SSC CGL Tier 1 Syllabus

  • SSC CGL Tier 1 examination consists of 4 subjects; General Awareness, Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude, and English Language.
  • The CGL 2018 online examination is scheduled to be conducted from  June 4th, 2019, to June 19th, 2019.
  • Each subject will have 25 questions for a total of 50 marks.
  • For every wrong answer, 0.5 marks will be deducted from the total marks earned.
  • Candidates who will clear the Tier I examination will be eligible to write the Tier II exam of Combined Graduate Level (CGL).

The Mathematics section consists of Data Interpretation, Data sufficiency, Permutation – Combination, Probability, Basic Arithmetic problems including HCF, LCM, Percentage, SI and CI, Ratio and Proportion, Mensuration, Average, Time and Work, Simplification, Approximation, Boats, and streams etc.

⇒Reasoning:

⇒General Awareness:

This section is present in both the first and second round CBT. The General awareness is quite a wide section consisting of Current Affairs from last six months from the date of exam, railway budget, and other important aspects, sports, abbreviations, important dates, state General Knowledge including CMs, governors and capitals, Indian History and geography etc.

⇒General Science:

The general science or more specifically Physics and Chemistry is present in both the online exams. For preparing this section, be thorough with your Physics and Chemistry of up to Class 10 course. Have a clear concept of the basics of these two subjects.

⇒Basics of Computer Application:

This section is a part of RRB JE CBT 2 syllabus. The topics included are Basic Computer Architecture with software and hardware, networking,  Internet and email, websites and browsers, different types of operating system, a computer virus.

⇒Basics of Environmental and Pollution control:

This is also a very important section, that shall be asked in the second phase of online test for RRB JE. You should prepare for the concept of environment, environmental pollution and its types, control measures, global warming, waste management, ozone depletion, and preventive measures.

⇒Technical Knowledge:

This is a section, which is included in the second round to test expertise in their corresponding streams.
