATIONAL:

Vijayawada Railway Station awarded the Gold Rating for being Clean & Eco-Friendly.

• Vijayawada railway station, one of the busiest railway junctions in India, has received Gold Rating by the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) for Green Measures. The IGBC-CII, with the support of the Environment Directorate of Indian Railways, developed the Green Railway Stations Rating System to facilitate adoption of green concepts, thereby reduce the adverse environmental impact due to station operation and maintenance and also enhance the overall commuter experience.

• The Vijayawada station has installed 100 per cent LED lighting, the fans are five-star rated, and solar power is already being used for water heating systems.

Kolkata Dhaka ship to set sail for the first time ever.

• A regular river cruise will start between Kolkata, India and Dhaka, Bangladesh for the first time in the history of the two countries.

• The Indian ship, R V Bengal Ganga, will start its journey from a west Kolkata jetty. About 60 persons will be travelling

• The return journey will take nearly two weeks from Kolkata and the ship will pass through Sunderbans on both sides of the marine border. Another ship will simultaneously start from Bangladesh, traverse the same route and reach Kolkata, taking approximately the same time. The border formalities will be completed at Sunderbans on the Indian side.

Singapore airport named worlds best aviation hub for the seventh time.

• According to the Skytrax World Airport Awards, Singapore's Changi Airport has been crowned the world's best aviation hub for the seventh time in a row, while New Delhi's Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport featured at number 59.

• Singapore Changi Airport is known for its rooftop swimming pool, two 24-hour movie theaters and shopping spots

• At number two on the list is Tokyo International Airport (Haneda), up one place from 2018. This hub also won World's Best Domestic Airport and World's Cleanest Airport. Incheon International Airport secured 3rd position in the list. • Vice Admiral MA Hampiholi, AVSM NM has been appointed as Director General Naval Operations (DGNO). He will succeed Satish Namdeo Ghormade. He was commissioned in the Executive Branch of the Indian Navy on 1st July 1985.

• he Flag Officer has experience as Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) specialist officer at onboard INShips Himgiri, Agray,and Ganga. He has experience as a Commanding officer in INS Nashak (missile vessel), INS Magar {Landing Ship Tank (Large)} and INS Talwar (stealth Frigate), Second-in-Command of INS Khukri (Missile Corvette).

Manohar Ajgaonkar, Vijai Sardesai designated as Goas Deputy Chief Ministers.

• Goa’s Tourism Minister Manohar Ajgaonkar has been appointed as the Deputy Chief Minister of Goa. He switched to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) from Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party, on March 27, 2019. At present he is the second deputy chief minister along with Goa Forward Party (GFP) leader and state minister Vijai Sardesai. Both will succeed Sudin Dhavalikar.

RBI to issue Regulatory sandbox.

• The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is set to issue guidelines within two months for the fintech companies to test their new products on a small group of users before scaling up. A Sandbox is a framework set up by a regulator that allows FinTech start-ups to conduct live experiments in a controlled environment under supervision.

• Regulatory sandbox will provide a well-defined space for the companies to develop new products. It allows for experimenting with their products and fintech solutions. In case of failure, the consequences would be contained and the reasons will be analysed for betterment.

Deposits ordinance does not cover gold schemes.

• The Centre’s recent ordinance banning unregulated monthly deposit schemes will not affect the ongoing monthly schemes operated by jewellery and chit fund firms.

• Called the ‘Banning of Unregulated Deposit Scheme Ordinance’, it was promulgated by President Ram Nath Kovind during the last week of February 2019 to save gullible investors from losing money to Ponzi and fake deposit schemes.

• The ordinance makes such unregulated deposit schemes punishable, among other things. Ordinance: Ordinances are laws that are promulgated by the President of India on the recommendation of the Union Cabinet. They can only be issued when Parliament is not in session.

• They enable the Indian government to take immediate legislative action. Ordinances cease to operate either if Parliament does not approve of them within six weeks of reassembly, or if disapproving resolutions are passed by both Houses. It is also compulsory for a session of Parliament to be held within six months.

Four sports including Breakdancing get provisional green light for Paris Olympics 2024

• Breakdancing was among four sports given a provisional green light for inclusion in the Paris 2024 Games by the International Olympic Committee (IOC). The three other sports namely - Surfing, Skateboarding and sport climbing also got approval for provisional inclusion in Summer Olympics 2024 from IOC.

• हालिया दुर्घटनाओं को लेकर विवादों में घिरी विमान विनिर्माता कंपनी बोइंग ने तकनीकी खामी का समाधान तैयार कर लिया है। सूत्रों ने शनिवार को इसकी जानकारी दी, इथियोपियन एयरलाइंस का एक विमान इस महीने उड़ान के दौरान दुर्घटनाग्रस्त हो गया था। इससे पहले पिछले साल अक्टूबर में इंडोनेशिया के लायन एयर का एक विमान भी उड़ान के दौरान दुर्घटनाग्रस्त हो गया था. इन दोनों दुर्घटनाओं में 346 लोगों की मौत हुई थी।

विजयवाड़ा रेलवे स्टेशन को मिली स्वर्ण रेटिंग

• देश के सबसे व्यस्त रेलवे जंक्शनों में से एक विजयवाड़ा रेलवे स्टेशन को भारतीय हरित भवन परिषद ने स्वर्ण रेटिंग दी है।

• परिषद के अध्यक्ष मीका विजया साई ने 25 मार्च 2019 को मंडल रेल प्रबंधक आर धनंजयुलु को स्वर्ण रेटिंग शील्ड प्रदान की।

• स्टेशन में 100% एलईडी लाइटिंग, फाइव स्टार अंकित पंखे, पंप व मोटर, और सौर जल तापन प्रणाली हैं।

कोलकाता-ढाका: जहाज पहली बार स्थापित

• दोनों देशों के इतिहास में पहली बार कोलकाता, भारत और ढाका, बांग्लादेश के बीच एक नियमित नदी क्रूज शुरू होगा।

• भारतीय जहाज, आर वी बंगाल गंगा, एक पश्चिम कोलकाता जेटी से अपनी यात्रा शुरू करेगा। इसमें लगभग 60 व्यक्ति यात्रा करेंगे।

• वापसी की यात्रा में कोलकाता से लगभग दो सप्ताह लगेंगे और जहाज समुद्री सीमा के दोनों ओर सुंदरबन से होकर गुजरेगा। एक और जहाज एक साथ बांग्लादेश से शुरू होगा, एक ही मार्ग को पार करेगा और लगभग एक ही समय लेकर कोलकाता पहुंचेगा। भारतीय सीमा पर सुंदरबन में सीमा औपचारिकताएं पूरी की जाएंगी।

डिजिटल भुगतान बढ़ाने को नियम बनाएगा आरबीआई : शक्तिकांत दास

• डिजिटल भुगतान को बढ़ाने देने के लिए आरबीआई वित्तीय प्रौद्योगिकी कंपनियों (फिनटेक) का सहयोग लेगा। इसके लिए सूचना तकनीक क्षेत्र के महारथी नंदन नीलेकणी की अध्यक्षता में पांच सदस्यीय कमेटी गठित की गई है, जो अगले तीन महीने में आरबीआई को रिपोर्ट सौंपेगी। आरबीआई गवर्नर शक्तिकांत दास ने सोमवार को नीति आयोग द्वारा आयोजित ‘फिनटेक सम्मेलन’ में बताया कि फिनटेक के जरिए डिजिटल भुगतान को और बेहतर करने एवं वित्तीय समावेशन को बढ़ाने के लिए कदम उठाये जा चुके हैं।

जमा अध्यादेश स्वर्ण योजनाओं को कवर नहीं करता

• केंद्र द्वारा हाल ही में अनियमित मासिक जमा योजनाओं पर प्रतिबंध लगाने वाले अध्यादेश से आभूषण और चिट फंड फर्मों द्वारा संचालित चल रही मासिक योजनाएं प्रभावित नहीं होंगी।

• अनधिकृत जमा योजना अध्यादेश के प्रतिबंध ’को कहा गया था, यह राष्ट्रपति राम नाथ कोविंद द्वारा फरवरी 2019 के अंतिम सप्ताह के दौरान निवेशकों को पूंजी और नकली जमा योजनाओं से पैसा खोने से बचाने के लिए प्रख्यापित किया गया था।

• अध्यादेश ऐसी अनियमित जमा योजनाओं को अन्य बातों के अलावा दंडनीय बनाता है। अध्यादेश: अध्यादेश ऐसे कानून हैं जो केंद्रीय मंत्रिमंडल की सिफारिश पर भारत के राष्ट्रपति द्वारा प्रख्यापित किए जाते हैं। उन्हें केवल तभी जारी किया जा सकता है जब संसद सत्र में नहीं हो।

• वे भारत सरकार को तत्काल विधायी कार्रवाई करने में सक्षम बनाते हैं। अध्यादेश या तो संसद को चलाने के लिए बंद हो जाते हैं, यदि संसद उन्हें छः सप्ताह के भीतर आश्वस्त नहीं करती है, या यदि अस्वीकृत प्रस्तावों को दोनों सदनों द्वारा पारित किया जाता है। छह महीने के भीतर संसद का सत्र आयोजित किया जाना भी अनिवार्य है।

ब्रेकडांसिंग सहित चार खेलों को पेरिस ओलंपिक 2024 के लिए मंजूरी मिल गई:

• 26 मार्च 2019 को अंतर्राष्ट्रीय ओलंपिक समिति (आईऔसी) ने पेरिस ओलंपिक 2024 में ब्रेकडांसिंग को शामिल करने के लिए अनंतिम हरी बत्ती दी। सर्फिंग, स्केटबोर्डिंग और स्पोर्ट क्लाइम्बिंग को भी आईऔसी से समर ओलंपिक 2024 में अनंतिम समावेश के लिए मंजूरी मिल गई।

Demat share transfer to be effective from 1st April.

• Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) said that the transfer of shares of listed companies can be done only in dematerialised form from April 1 but investors are not barred from holding shares in the physical form.

• In December 2018, the capital markets watchdog extended the deadline for transfer of shares of listed companies only in dematerialised (demat) form to April 1.

• Now, it has been decided not to extend the deadline. The decision that the transfer of shares has to be compulsorily in demat form was taken way back in March 2018. SEBI also said that the measure would come into effect from April 1, 2019.

