RRB NTPC Stage 2 (Mains) Exam Date, Syllabus & Pattern

The RRB NTPC trend is back again! The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has released notifications for RRB NTPC Mains stage 2 CBT syllabus and Exam details. A stage 2 ‘Computer Based Test (CBT)’ will be conducted by all RRBs for various NTPC (Graduate) posts. A number equal to 15 times the available vacancy will be invited for stage 2 CBT based on merit list of 1^st stage CBT conducted in between 28/ 3/ 16 to 3/ 05/ 16.

RRB NTPC Mains (Stage 2) Exam- Exam Dates

The RRB NTPC (Stage 2) examination will be on held in 17th, 18th and 19th January 2017. The date of RRB NTPC is tentative and in case of any further changes in the schedule, the candidates will be intimated via official notifications by RRB.

RRB NTPC (Stage 2) Exam- Pattern

The RRB NTPC (2^nd stage) will consist of three sections:

• Arithmetic

• General Awareness

• General Intelligence and Reasoning

The duration of the RRB NTPC (2^nd stage) will consist of 120 objective type questions and the total time duration will be of 90 minutes.

RRB NTPC (Stage 2) Exam- Syllabus (Expected)

Let us take a look at the syllabus of the RRB NTPC (Stage 2):

(A) General Awareness:

The general awareness section can have a scope of the following topics:

• Concepts of Economics/Budget

• Politics

• History and Architecture

• Geography

• Current Affairs: National/International events

• Awards and Honours

• Sports 

• Culture and Traditions

• Books and Authors

• Indian Railway Board

• Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Environment and other concepts from science

• Computer Science (MS Office, Fundamentals of hardware and software, Internet and Web terminology etc.)

(B) Arithmetic:

The Syllabus of Arithmetic in RRB NTPC 2^nd stage would be:

Number System–

• Natural numbers

• Integers

• Rational and Real numbers

• Fundamental operations like addition, subtraction, multiplication and division

• Square roots

• Decimal, fractions

• Unitary method

• Time and distance

• Time and work

• Percentages

• Simple and Compound Interest

• Profit and loss

• Ratio and Proportion

• Variation

• Elementary Number Theory- Division algorithm

• Prime and composite numbers. Tests of divisibility by 2,3,4,5,9 a11.

• Multiples and factors. Factorisation Theorem. H.C.F. and L.C.M.

• Euclidean algorithm, Logarithms to base 10, laws of logarithms.

 

Algebra:

• Basic Operations

• Simple factors

• Remainder Theorem

• Polynomial theory

• Quadratic equations and solutions

• Roots and coefficients and relation between them

 

Trigonometry:

• Values of sin x, cos x and tan x, for x = 0°, 30°, 45°, 60° and 90°

• Simple trigonometric identities

• Use of trigonometric tables

• Heights and distances.

 

Geometry:

• Lines and angles

• Theorems on Congruency of triangles, similar triangles, Concurrence of medians and altitudes, Properties of angles, parallelogram, rectangle and square

 

Mensuration:

• Area of different shapes
• Surface area and volume of cuboids
• Lateral surface and volume of cones and cylinders
• Surface area and volume of spheres.
• Statistics/Probability.

 

(C) General Intelligence and Reasoning:

• Word/letters/numbers which are related

• Series completion with missing terms

• Coding and Decoding

• Blood Relations

• Distance/Direction Sense

• Trends & Operations

RRB NTPC (Stage 2) Exam- Final Selection

The final selection in RRB NTPC (Stage 2) will be based on merit obtained in the Computer Based Test (CBT) of RRB NTPC (Stage 2). The result of Aptitude Test/Typing Skill Test can also be considered (whenever and wherever required) for final selection. The extant rules in 1st and 2nd stage CBT will be used in the process of normalisation of marks.