Bank of Baroda to launch Baroda Kisan.

• Public sector Bank, Bank of Baroda has made an announcement about developing an agri-digital platform called 'Baroda Kisan'. The platform is to provide solutions for all major agricultural requirements. The project aims to provide a holistic approach towards solving agricultural plights by means of providing reliable and customised information, inputs for use, the convenience of renting farm equipment and market linkage for sale of agri-produces. Bank of Baroda has signed a memorandum of understanding (Mou) with Six companies viz.

• Skymet Weather Services, Weather Risk Management Services, BigHaat, Agrostar India, EM3 Agri Services and Poorti Agri Services for the project. The agri-digital platform will be executed by IT Centre of Excellence (ITCoE) of Bank of Baroda in partnership with IBM India. Baroda Kisan is aimed at digitization of digital services.

NATIONAL:

Assam launched initiatives to educate voter.

• Assam State government has launched initiatives to educate voters. Folk song competitions, quiz programmes and appeals by celebrities are some of the initiatives being undertaken by the election office in Assam for attracting women, first-time voters, people with physical disabilities and senior citizens to cast their votes.

• Sprinter Hima Das, Whitley Awardee and environmentalist Purnima Devi Barman, singer Tarali Sarma, body builder Golap Rabha and actor Kopil Bora have been roped in as State icons to create awareness about the election process.

• District election officers have been directed to reach out to the maximum number of voters in the constituencies under their jurisdiction. Polling stations with low female voter turn-out have been identified and ‘mahila voter rallies’ are being held.

Cabinet approved additional posts for NCLAT.

• Cabinet approved a proposal of six additional posts of judicial and technical members in the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT). The tribunal hears appeals against rulings of the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT). The Cabinet cleared a proposal for the creation of three additional posts each for judicial members and technical members in the NCLAT. The new posts would ensure meeting the mandate provided to NCLAT by the Finance Act, 2017, the Companies Act, the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016 and the time frame provided for disposal of cases.

Gujarat ATS and Indian Coast Guard capture 9 international smugglers with heroin worth Rs 500 crore

• The Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad and the Indian Coast Guard captured nine international drug smugglers. The smugglers were reportedly carrying 100 kgs of contraband worth Rs 500 crore in the boat, which they had destroyed after they were trapped by the agencies. As per the press statement, the Gujarat ATS had received a tip-off that an illegal consignment of narcotic drugs, Heroin, is going to be smuggled in Gujarat through Coast.

• Delhi world’s 12th busiest hub, the Indira Gandhi International Airport, transiting between the various terminals of IGI Airport, will become a breeze in a few years’ time, with the airport operator finalizing the route of an “air train” connecting the terminals as well as Aerocity, the hotel center.

• It connects the Aerocity’s Airport Metro Express station to all the major Hotels and Offices with Aerocity's Hospitality District through an experiential walkway. It not only connects all the buildings but also provides a well-designed public space for everyone to enjoy. It promotes an active lifestyle and enables access to open spaces, shaded areas for casual breakouts and many other amenities.

MPI 2018 report says Indias povert rate has reduced drastically.

• According to the Multi-dimensional Poverty Index 2018 report, the four poorest states namely Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh were still home to 196 million MPI poor people, which was over half of all the MPI poor people in India.

• The Multi-dimensional Poverty Index 2018 report prepared by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative makes the following observations about India:

• India has reduced its poverty rate drastically from 55% to 28% in 10 years, with 271 million people moving out of poverty between 2005-06 and 2015-16. Jharkhand had shown the greatest improvement, followed by Arunachal Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, and Nagaland. Kerala, one of the least poor regions in 2006, reduced its MPI by around 92%.

• The Tashigang polling station in Himachal Pradesh falls in Buddhist-dominated Lahaul-Spiti, one of the 17 assembly segments that form the Mandi Lok Sabha seat, the second largest constituency in India.

• Situated at about 29 km from the India-China border, the polling station covers two villages— Tashigang and Gete.

• As per the revised electoral rolls, the two villages have 48 voters, of which 30 are men and 18 women. Earlier the tiny settlement of Hikkim in the same district located at an altitude of about 14,400 feet was the highest polling station in the country.

Vedanta Limited has discovered oil in the Krishna Godavari basin.

• Anil Agarwal-led Vedanta Limited has discovered oil in the Krishna Godavari basin on India’s east coast. The company has notified the management committee, Directorate General of Hydrocarbons and Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas of an oil discovery in the second exploratory well H2, located in block KG-OSN-2009/3, Krishna-Godavari Basin, east coast of India.

Adani becomes first Indian port operator to record 200 million tonnes cargo movement in 2018-19

• Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ) has claimed that its portfolio of nine ports and terminals handled 200 million metric tonnes (MMT) of cargo in 2018-19, becoming the first Indian port operator to achieve the milestone. The Gautam Adani-led company doubled its cargo handling from 100 MMT reached in 2013-14

India becomes the 4th country to test Anti-satellite missile system, codenamed Mission Shakti successfully.

• India successfully completed 'Mission Shakti' operation where it destroyed a live satellite on a low earth orbit (LEO) using an Anti-Satellite (ASAT) missile in three minutes. India has become the 4th country after the US, Russia and China in the world to achieve this historic feat.

• Anti Satellite weapons also called the ASAT are developed to destroy satellites. Mission Shakti is a joint programme of DRDO and the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). Mission Shakti will help the country in standing strong and secure. It will further protect the nation from disharmony and bring peace.

India, US Ink Pact To Check Tax Evasion By MNCs.

• India and the US signed an agreement for the exchange of country-by-country (CBC) report. The move will give huge relief to subsidiaries of US-headquartered companies in the taxation-related matter. The agreement was signed by PC Mody, Chairman, Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), and Kenneth I Juster, US Ambassador to India.

Maruti Suzuki board re-appointed Kenichi Ayukawa as MD and CEO for 3 years.

• This would be Kenichi Ayukawa's third three-year term as MD and CEO of Maruti. He first took over as MD and CEO of the company in March 2013 as Shinzo Nakanishi had attained the age of retirement. He played a major role in expanding the company's market share beyond 50 per cent.

Azali Assoumani re-elected as the President of Comoros.

• Azali Assoumani was re-elected as the President of Comoros after defeating his closest rival, Mahamadou Ahamada in the election held by the electoral commission of the Indian Ocean Archipelago. 66 years old, Azali Assoumani who first took office in 2016, was credited with 60.77 percent votes whereas Mahamadou Ahamada got only 14.62 percent votes.

• Indian shooting stars Manu Bhaker and Saurabh Chaudhary smashed the qualification world record before clinching the 10m air pistol mixed team gold in the 12th Asian Airgun Championship in Taoyuan, Taipei. The Indians then went on to win the five-team final with a score of 484.8.

• Hwang Seongeun and Kim Mose of Korea won the silver with a score of 481.1 while Wu Chia Ying and Kou Kuan-Ting claimed the bronze for the host country with a score of 413.3. This win comes a month after they won the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup stage gold in the same event in Delhi.

1 अप्रैल से शेयर बाजार में बड़ा बदलाव, डीमैट फॉर्म से होगी शेयरों की खरीद-बिक्री

• भारतीय प्रतिभूति एवं विनमय बोर्ड (सेबी) की ओर से कहा गया, ''निवेशकों के अपने पास शेयरों को फिजिकल रखने पर पाबंदी नहीं होगी. हालांकि, अगर कोई निवेशक फिजिकल रखे शेयरों को ट्रांसफर करना चाहता है तो 1 अप्रैल 2019 के बाद ऐसा शेयरों के डीमैट रूप में होने के बाद ही किया जा सकेगा।

• बता दें कि शेयरों को अनिवार्य रूप से डीमैट या इलेक्‍ट्रॉनिक रूप में ट्रांसफर का निर्णय मार्च 2018 में किया गया था. सेबी ने दिसंबर 2018 में इलेक्‍ट्रॉनिक शेयर ट्रांसफर की समयसीमा बढ़ाकर 1 अप्रैल कर दी थी. अब सेबी ने इस समयसीमा को आगे नहीं बढ़ाने का निर्णय किया गया है. यानि यह नियम 1 अप्रैल 2019 से लागू होगा। सेबी का कहना है कि डीमैट फॉर्म में शेयरों की खरीद-बिक्री से कंपनियों की शेयरहोल्डिंग का रिकॉर्ड पारदर्शी होगा।. इसके अलावा कंपनियों के स्वामित्व को लेकर विवाद में कमी आएगी।

अनिल अग्रवाल के नेतृत्व वाली वेदांत लिमिटेड ने भारत के पूर्वी तट पर कृष्णा गोदावरी बेसिन में तेल की खोज की है। कंपनी ने भारत के पूर्वी तट केजी-ओएसएन -2009 / 3, कृष्णा-गोदावरी बेसिन में स्थित दूसरे खोजपूर्ण कुएं एच 2 में एक खोज के प्रबंधन समिति, हाइड्रोकार्बन महानिदेशालय और पेट्रोलियम और प्राकृतिक गैस मंत्रालय को सूचित किया है। । वेदांता लिमिटेड ब्लॉक में 100% भाग लेता है। पहली खोज कुंआ, A3-2, ब्लॉक में ड्रिल की गई गैस की खोज थी।

मंत्रिमंडल ने एनसीएलएटी में छह अतिरिक्त पद सृजित करने को मंजूरी दी

• राष्ट्रीय कंपनी विधि अपीलीय न्यायाधिकरण (एनसीएलएटी) में न्यायिक और तकनीकी सदस्यों के छह और पद सृजित किए जाएंगे। केंद्रीय मंत्रिमंडल ने बुधवार को इस संबंध में एक प्रस्ताव को मंजूरी दे दी। एनसीएलएटी , राष्ट्रीय कंपनी विधि न्यायाधिकरण (एनसीएलटी) के फैसलों के खिलाफ की गई अपील की सुनवाई करता है। एक आधिकारिक विज्ञप्ति के मुताबिक , केंद्रीय मंत्रिमंडल ने एनसीएलएटी में तीन न्यायिक सदस्यों और तीन तकनीकी सदस्यों के अतिरिक्त पद सृजित करने को मंजूरी दे दी है। इसमें कहा गया है कि ये पद लेवल 17वें स्तर पर सृजित किए जाएंगे। जिसके लिए 2,25,000 रुपये तय हैं साथ में अन्‍य मान्‍य भत्‍ते दिये जायेंगे। इससे प्रतिवर्ष कुल 2,27,82,096 रुपये का वित्‍तीय बोझ पड़ेगा। नए पद एनसीएलएटी को वित्‍त अधिनियम 2017, कंपनी अधिनियम , आईबीसी 2016 के तहत मिले शासनादेश को पूरा करने और निर्धारित समय - सीमा में मामलों का निपटारा करने में मदद करेंगे।

कोस्ट गार्ड और एटीएस ने पकड़ी 500 करोड़ रुपये की हेरोइन, नौ इरानी नागरिक गिरफ्तार

• इंडियन कोस्ट गार्ड और एटीएस अधिकारियों को नशे के खिलाफ उनकी मुहिम में बड़ी कामयाबी हाथ लगी है। दोनों विभागों की संयुक्त टीम ने 500 करोड़ रुपये की हेरोइन पकड़ी है। साथ ही नौ इरानी नागरिकों को गिरफ्तार किया है।

• नशे की ये खेप एक बोट से बरामद हुई है। बरामद हेरोइन का वजन तकरीबन 100 किलोग्राम है। ये हेरोइन गुजरात के एक बंदरगाह से बरामद की गई है। नाव के चालक दल ने सुबूत नष्ट करने के लिए बोट में लगा दी है।

एम पी आई ( MPI) 2018 की रिपोर्ट कहती है कि भारत की गरीबी दर में भारी कमी आई है

• बहुआयामी गरीबी सूचकांक 2018 की रिपोर्ट के अनुसार, चार सबसे गरीब राज्यों बिहार, झारखंड, उत्तर प्रदेश और मध्य प्रदेश में अभी भी 196 मिलियन एमपीआई गरीब लोगों का घर था, जो भारत के सभी एम पी आई गरीब लोगों के आधे से अधिक था।संयुक्त राष्ट्र विकास कार्यक्रम (यू एन डी पी) और ऑक्सफोर्ड गरीबी और मानव विकास पहल द्वारा तैयार की गई बहु आयामी गरीबी सूचकांक 2018 रिपोर्ट में भारत के बारे में निम्नलिखित टिप्पणियां की गई हैं:भारत ने 10 वर्षों में अपनी गरीबी दर 55% से घटाकर 28% कर दी है ,2005-06 और 2015-16 के बीच 271 मिलियन लोग गरीबी से बाहर निकल रहे हैं।झारखंड ने सबसे बड़ा सुधार दिखाया था, उसके बाद अरुणाचल प्रदेश, बिहार, छत्तीसगढ़ और नागालैंड शामिल थे। 2006 में सबसे कम गरीब क्षेत्रों में से एक, केरल ने अपने एम पी आई को लगभग 92% कम कर दिया।

15,256 फीट पर, हिमाचल का ताशींग दुनिया का सबसे ऊंचा मतदान केंद्र है

• हिमाचल प्रदेश में ताशींग मतदान केंद्र बौद्ध बहुल लाहौल-स्पीति में पड़ता है, जो भारत के दूसरे सबसे बड़े निर्वाचन क्षेत्र मंडी लोकसभा सीट बनाने वाले 17 विधानसभा क्षेत्रों में से एक है। भारत-चीन सीमा से लगभग 29 किमी दूर स्थित, मतदान केंद्र में दो गाँव- ताशींग और गेटे शामिल हैं। संशोधित मतदाता सूची के अनुसार, दो गांवों में 48 मतदाता हैं, जिनमें से 30 पुरुष और 18 महिलाएं हैं। इससे पहले लगभग 14,400 फीट की ऊंचाई पर स्थित उसी जिले में हिक्किम का छोटा निपटान देश का सबसे ऊंचा मतदान केंद्र था।

एंटी सैटेलाइट मिसाइल भारत का सबसे बड़ा हथियार होगी

• भारत ने अंतरिक्ष में सुरक्षा के लिए एंटी सैटेलाइट मिसाइल तकनीक हासिल कर ली है। यह तकनीक अब तक सिर्फ अमेरिका, रूस और चीन के पास थी। प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने बुधवार को राष्ट्र के नाम संबोधन में कहा, ‘‘वैज्ञानिकों ने लो अर्थ ऑर्बिट में 300 किलोमीटर दूर एक लाइव सैटेलाइट मार गिराया। यह ऑपरेशन ‘मिशन शक्ति’ भारत की एंटी सैटैलाइट मिसाइल ए-सैट के जरिए सिर्फ तीन मिनट में पूरा किया गया।’’ डीआरडीओ के चेयरमैन जी. सतीश रेड्डी ने भी कहा कि हमने दुनिया को बता दिया है कि हम सैटेलाइट्स को कुछ सेंटीमीटर पास जाकर भी गिरा सकते हैं। डीआरडीओ के पूर्व प्रमुख डॉ. वीके सारस्वत का कहना है कि अगर विरोधी देशों ने अंतरिक्ष में हथियार तैनात किए, तो भारत उनका मुकाबला करने की स्थिति में होगा। वहीं, डिफेंस एक्सपर्ट कर्नल (रिटायर्ड) यूएस राठौड़ ने भास्कर प्लस ऐप से बातचीत में कहा कि जंग की स्थिति में यह मिसाइल टेक्नोलॉजी दुश्मन देश में ब्लैक आउट जैसी स्थिति पैदा कर सकती है।

• भारत और अमेरिका ने देश-दर-देश (CbC) रिपोर्ट के आदान-प्रदान के लिए एक समझौते पर हस्ताक्षर किए. इस कदम से कराधान से संबंधित मामले में अमेरिकी मुख्यालय वाली कंपनियों की सहायक कंपनियों को बड़ी राहत मिलेगी. समझौते पर केंद्रीय प्रत्यक्ष कर बोर्ड (सीबीडीटी) के अध्यक्ष पीसी मोदी और भारत में अमेरिकी राजदूत केनेथ आई जस्टर ने हस्ताक्षर किए थे।

• दोनों सक्षम प्राधिकारियों के बीच द्विपक्षीय सक्षम प्राधिकरण व्यवस्था के साथ CbC रिपोर्टों के आदान-प्रदान के लिए समझौता, 1 जनवरी, 2016 को या उसके बाद शुरू होने वाले वर्षों से संबंधित न्यायालयों में बहुराष्ट्रीय उद्यमों की अंतिम मूल संस्थाओं द्वारा दायर रिपोर्टों का स्वचालित रूप से आदान-प्रदान करने के लिए दोनों देशों को सक्षम करेगा

• देश की सबसे बड़ी कार निर्माता कंपनी मारुति सुजुकी इंडिया (एमएसआई) ने केनिची आयुकावा को बुधवार को एक अप्रैल 2019 से तीन साल की अवधि के लिए फिर से प्रबंध निदेशक और सीईओ नियुक्त कर दिया। एमएसआई ने एक नियामकीय सूचना में बताया कि बुधवार को हुई कंपनी के निदेशक मंडल की बैठक में पारिश्रमिक सहित मौजूदा नियम और शर्तों पर आयुकावा को फिर से नियुक्त किया गया है।

National:

Goldman Sachs report says that in FY20 food inflation likely to go up to 2 percent.

• Goldman Sachs report said that food inflation in the country is likely to go up to 2% in the fiscal year 2019-20 from the 0.7% estimated for FY19.

• It can be noted that low food prices had been one of the prime factors which had aided the RBI to be more accommodative in its rate-setting recently. It also attributed that the low food prices in the last few months to the prices of cereals and vegetables which had remained low for some time. Deregulation of markets, which saw delisting of vegetables from the Agriculture Produce and Marketing Committee Act in 14 States, had helped keep vegetable prices low.

Delhi Development Authority launched the housing scheme.

• The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) launched the housing scheme for 2019, under which it will offer 18,000 flats spread across Narela and Vasant Kunj. With the online portal now open, interested buyers can get registered, following which a draw will be conducted to allot flats. The portal for online registration will be available until May 10.

• All the flats on offer under this scheme are newly constructed. Approximately 450 HIG [high-income group] flats and 1,550 MIG [middle-income group] are being offered. Additionally, 8,300 LIG [low-income group] and 7,700 EWS [economically weaker section] flats are being offered under the scheme. Those registering for the housing scheme will have to deposit an application fee ranging from Rs. 25,000 for EWS category to Rs. 2 lakh for three bedroom flats.

Chandrayaan 2 to carry NASAs laser retro reflector arrays.

• India’s lunar mission Chandrayaan 2 will carry NASA’s laser instruments. The U.S. space agency said that the laser instrument will help scientists to make precise measurements of the distance to the Moon. Chandrayaan 2 is scheduled to be launched in the month of April. NASA has confirmed that Chandrayaan 2 and Israeli lander Beresheet, due to touch down on April 11, will each carry NASA-owned laser retroreflector arrays.

HAL rolled out 16th Tejas fighter for IAF fleet.

• The Indian Air Force (IAF) ordered 40 Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas fighter from the Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd. (HAL). The State-run Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) has rolled out its 16th Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas fighter in the initial operational clearance (IOC) configuration to be inducted into the fleet of the Indian Air Force (IAF).

India extends Rs. 35.5 million financial grant to Nepal.

• India has extended a financial grant of 35.5 million Nepalese rupees for the construction of an educational campus in Nepal under the Development Partnership Programme. The building was constructed at Siddheshwar Education Public Campus in Ramechhap district. It consists of 12 class rooms, meeting hall, laboratory room and a library.

• It will enhance the poor, needy and the marginalized students’ access to education in the district and the nearby areas. Development Partnership Programme is administered by the Development Administration Partnership division of the Ministry of External Affair.

Jet Airways founder Naresh Goyal resigned his position.

• Jet Airways Founders Naresh Goyal and wife Anita Goyal have stepped down from the board of the cash-strapped airline. With this, Naresh Goyal ceases to be Chairman. Director Kevin Knight has also resigned. The board has accepted their resignations. The board also approved the issue of 11.4 crore equity shares to the lenders upon conversion of Re 1 of the outstanding debt. Lenders will infuse up to Rs 1,500 crore via debt instruments.

AIBA President Gafur Rahimov resigns.

• he Amateur International Boxing Federation (AIBA) President Gafur Rahimov announced his resignation. He cited the reason as the political based discussions were harming the organizations progress. Rahimov will be replaced by an interim president. Rahimov was elected in November 2018 despite being on the U.S. Treasury Department’s sanctions list “for providing material support” to a criminal organization.

• Silver Medalist in Paralympic high jump, Girish Gowda has been appointed as the ambassador of Karnataka Lok Sabha Elections 2019. He represented India in men’s high jump F-42 category during 2012 Summer Paralympics games held in London, where he clinched the silver medal. With this, he became the first Indian to win medal in this category

• K. Govindaraj has been unanimously re-elected as president of the Basketball Federation of India (BFI) at its annual general body meeting. Govindaraj announced that a new six-team women’s league will be held in the next three months.

INTERNATIONAL:

Pentagon approves USD 1 billion to build 92 km of Trump's border wall.

• Acting US defence (Pentagon) secretary Patrick Shanahan authorised $1 billion to build part of the wall sought by President Donald Trump along the US-Mexico border. The amount will go towards building 92 km of 18-foot fencing, improving roads and other measures along the border.

• Earlier, Trump had declared national emergency over the border wall demand. Trump had sought $5.7 billion for the wall. He believes the wall will help curb crime and drug trade in the US. The wall was one of the main promises of the Trump election campaign in 2016.

IAF formally inducted four heavy-lift Chinook helicopters.

• On the lines of Indo-US deal inked in September 2015 for the purchase of 15 Chinooks by India, the first four heavy lift CH-47F (I) Chinook helicopters were inducted in the Indian Air Force, at Air Force Station, Chandigarh, in Squadron No 126 Helicopter Flight.

• These multi-role helicopters will act as life-saver during HADR (humanitarian assistance and disaster relief) missions. Regarded as one of the most modern heavy lift chopper, the payload capacity of Chinook is about 10 tonne, as it is able to lift artillery, vehicles, road construction and engineer equipment as well as troops and supplies to mountainous sectors.

• It can also lift M-777 ultra-light howitzers of the Indian armed forces. India has purchased 15 Chinooks for $1.5 billion. The delivery of remaining helicopters is expected to be completed by 2023.

Peter Tabichi won Global Teacher Prize 2019.

• Peter Tabichi, a science teacher from rural Kenya, who gives away most of his salary to support poorer pupils, has won a $1m prize (£760,000) for the world's best teacher. The award, in a competition run by the Varkey Foundation, has seen him beating 10,000 other nominations from 179 countries. Last year's winner was an art teacher from north London, Andria Zafirakou.

दिल्ली विकास प्राधिकरण ने आवास योजना शुरू की।

• दिल्ली विकास प्राधिकरण (DDA) ने 2019 के लिए आवास योजना शुरू की, जिसके तहत वह नरेला और वसंत कुंज में फैले 18,000 फ्लैटों की पेशकश करेगा। अब ऑनलाइन पोर्टल खुलने से इच्छुक खरीदार पंजीकृत हो सकते हैं, जिसके बाद फ्लैटों का आवंटन करने के लिए एक ड्रॉ आयोजित किया जाएगा। ऑनलाइन पंजीकरण का पोर्टल 10 मई तक उपलब्ध होगा।

• इस योजना के तहत प्रस्ताव पर सभी फ्लैट नवनिर्मित हैं। लगभग 450 एचआईजी [उच्च-आय समूह] फ्लैट और 1,550 एमआईजी [मध्यम-आय समूह] की पेशकश की जा रही है। इसके अतिरिक्त, योजना के तहत 8,300 LIG [निम्न-आय वर्ग] और 7,700 EWS [आर्थिक रूप से कमजोर वर्ग] के फ्लैटों की पेशकश की जा रही है।

NASA के लेजर उपकरणों को चंद्रमा तक ले जाएगा Chandrayaan 2

• अमेरिकी अंतरिक्ष एजेंसी के अधिकारियों के मुताबिक इससे वैज्ञानिकों को चंद्रमा तक की दूरी का सटीक माप लेने में मदद मिलेगी।

• पिछले हफ्ते अमेरिका के टेक्सास में हुए चंद्र एवं ग्रह विज्ञान सम्मेलन के दौरान नासा ने इस बात की पुष्टि की थी तैयार चंद्रयान दो और इजराइली यान बेरेशीट, दोनों नासा के स्वामित्व वाले लेजर रेट्रोरिफलेक्टर अरै को साथ लेकर जाएंगे।

• ट्रोरिफ्लेक्टर ऐसे परिष्कृत शीशे होते हैं जो धरती से भेजे गये लेजर रोशनी संकेतों को प्रतिबिंबित करते हैं. ये सिग्नल यान की मौजूदगी का सटीक तरीके से पता लगाने में मदद कर सकते हैं जिसका प्रयोग वैज्ञानिक धरती से चंद्रमा की दूरी का सटीक आकलन करने के लिए कर सकते हैं।

एचएएल ने लक्ष्य के मुताबिक वायुसेना के लिये 16वें तेजस का उत्पादन किया

• हिंदुस्तान एयरोनॉटिक्स लिमिटेड (एचएएल) ने सोमवार को तय लक्ष्य के मुताबिक 16वें हल्के लड़ाकू विमान “तेजस” के उत्पादन की घोषणा की। शहर में स्थित सार्वजनिक क्षेत्र की कंपनी के मुख्यालय से कहा गया कि ग्राहक उड़ानें इस महीने के अंत तक पूरी हो जाएंगी। एचएएल ने एक बयान में कहा कि उसके पास वायुसेना से 40 हल्के लड़ाकू विमानों (16 इनीशियल ऑपरेशनल क्लीयरेंस (आईओसी) और 16 फाइनल ऑपरेशन क्लीयरेंस (एफओसी) विन्यास के लिये तथा आठ प्रशिक्षण विमान) का ऑर्डर है और इसमें से 16वां विमान 31 मार्च तक के लक्ष्य के मुताबिक तैयार है। भारतीय वायुसेना की फ्लाइंग ड्रैगर्स स्क्वाड्रन में एक जुलाई 2016 को इन विमानों को शामिल किया गया था और पिछले महीने इसे एफओसी दिया गया जो इसके युद्ध के लिये तैयार होने का संकेत है। एचएएल ने कहा कि तेजस का उत्पादन 2014 में शुरू हुआ था और पांच वर्षों में यह आठ विमान प्रतिवर्ष की मौजूदा उत्पादन क्षमता तक पहुंच गया है।

नेपाल को 35.5 मिलियन वित्तीय अनुदान।

• भारत ने विकास साझेदारी कार्यक्रम के तहत नेपाल में एक शैक्षिक परिसर के निर्माण के लिए 35.5 मिलियन नेपाली रुपये का वित्तीय अनुदान बढ़ाया है। भवन का निर्माण रमेछप जिले के सिद्धेश्वर एजुकेशन पब्लिक कैंपस में किया गया था। इसमें 12 क्लास रूम, मीटिंग हॉल, लेबोरेटरी रूम और एक लाइब्रेरी है।

• यह गरीबों, जरूरतमंदों और हाशिए पर रहने वाले छात्रों की जिले और आसपास के क्षेत्रों में शिक्षा की पहुंच बढ़ाएगा। विकास भागीदारी कार्यक्रम को विदेश मंत्रालय के विकास प्रशासन भागीदारी विभाग द्वारा प्रशासित किया जाता है।

जेट एयरवेज संकट: आखिरकार नरेश गोयल ने दिया बोर्ड और चेयरमैन पद से इस्तीफा

• कर्ज के जाल में फंसी जेट एयरवेज के चेयरमैन नरेश गोयल और उनकी पत्नी अनिता गोयल ने सोमवार को बोर्ड की सदस्यता से इस्तीफा दे दिया है। नरेश गोयल ने कंपनी के चेयरमैन पद से भी इस्तीफा दे दिया है। इससे पहले उन्होंने खुद इस्तीफे की पेशकश की थी। बता दें कि नरेश गोयल जेट एयरवेज के प्रमुख प्रमोटरों में से एक थे। उन्होंने संकट के बीच कर्मचारियों को भावुक पत्र भी लिखा था, जिसमें उन्होंने कहा था कि वह किसी भी बलिदान को तैयार हैं।

• कार्यवाहक अमेरिकी रक्षा (पेंटागन) के सचिव पैट्रिक शहनहान ने अमेरिका-मैक्सिको सीमा के साथ राष्ट्रपति डोनाल्ड ट्रम्प द्वारा मांगी गई दीवार का हिस्सा बनाने के लिए 1 बिलियन राशि को अधिकृत किया। यह राशि 18 फुट की बाड़ लगाने और सीमा के साथ अन्य उपायों को बेहतर बनाने के लिए 92 किमी का निर्माण करेगी।

• चिनूक हेलीकॉप्टर के लिए यहां दो हैंगर व रसद सुविधाएं तैयार की गई हैं।

• प्रत्येक चिनूक हेलीकॉप्टर की भार क्षमता करीब 10 टन है। इससे भारत की सामरिक मालवहन क्षमता में भारी वृद्धि होगी।

• भारतीय वायुसेना ने गुजरात के मुंद्रा बंदरगाह में 10 फरवरी को अपना पहला सीएच-47एफ (आई) चिनूक प्राप्त किया था।

• चिनूक का उपपयोग युद्ध क्षेत्रों में जवानों, तोपों, गोलाबारूद, आपूर्ति व उपकरणों को पहुंचाने के लिए किया जाएगा।

Chennai to get second Greenfield airport.

• The Tamil Nadu government has finally taken the first step towards building the second Greenfield airport near Chennai. Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (Tidco) Limited has issued a Request for Proposal to appoint a consultant for preparing a draft report and identify potential sites near the city.

• Tidco was chosen as the nodal agency for selection of a consultant, officials said. No site has been identified yet. The consultant will identify and propose three potential sites near Chennai for the greenfield airport. The consultant will look at the air traffic projections and the demand and do a detailed master plan citing the necessary airside and land facilities and other infrastructure and industrial provisions the site will need.

Over 12 Indian states banned e-cigarettes.

• Following an advisory from the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare issued in 2018, Twelve states across India have banned Electronic Nicotine Delivery Systems (ENDS) or e-cigarettes.

• States of Punjab, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Jharkhand have taken steps to ban the use of ENDS.

• ENDS, more commonly known as e-cigarettes or “vapes" in India, are products that produce an aerosolized mixture containing flavored liquids and nicotine that is inhaled by the user.

Over 605 people have died of swine flu in 2019 so far: Health Ministry.

• According to data from the Union Health Ministry, as many as 605 people have died due to swine flu this year, with 75 deaths being reported last week. Over 19,380 people have tested positive for the virus. Rajasthan reported the highest number of swine flu cases (4,551) and deaths (162) followed by Gujarat (118 deaths and 3,969 cases). Delhi was third with 3,362 swine flu cases and seven deaths. Swine flu is the common name for the H1N1 influenza virus. H1N1 is a self-limiting viral, air-borne disease spread from person to person, through large droplets generated due to coughing and sneezing, indirect contact by touching a contaminated object or surface and close contact, including handshaking, hugging and kissing.

India extended USD 250 million to Nepal.

• India has extended a grant assistance of up to USD 250 million to Nepal for the reconstruction of infrastructures in the areas of housing, education, health and cultural heritage that was destroyed during the devastating April 2015 earthquake which saw the death of over 9,000 people.

India ranks 16th in terms of highest number of impacted species in hotspots.

• India was ranked 16th in the world in terms of highest number of impacted species in biodiversity-rich zones (also known as hotspots) due to human actions.

• In India, 35 species affected on an average in biodiversity-rich zones. Malaysia ranks first among countries with highest number of impacted species (on an average 125 species). Southeast Asian tropical forests — including those in India’s Western Ghats, Himalaya and north-east — are among the ‘hotspots’ of threatened species.

India bans Boeing 737 MAX 8 planes after the Ethiopian Airlines crash.

• Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft banned by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) in the Indian airspace from 1600 hrs IST or 1030 UTC 13th March 2019. The airlines affected by this are SpiceJet which has 13 jets of the model 8 variant and Jet Airways which has 5 jets of this variant.

Thirty four edition of Aahar International Food and Hospitality Fair begins in New Delhi.

• 34th edition of Aahar- the International Food and Hospitality Fair which is organized by India Trade Promotion Organization (ITPO) begins in New Delhi on 12th March 2019. Participants from China, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, Indonesia, Japan, Russia, Spain, USA and UK are participating in the event.

HGS and NASSCOM to launch centre of excellence for PwDs in Bangalore.

• Hinduja Global Solutions (HGS) partnered with National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM) Foundation to launch a centre of excellence in Bengaluru for training differently-abled persons (PwDs) which will train a minimum of 100 PwDs making them industry-ready over the next 12 months with a goal to place at least 50% of them in companies already sensitised for hiring them.

• The trainees will be skilled in a variety of job roles suitable for hospitality, IT or BPM and retail industries and will also be trained on soft skills, interview skills, communication skills, and English language.

• HDFC Bank crossed the Rs. 6 lakh crore market capitalisation mark for the first time on March 13, becoming only the third Indian company to achieve the milestone.

• Reliance Industries is the most valued Indian company with a market value of Rs.8.50 lakh crore, followed by TCS at Rs. 7.50 lakh crore.

RBI to inject rupee liquidity through Forex swap.

• The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has decided to inject rupee liquidity into the system through long-term foreign exchange buy/sell swap, a first-of-its-kind instrument, used for liquidity management. The RBI would conduct dollar-rupee buy/sell swap auction of $5 billion for a three-year tenor on March 26.

• The U.S. dollar amount mobilised through this auction would also reflect in RBI’s foreign exchange reserves for the tenor of the swap while also reflecting in RBI’s forward liabilities. This move of RBI can lower the dependence on open market operations (OMO) which have been a significant amount of the overall borrowing as higher OMOs can distort the rates curve.

• Rahul Bajaj will step down as Chairman and Non-Executive Director of Financial services company ‘Bajaj Finserv’ on May 16. However, he will continue to serve the company as Chairman Emeritus. • Famous Novelist and Film Director, Ved Rahi will be awarded prestigious Kusumagraj Rashtriya Sahitya Puruskar which carries a cash prize of Rs. 1 Lakh, A memento and a citation. Ved Rahi was born in Jammu in 1933 and he had written seven novels in Dogri Language. He also wrote in Hindi and Urdu. He was given Sahitya Akademi Award in 1983 for his Novel “Aale” which was written in Dogri Language.

Japan announced Rs 22 lakh for Kolkata museum.

• The Japanese government announced a donation of some Rs 22 lakh ($31,800) to the Rabindra Bharati Museum, Kolkata in a bid to strengthen historical and cultural ties with India. Rabindranath Tagore, Asia's first Nobel Prize recipient, visited Japan in 1916, 1924 and 1929, renewing relations between the countries as India's leading cultural ambassador.

UK issued a Black hole Coin to commemorate Stephen Hawking.

• The United Kingdom has commemorated Professor Stephen Hawking in a new 50p coin. The coin has references to the late physicist's pioneering work on black holes. Black Hole Coin The commemorative coin aims to celebrate the life and "ground-breaking" achievements of Hawking, who passed away in 2018. It is a commemorative coin and not for circulation as currency.

• The coin features Hawkins's name in capital letters above a rippling drawing of concentric circles, intended to represent a black hole. The coin was designed by British engraver and printmaker Edwina Ellis. The coin is available in gold, silver, and a double thickness silver version called a piedfort. The coin has been released by UK's Royal Mint.

EU has added 10 countries in the Tax blacklist.

• The European Union has expanded its tax haven blacklist by including 10 countries. The list now has 15 countries. The list was first drawn up by EU in 2017 in the wake of several scandals that pushed the EU into doing more to fight tax evasion by multinationals and the rich.

• Seven countries Aruba, Belize, Bermuda, Fiji, Oman, Vanuatu, and Dominica were moved from greylist to blacklist due to their inability towards reform commitments. Three other countries added into the list are Barbados, the United Arab Emirates, and the Marshall Islands.

• Eu list of Tax Blacklist or Tax Havens: Tax Havens provide taxpayers with opportunities for tax avoidance, while their secrecy and opacity also serve to hide the origin of the proceeds of illegal and criminal activities. Features of these Tax Havens include low or zero taxation, fictitious residences (with no bearing on reality) and tax secrecy.

Krishna Kumari Kohli becomes the first Thari Hindu woman to be elected to the Senate of Pakistan.

• Krishna Kumari Kohli appointed as the first female senator of Pakistan from the Hindu Dalit community. She is also the first Thai Hindu woman to be elected to the Pakistan Senate. On 8th March 2019, which was celebrated as the International Women’s Day, she chaired the session of the Upper House of Parliament.

Industrial production growth declined to 1.7% in January 2019 as per CSO report.

• The Central Statistics Office (CSO) has released the data for the Index of Industrial Production (IIP) for the month of January. The IIP data shows that: Industrial output growth stood at 1.7% in January against the 2.6% growth recorded in December 2018. Eleven out of the twenty-three industry groups in the manufacturing sector have shown positive growth during the month of January 2019 as compared to January 2018. The cumulative industrial production increased by 4% in April-January FY2019 compared with 4.1% growth in April-January FY2018.

Japan plans to stun the world in 2020 Olympics.

• Driverless cars, robot volunteers and ultra high-definition TV: Japan Inc. plans to use the Tokyo 2020 Olympics to show the world it has regained its touch for innovation and technology. The last time Japan hosted the summer games, Tokyo 1964, it stunned the visitors with its shinkansen, the sleek high-speed bullet train that has since become a byword for cool and efficient transport.

NASA to send women to Mars.

• NASA, the US Space agency, said that the first person to set foot on Mars is likely to be a woman. It said that women are at the forefront of the U.S. space agency’s upcoming plans.

• NASA recently announced that it will have its first all-female spacewalk at the end of the month when astronauts Anne McClain and Christina Koch will get to float around in space. NASA has the first all-female spacewalk at the end of March, which is, of course, National Women’s Month. So NASA is committed to making sure that it has a diverse set of talent. It is also looking forward to the first woman on the Moon.

• तमिलनाडु सरकार ने चेन्नई के पास दूसरा ग्रीनफील्ड हवाई अड्डा बनाने की दिशा में पहला कदम उठाया है। तमिलनाडु औद्योगिक विकास निगम (Tidco) लिमिटेड ने एक मसौदा रिपोर्ट तैयार करने और शहर के पास संभावित साइटों की पहचान करने के लिए एक सलाहकार नियुक्त करने के लिए एक अनुरोध जारी किया है।

• अधिकारियों ने कहा कि टिडको को सलाहकार के चयन के लिए नोडल एजेंसी के रूप में चुना गया था। अभी तक किसी भी साइट की पहचान नहीं की गई है। सलाहकार ग्रीनफील्ड हवाई अड्डे के लिए चेन्नई के पास तीन संभावित स्थलों की पहचान करेगा और उन्हें प्रस्तावित करेगा। सलाहकार वायु यातायात अनुमानों और मांग को देखेंगे और आवश्यक एयरसाइड और भूमि सुविधाओं और अन्य बुनियादी ढांचे और औद्योगिक प्रावधानों का हवाला देते हुए एक विस्तृत मास्टर प्लान करेंगे।

12 से अधिक भारतीय राज्यों ने ई-सिगरेट पर प्रतिबंध लगाया-

• केंद्रीय स्वास्थ्य और परिवार कल्याण मंत्रालय की 2018 में जारी एक सलाह के बाद, भारत भर के बारह राज्यों ने इलेक्ट्रॉनिक निकोटीन डिलीवरी सिस्टम (ईएनडीएस) या ई-सिगरेट पर प्रतिबंध लगा दिया है।

• पंजाब, महाराष्ट्र, कर्नाटक, केरल, बिहार, उत्तर प्रदेश, जम्मू और कश्मीर, हिमाचल प्रदेश, तमिलनाडु, पुडुचेरी और झारखंड राज्यों ने ENDS के उपयोग पर प्रतिबंध लगाने के लिए कदम उठाए हैं।

• ईएनडीएस, जिसे आमतौर पर भारत में ई-सिगरेट या "वेप्स" के रूप में जाना जाता है, वे उत्पाद हैं जो एक एरोसोलिज्ड मिश्रण का उत्पादन करते हैं जिसमें स्वाद तरल और निकोटीन होता है जो उपयोगकर्ता द्वारा साँस लिया जाता है।

भारत ने नेपाल के बुनियादी ढांचे के पुनर्निर्माण के लिए 250 मिलियन अमरीकी डालर का विस्तार किया

• भारत ने आवास, शिक्षा, स्वास्थ्य और सांस्कृतिक विरासत के क्षेत्रों में अवसंरचना के पुनर्निर्माण के लिए नेपाल में 250 मिलियन अमरीकी डालर तक की अनुदान सहायता का विस्तार किया है, नेपाल अप्रैल 2015 में आए विनाशकारी भूकंप के दौरान नष्ट हो गया था जिसमें 9,000 से अधिक लोगों की मृत्यु हुई थी।

• 13 मार्च को एचडीएफसी बैंक रिलायंस इंडस्ट्रीज (8.52 ट्रिलियन रुपये) और टीसीएस (7.49 ट्रिलियन रुपये) के बाद तीसरी भारतीय कंपनी बन गई, जिसके शेयर की कीमतों में अचानक उछाल के कारण इसे 6 ट्रिलियन रुपये का बाजार मूल्य प्राप्त हुआ।

• भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक (आरबीआई) ने पहली बार सिस्टम में तरलता बढ़ाने के लिए एक नए टूल का उपयोग करने का निर्णय लिया है, जिसके उपयोग से यह बैंकों से 5 बिलियन डॉलर को स्वैप डील में खरीदेगा जो कि लगभग सिस्टम में 35,000 करोड़ को इंजेक्ट करने में सक्षम है।

• बैंकों को 3 साल के बाद आरबीआई से वापस खरीदने की शर्त के साथ आरबीआई के पास डॉलर का फंड जमा करना होगा।

• इस तरह की अमेरिकी डॉलर खरीदने/बेचने की अदला-बदली की पहली नीलामी 26 मार्च 2019 को होगी।

जापान ने कोलकाता संग्रहालय के लिए 22 लाख रुपये की घोषणा की

• जापान सरकार ने भारत के साथ ऐतिहासिक व सांस्कृतिक संबंधों को मजबूती देने के मकसद से सोमवार को रबिंद्र भारती संग्रहालय को करीब 22 लाख रुपये दान देने की घोषणा की। संग्रहालय की जापान गैलरी के नवीकरण के लिए कोलकाता में जापानी महावाणिज्यदूत मासायूकी तागा और रबिंद्र भारती विशविद्यालय के कुलपति सब्यसाची बासु रे चौधरी के बीच बुधवार को एक समझौता ज्ञापन पर हस्ताक्षर होंगे। विवि ने एक बयान जारी कर कहा कि विश्वविद्यालय के जोरासांको ठाकुरबाड़ी परिसर में स्थित जापान गैलरी का नवीकरण और सजावट कार्य रविंद्रनाथ टैगोर के जापान-भारत संबंधों में योगदान के महत्व को दर्शाएगा। एशिया के पहले नोबल पुरस्कार विजेता टैगोर ने 1916, 1924 और 1929 में जापान का दौरा किया था और भारत के दिग्गज सांस्कृतिक राजदूत के रूप में देशों के बीच रिश्तों का नया रूप दिया था।

EU ने टैक्स ब्लैकलिस्ट में 10 देशों को जोड़ा है-

• यूरोपीय संघ ने 10 देशों को शामिल करके अपने टैक्स हेवन ब्लैकलिस्ट का विस्तार किया है। सूची में अब 15 देश हैं। 2017 में पहली बार यूरोपीय संघ द्वारा कई घोटालों के मद्देनजर सूची तैयार की गई थी, जिसमें बहुराष्ट्रीय कंपनियों और अमीरों द्वारा कर चोरी से लड़ने के लिए यूरोपीय संघ को अधिक धक्का दिया गया था।

सीएसओ की रिपोर्ट के अनुसार जनवरी 2019 में औद्योगिक उत्पादन वृद्धि घटकर 1.7% रह गई-

• औद्योगिक उत्पादन (आईआईपी) की वृद्धि दर जनवरी महीने में धीमी पड़कर 1.7 प्रतिशत रह गई। विनिर्माण क्षेत्र, विशेषरूप से पूंजीगत सामान और उपभोक्ता सामान क्षेत्र के सुस्त प्रदर्शन की वजह से आईआईपी की वृद्धि दर कम हुई है। केंद्रीय सांख्यिकी कार्यालय (सीएसओ) द्वारा आईआईपी के आंकड़े रिजर्व बैंक की चार अप्रैल को आने वाली मौद्रिक समीक्षा से पहले जारी किए गए हैं। माना जा रहा है कि इससे रिजर्व बैंक पर ब्याज दर में कटौती का दबाव बढ़ेगा।

• एक साल पहले यानी जनवरी, 2018 में औद्योगिक उत्पादन की वृद्धि दर 7.5 प्रतिशत रही थी। इस बीच, सीएसओ ने दिसंबर, 2018 के आईआईपी आंकड़ों को ऊपर की ओर संशोधित कर 2.6 प्रतिशत कर दिया है। पहले इसके 2.4 प्रतिशत रहने का अनुमान था। सीएसओ के मंगलवार को जारी आंकड़ों के अनुसार जनवरी में विनिर्माण क्षेत्र की वृद्धि दर घटकर 1.3 प्रतिशत रह गई, जो जनवरी, 2018 में 8.7 प्रतिशत पर थी। इसी तरह बिजली क्षेत्र की वृद्धि दर 0.8 प्रतिशत रही, जो एक साल पहले इसी महीने में 7.6 प्रतिशत थी।

अर्जेंटीना और कोलंबिया कोपा अमेरिका 2020 की सह-मेजबानी करेंगे:

•14 मार्च 2019 को, दक्षिण अमेरिका की सत्तारूढ़ निकाय कांमेबोल ने एक बार फिर टूर्नामेंट की मेजबानी के लिए अमेरिकी प्रस्ताव को खारिज कर दिया, अर्जेंटीना और कोलंबिया 2020 कोपा अमेरिका की सह-मेजबानी करने के लिए तैयार हैं।

मंगल पर पहले अंतरिक्ष यात्री के रूप में महिला को भेजा जाएगा- नासा

• नासा की योजना है कि जब पहली बार मंगल ग्रह पर कोई अंतरिक्ष यात्री जाए तो वह एक महिला हो। नासा की प्रशासक जिम ब्राइडेनस्टाइन ने विज्ञान, तकनीक पर आधारित रेडियो टॉक शो ‘साइंस फ्राईडे ’में कहा कि अंतरिक्ष एजेंसी की योजनाओं में महिलाएं सबसे आगे हैं। उनका कहना है कि चांद पर भी किसी महिला को भेजने की योजना पर काम चल रहा है।

• नासा की प्रशासक ने कहा कि एजेंसी महीने के आखिर में पहली बार एक स्पेस वॉक कराने जा रही है। इसके तहत एने मेक्कलेन और क्रिस्टिना कोच जैसी अंतरिक्ष यात्री अंतरिक्ष का भ्रमण करेंगी। स्पेस वॉक सात घंटे की होगी। उनका कहना है कि सबसे खास यह है कि यह अनूठा काम राष्ट्रीय महिला माह में होने जा रहा है।

NATIONAL:

Union Bank of India reduced the MCLR by 10 basis points

• Union Bank of India, the State-run lender, said it had reduced the Marginal Cost of funds-based Lending Rate (MCLR) by 10 basis points across all tenors.

• The lender has reduced its one-year MCLR or the minimum lending rate, against which most of the consumer loans are benchmarked, to 8.60% from 8.70% earlier. The bank has set the new six-month MCLR at 8.50% and two-year at 8.70%.

RBI has formed a task force on the offshore rupee market

• The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has formed a task force on the offshore rupee market. It will be headed by former Deputy Governor Usha Thorat and will recommend steps for ensuring the stability of the currency.

• The task force shall examine the issues relating to the offshore rupee markets in depth and recommend appropriate policy measures that also factor in the requirement of ensuring the stability of the external value of the rupee. The committee would submit its report by the end of June 2019.

• The task force will assess the causes behind the development of the offshore rupee market, and study the effects on the exchange rate and market liquidity in the domestic market. It would also recommend measures to address concerns arising out of offshore rupee trading.

Growth Rate in the Core Sector witnessed decline

• The data from the Ministry of Commerce and Industries reported that the growth rate eight core sectors which include coal, crude oil, natural gas, refinery products, fertilizers, steel, cement, and electricity witnessed a decline. The core sector which had witnessed a 6.2% growth in January 2018 witnessed a growth rate of 1.8% in January.

• The decline in the output of crude oil, refinery products, and electricity pulled down the growth of eight core sectors to 1.8%. Production of crude oil, refinery products, and electricity contracted 4.3%, 2.6%, and 0.4%, respectively. Coal and cement output slowed to 1.7% and 11% in January as against 3.8% and 19.6% in January 2018, respectively. Natural gas, fertilizers and steel output grew 6.2%, 10.5%, and 8.2 % respectively. The core sector growth would impact the Index of Industrial Production (IIP) as these segments account for about 41 percent of the total industry output.

DCB Bank launches Open Banking Platform for next generation banking solutions.

• Creating a collaborative ecosystem with enterprises, fintech and app developers, and enhancing customer-service delivery, DCB Bank announced the launch of its Open Banking Platform.

• More than 20 start-ups, fintech, merchants, enterprises and developers are set to partner with DCB Bank for access to its Open Banking Platform APIs (Application programming interface) and collaborate on innovation and customer centric products.

Mainamati Maitree Exercise 2019 held between BSF and BGB.

• Border Security Force (BSF) and Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB) concluded a three-day Mainamati Maitree Exercise 2019 as a part of confidence-building measures between the two border guards. The exercise was held in Comilla district of Bangladesh.

• The objective of Mainamati Maitree Exercise 2019 was to plan and conduct anti-smuggling and anti-criminal activity related operations with an aim to achieve better joint operational efficiency and border management in the area. The exercise involved joint patrolling, anti-smuggling drills, and simulated raids on suspected places in both the countries and checking of goods and identity at international check posts.

PNB bank ranks highest in implementation of Reforms Agenda

• Punjab National Bank (PNB) secured top spot among all public sector banks in the implementation of ‘Reforms agenda’.

• PNB topped the list with a score of 78.4 out of 100 in the EASE-index which is followed by BoB (77.8), SBI (74.6), and Oriental Bank of Commerce (69).

• The EASE (Enhanced Access and Service Excellence) report shown significant enhancement in PSB performance on the back of Government’s 4 R's strategy- recognition, recovery, recapitalisation and reforms.

Cabinet approves setting up of 22nd AIIMS at Manethi, Haryana

• The new All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) at Manethi, District Rewari, and Haryana will be established at a cost of Rs 1,299 crore.

• Like other AIIMS in the country, the AIIMS Rewari will also be set up under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY).

• The new AIIMS will add 100 Undergraduate (MBBS) seats and 60 B.Sc (Nursing) seats.

IRCTC launched its own digital payment gateway 'IRCTC iPay'.

• With a view to promote Government’s Digital India initiative, the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation(IRCTC) has launched its much awaited own payment aggregator system called "IRCTC iPay”.

• The new system will provide payment options like Credit Card, Debit card, Unified Payment Interface (UPI) and International card.

APPOINTMENTS AND RESIGNATIONAS:

Ajay Narayan Jha became Member of the 15th Finance Commission.

• Shri Ajay Narayan Jha joined the 15th Finance Commission as its Member in place of Shri Shaktikanta Das resigned as a Member of the Commission after being appointed as Governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).

• A 1982 batch IAS officer of Manipur cadre, he was the Finance Secretary to the Government of India and served as Secretary to the 14th Finance Commission, headed by former RBI Governor, Shri Y.V. Reddy.

• The 15th Finance Commission was constituted by a Presidential Order in November 2017 under the Chairmanship of Shri N. K. Singh to decide the formula for devolution of revenue between Centre and States.

Naresh Goyal agreed to step down as Jet Airways chairman

• This comes weeks after reports suggested that the cash-strapped Jet airline has agreed to most of the conditions set by its second-largest shareholder Etihad for its revival.

• Etihad had agreed to invest in Jet Airways if Goyal stepped down from the board.

• Etihad Airways owns a 24% stake in Jet Airways

• Jet airline had a gross debt of ₹8,411 crore as of September-end, including aircraft debt of ₹1,851 crore

AGREEMENTS:

RBI have signed a bilateral swap agreement with the Bank of Japan

• Reserve Bank of India (RBI) have signed a bilateral swap agreement with the Bank of Japan. The Swap agreement will provide India access to 75 billion US dollars against the 50 billion dollars under earlier BSA.

• The bilateral swap agreement will provide India to access the reserves if at any point of time when the need arises. The currency swap makes it easier to improve liquidity conditions. Currency swap agreements help when the economic crisis arises.

• The swap agreements also contribute towards stabilizing the country's balance of payments (BOP) position. The agreement aids in improving confidence in the Indian market.

POLICY:

India’s first policy to protect bank locker launched by IFFCO Tokio General Insurance.

• IFFCO Tokio General Insurance launched ‘bank locker protector policy’, the first stand-alone bank locker cover offered by any insurance company with a plan to protect the contents of a bank locker such as jewellery, title documents, and other valuables.

• The policy offers a cover against various risks including fire, earthquake, burglary, and holdup, infidelity by a bank staff or any act of terrorism.

• Important documents kept in a locker can also be insured under the policy as an add-on cover.

• The policy can be sold both as a retail and a group policy for banks

Deepak Singh Wins Gold At Makran Cup In Boxing

• National Boxing champion Deepak Singh (49kg) is the only Indian boxer who won gold medal at Makran Cup in Boxing held at Chabahar, Iran.

The five others claimed silver medals in the Makran Cup in Chabahar, Iran P. Lalitha Prasad (52kg), Commonwealth Games silver-medallist Manish Kaushik (60kg), Duryodhan Singh Negi (69kg), Sanjeet (91kg) and Commonwealth Games silver-medallist Satish Kumar (+91kg) claimed silver medals.

INTERNATIONAL:

Russia, China blocked a US resolution on Venezuela in the UN

• Russia and China vetoed a US resolution at the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) on addressing the crisis in Venezuela.

• Russia's draft resolution -- which urged a settlement "through peaceful means" and insisted that all humanitarian aid be agreed by Maduro's government -- won only four votes: Russia, China, South Africa and Equatorial Guinea.

• Seven countries including the United States, European countries and Peru opposed the Russian measure and there were four abstentions.

यूनियन बैंक ऑफ इंडिया ने MCLR में 10 बेसिस प्वाइंट की कमी की-

• यूनियन बैंक ऑफ इंडिया, द्वारा संचालित ऋणदाता, के अनुसार सभी किरायेदारों के आधार पर धन आधारित उधार दर (एमसीएलआर) की सीमांत लागत को 10 आधार अंकों तक घटा दिया गया है।

• ऋणदाता ने अपनी एक साल की एमसीएलआर या न्यूनतम उधार दर को कम कर दिया है, जिसके खिलाफ अधिकांश उपभोक्ता ऋण बेंचमार्क हैं, 8.70% से 8.60% पहले था, बैंक ने नए छह महीने के लिए MCLR को 8.50% और दो साल के लिए 8.70% पर सेट किया है।

भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक ने अपतटीय रुपया बाजार में एक टास्क फोर्स का गठन किया-

• भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक (RBI) ने अपतटीय रुपया बाजार में एक टास्क फोर्स का गठन किया है। इसकी अध्यक्षता पूर्व उप राज्यपाल उषा थोराट करेंगी और मुद्रा की स्थिरता सुनिश्चित करने के लिए कार्यों की सिफारिश करेगी।

• टास्क फोर्स अपतटीय रुपये के बाजारों से संबंधित मुद्दों की गहराई से जांच करेगा और उचित नीतिगत उपायों की सिफारिश करेगा जो रुपये के बाहरी मूल्य की स्थिरता को सुनिश्चित करने की आवश्यकता के लिए भी कारक है। समिति जून 2019 के अंत तक अपनी रिपोर्ट प्रस्तुत करेगी।

• टास्क फोर्स अपतटीय रुपये के बाजार के विकास के पीछे के कारणों का आकलन करेगा, और घरेलू बाजार में विनिमय दर और बाजार की तरलता पर पड़ने वाले प्रभावों का अध्ययन करेगा। यह अपतटीय रुपये के व्यापार से उत्पन्न चिंताओं को दूर करने के उपायों की भी सिफारिश करेगा।

कोर सेक्टर में विकास दर में गिरावट पाई गई-

• चुनावी साल में सरकार को इकॉनमी के मोर्चे पर बड़ी चुनौतियों का सामना करना पड़ रहा है। तीसरी तिमाही में जहां जीडीपी ग्रोथ रेट घटकर 6.6 पर्सेंट पर आ गई है, वहीं जनवरी में कोर सेक्टर की ग्रोथ भी घटकर 1.8 पर्सेंट रह गई। यह पिछले 19 महीने में कोर सेक्टर का सबसे कमजोर प्रदर्शन है। इससे पहले जून 2017 में कोर सेक्टर की ग्रोथ 1 पर्सेंट के साथ सबसे कम रही थी।

• सरकार के गुरुवार को जारी आंकड़ों के अनुसार बिजली, कोयला, क्रूड और रिफाइनरी प्रॉडक्ट्स सेक्टर का प्रदर्शन जनवरी में खराब रहा, जिससे कोर सेक्टर की ग्रोथ घटकर 1.8 पर्सेंट पर आ गई। इससे पिछले महीने यानी दिसंबर, 2018 में कोर सेक्टर की ग्रोथ 2.6 पर्सेंट थी। कोर सेक्टर की सुस्त ग्रोथ का इंडस्ट्रियल प्रॉडक्शन पर भी बुरा असर पड़ेगा क्योंकि उसमें इनका वेटेज 40 पर्सेंट है। कोर सेक्टर में कोयला, क्रूड ऑइल, नैचुरल गैस, रिफाइनरी प्रोडक्ट्स, फर्टिलाइजर्स, स्टील, सीमेंट और इलेक्ट्रिसिटी शामिल हैं।

टाटा स्टील दुनिया की सर्वाधिक ‘नैतिक मूल्य’ वाली कंपनी-

• देश की सबसे पुरानी इस्पात कंपनी टाटा स्टील को 2019 में दुनिया की सर्वाधिक ‘नैतिक मूल्यों’ वाली कंपनी के तौर पर चुना गया है। उसे यह सम्मान ‘एथिस्फीयर इंस्टीट्यूट’ द्वारा दिया गया है। एथिस्फीयर इंस्टीट्यूट, मानक और नैतिक मूल्यों के आधार पर कंपनियों की रैकिंग करने वाली प्रमुख वैश्विक संस्था है।

बीएसएफ और बीजीबी के बीच 3 दिवसीय ‘मैनामती मैत्री व्यायाम 2019’ त्रिपुरा में आयोजित:

• सीमा सुरक्षा बल (बीएसएफ) और बॉर्डर गार्ड्स बांग्लादेश (बीजीबी) ने, भारत और बांग्लादेश के दो सीमा प्रहरियों के बीच ‘कॉन्फिडेंस बिल्डिंग मीजर्स’ के एक भाग के रूप में, त्रपुरा के अगरतला के पास बीएसएफ की श्रीमंतपुर सीमा चौकी के सामान्य क्षेत्र में 3-दिवसीय ‘मैनामती मैत्री एक्सरसाइज 2019’ में भाग लिया।।

• इस अभ्यास का मुख्य उद्देश्य क्षेत्र में बेहतर संयुक्त परिचालन दक्षता और सीमा प्रबंधन को प्राप्त करने के उद्देश्य से तस्करी विरोधी और आपराधिक-विरोधी गतिविधि से संबंधित योजनाओं का संचालन करना था।

• दोनों सेनाओं ने संयुक्त गश्त, तस्करी रोधी अभ्यासों में भाग लिया, दोनों देशों में संदिग्ध स्थानों पर छापे मारे और अंतर्राष्ट्रीय चौकियों पर माल और पहचान की जाँच की।

• अभ्यास का नाम बांग्लादेश में कोमिला टाउनशिप से 8 किमी पश्चिम में स्थित मैनामती पहाड़ी श्रृंखला के नाम पर रखा गया था, जो इस क्षेत्र में प्राचीन बौद्ध पुरातात्विक स्थल है।

पंजाब नेशनल बैंक, सुधार एजेंडा के कार्यान्वयन में सर्वोच्च स्थान पर –

• पंजाब नेशनल बैंक (पीएनबी) ने ‘सुधार एजेंडा’ के कार्यान्वयन में सभी सार्वजनिक क्षेत्र के बैंकों के बीच शीर्ष स्थान हासिल किया।

• पीएनबी ने ईएएसई-इंडेक्स में 100 में से 78.4 के स्कोर के साथ सूची में सबसे ऊपर है जिसके बाद BoB (77.8), SBI (74.6), और ओरिएंटल बैंक ऑफ कॉमर्स (69) है।

• EASE (एनहैंस्ड ऐक्सेस एंड सर्विस एक्सीलेंस) रिपोर्ट ने सरकार की 4 आर की रणनीति- मान्यता, वसूली, पुनर्पूंजीकरण और सुधारों के पीछे PSB प्रदर्शन में महत्वपूर्ण वृद्धि दिखाई।

कैबिनेट ने हरियाणा के मनेठी में 22 वें एम्स की स्थापना को मंजूरी दी-

• मनेठी, जिला रेवाड़ी और हरियाणा में नए अखिल भारतीय आयुर्विज्ञान संस्थान (एम्स) 1,299 करोड़ रुपये की लागत से स्थापित किए जाएंगे।

• देश के अन्य AIIMS की तरह, AIIMS रेवाड़ी की स्थापना प्रधानमंत्री स्वास्थ्य सुरक्षा योजना (PMSSY) के तहत भी की जाएगी।

• नए एम्स में 100 अंडरग्रेजुएट (एमबीबीएस) सीटें और 60 बीएससी (नर्सिंग) सीटें शामिल होंगी।

आईआरसीटीसी आई-पे: आईआरसीटीसी का अपना भुगतान एग्रीगेटर लॉन्च किया-

• इंडियन रेलवे कैटरिंग एंड टूरिज्म कॉरपोरेशन (आईआरसीटीसी) ने अपना खुद का पेमेंट एग्रीगेटर सिस्टम, आईआरसीटीसी आई-पे लॉन्च किया है, जो सरकार की डिजिटल इंडिया पहल को बढ़ावा देने में मदद करेगा।

• यह आईआरसीटीसी वेबसाइट के माध्यम से ऑनलाइन यात्रा से संबंधित सेवाओं का लाभ उठाने वाले यात्रियों को एक बेहतर ऑनलाइन डिजिटल भुगतान सुविधा और व्यापार करने में आसानी प्रदान करेगा।

• यह क्रेडिट कार्ड, डेबिट कार्ड, यूपीआई (यूनिफाइड पेमेंट इंटरफेस), इंटरनेशनल कार्ड और आईआरसीटीसी प्रीपेड कार्ड सह वॉलेट का विकल्प प्रदान करता है, ऑटो डेबिट भी जल्द ही उपलब्ध होगा।

• बैक-एंड सपोर्ट दिल्ली स्थित एमएमएडी संचार, आईआरसीटीसी के प्रौद्योगिकी भागीदार द्वारा प्रदान किया जाएगा।

नियुक्तिया एवं निवृत्ति

अजय नारायण झा 15 वें वित्त आयोग के सदस्य बने-

• श्री अजय नारायण झा श्री शक्तिकांत दास के स्थान पर 15 वें वित्त आयोग में शामिल हुए, जिन्होंने भारतीय रिज़र्व बैंक (आरबीआई) के गवर्नर के रूप में नियुक्त होने के बाद आयोग के सदस्य के रूप में इस्तीफा दे दिया था।

• मणिपुर कैडर के 1982 बैच के आईएएस अधिकारी, भारत सरकार के वित्त सचिव थे और उन्होंने 14 वें वित्त आयोग के सचिव के रूप में भी कार्य किया है, जिसकी अध्यक्षता भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक के पूर्व गवर्नर श्री वाई.वी. रेड्डी ने की थी।

• 15 वें वित्त आयोग का गठन नवंबर, 2017 में एन के सिंह की अध्यक्षता में 5 साल, अप्रैल, 2020 से मार्च, 2025 तक 5 वर्षों की अवधि के लिए केंद्र और राज्यों के बीच राजस्व के फॉर्मूले को तय करने के लिए किया गया था।

नरेश गोयल जेट एयरवेज के अध्यक्ष के रूप में पद छोड़ने के लिए सहमत हुए।

• रिपोर्ट आने के कुछ हफ़्तों बाद कैश-स्ट्रैटेड जेट एयरलाइन ने अपने पुनरुद्धार के लिए अपने दूसरे सबसे बड़े शेयरधारक एतिहाद द्वारा निर्धारित अधिकांश शर्तों के लिए सहमति व्यक्त की है।

• यदि गोयल बोर्ड से हट जाते तो एतिहाद जेट एयरवेज में निवेश करने को तैयार हो जाते।

• जेट एयरवेज में एतिहाद एयरवेज की 24% हिस्सेदारी है।

• सितंबर-अंत तक जेट एयरलाइन पर 8,411 करोड़ रु का सकल ऋण था, जिसमें 1,851 करोड़ रु का विमान ऋण शामिल था।

अनुबंध:

आरबीआई, बैंक आफ जापान के बीच 75 अरब डालर का मुद्रा अदला-बदली समझौता

• भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक और बैंक आफ जापान ने 75 अरब डालर के द्विपक्षीय मुद्रा अदला-बदली समझौते पर हस्ताक्षर का काम पूरा कर लिया है। इससे देश में विदेशी मुद्रा विनिमय तथा पूंजी बाजार में बड़ी स्थिरता आएगी। प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी की 29 अक्टूबर 2018 को जापान की राजधानी टोक्यो की यात्रा के दौरान द्विपक्षीय मुद्रा अदला-बदली समझौते (बीएसए) पर बातचीत हुई थी।

• वित्त मंत्रालय ने एक बयान में कहा, ‘‘बीएसए भारत को 75 अरब डालर तक की विदेशी मुद्रा की सुविधा उपलब्ध कराता है जबकि पूर्व में इसके तहत 50 अरब डालर का प्रावधान था। बीएसए व्यवस्था आज यानी 28 फरवरी 2019 से प्रभाव में आ गयी है।’’ इससे भारत के पास भुगतान संतुलन के उपयुक्त स्तर को बनाये रखने या अल्पकाल में नकदी की जरूरतों के लिये 75 अरब डालर तक की व्यवस्था उपलब्ध होगी। बयान के अनुसार, ‘‘भारत अपनी जरूरत के हिसाब से इसका उपयोग कर सकता है। फिलहाल विदेशी मुद्रा भंडार संतोषजनक स्तर पर है।’’

इफको टोकियो जनरल इंश्योरेंस द्वारा लॉन्च की गई बैंक लॉकर की सुरक्षा के लिए भारत की पहली नीति:

• इफको टोकियो जनरल इंश्योरेंस ने ‘बैंक लॉकर प्रोटेक्टर पॉलिसी’ लॉन्च की, जो किसी भी बीमा कंपनी द्वारा बैंक लॉकर की सामग्री जैसे गहने, शीर्षक दस्तावेज और अन्य कीमती सामान की सुरक्षा के लिए पेश किया गया पहला स्टैंड-अलोन बैंक लॉकर कवर है।

• पॉलिसी में बैंक कर्मचारियों या आतंकवाद या किसी भी कार्य से आग, भूकंप, चोरी सहित विभिन्न जोखिमों के खिलाफ एक कवर प्रदान किया जाता है।

• एक लॉकर में रखे गए महत्वपूर्ण दस्तावेजों का ऐड-ऑन कवर के रूप में पॉलिसी के तहत बीमा किया जा सकता है।

• पॉलिसी को खुदरा और बैंकों के लिए समूह नीति, दोनों के रूप में बेचा जा सकता है।

• यह 3 लाख रुपये से 40 लाख रुपये और उससे अधिक की बीमा राशि के 7 विकल्प प्रदान करता है और प्रीमियम दर केवल 300 रुपये में उपलब्ध 3 लाख रुपये के कवर के साथ सस्ती है, जो प्रति दिन 1 रुपये से कम है।

रूस, चीन ने संयुक्त राष्ट्र में वेनेजुएला पर अमेरिकी प्रस्ताव को अवरुद्ध किया-

• वेनेजुएला में संकट को संबोधित करने पर संयुक्त राष्ट्र सुरक्षा परिषद (UNSC) में रूस और चीन ने एक अमेरिकी प्रस्ताव को अस्वीकार कर दिया।

• रूस का मसौदा प्रस्ताव – जिसने “शांतिपूर्ण साधनों के माध्यम से” एक समझौते का आग्रह किया और जोर देकर कहा कि मादुरो की सरकार द्वारा सभी मानवीय सहायता पर सहमति व्यक्त की जाएगी, जिसमें केवल चार वोट जीते: रूस, चीन, दक्षिण अफ्रीका और इक्वेटोरियल गिनी।

• संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिका, यूरोपीय देशों और पेरू सहित सात देशों ने रूसी उपाय का विरोध किया और चार संयम थे।

Shashank Manohar resigns as BCCI president

On 10 May 2016 Shashank Vyankatesh Manohar resigned as the President of BCCI.
•   He also stepped down as the BCCI representative in the International Cricket Council and the Asian Cricket Council .
•   He served as the president of the cricketing body from 25 September 2008 to 19 September 2011.
•   He is holding the office of the president of the Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA) who is one of the three full members in the state of Maharashtra.
•   He is also referred to as Mr. Clean and is also known for his spotless track record and integrity in cricketing circles.
•   Meanwhile in the Supreme Court, BCCI was questioned about their apprehensiveness to implement the Lodha Committee reforms.

Charles Borromeo resigned from Tata Steel Sports Department

Charles Borromeo on 28 April 2016 resigned from the head of the Tata Steel sports department post.
Vigilance department officials of the company had questioned him in connection with alleged irregularities in tender process of 4.40 crore rupees.
•   He won a gold medal of 800 m at the 1982 Asian Games held in Delhi
•   He was also a part of Indian Olympic contingent that took place at Los Angeles in 1984.
•   He joined Tata Steel as sports assistant in 1979
•   In 1982, he topped the six-nation Athletic Meet in Mumbai by winning the Inter-State Championship at Kozhikode
•   He won bronze medal at the Peking International Games in China
•   Tata honored him as the Best Sportsman in 1984.
•   He also represented India at a number of track and field meets around the world, including Japan and China, where he again won gold medals.
•   He was awarded the Arjuna Award in 1982 and the Padma Shri in 1984.
